Words can not express the gratitude I have for my LORD and savior . I was so lost and always knew he was there but it wasn't until the last four years in my darkest times , I poured my heart and soul out to him . He literally saved my life . No one in this world could understand the emotions I was going through or help me except Christ . To this day I give thanks for everything in my life he has blessed me with and more . Every single day I do the same and pray for others hoping they will feel the same salvation . GOD is good!

Of course, you're correct. However, when some speak against such manifestations of spiritual gifts, they see how it is being done outside of Biblical instruction. The chapter you quote, is filled with instruction on its permitted use. And if there is no one to interpret when a tongue is given, then he should remain silent; for the gift is given so an unbeliever has a sign from God that an unlearned language is spoken (maybe God is giving him a Word), and to the believer, the translated message from that tongue will be for mutual edification. Outside these guidelines, the gift of tongues becomes pointless and of little use in the Church.

If your remark is of a general nature & not tied to a thread here, then please remember we are Christians, ordinary people, who love the Lord Jesus and give testimony to His Love and Saving Grace. Not everyone can be articulate or well-informed, as maybe you are, but the Scripture has declared, "But God chose the foolish things of the world to confound the wise; and God has chosen the weak things of the world to confound the things which are mighty" ( 1Cor 1:26,27). We might be simple, misguided people in the eyes of the world, but content to be precious in God's Eyes as we endeavour to live for Him & speak of His Goodness in whatever way we can.

It is wonderful to read your testimony in this matter, brother. The Lord is mindful of your needs & situation. As the LORD also said, that "it is not good for man to be alone" ( Gen 2:18). Remain in prayer and devotion to the One Who has purchased you with a great price. He will give you the right companion in His Time. When ye "seek first the Kingdom of God & His Righteousness, all (these) things will be added unto you" ( Mt 6:33).

In Injil-e-muqaddas, we see the words of Jesus in John chap 3: For God so loved the world (ALL peoples of ALL nations He made), that He gave His only begotten Son (His Word = 'Kalimat-ullah' sent to this Earth & clothed in the form of man) see John 1:1-14; that whosoever believeth on Him should not perish, but have everlasting life".(v16). "Jesus came unto His own (the Jews), & His own received Him not (rejected & crucified Him). But as many as received Him (believe & accept His sacrifice by faith), to them gave He power (the right, privilege) to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on His Name" ( John 1:11,12). Yes, Jesus came for the Jews, but His love extends to you & me also.

I need to be close to God. Please pray that God will draw me to Himself through Jesus Christ and give me victory over all sin. I also struggle a lot with being single. Please pray that Jesus Christ will help me meet the lady He wants me to marry, a Godly wife would be a good blessing to me. Thank you so much for your prayers and God bless you all.

Great comments from Jesse. I too feel, without direct Scriptural warrant, that in Heaven the saints will have some consciousness of loved ones left behind or even grieve over the continual depravity of the world, as the Father grieves. The only references I can cite refer to angels who have an interest in us on the Earth; then can we assume that saints who have gone on ahead of us, can likewise 'enjoy' the same vista? Consider: Mt 18:10, Lk 15:10, 1 Cor 4:9, 11:10, 1 Pet 1:12.
  • Chris - In Reply on Hebrews 10:29 - 6 years ago
I would add: the readers of Hebrews were Messianic Jews, living in Jerusalem & were being encouraged during persecution. The key verse re: Rebeca's question, is verse 26: "If we sin wilfully...". In Greek, this is written in the present, active tense; i.e. "If we go on sinning, or making it a continual habit". We understand by the Spirit's Work in our salvation, that it is a complete & perfect Work; i.e. we are not only forgiven completely but for all time & given the Power to live our new life. We can still sin, but the Spirit within checks us to draw us to repentance. But if we reject His pleas & prefer our 'other' lifestyle, then the question: were we even saved at all? God is our Judge.

Miguel: Adam has given you a very worthy & accurate response, but I will add further. You ask: "Why doesn't God show Himself or a sign of Himself?" Well, He has in the Person, Work and Sacrifice of His Son Jesus Christ. Once a man called Philip asked Jesus the same question you are asking now. And Jesus replied, "he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father (God)". You can read it in John's Gospel, chapter 14, verses 6 to 11. If you study Jesus' life, as you also study others & holy books you think are equally worthy, you will not find one person or book that can measure up to Jesus, God's Son. His life was sinless, His Sacrifice was complete, & He fulfils all prophecies given about Him.

