  • WHY READ THE BIBLE - In Reply on Genesis 7 - 5 years ago
If you bought a 60 inch screen tv, you'd read the owners manual wouldn't you?

You'd want to know what that tv can do?

Same thing. The Bible is the Owners Manual (Jesus). These following scriptures are enough to show that you need to come to know what you have.

Desire the pure milk of the Word. Strong meat belongs to them that are exercised in their faith.

    Matthew 11:29

Take my yoke upon you, and LEARN of me; for I am meek and lowly in heart: and ye shall find rest unto your souls.

    John 12:26

If any man serve me, let him FOLLOW me; and where I am, there shall also my servant be: if any man serve me, him will my Father honour.

    Mark 12:24

And Jesus answering said unto them, Do ye not therefore err, because YE KNOW NOT the scriptures, neither the power of God?

    Luke 24:45

Then opened he their understanding, that they MIGHT UNDERSTAND the scriptures,

    Matthew 22:29

Jesus answered and said unto them, Ye do err, NOT UNDERSTANDING the scriptures, nor the power of God.

    Luke 4:21

And he began to say unto them, This day is this scripture fulfilled in your ears.

    John 20:9

For as yet THEY KNEW NOT the scripture, that he must rise again from the dead.

Comment: strong meat makes your hair stand on end, your eyes wide and mouth drop, saying: WOW!!

    Hi Jayden,

The Bible is like the instruction manual for life. It's also the most published and read book in world history. It explains Christianity, history, God, and the purpose of life. It is God-inspired and an amazing book how you can read it multiple times and get new information. But it will only be understood by someone with an open mind and open heart who wishes to seek to get to know God.

If you want to start reading, you might consider reading the book of John.

    God bless...

Hello, there's nothing in the Bible saying to not use a musical instrument, but it does say the opposite. David played the harp: 1 Samuel 16:23

Psalm 150:3-4 - Says to worship with trumpet, harp, psalms, timbrell, stringed instruments, organ.

Instruments will be in heaven too- harps. Rev 15:2-3

It says worship in spirit and truth: John 4:23.

Playing an instrument is like serving and sometimes is hard to focus on worshipping God. But the same thing can happen if you're the leader singing, or if you're in audience reading notes or spacing out. So, I think there's a case for each where we need to make sure its done in spirit and truth and done to glorify God, not ourselves or some other purpose. God bless...

Hi, In John Chapter 14 , Jesus refers to the Comforter as the Holy Spirit and it's relationship to God the Father and to himself. The desire to know the Holy Spirit is a good desire.

Dear Lord Jesus, First I want to thank whoever watches over this site where we can say what is on our minds and pray and it makes it feel so special because you are reaching out to lots of other people that have to have something good in them to be on here to start with.

I am going through one of the worst times in my 70 years on this earth. I feel like I am just at the end of my life because I can not do much of anything and do not have the desire to do anything any more. It is awful and it is not me because I never ever stopped doing something my whole like with the Wife and the Kids and now nothing! I would give anything if I would change and start caring and doing things but all I do now is stay depressed all the time but I thank you Lord Jesus for everything you do for us and have done for us my whole life and I know if it had not been for you I would not be here now! Grew up a really rough old Tennessee life always doing things that should have killed me but you watched over me my whole life!

I pray dear Jesus that you will put some get up and go into my life now because I know for a fact I cannot do it without you! Thank you Lord and I love you with all my heart, Amen

I have a question concerning musical instruments in our worship today.. I have read and study one view on this and it is something that I have never studied before and had never even heard in all of my church going years. There are those who believe that instrumental music is not authorized for the New Testament worship of God today. I have read all the scriptures supporting this but it has come from one source. What is your commentary on this subject and do you have scripture to validate your stand? I have read the new Testament and have not found the use of musical instruments mention when the disciples gathered to worship. How did it come to be acceptable in our worship services if it was not authorized by God for his worship to him according to the gospel of Jesus? I would just like to hear another view on this subject but know that we are worship God in spirit and in truth. We are to do the will of God, and not what is pleasing to us. When we gather together for worship we are to worship according to His purpose and by his authority, according to the New Testament. The Israelites were commanded to worship with music in the Old Testament, but no mention of instruments were mentioned in the new Testament.

Amen.God is real and his name is Jehovah his only son Christ Jesus our/my saviour our lord,we are God's creation in his image and likeness men and women, with free will to design our future through fearing God and having the faith that He can change any situation to better one;however the situation is it ever possible with Jehovah's real servants, all the glory to Him only not to our selves;the one to avenge is God only don't avenge for yourself if you do He will get angry and discpline you and your generation together;get and be angry no problem but never let full day finish in your anger because if you allow that to happen you will act badly after;take the law in your hands and avenge for yourselves,to God Jehovah alone be the glory not to us oh God.

Holy ones, yes; they're the same as the people who have chosen to live true in Christ, whole heartedly in Him and not partial. These are below an excerpt from the book Holiness by J. C. Ryle, from a chapter called Holiness; which are very helpful 1-7:

    1. Holiness is the habit of being of one mind in God, according to how it's described in Scripture. It is the habit of agreeing in God's judgment, hating what He hates, loving what He loves, and measuring everything in this world by the standard of His Word.

