Sir, I both agree and disagree with what you're saying. First, I do not see anything in Patricia's post stating that she is pastoring a church, or usurping authority over a man. I agree with 1 Timothy 2:12, but that is speaking of a woman being in authority over a man in the church, or pastoring a church, not that a woman cannot teach at all. Women are allowed to teach children in a Sunday school setting, or at home if the man is not fulfilling that role. Women are also allowed to teach other women. However, women are not to hold a position of authority over the men in the church. In other words, women are not allowed to pastor the church. This is not to say that women are inferior to men, and there are plenty of women who would be much better teachers than some of the men out there. But God's order in the church is God, Christ, Man, Woman. As far as submission goes, it always involves a third person, Wives submit to their husbands, husbands submit to their wives, in the Lord!

This chapter written by Solomon is to give counsel in view of man's wickedness. He gives a series of proverbial sayings concerning wisdom & foolishness. Verse 26 probably refers to a loose woman (harlot). Solomon also refers to her in his Proverbs 6:24-29. Sadly, he uses the female gender to demonstrate his point of seduction, when both genders are equally responsible in the decisions they make. Solomon says that this is "more bitter than death": the seduction into sin's traps. However, he says, both righteous men & women are a rare find (vv 27,28). Not a nice picture at all, but again showing us that our hearts are "deceitful above all things & desperately wicked...." ( Jer 17:9).

In all honesty, believers are not supposed to try and interpret dreams, so I don't believe anyone here can truly tell you what your dream means. There are people out there that make their living interpreting dreams, but as believers, we're not to go there either. If you feel the Lord is trying to give you a message, you might want to go to Him in prayer and ask. By the description of your dream, I don't think this is any message from the Lord. When He wants us to know something, He will make it very clear as to what He wants us to know. The best answer I can give you is that you just dreamt of a green alligator in muddy water. That's it!
  • Chris - In Reply on Isaiah 24:23 - 5 years ago
I think you're enquiring about Isaiah 24:23. If so, then this whole chapter deals with Gods' message to Judah through his servant Isaiah, about the future Great Tribulation to come upon Israel (& the whole world). You should read also chapters 25-27. Isaiah writes specifically to his people & how they will be affected. Jesus also spoke of this time ( Mt 24) & particularly in reference to Isa 24:23, Jesus says in Mt 24:29,30, that "the sun & moon will be darkened & the stars fall & then shall He (the Son of Man) appear in the clouds in great power & glory". We understand that this time will be when Jesus, the King of kings will come from Heaven (where He is now at the Father's Right Hand), to reign on the Earth for a thousand years & sin & Satan will be bound. His children will reign with him for a thousand years in Jerusalem. When we consider all that lies ahead & especially the horrors for those who refuse Jesus, we can but rejoice in the gift of Salvation from God.

    Our heavenly Father,

We come before you and we thank you for your provision. We humble ourselves before you, and we are so blessed to know that you hear and answer every prayer that is asked according to your will, not ours. Father, we lift up Doris to you that you might heal her and strengthen her during this tough time she is going through. Help her to know that no matter what she is going through, that you are her strength. We know that you alone have the power to heal, but we also understand that there are times when you choose not to heal, and we accept that, because we know it is from you. But we pray Lord, that your will be done in Doris' situation. We pray this in Jesus' name, Amen!

Diane, you have rec'd pertinent Scriptures & comment here. I would add: if indeed your contact who is 'struggling with homosexuality' believes that the condition is from birth, not acquired due to other factors, e.g. result from abuse, being led astray, looking for any love, etc., then your contact needs to know that homosexuality is regarded as sin (references given by Bob), & ALL sin can be repented of & a life can turn away from it. Yet, that is easy to say & hard to do. Sin comes to ALL of us: firstly, lust starts off in the mind & when allowed to develop (mature) & produce action (conceive), it brings forth sin; when it is finished, it brings forth death (eternal damnation) (Js 1:15). When we 'nip it in the bud' = in the mind/our desire, then there's no sin. If we allow it to mature & give in to action, sin is the result. Your contact may not easily clear his/her mind of this desire, but restraint to action is paramount. The Holy Spirit truly gives much strength & healing.

