Hello, why do you assume Paul is illiterate? The apparent contradiction of the word 'voice' of the these 2 verses of Acts doesn't mean automatically mean Paul is lying. The men heard a sound but didn't understand the words of the voice. 22:9 says "heard not the voice of him that spake to me" means the words were not understood. The original Greek word appears to be a flexible one that is sometimes translated to 'sound', like in John 3:8.

Though a man gets sick because of his sins, that's because sin has been passed down to every living person on earth from the fall of adam. it is he who passed sin on to all. we all, therefore have a sinful nature, and we will die because of it, whether we get sick or not. we can be killed and die in so many other ways. it does not matter. we all will die the natural death, some to honor and some to damnation. yet, because god in his grace has imputed righteousness to us who were and are undeserving, to be saved. we still have the struggle in us to sin, but we who are his called, live for eternity. for now, we live in a dark world; a world of sin. we are to be the light and salt for sinner

I have a prayer request that my BA Degree I have received in Theology online from Grand Canyon University, will help me in becoming the teacher of God's Word in Scriptures I read to those that God brings to me, and help them to become born again Christians and can give a testimony of what God has done for hem in their lives.

I finished my online class last year in April and am able to now teach God's Word as soon as an opportunity comes my way. I want to thank you all ahead of time for the prayers lifted up to our Father in heaven.

Hebrews 10 vs 26-27 say if we sin willfully, does that mean if we sin on purpose deliberately with Full knowledge of what we are doing, we can never turn to repentance? Is the rest of our lives spent with foreboding and fear knowing hell is our destination? Because I cant seem to find Jesus anymore from the very second I wake up until I finally go to sleep I'm in fear , I have absolutely no joy in my life, I do my best to lead others to Christ but inside I feel like I've made an eternal mistake, and I dont want anyone else to make it

If I can jump in and maybe shed some light on this. In Galatians 1:12, Paul says:

"I did not receive it from any man, nor was I taught it; rather, I received it by revelation from Jesus Christ."

When John wrote the Revelation, He received it from Christ Himself. But if there is a question as to whether Paul met the qualifications to be an Apostle proper, we are told Paul went to Jerusalem, met with the Apostles and they, themselves, approved him as an Apostle to the Gentiles. Peter also refers to what Paul writes as "Scripture" 2 Peter 3:16.

Acts 9:5-7, "Who are you, Lord?" Saul asked. "I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting," he replied. "Now get up and go into the city, and you will be told what you must do." The men traveling with Saul stood there speechless; they heard the sound but did not see anyone."

This event is also recounted in Acts 22. So what are we to believe? Did Paul see Jesus? Well, He says he did. Others can attest to the fact that what Paul said on the Road to Damascus was True. Ananias was also a witness. And the Apostles confirmed it and appointed him Apostle to the Gentiles, as Christ told him. Furthermore, Pauls life, work, letters, sacrifice all testify to the fact that he did see Jesus and was taught by Him. In fact, the Bible says he was "told" by God and Jesus what to say.

If we doubt everything the Bible says, we have nowhere to go. If we doubt what Paul said, we have to doubt the entire New Testament.

To Carlos, our discussion page has now been locked, as you've probably noticed. So, I'll to post this afresh & hope you see it.

To your comment with the lead statement, "discussion leads to growth, edification, faith and maturity." I may have grown in my faith in a similar way to you. I had a lot of teaching when attending Church as an unsaved young person. After salvation in my mid-20s, I knew I had to undo everything, get into the Word properly & methodically, & find out what God is really saying. I realize that many have done much more study than me, but it remained in my heart that I needed to sit & listen to the Holy Spirit first & then hear man speak.

I too have never fitted into any denomination & it becomes interesting when having to explain why that is so. And I doubt, that any believer who is studying God's Word intently, would ever really agree on everything a denomination stands on & preaches. I think that type of variety is very appropriate, as we individually search the Scriptures & formulate our understanding based on the Light received. I have my own understanding of the Ordinances given to us, particularly in the performance of them; I reject the Health/Wealth teaching; the requirement for the proper biblical use of the Spiritual Gifts, & even to what we've been discussing at length: the proper understanding of the Creation account. As you can see, I've been prepared to sit with you on this one, as it too has exercised my understanding of the Scriptures in a way I didn't think was possible. However, my conviction is: 'if something is not clearly revealed in the Word, then just accept what is seen & understood'. By clear revelation, I mean, after a thorough examination of all Scripture over the matter. Yes, you could be right in your assumptions about Creation, but I just don't accept as fact something that is unclear in the Word & then have to entertain possibilities or probabilities for everything that follows after it.

