Acts 2;21 Whosoever calls on the name of the Lord shall be saved. Peter 3;18For Christ also hath once suffered for sins, the just for the unjust, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh, but quickened by the Spirit: Peter 3;21The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ The kjv uses the word also, a word that takes us back to the old test. Thank you for pointing these things out!

Simona, in Mt 24:36, you are correct that the words "nor the Son" are not there. However, in Mk 13:32, those words are found. Now this difference does not mean an inaccuracy in the Bible; it just shows that different authors have written their Gospels, & have recalled words or events slightly differently.

So what does this verse mean? I understand this to mean that as Jesus, the Son of God in the flesh, He was not privy to all that the Father knew or would reveal to Him. I know He is the Word of God made flesh, but whether He or the Father had set limitations because of His Humanity is not revealed to us. In Lk 22:41,42, we read of Jesus & His disciples on the Mt. of Olives & Jesus prayed to the Father in His final hours & in agony, "Father, if Thou be willing, remove this cup from me: nevertheless, not My Will, but Thine be done". As a man, he knew the horror of suffering & death that lay before Him & so His Cry to the Father to take away this cup of suffering from Him, but as the Son of God, He knew that God's Will had to be performed & so He willingly went to the Cross on our behalf. This verse shows us the agony Jesus endured as both Man & God & His continual resorting to His Father even when He knew the prophecies about Him & that His work of Salvation would finally enable mankind to get right with God.

Daniel, I'm sad to hear of your unhappy situation & I assume there is no possibility of reconciliation even getting the help of the Church to mediate for both of you?

Scripture is clear on this subject, that once a marriage takes place & then a divorce or permanent separation occurs, then neither of them can re-marry & must remain unmarried. The reason for this is that God recognizes marriage as binding & if a couple separate, they are still bound to God's Law. (see Mk 10:6-12). I appreciate that this is a very difficult situation & many people including Christians, put aside God's requirements to satisfy their need for love & companionship. As an elder, your position in this matter & responsibility in the Church is very important, not only for your obedience to God, but for an example to your congregation. They would know your situation & maybe your difficulty in remaining alone & looking after two sons but they will also be watching your life & the decisions you make. God will give you His Strength & His Companionship as you honour Him in your obedience.

You are correct! If I have a friend, who is dieing or come upon an accident and there is someone breathing their last breath, shall not their confession of Jesus Christ be enough to take them too heaven? That whosoever believeth on His name shall be saved! My comment was referring to the sacrificial atonement through animal sacrifice. This act provided a temp.cleansing until the next time of the same sacrifice. Baptism is a commandment of Christ, which in effect is the fulfilling of the law. Our confession is what saves us! The sacraments do not save us. CIRCUMCISION IS OF THE HEART! Loving Christ with every living part of your body and soul is what saves us! When you kneel before this gracious forgiving God and confess your sins,He is faithful and just to forgive us. It is interesting that Peter uses the example of Noah in the verse before to illustrate what baptism is. The law and the gospel always exalt one another. I think I would prefer to use this chapter of Peter, to understand what baptism does. Being put to death in the flesh but quickened in the spirit! I love Peters words, He has a clear understanding of both.

23 And when Jesus came into the ruler's house, and saw the minstrels and the people making a noise, 24 He said unto them, Give place for the maid is not dead, but sleepeth. And they laughed him to scorn. 25 But when the people were put forth, he went in, and took her by the hand, and the maid arose. 26 And the fame hereof went abroad into all that land. .... ( Jesus uses this circumstance to prove to them /us HE has power over death, never-the-less in 2020 the world was shook over death by the pestilence. The 2020 death by the pestilence is the same death above and Jesus still has HIS power over death /it, plus Eternal-Life, according to John 3:16-21.

Simona, You are correct as only God the Father knows the day of the return of his Son Jesus in glory. a companion verse is found in Mark 13:32 But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

I am in the middle of looking for sources, but the term rest - in this verse means that he reigned from that moment on. He didn't go and take a nap. It meant that his kingdom was established. So he sat on his throne and reigned. That's why they kept sabbath because it was a reminder to the Jew's that on the days they did little to nothing, God is in control; nothing stops moving and God doesn't stop working.

