Thank you! I love this commentary and responses. Many times a wife has had to deal with many issues surrounding this scripture as husbands placed as the head with the responsibility of providing and protecting. The help mate has many times been a great support to the head and has been severely and financially abused in the role reversal because the head is not providing.

An infidel indeed, Sometimes that head is a teacher/pastor who is so engulfed in the church they forget about home. Can we say they are so busy taking care of Gods bride they forget their own...

For those out there who are Bible quoting Christians professing the gospel that don't live it. James3:1 says you will be held at even a higher strictness.

Can we explore James 3:1 please?

Chris and Bethany, I hope I do the Christian Faith justice with my comments. There are so many differing points of view on so many things. Am I far off when I say there are insulated Christian Cultures that base their existence on rules of their making, by emphasizing vague passages in the Bible to justify their control? Take the Amish and Quakers. Isn't that a glaring example of what I mean? Or Adventists. Good people all of them, but from my perspective, they have issues. Of course, there are also JW, Mormons and others most might not even think of as Christians. But then there are those within mainstream denominations that insist certain things must be done a certain way or else, you are not saved.

The way women dress is particularly emphasized in many groups. My aunt, for example, was told to leave the church because she cut and colored her hair. Some say it is a must to observe the Sabbath, but all they do is have their Sunday Service on Saturday. They don't really observe all the rules attached to keeping the Sabbath. They can't. Others claim you must not eat meat, drink coffee, beer, or smoke. Mormons won't even drink Coca Cola. I could never be a Mormon just based on that one rule. Others won't accept gays in their congregations, but will allow adulterers and hypocrites to preach a Sunday sermon or lead the Choir. This, by the way, is not a list of complaints. They are just my observations.

My message is that we tend to focus on the petty and inconsequential and miss the real meaty stuff. So what should we be focused on? The Gospel. Joy, not reprisal. Appreciation of others, in spite of their shortcomings. And the fact that we must prepare for the End Times. Are most Christians prepared for persecution? What will we do when churches are forced to close? Or when we have to meet in secret? And when killing Christians becomes the norm? When we can't shop? Are we prepared? Jesus warned us in Matt25. Be prepared. Will the AntiChrist be the Muslim Mehdi?

comments on matthew 13 kjv Jesus tells us this parable of the Sower and his seed is the greatest parable, the most important that we understand. He said know ye not this parable HOW then will you KNOW ALL PARABLES. The parable of the sower is about being bornagain of an incorruptible seed even by the Word of GOD. Ya have to see it as the seed of the bridegroom sown in our hearts then ya see the CHILDREN of the kingdom, the son of man, mankinds fruit unto God via the good seed the words of the new covenant that God wants to sow in our hearts.I will put my words/seed in their hearts and minds, I will Know them ALL from the least to the greatest impling a heavenly birth via his seed etc. Jesus said that this seed is gonna result in a child in us th good seed are th children of the kingdom not a flesh and blood child but a spritual Child that which is born of the spirit is spirit thats the Child the H.G. ( That which is born of the spirit is the H.G. ) 1 st comes the child, 30 then the son, 60 then the fullness of the son in the GODHEAD 100 % KINGDOM IN THE SPIRIT. That new born that desires the sincere milk of the WORD is the H.G. our new innerman that new creature that has to be born in us via HIS HEAVENLY SEED th WORD, Jesus came forth as 1st a child 30 then the son 60 then the fulness of God in the son 100 % KINGDOM OF GOD came unto us as a seed sown in MARYS WOMB.But now its our hearts that is the womb where that good seed is gona be sown resulting in a birth of Christ in us.My lil children of whom travail in birth till Christ is formed in you, that good seed is gona form a baby king in US which is the H.G. Thats y the woman is giving birth she heard the word that good seed and kept it resulting in a birth and this is the best example of FAITH when a woman is pregnant she has the substance of things hoped for the evidence of things not seen th child ( the H.G. ) in our case, B/C i have spoken these words/seeds sorrows have filled your hearts a pregnancy a CHILD. 11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a SAVIOUR, which is CHRIST the LORD.