Mishael, in response to 2 of your posts, Angels are created beings. We see that in Colossians 1:16. They were created to serve. They are not human and Jesus Himself said they don't procreate. He further added that there is no marriage in Heaven. Our existence there will be completely different than what it is now. Some people are of the opinion they will continue to lead a Human life, marrying, having children, going to work from 8-5. But that is fiction. We will be completely transformed. So much so, that the closest Disciples of Jesus didn't even recognize Him when He appeared to them after the Resurrection. How different was He? He sat with them. He talked to them. He ate with them. And they had no clue.

Paul tells us that our mortal bodies will put on immortality when Christ returns and calls us to be with Him for all eternity. Our bodies will be incorruptible. Our minds will be incorruptible. Out hearts will be incorruptible.

We have been taught to believe that all Creation is about us; about our welfare, our joy, our delight in God, our enjoyment, our families. But is that was what our earthly creation was for? Where we created for us or for Christ? Where the Angels created for themselves or to serve God?

It is also a fiction that Angels can assume all the biological functions of Humans and procreate with them. They can't.

Thanks James, I agree with your comments. Evangelism must go on regardless as we are not privy to God's predestining & the Gospel must be heard by all, even those who won't respond so that might hear of God's Love.

Joshua on Colossians 1:15 brought up an interesting question. Who is Jesus? Is He God Devine or a created being God promoted to a higher position? There is a related Central theme in Scripture we often don't pay a lot of attention to. Even Preachers seem to skip over it when referencing it. But if you don't fully understand it, the rest of Scripture becomes difficult.

I am asking the following question for all who would like to respond, on Colossians 1:16,

"For in Him all things were created, things in heaven and on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or rulers or authorities. All things were created through Him and FOR Him."

I have discussed this a little with others, but I would like to look at it on its own. From:

    PURPOSE DRIVEN CREATION

    Book

Q: What does the word FOR mean? What does it mean that all things were created FOR Him?
  • CARLOS RAMIREZ TREVINO - In Reply on Colossians 1 - 5 years ago
My 3rd Response, Joshua. In Isaiah 53 Jesus is called, "The Eternal Father, The Mighty God." Again, JW focus on "Mighty" as not equal to Almighty, making Jesus inferior. They won't deal with "Eternal Father". They don't know what to do with it. But Jesus is the Eternal Father, John 14:7-9:

"If you had known Me, you would know My Father as well. From now on you do know Him and have seen Him." Philip said to Him, "Lord, show us the Father, and that will be enough for us." Jesus replied, "Philip, I have been with you all this time, and still you do not know Me? Anyone who has seen Me has seen the Father. How can you say, 'Show us the Father'?"

Jesus is Human and Devine. Not angelic.

    Page 3.

And a side note: I don't understand what your 'Paul's theology' reference is. Paul (then Saul), was devout Pharisee, a Jew of the Jews, believing he obeyed every Law. He hated Jesus & His followers & put many to death. He received a revelation from Heaven that would shake his being to the core. ( Acts 9:3-7). What was that revelation? That this Jesus Whom he persecuted (i.e. against his followers) was alive from the dead & speaking to him from Heaven. So Paul's letters to the Churches were not from his own private thoughts & interpretations; He was a strict Pharisee would couldn't divert from the Law - not until He met the risen Christ, the fulfilment of that Law.
  • Chris - In Reply on Isaiah 66 - 5 years ago
    Page 2.

    b. Mt 5:17-19. Another clear Scripture showing that the Law was good but people, as sinners, could never keep it. So Jesus said that He came to fulfil the Law, not to destroy it. What do you make of that statement? Remembering that Jesus' coming was still in the period of the Old Covenant (i.e. of Law), so He could speak of the worth of the Law (v 19), but also to say (v 20), that "on top of it, your righteousness must exceed that of the Pharisees (who were known to be sticklers for the Law plus adding many of their own)". Was this possible? Jesus knew that man could never gain acceptance to Heaven based on the obedience of the Law; so He said that He came to fulfil the Law. So how did He fulfil the Law? I'll let you give me your answer.

    c. I will leave off quoting the Pauline epistles, as you have turned your ear against them & the other epistles. But you ask: "But is it really true that the death of Jesus on the cross is the only way of salvation?" Have a look at Jn 14:6; 10:11-18; Mt 20:28; Mk 10:45; Jn 6:33. All these passages speak of Jesus laying down His Life. But I hear you say that they don't have the words "way of salvation". Then it would show that you do not really want to understand Jesus' prime purpose of coming; all these verses show that He came to die so that man might have a new life in Heaven & not go to Hell.

Yasser, your comments are interesting to the point that it has me guessing as to your religious position. If you are part of the other two monotheistic faiths, I can understand your questions. But if you are of a Christian background, then please say so, as you seem to have knowledge of the Scriptures, but you appear to contradict everything that God had planned & set in motion from beginning of time to the coming of His Christ.