Dawn, you are correct that the Bible teaches that murder is sin, as is Anger akin to murder ( Mt 5:21,22). But when we come to Eccl 3:3 we see an apparent conflict in God's command against it elsewhere. We see the writer (we believe it's Solomon), of Ecclesiastes ponder over some aspects of life: its aimless cycles, paradoxes, futility, and yet, through all these, we need to recognize that life is a gift from God to us & to be enjoyed within the scope of obedience to Him & that true justice will be served by Him at the end. But he says that within the full scope of life, with its happy times & sad times, there is a time when death will occur (unnaturally). Now my understanding of verse 3, is that the "time to kill" must refer to those times of war when sadly, the soldier has to kill & be killed, also, it can refer to the outcome of justice, where the Judge pronounces the death sentence upon one convicted of wilful murder (e.g. Gen 9:6, as well as many instances where God has called upon the leaders of the Israelites to execute those who broke certain of His Laws). Now some today may find this very offensive, but that was God's requirement to maintain a Holy Standard among His people, as it is still His requirement for judges today to maintain such punishment for capital crimes. You may not agree with this, but this is what is required to maintain true justice & give real protection to the people.

Greetings Rod, Jesus had picked 12 apostles and Judas hung himself. There were then only 11 apostles.

John 6:70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?

I fail to find in scripture where the Lord told the apostles to choose a replacement for Judas as recorded here. They did this act on their own accord with out being told to do this.

Acts Chapter 1:24 And they prayed, and said, Thou, Lord, which knowest the hearts of all [men], shew whether of these two thou hast chosen,

25 That he may take part of this ministry and apostleship, from which Judas by transgression fell, that he might go to his own place.

26 And they gave forth their lots; and the lot fell upon Matthias; and he was numbered with the eleven apostles.

I am sure both of these men were faithful in the eyes of the 11, but still the Lord did not command them to do this thing. Saul / Paul however was a different story.

Acts 22:7 And I fell unto the ground, and heard a voice saying unto me, Saul, Saul, why persecutest thou me?

Saul who became Paul was chosen of the Lord himself.

Acts 13:2 As they ministered to the Lord, and fasted, the Holy Ghost said, Separate me Barnabas and Saul for the work whereunto I have called them.

I have had people deny Paul as an apostle and in doing so they must deny the book of acts and the book of 2 Peter which confirms Paul as a brother in Christ. This is usually those who claim to be into "Hebrew roots"

I find it interesting Paul was a learned scholar and was sent to the unlearned uncircumcised "Gentiles"

and Peter an unlearned fisherman was sent to the learned Jews, who knew scriptures.

1 Corinthians 1:27 But God hath chosen the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God hath chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty; These things humble me greatly.

    All glory to the Lord.

Greetings Dwight - I see your point. If indeed Calvin did teach that some men could not be saved. I do not really know what Calvin taught. I know he was involved with the Geneva Bible.

What does the Bible say about certain people and their salvation? Let us turn to the scriptures.

Malachi Chapter 1: 1 The burden of the word of the LORD to Israel by Malachi.

2 I have loved you, saith the LORD. Yet ye say, Wherein hast thou loved us? [Was] not Esau Jacob's brother? saith the LORD: yet I loved Jacob,

3 And I HATED ESAU, and laid his mountains and his heritage waste for the dragons of the wilderness.

Esau rejected the things of God, this is a long study, and as such God rejected him. Can you imagine God said he hated Esau?

Hebrews Chapter 12:14 Follow peace with all [men], and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord:

    15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble [you], and thereby many be defiled;

16 Lest there [be] any fornicator, or profane person, as ESAU, who for one morsel of meat SOLD HIS BIRTHRIGHT.

17 For ye know how that afterward, when he would have inherited the blessing, HE WAS REJECTED: for he found no place of repentance, though he sought it carefully with tears. ESAU WAS REJECTED OF THE LORD.

