God bless you brother.
But I hear what you're saying. If indeed the Holy Spirit speaks to our hearts from the Word, as He does in whatever other way that seems good to Him, then the Word we read must be true & faithful to the actual words & events that took place & recorded for us. Often I think, 'how wonderful it would be if every new born believer was strongly encouraged to learn Hebrew & Greek (at least at the elementary level), that we might have a stronger understanding of the Word'. Maybe some of our questions & disputes could easily be settled at that level. The KJV translators have done a remarkable work in translating from the original manuscripts, as many of them were skilled in these languages; but by using verbiage that was in vogue at that time, can at times be misunderstood or even misleading today, if the original language is unlearned.
A classic example is found in Psalm 82 where the mention of God & gods (in verses 1 & 6) are the same Hebrew word, Elohim. Yet, that word is not strictly confined to always mean the One True God, and can also refer to divine beings, other gods/goddesses, judges, & mighty rulers. But the Hebrew reader would understand this broad meaning, but will also know its specific meaning in the context of the verses. As we see in verse 1, that the One Holy God who "judges among the gods", immediately reprimands these 'gods' for judging unjustly & showing partiality. And again in verse 6, these same judges, given special appointment by God, will be dealt with greater harshness.
And yes , I would only read from the KJV, but have to admit that if a new believer or seeker of Truth finds he is unable to grasp that 17th Century English style of writing, then I would allow him, with caution, to read the Bible in modern English.
This is some passages I clearly overlooked!
Luke 13:23-24.
Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he said unto them,
Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, AND SHALL NOT BE ABLE.
There's no way to spin this towards a universal salvation.
God bless.
Yes, I'm concerned that they might turn them away from the site, or stand in the way of truth and impact their growth.
Especially kids and young adults.
But of someone of age you might see clarity of scripture performed right before your eyes.
However when you look at those verses along with others like
1 Corinthians 11:19 "For there must be also heresies among you, THAT THEY WHICH ARE APPROVED MAY BE MADE MANIFEST AMONG YOU.
And.
1 John 2:19 "They went out from us, but they were not of us; for if they had been of us, they would no doubt have continued with us: but they went out, THAT THEY MIGHT BE MADE MANIFEST THAT THEY WERE NOT ALL OF US."
If i interpret those right, you must come to the conclusion that God is in control and there won't be no excuses.
That wide gate seems to have a lot of appeal to some.
These decievers and those that follow them is all a part of God's sifting program.
Am I interpreting this right?
I'm really not sure.
Thank you and others for all your
help. God bless.
Hopefully these are helpful
Psalms 1:1-3, Proverbs 3:5,6, Luke 6,
Hope this is helpful
The secret place: Psalms 91, = 1Samuel 22:1, 2Samuel 23:13, Psalms 57:1, Psalms 142:1,
Another secret place : Matthew 6,
Hopefully these are helpful
I did not type the word nave. I typed naive but somehow it showed up nave. In case it does it again when I hit the submit but, it should say naive (pronounced Nigh-Eve)
You has said something a few days ago (I can't find it) but it had to do with false teaching and how it might impact those who might be new believers.
Anyways, in my study today in Romans, a couple of verses pinged my memory and got me thinking about this.
Romans 16:17 says, Now I appeal to you, brethren, and listen to this, the command:
Mark them which cause divisions and offences.
The word mark is the work SKOPOS. We get our word scope from this word. And it is in present participle form in the Greek, which means continue to observe.
Be continually looking at those who cause divisions and offenses (SCANDALONS) contrary to the doctrine which you have learned.
Paul said in Galatians Chapter 1 that if anybody preaches any other gospel than that which he has preached, let them be accursed.
That's pretty bold and authoritative. If they preach contrary to the doctrine which Paul has taught and has given them, mark them. That's command number one. Command number two is avoid them. The word avoid means to go out of your way to avoid them.
Romans 16:18 gives us the characteristics of these people:
For they are such as serve not our Lord Jesus Christ, but their own belly; which is a term that is used for their own satisfaction.