People can also get audio of the KJV for free, for example on this website. Someone can load it on their smart phone and just play the audio of any chapter they want to hear.

I suggest the King James Bible on CD with Alexander Scourby as the narrator as he has a great voice. It can be had for the new testament only for about 25 dollars delivered. Pay attention to who is being persecuted for Christ and by whom are doing the persecution. It will likely be the same as it was in the days of Christ. Persecution is coming people and has been in the works for a long time. 10 of the 12 apostles died for their faith. Paul died for his faith and stephen did also.
Jesus died for you, would you die for him?

Revelation 14:13 And I heard a voice from heaven saying unto me, Write, Blessed are the dead which die in the Lord from henceforth: Yea, saith the Spirit, ...

Everyone please turn off the TV and read or listen to the Bible. One can buy the KJV new testament on CD for about 25 dollars us delivered. Listen to it while working or driving. James 1 says if any of you lack understand let him ask of God.
Seriously ask the Lord to reveal things to you and dig. Hit the thrift stores and buy some bibles as some day they shall likely be illegal. There are places now where the new testament is considered hate speech. The Lord is not happy with Europe and the USA and judgment is coming. Persecution is promised to those who follow Christ in 2 Timothy 3:12
Persecution shall separate the sheep from the goats and shall bring revival to the true remnant of Christ

I apologize. I just wish we could join hands and kick corona virus in the teeth with our faith. On Passover the Jews put lambs blood over the door so death (corona virus) would pass over the house. Jesus gives us power to stand against the enemies that would end us. Feed your faith, beloveds.

Before I was rescued to salvation, I studied stars, planets, sun, moon: trying to explain why things were as they were. Trying to project into future.
You are tuned into MEDIA news, Facebook, Twitter geniuses,Pharisees and politicians.
JESUS said I am the way, the TRUTH and the LIFE. Listen to Him!!! You're being led away.. Either you are in Jesus or not. Stop starving your spirit to death. You may be in the process of FALLING AWAY. He didn't promise us smooth sailing. We are hid in him. Slap on the jumper cables and restart your hearts. Walk up to the Goliath of your souls & launch the rock that explodes his brain. Feed on the Word. Bulk up! Turn off pathetic news. Jesus is the King!

Unlike others I have not come to debate. I find it strange and noteworthy that the passage describes a custom that was so obscure for so long that we use a Polynesian loanword to describe it. But look to the old King James where it could also mean do not draw on your body with ink that will wash off. Here I must trust the translator's insight.

  • Jesse - In Reply on Hebrews 10:29 - 6 years ago
This is not talking about a believer losing their salvation. The writer is speaking to unsaved Jews and telling them that if people died under the wrath of God for just violating the law of Moses, they will suffer greater punishment if they reject the Son of God, or consider the blood of the New Covenant of Christ to be an unholy thing, or insult the Holy Spirit when He comes and ministers the gospel of grace to them. This passage is talking about Jews who were hearing the message of salvation, but did not take the next step of receiving Christ for salvation, because if they did, they would be persecuted by their fellow Jews, kicked out of the temple, and even ostracized by their own kin.

1Cor 14:39 is clear: "....forbid not to speak in toungues." So we have nothing to say about it being past away, wrong, bad, good, or whatever; we simply "forbid not."

That service was kind to mine and Julies heart. I pray that all our church family is doing well and just know that we are all praying for them. Our Lord is Great and we shall prevail through this event. I sincerely look forward to seeing my church family again in our full glory of our Lord Jesus Christ. We love you all and just know our thoughts are with you.

If we look at what is happen right now today, how the whole world is being afflicted with this virus is God telling the world that He is now happy with our leaders today and His people. the sin of the world has reached to the heaven, America was build on God word and now America has turn it back on God, we have sin and activate a curse that is attach to the sin.
We're doing the same thing as forefather has done, we need to ask our self when are we going to wake up and see that God is not playing around, it's not one nations but the whole world, we have to many idol in our life and need to focus on the Lord.

I found the answer to the genealogy in Matthew Henry's commentary. Luke gave elements of Mary's genealogy as well as Joseph's that's why both accounts differ.
  • Rebeca Barrios on Hebrews 10:29 - 6 years ago
In Hebrews 10.29, the writer anticipates a "much sorer punishment." Some throughout history have interpreted this as a loss of salvation and an eternity in hell (lake of fire). Is this accurate? If so, how do we reconcile this with verses dealing with security? If not, what does the passage teach?