Adam, thanks for sharing that. I agree that the King James Version is probably the most accurate English translation we have. It is my bible of choice and is the English version I recommend to people who ask me what bible they should purchase or study from. But like all English translations, it also is a translation.

I am in no way putting down the King James. Like I said, it is my bible of choice, and the one I study from. I do however change words in my King James Bible when I come across words that need to be changed in order to clarify the meaning of the text and present a more accurate representation of what the English is saying.

The more I try to be good it seams like just one more huddle is added. I thought I was doing good to set up a garden so my children,( during really hard times ), would have a place to come to and eat out of it. But then I learned what the word guile meant. Instead of trusting God to feed them or choose not to for the life style they live ,I took it upon my own craftiness to do it. Im a true believer but worry that my knowledge God , gave or allowed me to see , coupled with my shortcomings might put me in a bad place.

God made it clear that it's worse for those who know the truths but end up sinning. No one is free of sin, but the Apostles say you must be like Jesus. This is confusing to me. Sometimes I get mad ,feel that Before I believed , the god of this world ,(satan), had me learn evil. Now it's second nature to spout out sly remarks at the evening news. Or get upset at people. And there is that ever lasting lust for the opposite sex. I don't act on it , I'm been single 22 Y.

Wayne, 1 Samuel 31 speaks of the deadly arrow strike that King Saul encountered & his command to his armour-bearer to end his life with a sword. The armour-bearer also then fell on his sword probably for what he had done to the king & also to the horror that may come to him by the approaching Philistines. When the enemy came upon the dead bodies, they beheaded Saul, & the inhabitants of Jabeshgilead came to retrieve his body & the others, took them back to Jabesh and burned (cremated) them there. However, this is the only clear instance of this happening. Usually, cremation was practised by the heathen & certainly uncommon among Israel. In Deut 21:23, the burying of the dead is seen & is common practice. For Christians today, cremation remains an option based on personal belief & high costs of burial, but for those who strongly believe in burial (& I support this), it is wise to put funds aside to meet that future need.

Lisa Pensworth, Is this what you are talking about? Revelation Chapter 1 verse 20

The mystery of the seven stars which thou sawest in my right hand, and the seven golden candlesticks. The seven stars are the angels of the seven churches: and the seven candlesticks which thou sawest are the seven churches.

If so then there is no doubt what they truly are - if you are willing to understand the evidence and the logic. Trust me.

Vincent, there is no indication that Job lacked food during his lifetime (though of course, he lost so much else). It could be that as a result of his great losses & personal affliction by Satan (boils), that his appetite may not have been normal. Also, we don't hear anymore of his wife after she gives Job some wrong advice (2:9) & a slight reference to her (31:9,10) which is only an illustration Job makes: "if he should give into passion to another woman, then may his wife be given to another man": implying that he would never do such a thing. So, we know little more than this about her, though we could assume that his physical torture was accompanied with 'fireworks' around the house.
  • Chris - In Reply on Psalms 23:1 - 5 years ago
Rei, thank you for your response. I will say two things: we are Christians & as those under our Lord's Directive we are to resist taking the offensive (e.g. just see attacks on Jesus by His accusers/enemies; could He not have given them a solid whipping, tongue-lashing or obliterated them off the face of the Earth). Rather, we are to "follow peace with all men & holy living, without these no man shall see the Lord" ( Heb 12:14, Rom 12:18). If we live by the sword, we shall die by the sword. Secondly, Rom 12:19 & Heb 10:30 speak of Vengeance & the right to meet out final judgement, as God's prerogative only & not man's. Yes, we do have the law enforcers on Earth & so we should, but for them to be able to do it perfectly would require a policeman to stand guard outside every house, on every street so as to give us safety. And then, what about the child that runs onto the road in front of a bus, or the young bride just diagnosed with cancer. Needless death?? Where's the comfort here?
  • Troy - In Reply on Psalms 23:1 - 5 years ago
Wow, Rei. Just tear any old verse from its context and MISapply it to any old thing, eh. "Hey, what does Ps 23 have to do with COVID 19 China virus?" or "Hey, what does Ps 23 have to do with the International Space Station?" The answer: very little or probably nothing. And that's the answer to your question too, Rei. But if you do HONESTLY want something helpful for 'little children around the world who have been raped and or murdered'" read Lamentations for something really sad, or read Proverbs. I really feel like your question isn't even a genuine attempt to understand Psalm 23 (or any other verse in Scripture).

