Did Noah only have 3 kids in the 950 years he lived?
Why did God spare Noah and his family, considering they were as corrupt as everyone else?
Why not just start creation all over again, in a setting that wasn't as conducive to sin, rebellion, disobedience and corruption?
We covered some of this in our previous discussions, but more is better.
Additionally, is there a relationship between the Wrath of God and the Day of the Lord?
What is it about the Sabbath that means so much?
No apology needed. It just seemed sort of odd when I saw that because all your previous posts have all been very cordial. I have actually had that happen to one of my posts where things got added in that I did not type.
I think the most important thing concerning the rapture is that we both agree that there will be a rapture. We don't have to agree with each other on the time.
There are Pre/Mid/Post rapture believers and they all have scripture to back up why they take one of those three positions.
Like I said to Bob, I don't have an issue with whatever of the three positions someone chooses to take.
Why is the rapture a hotly contested thing? That is a great question Bob. We could also ask why do we disagree on anything the Bible has to say? Believers disagree on all sorts of things that the Bible teaches.
I think disagreements become hotly contested when those in disagreement with each other take the attitude of "I'm right, and you're wrong." It's called human pride. We take our understanding of scripture and we turn ourselves into "Bible scholars." You know, it's like the "Thus saith Jesse," or "Thus saith Bob" approach.
I think another reason why believers disagree with each other so often is because we study our English bibles, and English is such a general language, much like Hebrew.
We can come away with multiple meanings on what the English text is saying because there are multiple meanings to English words. Honestly, I think that's why we have so many denominational churches out there. It's because people can't agree on what the English text is saying.
I think it was God's design that our New Testament be originally written in Greek. Greek is the most exact language there is, and you don't come away with multiple meanings on what the text is saying like we do with the English.
Anyways, that's my thoughts on your question.
I am curious though. If the Tribulation period comes in our lifetime, what will your role be during those 7 years? I don't think it will be to spread the gospel. God already has a plan for that. What will be your function on this earth when God's wrath is being poured out?
Also the unGodly can not give good advice . Ask God for wisdom , it's found through out the Bible ...
The original discussion post was NOT "Confused", though, that one caught my eye, because nothing in this world is more important than making sure their right with the Lord, because we as believers, already know, 'God is NOT the author of confusion but of peace' 1 Cor 13:33... but the original text was from Patricia
[I think we all .Is the boat when it comes to the bible. Instead of bickering back and to, accept by faith that every word is true. Nothing in this world matters but the fact that our almighty GOD sent his only begotten SON into this world to die for sinners of which everyone is, because in Genesis when Adam disobeyed GOD it made all sinners. There is still sinners so as GOD'S people we should be.]
Though true, not sure what that had to do with Genesis 10
As for whether it's a salvation issue, or a theological issue the bottom line for me is this: 1) Genesis 10 talks about the generations, (genealogy) of the sons of Noah not only as God's Written Word, but a historical document one can trust. 2) A reference guide.
Though I appreciate reading from those much more knowledgeable then I, I believe, this is the original meaning of this text, nothing hidden, it's just like it says.
They agreed to intermingle with women which resulted in the nephillim. This is what the spirit means when it refers to the "mighty men of old, men of reknown" mentioned in Genesis 6. The nephillim were 1/2 Man, 1/2 angel and were humongous and great in strength and became well known for their exploits. GOD put enmity between them and they set themselves against each other until they were all dead. All the greek "gods" and the titans were actually these nephillim.
When the fallen angels appealed to GOD for mercy HE sent Michael to place them in iron fetters and then placed them in Tartarus, the land of shadow, which we know also as the bottomless pit. They are there now awaiting judgment.
Jude here refers to them as examples of of the consequences of indulging the flesh and its lustful desires and willfully disobeying GOD.
In 2Peter3:16 we are warned to be attentive, because some usurp Scripture to their destruction. Paul in 1Cor11:16 also cautions us of excesses. But there are those that have created insulated cultures based on strict enforcement of unnecessary rules and conditions. Sometimes we refer to these as cults, but they are also found among denominations. They emphasize duties, that when violated, lead to losing salvation. Sabbath, Tithing, dress, works, adherence to OT restrictions, attending services 5 times a week. The list is endless. Pay attention to Gal2-4, 2:15-3:5, 3:28, 4:8-10. Shouldn't we live by our trust in Christ, instead of our list of do's and don'ts?
That is not to say we shouldn't be organized and observe good conduct. But not as a basis for salvation.