However, I will answer your last comment to me, but not quoting from the Epistles.

    a. Mk 10:17-19. The man obviously obeyed all the Ten Commandments & Jesus was pleased about that. However, Jesus knew that the man actually trusted in his wealth more than God (v 24). So what is Jesus telling him here? The bottom line was that he actually broke the first Commandment, "Thou shalt have no other gods before me". This man probably didn't have idols in his house, but his love & trust in his wealth proved otherwise. One reason for giving the Law to Israel was to show them that they could never obey it fully. This is a reason why the Jewish leaders hated Jesus so much: He exposed their sin (i.e. outwardly they showed obedience & piety, but inwardly they were wicked - they could fool the people, but couldn't fool God with their hypocrisy).

Following on my 1st response, Joshua. The JW also point out that Christ is a "a Son", John 3:16, 1 John 4:10. They see Him as a created being Hebrews 2:17. But they miss the point. Philippians 2:9 says Jesus was exalted, elevated to a higher position, promoted. But do these all miss the meaning of what is said? Is there a difference between Jesus the Son of Man, and Christ the Eternal Preexisting God, Creator of all things, Colossians 1:16.

It is that distinction that many fail to see. The Coptic Manuscript should not be taken on its own. It might be the oldest, but that doesn't mean it is correct. Taken in context is is clear the import is The Word IS God, 2 Peter 1:3. He is Devine.

  • CARLOS RAMIREZ TREVINO - In Reply on Colossians 1 - 5 years ago
This is a good discussion topic, Joshua. The Jehova's Witnesses use the oldest translation, which is from a piece of a Coptic Manuscript that says in John 1 that "the Word is A God". They also believe the reference in Colossians 1:15 that Christ is "the firstborn of all creation", means Christ was created by God, just like the Angels.

There are statements in the Bible that cast doubt on the Deity of Christ as existing always as God. That is why a study of Systematic Theology is so important for our understanding of Scripture. Peter said that what Paul says is Scripture. But some people misunderstand it, 2 Peter 3:16. Proverbs 8 says, "He was the first of creation". So which is it?

2 Peter 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance

John 7:37 In the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried, saying, If any man thirst, let him come unto me, and drink

Revelation 22:17 And the Spirit and the bride say, Come. And let him that heareth say, Come. And let him that is athirst come. And whosoever will, let him take the water of life freely.
  • Mild Bill - In Reply on Psalms 20 - 5 years ago
Jose,To imply that we do not have God's revelation, but instead a corruption of text,is to diminish the power of God to maintain his word.God is not and has never been"long ago and far away",and has revealed who would lie about him and his word.Just like salvation, either you have it now or you don't.Uncertainties about God's word, are most often uncertainties about God himself as Savior.

Bob Hilt, Peter is illiterate so how could he write a book?.....The most probable cause that Peter had a book is that Paul wrote those books to nullify his claim and serve as a badge of his apostleship.....Now, in Acts 22:9 Paul claims that when he spoke to Jesus, those traveling with him "saw the light," but "they heard not the voice." While in Acts 9:7 those who were with Paul are claimed to have "stood speechless, hearing a voice, but seeing no man."....Can you see his lies now?...

First I would like to thank God almighty who holds the keys to life and death. If you have surrender to God and know that his word is never void ,that he is a merciful God, what you are calling the new normal is nothing to fear. God will always see us through. Trust and believe God's Mercy, PSALM 56:3-4 When I am afraid, I will trust in You. In God,whose word I praise, in God I trust; I will not be afraid. What can mortal man do to me.

CHRIS IT NOT FOR ME TO KNOW WHETHER YOU WERE PREDESTINED OR NOT.THAT,S BETWEEN GOD AND YOU.And I believe GOD was aware of everything you do before you do it. Ecclesiastes 11:5 says as you do not know what is the way of the wind,Or how the bones grow in the womb of her who is with child,So you do not know the works of GOD who makes everything. You see I believe it,s GOD and Me, GOD and you, GOD and every individual right on up the line.Every relationship with GOD is personal.I,m reminded of what Peter asked JESUS and the answer JESUS gave him in John21:21&22.Don,t worry about the other man ,you follow Him.talking about tracts, stumbling past buildings going through crisis may all be true if GOD chooses to use it.JESUS told Nicodemus, you must be born again.WE must be born again to be able to enter into His Kingdom John 3:8 read.I believe at the appointed time-----those that GOD has chosen will acknowledge Him (JESUS)as LORD and SAVIOR to the GLORY of GOD the FATHER.(PHIL.2:11)What did Paul do, did he have any tracts to read? What did the thief on the cross do,past by a church and felt guilty for not going to church/No it was the appointed time.GOD used JESUS to accomplish salvation for the lost sheep.A free gift from GOD.What do you have to do if something is free/I say treasure it . Ephesians 2:8&9 GOD Bless.