Note: This SAVIOR /CHRIST the LORD is born and HE shall establish SALVATION for all of us /mankind. Through CHRIST (see John 3:16-21) the opportunity to be SAVED is made available to all, thereby we can rightly return to JEHOVAH /GOD and avoid Revelation 20:15.

Hi, I am so blessed to hear your son is now serving the Lord! My son is now in about the same situation. He was near death's door because of his past drug use and present drinking. I am praying God will be gracious to him one more time and he will repent and turn to the Lord. I believe the seed of faith was planted in him and this situation is the way the Lord will return my son to himself.

The only way we can get to heaven is through the blood of Jesus Christ. His blood was shed for our sins. It is He that cleanses us. The only hope is in Jesus. Sin is the transgression of the Law. Which law? The ten commandments. All the ceremonial laws, the feasts, all the sacrificing of animals was done away with at the cross. Jesus was resurrected on the first day of the week, which is Sunday. God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit didn't need our help when He made the earth, moon or hung the stars. He said everything He made was good and he rested the seventh day and blessed it and sanctified it. He didn't do that on any other day. We can worship God every day but we cannot keep each day holy.

I John 2:3,4 "And hereby we do know that we know him, if we keep his commandments. He that saith, I know him and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him." ! John 5: 2,3 "By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments. For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments; and his commandments are not grievous". Roman 7: 7 "What shall we say then? Is the law sin? God forbid, Nay, I had not known sin, but by the law: for I had not know lust, except the law had said,Thou shalt not covet." The ten commandments is our "map" to salvation. It is God's character. It is only through the blood of Jesus Christ that we can be saved.

We cook and clean house and do nice things for our family and friends. Why? We love them and want to please them. If we love Jesus we should want to please him. We have to have a one on one relationship with Him. Jesus should be the center of our life. He is love. Jesus said, if you love me keep my commandments.

May the Holy Spirit be with you as you study God's word.

I wish we could come to some kind of truce about how much trouble Israel has heaped upon themselves for allowing Jesus to be crucified?

It was PROPHESY. It all happened as the Godhead Wrote it. Through Jesus's suffering He set the new Covenant in motion until the mystery be completed: until the fullness of the Gentiles.

Rom. 11:11 ...have they stumbled that they should fall? God forbid: but rather..through their fall...salvation is come unto the Gentiles (WHY?) for to provoke them (the JEWS) to jealousy.

For if the casting away from them be THE RECONCILING of the WORLD...what shall be the the RECEIVING of them be...but life from the dead?

Verse 26: And so ALL Israel SHALL BE SAVED

Verse 27: For this is MY COVENANT unto them (Israel) , WHEN I shall take away their sins.

Verse 28: As concerning the gospel (birth, life, death, resurrection of Jesus) They are enemies (now) FOR YOUR SAKES (us).

BUT as touching the election, they are BELOVED for the fathers sakes (plural) Deuteronomy 9:5.

They're OUT now and we are IN. God did that all by Himself. Didn't need any of us to debate the soundness of His Decision. Why indeed should any of us Gentiles shed a tear for 6 million Jews who were murdered? Well, they were on the outs so it's ok?

Is there anybody who will stop a minute and pray a prayer God asked us to do?

    Psalm 122:6, 121:4, 125:5

Pray for the peace of Jerusalem (not a suggestion)

God is not willing that any of us perish but that we'd all come to repentance: which means to turn around and walk away from what's holding us back. Backsliding simply means to stand still and go nowhere.

Forgive me for saying this, but there are people coming in here who need help.

TITUS 3:9 But avoid foolish questions, genealogies, and contentions and strivings about the law; for they are unprofitable and vain.

God show us your heart always, and to esteem others with meekness and friendship.

    To Luis:

You need to stay in 1 Corinthians chapter 7; read it slow; take some notes to keep it straight.