Obadiah 1:18 And the house of Jacob shall be a fire, and the house of Joseph a flame, and the house of Esau for stubble, and they shall kindle in them, and devour them; and there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau; for the LORD hath spoken it. (there shall not be any remaining of the house of Esau)

Esau married two Hittite women who were of the Canaanite tribes which the Lord had forbidden Israel to do.

Seems harsh, but there it is. Esau rejected the things and blessings of the Lord, looks like the Lord had "returned" the favor. The Herod family were of Esau per Jewish historian Josephus, you know the king who killed all the children in Bethlehem.

I'm asking for prayer to be delivered from the evil spirit which has been tormenting me for many years. It's right around my waist and it's affecting my manhood. Ever since it entered my body, I began to have severe stomach problems, persistent heartburn, headache, dizziness, extreme fatigue and bad dreams (frequently seeing myself sleeping with a woman I don't know) . I can feel this spirit on my face (the thin blowing wind) and it's as if I'm breathing it. I'm thirty years old and can't marry in this condition. Please, pray for my deliverance, please.

John, the Bible of course, speaks on many, many subjects & one of the important ones is of a person who has been saved through the Holy Spirit's convicting, & then his repentance & then knowing God's forgiveness based on faith in Jesus Christ's death on the Cross for our sins. If this person has truly come God's Way, we say that he is Born Again (i.e. not a second birth back into the world, but re-born in his spirit, where God's Spirit takes up residence in that person's life - John 3:3-7). We still look the same, go to work, etc., but by His Spirit within, we are now accepted by God as His very Own children, we look at life through 'different eyes', the graces of Jesus begin to fill us & become evident to others, we want to tell others of this great experience & new life, etc. etc.

However, after this great work of God in us, there are some well-meaning Christians who will teach that even though you may be a child of God now, you can some time in the future, choose to reject God, His Son & His Spirit & lose your salvation. They will even show you scriptural proof to support this. And true, if Scripture is taken in isolation or misinterpreted, then a Christian can lose his salvation. But I also take note that the Work of God in sending His Son to die for us was not a poorly devised plan. Jesus' death & resurrection was complete & final and God accepted this sacrifice for our sins by raising Him from the dead & giving Him a position of Power & Authority in Heaven. The Scripture also tells us that true Christians have been sealed by God (look these up: 2 Cor 1:22; Eph 1:13; 4:30). When God seals, He will NOT un-seal - we are His forever & He will "never leave us nor forsake us" ( Heb 13:5). Then can a Christian choose to forsake God? If a Christian is truly born again, he cannot & will not reject God & His Son. It's not possible. Yes, a Christian can still commit sin, but he is soon convicted by the Spirit within him & repents & is restored.

Jayden, there are usually two ways that the Bible looked upon. One is for its historical value & for a cursory look for interest's sake. The Bible is rich in history of course, where information & detail is given that is unavailable from other documents or books. So there is value there.

However, & secondly, for those who are Christians & those seeking to know more about God, His Ways, & dealings in Earth's affairs, the Bible becomes invaluable. The Bible shows us God's love for His creation & His provision for us (both physically & spiritually). It answers most of the questions we have about life & death & gives answers & illustrations of those who have gone through similar struggles to us with temptations & hardships in life. If you think of any question you have about a struggle you might have or a family situation, the Bible will have an answer for you. If you don't read the Bible or you lower its importance in your life, then you won't have God's Mind & Answer for you. Your answer will need to come from within yourself or from another; & there is a much greater risk of being led astray or not being satisfied.

His Word is no ordinary Book. It was written of course by the hand of men, but the Bible tells us that they were led by God's Spirit to write; 2 Peter 1:20,21: speaks of Prophecy (messages of future events, of which the Bible has many). And some of these prophecies have been fulfilled already, & some are awaiting fulfilment. The Word of God is like my daily Handbook, referred to more than any other material available on my bookshelf. Please spend much time in reading it, & what you don't understand, ask here or at your Church, etc. It is the most important Book you will ever own or read.

