  • Chris on Amos 5 - 5 years ago
If you mean the disciple Philip, then the Scripture ( Jn 1:44) says that he was from Bethsaide, in Galilee & part of the Roman Empire at the time. The disciples Andrew & Peter were also from the same town.

Beth means house and el (like Elohim) has a reference to God so Bethel means House of God literally.

Genesis 31:13 I am the God of Bethel, where thou anointedst the pillar, and where thou vowedst a vow unto me: now arise, get thee out from this land, and return unto the land of thy kindred.

Amos 3:14 That in the day that I shall visit the transgressions of Israel upon him I will also visit the altars of Bethel: and the horns of the altar shall be cut off, and fall to the ground.

Bethel did have much apostacy at times.

    Susannah, Matthew 13:38 The field is the world; the good seed are the children of the kingdom; but the tares are the children OF of the wicked one;

1 John 3:12 Not as Cain, who was OF of that wicked one, and slew his brother. And wherefore slew he him? Because his own works were evil, and his brother's righteous.

So is Adam the wicked one? The denominational church world does not seem to know....

Most everyone considers David a child when he confronted Goliath. However the age of the draft for war in Israel was 20 years old. Numbers 1:3 From twenty years old and upward, all that are able to go forth to war in Israel: thou and Aaron shall number them by their armies.

David could have been up to 19 years old when he faced goliath and that is hardly a child.

1 Samuel 17:42 And when the Philistine looked about, and saw David, he disdained him: for he was but a youth, and ruddy, and of a fair countenance. Look up Ruddy sometime. 19 is still considered a youth. not sure how old David was, but not necessarily a little boy.

    Hebrews chapter 1

Hath in these last days spoken unto us by HIS SON, whom HE hath appointed heir of all things, by whom also HE MADE THE WORLDS.

Who being the brightness of His glory, and the express image of his person, and

UPHOLDING ALL THINGS by the WORD of HIS POWER,

when he had by himself purged our sins, sat down on the right hand of the Majesty on high

Being made so much better than the angels, as HE hath by inheritance obtained a more excellent name than they.

My Comment: Atoms, Molecules, DNA strands, etc. Jesus held and now holds everything, as it says, in His Hands. Makes me think of that old bible school song, "He's got the whole world in His hands."

He's holding everything in its place. He's THE WORD of GOD.

Some scientists DENY Biblical involvement: Darwin, Hawking and others. It's a shame others who follow their lead, may miss out on seeing New Jerusalem; seeing Jesus and the Light of Gods Glory.

Maybe to some it's just not real to them because man doesn't get any credit for their Discoveries? Simple people just believe what God has revealed, in His Son.

There is a book of Remembrance in which is recorded the conversations we have about the Godhead. Angels lean in to hear what we speak out. Ought we not to keep a lid on our weak faith concerning these matters?

I once had zero faith in these things until I read the Word of Almighty God; repented of my sins and received Salvation.

I have a brand new belief system. I'm learning something new every day. The other day I learned that every Jewish word that ends in HIM is speaking of the 3 persons of the Godhead: like Elohim

( I'm not sure how it's spelled, but this'll work)

    And Goodnight dear ones.

I'm not sure whether there is any special meaning to the armoury given to David, since this was an actual battle that was being entered into. However, if pressed, I can probably see a couple of things here, though the one that seems more applicable to me is:

The armoury that was appropriate & useful to Saul, was simply unsuitable for David, who may have been of smaller stature & not a warrior, but a shepherd boy. We could take, I guess, some lesson from that to our lives now: parents often require of their children to pursue a particular line of higher education, career, life partner, & many other things. However, they may not necessarily take into account the children's abilities, interests or desires, and yet compel them to go in a direction that might ultimately lead to sadness & sense of worthlessness to the young adult. It's important for parents to be careful both in prayer about raising their children & the advice given to them, as this can have a major impact on the young life and not to assume that if it's 'right' or they themselves had done things a certain way, then it must be right for all.

I hope there may be others that can give you further insight into this.