My comment is that children suffer the MOST when parents get their relationships in a knot.

Genesis 2:23-24 is the first marriage in creation. It's supposed to be a covenant. The two become one.

God barely tolerates divorce; only for adultery. If I understood right you have left the wife of your youth? Do you have children with her?

My best advise is to go to a Christian pastor or counselor, with your legal wife and try to see if you have enough between you to continue.

The 2nd woman, unfortunately, doesn't get to participate in the counseling.

Try to consider three people who are being harmed by this. I know if you ask the Lord to help you set it right, He will help you.

Spend a little time in 1 Corinthians 13, the love chapter. My Bible says charity which is the same word, love. Don't walk away from God over this. God is Love. Walk toward Him.

I agree! Most parables were warning people about hell and to not be complacent. Jesus said if u love me keep my commandments. Sad how people assume grace gets them off the hook for avoiding sin.
  • Chris - In Reply on 1 Corinthians 7:15 - 5 years ago
Luis. That's an awful relationship situation you present. It's difficult to comment as this man has supposedly become a 'Christian' & still wants to behave like a non-Christian & leave a trail of tragedies around him. Some Christians believe that there is still opportunity for him to get himself right with God through repentance, even though he wants to remarry while being a 'Christian'!; others believe, there is no more hope as he would "put Christ to an open shame" ( Heb 6:6).

Well, I can't see that he ever converted in the first place (but God is his Judge & sees the condition of his heart, not me). So whatever he decides to do will be sin & until he comes to the foot of the Cross in true conviction of his many sins, there is no salvation for him. So your question: what should he do? Well, salvation through Jesus is his only hope & he stays with his second wife, without adding sin upon sin, but if he wants to maintain this lifestyle of having multiple wives (as God doesn't recognize divorce), then he is free to do whatever he wants, as those who conduct themselves as non-Christians, without the knowledge of God & His Word.

love the teaching, but one thing I see wrong with todays' church , there is almost no teaching on the wrath of God, only the Lord or God loves you.yes God loves us all,but no matter how much God loves us, it will not keep us from going to hell.I seldom here teachers or pastors say you must repent, change your evil ways, separate yourself from the world,ect..I think if bible teachers and pastors would teach the whole word of God,then there would not be homos and so called christians in the church.they would either get saved or leave. most people want Christ to be their savior ,but they don't want him to be their Lord.

Carlos, just a quick follow up on my comment: I just saw your comment to Bethany, re: 1 Tim 2:12, so I can appreciate maybe the "control over others" issue you raised. I won't comment on that other one to Bethany here, as it will make this thread ambiguous, nor will I comment on it over there, but I'm sure it will appear in this thread in due course.
  • Chris - In Reply on Revelation 14 - 5 years ago
Carlos, I heartily agree with your comments brother (as I usually do, though squeezing in some subtle reservations, if I may!). So here we go: I realize that there will always be those who seek to bring believers back into bondage to sets of rules which are unnecessary, unbiblical & burdensome; and these are enforced to bring its adherents into a position of bondage, clothed in the garb of Scriptural mandate & "being of one mind & belief". Sometimes, such rules are not altogether wrong, but if they produce exclusivity & alienation from other 'believers', which again is not in God's Plan, then we must be warned.

However, you do not specify in what ways some are using "the Bible as a Book of Rules through which to control people". I know the matters of Church conduct, whether in dress, speech, usage of spiritual Gifts, etc. have come up here & I certainly have shared in some of them, but as much as I believe that these topics are not dealt with, either within the Word or amongst believers, in an authoritarian manner, I suspect that some might find a strict adherence to such matters concerning & not in line with the freedom we have in Christ. In my input in this Discussion space, I always ensure that my comments are biblically based (with references where needed), & so it is then a matter of correct 'dividing of the Word' that comes to the fore. Yet, there can still be room for objection in this, & I think that is where the matter lies: is one being too legalistic or judgemental by stating the facts laid out in Scripture? Or, at which point does the biblical mandate become open to more relaxed/liberal views? And then, who decides on this point, or do we leave the matter open-ended & a sense of a 'do what you feel is best for you'. And a further point: should we have a swipe at the apostles, who in the main, have so directed us?

Anyway, just a few thoughts that come to mind; & these of course, may well be off the mark to your purpose in writing.

Paul in 1 Corinthians 15:52 - In a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the LAST TRUMP: for the trumpet shall sound, and the dead shall be raised incorruptible, and we shall be changed.

We are changed at the LAST TRUMP and where is this found?

In REVELATION, the LAST BOOK of the Bible there are 7 trumps and the 7th trump is the LAST ONE and is at the end of the tribulation. there is not a 7th last trump prior to the tribulation. If you find it let me know.

Why is when the rapture / resurrection a hotly contested thing? It was not even debated until 200 years ago. Look into the lives of those who promoted this doctrine, like C.I. Scofield and you might consider this very suspect. Jesus said by their fruit ye shall know them.

Jesus tells us plainly in Matthew 13:24 Another parable put he forth unto them, saying, The kingdom of heaven is likened unto a man which sowed good seed in his field:

25 But while men slept, his enemy came and sowed (weeds) tares among the wheat, and went his way.

26 But when the blade was sprung up, and brought forth fruit, then appeared the tares also.

27 So the servants of the householder came and said unto him, Sir, didst not thou sow good seed in thy field? from whence then hath it tares?

28 He said unto them, An enemy hath done this. The servants said unto him, Wilt thou then that we go and gather them up?

29 But he said, Nay; lest while ye gather up the tares, ye root up also the wheat with them.

30 Let both grow together until the harvest: and in the time of harvest I will say to the reapers, Gather ye together FIRST first the TARES (WEEDS) and bind them in bundles to burn them: but gather the wheat into my barn. (first the tares WEEDS get gathered, then wheat last) could it be any more plain than this?

Jesse no one believed in pre trib until 1830 AD believe what you wish but it makes a difference. I would love to be wrong, but I doubt it. Question: How many million Christian died in communism the last 100 years?

    Bob,

I believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of the church, and I have never once made the claim that there is a second phase of the first resurrection listed in Revelation 20:4-6. Did someone tell you that? There is only one rapture of the church and it is mentioned in 1 Thessalonians 4:13-17, and it takes place prior to the 7 year tribulation period. That is my understanding, and not just mine, but many others.

If you want to believe you will go through God's wrath during the tribulation period, if it happens during our lifetime, I don't have a problem with that. Really, I don't. I don't know why it would bother you that I believe in a pre-trib rapture? From my understanding in 1 Thessalonians 5:9, God has not appointed us believers unto wrath, so I do not believe that God is going to pour His judgment out on any believer.

Again, if you believe you're going to be there when His wrath is being poured out, I don't have an issue with that. If I may ask, since you do not believe in a pre-tribulation rapture of the church, are you mid-trib, or post-trib? I'm sorry, but I can't agree with what you are saying. And I hope you are not accusing me of adding to the bible. You are also in disagreement with me, but I would never make such an accusation against anyone for simply disagreeing with my understanding.

Yes we are to do what the word of God instructs is to do .

But first we must realize that not doing it is sin .

So we repent and ask the Lord to empower us to do it by His spirit .

The first step is why are we not doing it ?

The Lord will help us do it , ask Him for wisdom .

The hardest part is owning up to the reality we are not doing , and can't without His Spirit .

When truly repentant in a matter or salvation , we then will be able to be led by the Holy Spirit and enjoy our obedience . I hope this helps .

Amen and Amen. Though, I understand that in the Millenium period, Jesus Christ will rule, but in the New Jerusalem, prepared and coming down from Heaven, God will reign with His people: "Behold, the Tabernacle of God is with men, and He will dwell with them, and they shall be His people, and God Himself shall be with them, and be their God". ( Rev 21:3).