Very true, Kat. For those of us who have come out of the 'world', we truly appreciate the great measure of Grace afforded us to be drawn to Jesus & given faith to believe in the finished work of the Cross. I think of Luke 7:37,38, which tells about a woman overtaken in much sin, who went to meet Jesus to wash His Feet with her tears (of contrition & repentance) & then to anoint them with oil. Jesus recognized this act of repentance & devotion, as He said (v 47) & I paraphrase: "the one who is forgiven much, loves much".

And I know, that so many of us fall into this category as we have been saved from much sin & shame. And yes, if only we could turn the clock back, to have had the extra time to know & love the Lord more, instead of wasting it on sinful & vain pursuits. I came out of a very deep sinful lifestyle in the Air Force, but the Lord's Spirit met me one evening in my quarters & brought me to my knees as I agonized over my sin & a horrible eternity. The work of Grace was instantaneous, so much so, that my tears of repentance did not have time to dry as the joy of salvation became evident on my face. I would've looked a real sight! But such is the Work of God & we who read your testimony also rejoice with you in your salvation & new freedom to live by His Power & Love.

Jesse, good one!! Actually, in Jer 4:16: apparently the watchers were Chaldean soldiers (who came from a far country) to encompass Jerusalem so that none of its inhabitants would escape. I would imagine that they might have appeared quite 'emaciated' by the time of the siege! And Dan 4:13,17,23: "this matter is by the decree of the watchers...of the holy ones..". Here, I believe that the reference is to the angels who were ready to perform the LORD's edict for the punishment of Nebuchadnezzar, because of his elevation to divine status (vv 24,25).

But then again, Cydni may be referring to something else since it shouldn't be of much concern what happened later on to the Chaldean soldiers or to the angels.

In 2001 I had a bad habit,a snare,I could not stop on my own.One day on the bus I was told that even when I am in the act of fornication I could read my bible, before, after, and, I always read for 911 crisis, but I did not know it was okay to read my bible and even though I was about to sin,and I felt badly, but had wanted to have a right relationship with God so I did read my bible right after, before and during ,later on,and I cracked up because it helped me get out of the trap the residual bitterness, hurts, wounds of my soul-resentments had gotten ahold on me,reading my bible changed me. I have been chaste for Jesus since 2007 & depression gone suicidal thoughts gone. I need Jesus everyday ,throughout the day and 24/7. I Listen to 105.3FM & 1190 AM WLIB gospel contemporary music keeps me uplifted. When you speak out to God loves it when we ask for help & the bible says that God rewards those who diligently seek him. I will keep you in my prayers Dana.

I believe before mass communication Christ ordained 24 apostles also known as elders of which are spoken of by John in Revelation.

I believe the Lord saved Paul to open the gospel to the gentiles.

Paul had the innocent blood of Steven near him consenting to Steven's martyr.

Paul ran the race, fought the good flight and won the prize and stands on the right hand of Christ.

But somewhere Paul would have replaced a previous apostle who was martyred or replaced or died.

Kathy, Bendito has given you some great & pertinent Scriptures on life after death. I thought to just give you one more, that confirms further in MY heart of my instantaneous removal from this body & from this Earth at time of death. The Scripture is in 2 Corinthians 5:1-8. Paul speaks of his longing to put off this body of flesh (i.e. to die & "to be with Christ, which is far better") & be clothed with a new body. And Paul goes on to say, that he can confidently say that whilst he was here on Earth it meant that he wasn't physically with his Lord in Heaven; rather, he says, he was "willing to be absent in the body & present with the Lord". This means that when he dies, his body would be left behind, but his spirit would instantly return to the Lord (also Ecclesiastes 12:7). There is no suggestion of some delay from death to eternity; Paul strongly writes that the transition from earth to heaven (for the Christian), or from death to eternal life is instantaneous. This was his hope & longing and of course, the great desire of every child of God still alive now.