    2. A holy man will endeavor to shun every known sin and to keep every known commandment.

    3. A holy man will strive to be like our Lord Jesus Christ. He will not only live the life of faith in Him and draw from Him all his daily peace and strength, but he will also labor to have the mind that was in Him and to be conformed to His image ( Rom. 8:29). Christ was a faithful witness for the truth; that He came not to do His own will; but His Father's will.

    4. A holy man will follow after meekness, patience, gentleness, patience, kind tempers, government of his tongue.

    5. A holy man will follow after temperance and self-denial.

    6. A holy man will follow after charity and brotherly kindness

    7. A holy man will follow after a spirit of mercy and benevolence towards others.

The greatest misery of a holy man is that often when he would do good "evil is present with him"; that the old man is clogging all his movements and, as it were, trying to draw him back at every step he takes ( Rom. 7:21). But it is the excellence of a holy man that he is not at peace with indwelling sin, as others are. He hates it, mourns over it and longs to be free from its company. The work of sanctification within him is like the wall of Jerusalem-the building goes forward "even in troublous times" ( Dan. 9:25).

Psalm 81:10 "I am the LORD thy God, which brought thee out of the land of Egypt: open thy mouth wide, and I will fill it."

Dear Sir As for this verse my Pastor interpret as 'When we pray and worship, we must take off mask, our mouth and face must never be covered before God...it's our mouth that will open before Him and He will fill it.

Was he right? I find it is a bit distorted here. Please help. Thank you and God bless.

Father God please watch over me, and forgive me for all my sins, keep me sane and healthy, help me to live righteous as you see fit, help me to be totally financially stable and secure in my life, guide my feet as you see fit, humble me to love everyone unconditionally, and teach me your ways of mercy grace, and having total faith in your word, ONLY....

as I pray each and every day, and please, please take care of my entire family, friends, etc, heal them from all sickness, generational curses, sin, evilness... and forgive Aaron for all his sins, heal his entire body, because he needs you so desperately right now and in any way you see possible... Amen!

In life, we go through many trials and tribulations, seen and unforseen.... So when I read this scripture " I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help. 2 My help cometh from the LORD. I know "Father God" hears my cry, listens to me when I talk.... And shields and protects me, family, friends etc., UNCONDITIONALLY!

Hi Mishael, I have only heard this song sung by our little Christian School nearby. It has been at least three or more years already. Thankfully I asked for a copy at the time. I will when I can look up the song you mentioned and give it a listen!

I feel the Holy Spirit drawing near to our discussion. If we let Him, he will make us more alike.

Comments by Alex on John 2 The third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee. But that 1st wine was Not the best wine and they ran out out that wine,The best wine was not till the 3 rd day 2 days later the 3rd day are we not in the 3rd day now. Has not 2000 years gone by. 2 days in the sight of God.At Pentacost the wedding was started they were all intoxicated with that spritual wine but the early Church ran out of that wine,God found fault with the 7 churches in Asia. Even Paul said when that which is perfect is come that which is done in part will be done away with. Paul writes to some saying i hear there is divisions among you. All thru the bible its always the 2 nd that is perfect,It was the 2 nd time that JESUS prayed for the blind man that he saw clearly, the 1st time he cd not see clearly. No body can see clearly under the 1st church doctrine, even Paul said he saw like thru a glass darkly impling a better vision is coming with the 2 nd anointing, the 2 nd wine was the best wine not the 1st wine. That image in dan. 2 was full of parts denominations etc .Tv preachers teachers tv evangelists, A CIRCUS. BEGGING FOR MONEY. All these parts answer to the gold ,the silver. bronze etc. The image had no life just like modern day christianity. The image is a perfect description of Jesus describing the ABOMINATION OF DESOLATION that was coming.Thats y Micah 5 is saying there fore shall he give them up till she that is in travail has given birth which is the woman in Rev 12 that is giving birth to the manchild that is gonna rule all nations,God so loved the world etc he is gonna pour out of his spirit on all flesh his spirit being the living word th seed of the sower, The contents of the book in the fathers right hand that is that stone cut without mans hands. Who shall abide the day of his coming,Who shall stand when he appears for he shall be as a refiners fire ( his baptism of fire w th H.G.) and fullers soap. MALACHI, Jesus tells us he will raise them up. gb

Thanks Mishael! It seems most people who we interact with here are all ready familiar with the scriptures.

    Ephesians Chapter 6:12

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, agaist spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all to stand.

    14 Stand therefore , having your loins girt about with the truth, and having on the breastplate of righteousness;

15 And your feet shod with the gospel of peace.

    1 Thessalonians 5:8

But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love, and for a helment of salvation.

These scriptures are the faith delivered to the hearts of Jesus Children (like the song), we and I are His little lambs and we will not fight carnal battles here in earth, we will fight spiritual battles even in our own flesh, yet with this Breastplate of Love and faith we are prepared in preparation for the Gospel of Peace.

This battle must be fought in love and peace until the end, without carnal weapons until the end.

Be Brave, trust the True Shepard. Sing songs, if we die physically or lose our material possessions or suffer violence in the flesh while maintaining this Gospel of Peace, so be it.
