    Blessings Josephus,

The Bible says that God caused a deep sleep to fall upon Adam; Genesis 2:21 . Where in scripture does it ever say he awakened? Therefore, how can he or anyone who inherits the Adamic nature have an awareness of receiving anything REAL while one is asleep. He, just as us, can only dream in a sleeping condition. And certainly we all realize dreams are what they are because of their illusion of reality.

Jesus strongly hinted of our sleeping condition: John 11:11 and Matthew 9:24 , where He also emphasized death should not be our concern, but rather sleep.

Also, many believe Jesus is God, meaning that God must have died on the cross. Yet, I don't think God can be killed or die. Nor do I believe can any of His Children whom He created. To believe so is literally a nightmare; a most frightening form of dreaming.

There is is no death because what God creates shares His Life. God is Life, therefore again, there is no death because an opposite to God does not exist. Only a mind asleep can have the frightening nightmare of a power that can oppose Him. Is it not possible that when we seemingly awaken in the morning from our dreams that we've merely shifted from one dream to another without really waking?

    God Is

    Peace

The simple answer is that He didn't create any other human beings as He did with Adam and Eve and of course Christ. He did create the souls of all men (I'll let you look up the verse where He states all the souls are mine). The oftentimes asked question as to where Cain got his wife would of course be answered as one of Adam's daughters not mentioned or one of his sisters as that sort of thing would have to occur with the first few generations of man; outlawed later. Through procreation God brings about the miracle of life; thus "replenishing the earth".

It appears from Genesis 6 that there were illegitamate relationships between angels and men giving the giants or "men of renown" which meant that only Noah was "pure in his generations" or genetically not messed up. Such offspring that the whole world was contaminated with would be unredeemable not being purely men genetically.

Agreed; I meant to say that those who were in the pleasant side of sheol (i.e. Abraham's bosom) such as Lazarus in the parable went to heaven (their souls did until the day of physical resurrection). The others were either wicked men or Nephilim (which Isaiah is supposed to refer to as never being able to be resurrected in an obscure verse). Christ's preaching was not to bring forth salvation; their state was already sealed; it was a declaration. Such will also be the case with everyone stating that Jesus Christ is Lord; in heaven and earth. I am sorry the way I wrote it was confusing.

Hi Josephus. Since your question is non-specific, my answer to that would be, 'darkness is always the default - the absence of light'. Light can either come from God or man-made; it is needed to dispel darkness. When we need darkness, we simply remove the light source; conversely, we can't remove darkness in any other way, because darkness always was.

Hebrews 6:4-6-- Jesus isn't gonna come die again. The scripture says it's impossible to be renewed if fallen away After receiving Jesus Then killing him again. This is a horrible scripture to think upon. Help us LORD that those you have called be chosen also.

    Hi Tammy,

You said; It was by their works that He never knew them.

But if you examine Matthew 7:16-23 carefully you'll see that it was them trusting in their works and not his work is why he never knew them.

vv 16 states "Ye shall know them by their fruits. Do men gather grapes of thorns, or figs of thistles?

Matthew 7:17-20 goes on to give you the contrast between the fruit and the thistles and what become of them.

There's dead works and there's fruit.

Thistles may be a sign of dead works.

Fruit is a work of God and performed by God that the believer bares by being connected to the vine. Philippians 1:6.

    Philippians 2:13.

This is what James is saying in James 2:18 "Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I WILL SHEW THEE MY FAITH BY MY WORKS."

A person wilfully continuing in sin is not saved, so you can't lose what you don't have.

James 3:19 reads; "Thou believest THAT THERE IS ONE GOD; thou doest well: THE DEVILS ALSO BELIEVE, AND TREMBLE.

    Believing there's a God doesn't save souls.

Also; Titus 1:16 reads; "THEY PROFESS THAT THEY KNOW GOD; but in works they deny him, being abominable, and disobedient, and unto every good work reprobate."

A profession doesn't save souls either.

Look at those professors described in the previous verse.

vv 15. "Unto the pure all things are pure: (BUT UNTO THEM THAT ARE DEFILED AND UNBELIEVING) is nothing pure; but even their mind and conscience is defiled."

If you can earn your salvation you can lose it.

If you can earn it you have no need of Christ, he came to loose the captives.

He didn't come to give instructions on how to live a saved life.( You can't. )

Salvation is him giving you life that produces fruit.

So shall we continue in sin? NO!

If you were baptized into Christ you are Identified with him and see sin the way he do.

This is what Romans chapters 6, 7, and 8 is all about.

    God bless.

A messenger of Satan (part 2).

It is vital; at this stage to reiterate that we must repent of unconfessed sin. God has designed it so that if we are not willing to do this there is great torment that can render us powerless in our walk. That is a warning to all those "confessions" of blessings "declared" on ourselves or others; it in reality brings a curse on us. The reason why is because we are in a Covenant with the Lord and therefore it is His end of the deal to not only save His people but sanctify us; "purging out the dross" ( Isaiah 1:25).