That is true, Lillian, we live in an age where the younger ones pay little regard to the knowledge shared by their elders. I suppose the divide is made even more noticeable as we are taught to think & act independently, we spend more time away from home & the outside influences that bear upon us, particularly adolescents, cause us to function more as individuals rather than a cohesive family unit. Even in Eastern cultures where once upon a time, this divide was not there, is now evident as the world generally moves away from strong family structure/bonding & accountability, towards independence from any authoritarian rule. And this of course, then converts to our attitude towards spiritual things, where there may now be no necessity for a belief in God, as many believe that 'god is within us' or, 'we are our own god'. Tragic!
  • Lillian on Titus 2 - 5 years ago
I thank God for this teaching on how the older should teach the younger. But i find in this day and age that the younger do not want to hear much from the older. Or the older is afraid to minister to the younger. I believe that we should pray for wisdom in how to make our approach.

part 2 for the Australian guy

and the earth and heaven were created at the very beginning but I was without form, I would say. And the spirit of God was there and as that explosion spread out into the universe; the sun was created; and in fact scientists say that the earth split of and collide with another planet that create the moon early in that process as they have technology where they can go back in time, seems unbelievable to me but that was in the same scientific show where the moon was created early and that was how they knew. But did you ever notice the order of things as it is good proof in the consideration of that question; and or others that you had asked.

That is my understanding of that great and tremendous explosion still expanding today.

It is wrong for me to judge you and if you are serious; I will attempt to answer some of your questions and some thing that I can understand about one of the questions, The other thing is that this site has a search block and you can find a lot of things there and also you can easily find all of the previous comments on any issue. I do not know if you have done that but it is nice to know. So your questions.

Most of the "Scientists?" believe in a big bang - In the beginning God created the heaven (singular) and Earth - The Sun and Moon had not been created until V :16 - what was the Earth spinning around then?

The big bang was a massive explosion an

I was taught that the ones Jesus was talking to from the cross were the children of the first liar and murderer. (Cain) The ones who pretended to be Jews from the first by attaching themselves to them by getting to be the scribes of Judah. (woe to you scribes and Pharisees). Kenites are who he is referring to. They still try to put themselves in the place of God's people. Just the way satan always tries to assume God's place (the reason he was kicked out in the first place). He will return trying to take the Messiah's place as the anti Christ. Cain. Ever questioned why Cain's not in Adam's genealogy? A poser isn't it?

Peter there is a lot of Deception shared as you said because what is missing in their understanding is Gods Wisdom whithout it we cannot understand His Truth or recognise Mans error. Gods Holy Sons Jesus The Living Word and The Holy Ghost who are One with Him in Spirit and have been from Eternity (1John5:7KJV) when we ask for and recive Gods Wisdom which none of us were Born with and so we all lack it (James1:5-8 KJV) They will lead us into all Truth. Blessings G.A.

    2nd Samuel 7:18

Turn off all the media in your home for an hour. For 1 hour fast from food, drink, phone. Let your kids know they will observe 1 hour of silence too. Set a clock for them.

Be quiet, be still, and just listen for the Holy Spirit. Tell him you are there just for Him. You can sing a song of praise. I like 'Room at the Cross'. I happen to know the Holy Spirit likes that song. I have it scribbled on a shred of paper. Just be quiet, breathe in and out; close your eyes and listen. Anything can happen: He May sing too. He may give a scripture or speak a single word. Look them up by Bible concordance later.

Depending on your home: you may have to sit in the closet. (Hint) First make it habitable for prayer time. Don't use candles. I find if I pray lying down, I get sleepy. Just an hour of quiet time will calm you and give you peace. You can go there as often as you desire.

The noise of every day life shreds our peace. We can't hear God over the racket. I find this way easier to enter into a spirit of quietness. If I look at nature outside I can be distracted by beauty and hear birdsong, instead of Holy Spirit's voice.

See what works for you. King David often sat with watchmen or in his home; just waiting and listening for God. He was a man after Gods own heart.