And by good words.
Interesting. This is the word useful. With useful words and fair speeches (and this is the word eulogy) they deceive the hearts of the simple.
The word simple in the Greek text means nave. With useful words and fair speeches, they deceive the people who are nave.
These are those who may be the most vulnerable to any teaching that might be contrary to scripture.
Any thoughts?
We make work with the world in their sleeping state but once we have attempted, any fellowshipping with them outside of Gods increase for them is a no no. We are to separate. Much love sister stay strong
Do you believe when your body dies, you will instantly be translated into the presence of God?
The Word preaches a kingdom of God, the Jews were looking for that kingdom and the king of it.
What they fail to see was that that kingdom was going to be without end, therefore it was necessary for death to be abolished.
They missed Christ as their redeemer, because they fail to see the necessity of HIS RESURRECTION,
Christ had to die and be raised to conquer death, so the kingdom could be without end, never ending.
The old had to be made new, and God chose to do away with the Levitical presthood and use the tribe of Judah, to be the new preisthood.
Before he can reinstate the kingdom back on earth, he must assemble all the priest he has called out.
These priest have to be given immortality, so they can serve eternally as priest in the kingdom. The called and chosen were given the gift of immortality by being raise with Christ in his resurrection.
Isaiah 26:19 ...together with my dead body shall they arise ...
Revelation 29:6 Blessed and holy is he who hath part in the first resurrection ....
All this is God's work, man is just the heir, he chooses at random, not out of loving one more than another.
Ezekiel 20:37 And I will cause you to pass under the rod, and I WILL bring you to the bond of the new covenant (immortality)
We have to be created again into the exact likeness of Christ to be a priest in the new kingdom, immortal and no corruption.
This is what the passover in the old coventent implied, blood on the house, and death passed over, we are the house of God, the new temple, in the new kingdom, Christ blood over us causes death to Passover, we are instantly translated into the kingdom, presence of God. This is the millennial reign with Christ, while he gathers the priesthood. It's not literally 1000 years, just the one day, the day of the Lord.
God Bless You as we are given light.
Luke 13:27 - But he shall say, I tell you, I know you not whence ye are; depart from me, all ye workers of iniquity (Literally unrighteousness).
These are those who have rejected Christ. They will not be allowed in.
Luke 13:28 - Speaking of those who are unsaved: "There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out."
Luke 13:29 - Speaking of those who are saved: And they shall come from the east, and from the west, and from the north, and from the south, and shall sit down in the kingdom of God.
Luke 13:30 - This verse is the key to this section. It says, "And, behold, there are last which shall be first, and there are first which shall be last."
The application is that people are going to come from the east, west, north, and south. Other nations, the Gentiles, are going to come in and the end result is that a Hebrew or Jewish person that has rejected Christ, they are going to think "We are Hebrews, we are Jews, we are God's chosen people, and we should be there."
And He (Jesus) is saying no, the first will be last and the last be first. You will see many Gentiles enter in to the banqueting feast, but you yourself cast out!
Luke 13:22 - And he (Jesus) went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem.
Luke 13:23 - Then said one unto him, Lord, are there few that be saved? And he (Jesus) said unto them,
Now why is this person is asking this question? It is like this person is telling Jesus, "We get the idea from you, from listening to your teachings that there are not very many people that are going to be saved because you just eliminated 99% of the people. Are there few that be saved?
Luke 13:24 - Jesus says, " Strive to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able."
The word "strive" is the word AGONIDZO where we get the word agonize from. Agonize to enter in at the strait gate: for many, I say unto you, will seek to enter in, and shall not be able.
That is when this life is over. Jesus said in Matthew that the way of destruction, the gate is Broad, the road is broad. But the narrow gate and the straight road, and He says that there are very few that find it. So do you think that Jesus made it easy?
Only those people that had a heart for Him are the only ones that are going to go through that narrow gate and walk that straight road and give up the only life that they have by surrendering their life to Christ.
Luke 13:25 - When once the master of the house is risen up, and hath shut to the door, and ye begin to stand without, and to knock at the door, saying, Lord, Lord, open unto us; and he shall answer and say unto you, I know you not whence ye are:
Luke 13:26 - Then shall ye begin to say, We have eaten and drunk in thy presence, and thou hast taught in our streets.
"Hey, didn't we eat dinner with you at the Pharisees house? And we drank in your presence, and you taught in our streets. You were at that street evangelism sermon that we heard."
Will continue as Part 2
I would like to add that we continue to grow and share as we go.
A teacher shares what he has gleaned from scripture by the revelation of the Spirit.
Everyone that shares is not a teacher but plays a profitable role in ministry. I myself is no teacher but one who shares what I believe.
There's a difference in being taught the word of God, and the word of God teaching us.
There should be production taken place "fruitfulness displayed" by virtue of the truth. I believe this is why Jesus says "You shall know them by their fruit.
There should be a shaping taken place that displays a connection to the vine, so their draw should be more than just doctrine.
Thanks and God bless.
I often think about this. What if the sinful nature did not pass down to each human. Would there ever be anyone who lived life without sin? I think not. If Adam had not sinned then, he would have sinned later. If we did not have the sinful nature in us we would be influenced by the sinfulness of others and succumb to sinning. So, God was not being harsh when He consigned every human over to unbelief and disobedience. In doing so, no man can ever think or say that they were completely righteous and worthy of eternal life let alone be the savior of others. No man can pay the price for every human. It took the Son of God becoming THE Man to save us. Only God can pay the infinite penalty of humanity's incalculable wickedness in our sins which were an infinite offense to Him. And only a perfect human could be an approved substitute for mankind.
When we are resurrected, we will be glorified and be made perfect in our humanity, like the humanity of Jesus. But Jesus will always be, not only the perfect human, but also God. We will be like Him in His humanity, but never like Him in His divinity.
There is only one God (Father, Son, and Holy Spirit) and He is One LORD. ( Deut. 6:4) Let us worship Him as He has revealed Himself to be, not how we "make" Him to be. We must guard against idolatry, whether false beliefs about Him or the false belief that we will ever be like Him in His Godhood. "You shall have none other gods before Me". ( Deut. 5:7)
Lord, help us to "lay down our idols and the thrones we have made, all that has taken your place. Lord, I will bow to You, to no other God, but You alone." (from the Song Lord, I Will Bow to You)
When God created Adam and Eve (the first two humans) they soon disobeyed Him, believing the lie of Satan that they would be like God if they ate of the forbidden tree. Adam and Eve did not know what sin was, and did not know that disobedience would make them more like the tempter and unlike God. God knew this would happen, and before creation the Godhead chose to become the Savior of mankind by grace through the vicarious death of the Son of God after He incarnated in human form.
Another decision that the Godhead made before creation was to commit every human person over to disobedience and unbelief in order to have mercy upon humankind. ( Romans 11:32) He decided that the sinful nature would be passed on to every human when a new person is conceived. From conception, every human is corrupted by sin. With this one exception: Jesus was conceived by the power of God, not by the input of man, so He was not conceived with a sin nature. He remained the holy, pure, undefiled Son of God from conception on. He never sinned, never mis-spoke or made a mistake, ever.
because every other human was corrupted by the sinful nature, no one but Jesus could be the Saviour of Mankind. He alone of all humanity was without sin. No one else would qualify to be the perfect human to die for the sins of humanity, not an angel, not an animal, but the pure and spotless Son of God was the perfect sacrifice for our sins.
Sometimes we get very caught up in the death and resurrection of Jesus that we forget what qualified Him to be our sacrifice to take away the sins of the world. It wasn't because He loved us, or that He could just decide to do so. No, it was because He was perfect in all of His ways as God and as a man. We should look to Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, at Who He is and how He lived and died for us. It was all for us - to the glory of God.