Part of the problem is that for some bizarre reason it seems to me that very few Christians shall we say overestimate Satan's threat to our well being. It seems strange since a die hard individual on the other camp doesn't seem to have too much difficulty believing in that reality; and occasionally is driven to faith in the Lord when one of his "bargains" with the enemy goes awry (his true colors are exposed). At face value; someone who seeks to kill; steal and destroy ( John 10:10) would be considered an enemy. Sometimes I think we take the love your enemies verse and twist it around; perhaps not to have sympathy for the devil; but to somehow dumb down how evil he is (probably in part because it makes our own comfortable lives in jeopardy realizing that reality). Since he is the power of the air as it were leading men astray; it should be held in conjunction with the fact that man is apart from Christ unable to do any good or as the Reformers state in "total depravity."

If we would focus on the cause rather than the effects of endless problems we see with our natural eyes in this fallen world

we may be able to live out a better walk with the Lord in our prayer lives.

Fear of death ( Hebrews 2:14-15) is something which I have struggled with; I know better but that is one of the enemies' favorite torments. God will deliver His people; but let us be diligent in prayer for ourselves and others as 1 Peter 5:9 says

    A messenger of Satan

When looking at the life of Paul ( 2 Cor. 12:17) or that of Job (focusing on chapter 1 and 2 with ramifications through the rest of the book) we see how Satan was actively interfering with and causing suffering for two great men of God. As we know Peter also was given thoughts from Satan ( Mark 8:33); and I recently brought up how that was very soon after something was revealed directly from the Holy Spirit; namely Christ's Divinity ( Matt. 16:17).

These verses give us two major concepts to ponder; first that those who are truly serving the Lord are going to be attacked; and secondly that in a way as a part of the suffering promised to us ( 2 Timothy 3:12) we can be assured that we are one of His own.

That ties into the series I am planning to put forth on assurance of salvation; but I am going to focus on this theme for a moment. I believe that it is fundamental in understanding Ephesians 6:12 and in general to how spiritual oppression and attacks shouldn't be ignored as what we will experience. In fact; all those who oppose us are more or less in league with the god of this world ( 2 Cor. 4:4; 1 Peter 4:12-19).

Okay; I am going to pursue this one avenue (I prevaricated above). Satan is the accuser of the brethren ( Rev. 12:10). Since He often begins with the mind dangling the carrot of temptations and the like; then accusing us when we succumb to it brings thoughts that we have of being lost; unworthy; or an overall fear as a result of his minions affecting us. We need to differentiate between a Holy Spirit conviction of John 16:8 and that of our accuser. Also; when we sin and don't seek forgiveness Satan acts as a usurper with the legal authority we have opened up and this is allowed by the Lord oftentimes to buffet us. There is a difference between embracing a lifestyle of sin and momentary lapses. Remember that worldly sin brings death; Godly sorrow leads to repentance. ( 2 Cor. 7:10).

Concluding thoughts on introduction to assurance of salvation.

I would appreciate for those few that regularly respond to my posts to keep these discussions in prayer. I suppose I could put a separate prayer request up; but you guys know who I am talking about here. It would be good for this to permeate to a larger audience. I will; of course ask for prayer on that happening not for my own ego but because there are many who need to have a healthy assurance of salvation; and others who need to wrestle it out; as it were like Jacob with the Angel of God. How bad to we want the blessing; or how bad do we want Jesus? This is not wrong to pursue; as the persistent widow parable states. Sadly (speaking for myself) I spend much of my time asking for things that aren't His will and that is usually due to my heart condition rather than any obvious worldly desire as I wouldn't want to do something that stupid asking for a rebuke. I don't think I'm alone here; I sense that many have hearts that have turned cold and distant so that the concept of a loving God seems like an ecclesiastical topic on an esoteric plane rather than a daily living reality. Ugh; I suppose I'm worse off than I want to admit so I'll take any prayer I can get.

Living out what is truly our living Hope should be done with love; joy; peace; longsuffering and the like. I feel at this juncture that I should ask you guys to pray that my heart is in the same place with my mind; which I feel has been trained to function at some proficiency in meting out the Word as a Berean and in a balanced manner. I want to warn about emotions and things other than the Word and Spirit ( Romans 8:16) giving us assurance. Those who know me here are aware somewhat of my personal struggles living with unsaved parents at present; and scars from a divorce years ago. Isaiah 53:5 is something I feel I must live out more effectively.

Anyway; as I said I hope this generates further discussion on an important topic.

Introduction to the concept of eternal assurance; "once saved always saved".

I have seen currently individuals who are knowledgeable in the Word and who seem to love the Lord who argue that we can lose our salvation. I don't feel comfortable fellowshipping where that is the standard doctrine; although the conviction level for holiness seems commendable to me. Nonetheless; the enemy an cause havoc for those who would be in despair and perhaps self destructive over that type of message. Equally as concerning are those who are allowing certain sins; particularly those who support a lifestyle of sin in the church today holding onto what many call a "hyper grace" mentality. First and foremost; of course we are to test ourselves to see if we are in the faith and DO something about it if not. ( 2 Cor. 13:5). Those who are His; of course willl hear His voice ( John 10:16) and be taught by God ( John 6:45).

Blessed assurance is something which must transcend this world; and our love for God supersede any other affections and loyalties for us to be a true disciple of God ( Matt. 10:37-38). If we love Him we will obey His commandments ( John 14:15); this is a verse I have repeated quite often lately on this site.

I would make a basic comment at present that those who are His sense His love; and also recognize that when being chastised ( Hebrews 12:6). When the Spirit is grieved ( Eph 4:30-31) a true follower of Christ will be aware of it; after all He has made His (actually OUR) abode in these individuals ( John 14:23). It is also true that those who are unbelievers cannot love God but they certainly can fear Him. In today's society; however it is likely that such boldness in rebellion in the world is tied into the lack of fear of the Lord in churches. The compromised Gospel and lifestyles today I will tackle in future posts.

The book of John is something I have already covered sometime last year in detail as to the many examples proving Predestination.

    Assurance of salvation

This being the Sunday where we honor Jesus' Resurrection; I don't want to delve too deeply into a new subject of controversy to stimulate discussion. I am planning; Lord willing to tackle the topic of "once saved; always saved" in terms of what (in the correct sense) that means; and what it doesn't mean. Ephesians 2:6-7 seems to indicate that we are in some sense "already raised" with Him; and glorification seems to be the final result of a saved individual after glorification according to Romans 8:30. That also; BTW matches up with John 3:16 with an ongoing (as the Greek indicates) process; rather than someone who believes in a mere confession never dying. These verses fit into the first concept that those who are called and chosen have what we may call undue "favor" on their lives; preserved on this earth until in time and space a verbal confession and change of heart occurs ( Romans 10:9). Also it is a continuing process of sanctification; resulting in good fruit being produced. I will fill in more scripture later on based on that topic.

A basic stumbling block is those who say that any sin can make us disqualified to enter heaven. 1 John 1:10 should be a clear rebuttal of that; and Paul's letters to the Corinthians who clearly were manifesting "carnal" behavior as well as other warnings about losing reward and getting into heaven as though through the fire ( 1 Cor. 3:15) show that there is a more complex theology involving not just the saved and lost but those who are at various levels in their walk. It appears; however that those who are exposed to any truth are held accountable and judged in a harsher manner ( Matt. 11:21 for example).

There are many sections of scripture such as large portions of Hebrews which are very challenging; my Dake's Bible has many hundreds of verses that make it seem we can lose our salvation; some of which are more easily refuted than others.

    Spiritual Truth - Part 1

The Word of God teaches us in 1 Cor. 2:14 that the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them because they are spiritually discerned.

This is why those communicating their messages in this 'forum' so often use the word 'discerning' while the 'Word of God' is not of any private interpretation ( 2 Peter 1:20). This is why it also teaches; that anyone that is spiritual judgeth all things, yet he himself is judged of no man ( 1 Cor. 2:15).

Please remember, the words from the 'Word of God' are according to the 'Spirit of Truth' ( John 14:17). Furthermore, the Spirit of truth cannot be received by this world ( John 14:17) as this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9).

Please study the 'Word of God' and learn of the difference between the 'natural' and the 'spiritual' body ( 1 Cor. 15:44) and how and by whom this whole world has been deceived ( Rev. 12:9).

Seek, and ye shall find ( Matthew 7:7).

It is God's will for all men to be saved, and to come unto the knowledge of the truth ( 1 Timothy 2:4), but not everyone that saith unto me, Lord, Lord, shall enter into the kingdom of heaven; but he that doeth the will of my Father which is in heaven ( Matthew 7:21).

Many will say unto me that day, Lord, Lord, have we not prophesied in thy name? And in thy name have cast out devils? And in thy name done many wonderful works? ( Matthew 7:22).

And then will I profess unto them I never knew you: depart from me, ye that work iniquity ( Matthew 7:23). If you would like to know who by nature your Father is, may we suggest you read John 8::43-45.

    S. Spencer,

Have a blessed day in remembering our Lord's Resurrection today. How glorious is this event that justifies us.

I think that the Triune nature of God is a deep mystery that we cannot fully know in this life. But, we can believe and proclaim what the Scriptures makes clear about this most important aspect of His nature, being one God in substance and three distinct persons in eternal relationship with one another in the Godhead. This is the God we know and worship. This is the Only God revealed in Scriptures. This is the Only God who will ever be. And this is the God who saves us.