Kristin Haney, you don't go to heaven. You grow to heaven. Being saved is rounding first base. Ask Jesus to be your Lord and Savior - only once. You did it. Great. Now go on to 2nd base. Read and understand Revelation 3:20 with respect to Rev. 11:1 where it tells you to take stock of yourself in the development of the Temple of God - your body that houses 7 spiritual centers or often called either chakras or your seven seals. The one LIKE unto the Son of Man is your little voice in your head or your women's intuition or your remote to God or your Christ Consciousness that ancient man called the Overself or Super Conscious mind. Again Rev. 3:20 asks you to let God Almighty into your own personal Temple of God as He wishes to "sup" with you and you with Him. This is ultra important in your Christian life. Attributes of Him in chap 1 - white hair - wisdom; golden girdle - worth; eyes of fire - perception. Good luck Kristin Haney.

Diane: I would first seek counseling at your Church.

God gives us free will. How we live our lives depends (I think) on how much Bible you've got inside you. I do know the Bible says that the last days will be as in the day of Noah.

There's a scripture somewhere that says the seas or oceans will give up their dead and I'm sure anyone who was burned up by disaster or cremation will be taken up too. I'll try to find it. Ashes to ashes, dust to dust (said at funerals). All Christians dead or alive will be raptured :)

In case anyone needs clarification, the teams of translators for the KJV was very meticulous and spent 7 years translating it and discussing everything in the finest detail for maximum accuracy. When a translation is made it is never an exact 1 to 1 ratio in translating each individual words, because the meaning is different. To capture the meaning accurately additional words often need to be added to complete the meaning. This is normal for any translation and doesn't mean translators added opinions or anything unnecessary. It is absolutely necessary to add the necessary words to complete the meaning. For example:

Psalms 7:11 - The English words 'with the wicked' were needed to add context for who God was angry with which was more inherent in the Hebrew. So, if the English translation wasn't completed it would then read that God 'is angry every day' which isn't the actual meaning and would be incorrect. So, the translation was made accurate by the italics which complete the English.

The bible never speaks of infant baptism. You can be baptized again as an adult. Just a couple of things to know. Baptism (Water baptism) has no part in your salvation. A person is baptized after they get saved as an outward expression of an inward change. In other words, it shows a testimony that that you have received Christ, that you died of your sin, was buried with Him, and rose to a new life in Christ.
  • Jesse - In Reply on 2 Thessalonians 3:16 - 5 years ago
No, this is not speaking of disfellowshipping. This is telling us God is the God of Peace. He's the Lord of peace. May He give you peace always through all things.

Literal translation: The Lord (is) with you all.

Now if He's the Lord of peace and He's with me all the time, then I can experience the peace of God, because, He's with me always, and He is my peace.

The section of scripture that talks about disfellowshipping is found in Matthew Chapter 18 Verses 15 to 20.
  • Jesse - In Reply on 1 John 2:23 - 5 years ago
You may already know this, but words that are in italics mean that they were not in the original text. They were added in by the translators. I don't believe there is any extra meaning to that verse.

They had problems back then with people believing in God the Father, but not in the deity of Jesus Christ. We have some of that today.

Jesus said in John 5:23 that all men should honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He that honors not the Son honors not the Father which has sent Him.

In John Chapter 5, Jesus said that all authority has been conveyed to Him. He is to judge all people. And He is to be honored equal to the Father. Most religions believe in a god, or might even call him father. But they will not believe that Jesus Christ is equal.

Jesus said in John 10:30, about the sheepfold, He said I and my Father are one. You can't have one without the other!

But he that acknowledges the Son has the Father also. Whosoever denies the Son, the same does not have the Father:
