and keep you in perfect peace This means that you will be with love in your heart which cannot torment you because God is love. you will be made perfect as a new creation because his spirit dwells in us. And This happens when you repent and believe in him.
1 john 4:13
13 By this we know that we abide in Him, and He in us, because He has given us of His Spirit.
Also, it's important to remember that Jesus is the light
John 1:5 The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has not overcome[a] it.
Pray and ask for more understanding God is faithful to shows us amen
Dear Heavenly Father, we ask in Jesus' name for healing for Ioan mom's leg pain. We ask that You clear up whatever is causing this pain, whether an infection, inflammation, nerve pain, or other problem that would make her leg painful. Father, we ask that You bring this mom comfort and good rest. Amen.
Dear LORD God, we ask that You bring to Jackie and her husband knowledge of what is causing his pain and also the best treatment for him so that He will recover his health. Also, LORD, Care for Jackie as she lives with heart failure. We are asking for healing for both Jackie and her husband, in the name of Jesus, who is our salvation and only hope. Amen.
Thank You, this is helpful.
Our faith is something that we tender to all of our life if Christ. We are to be careful to keep it strong towards Christ, especially in times of trial. But it is the Holy Spirit who helps us continue to believe, trust, and rely on Jesus in all circumstances. Our faith is a precious possession because Jesus is the object of our faith. He is the most valuable Person to entrust ourselves to in life. There are many ways we can grow our faith, primarily in studying of the Word, but also in fellowship with other believers, in being attuned to the move of the Holy Spirit, and in communing with God in prayer and worship.
Our God hears all of your prayers and will provide for your needs. I agree with you today for the salvation of all those you have mentioned.
Dear Heavenly Father, Ruben is standing in the gap for these loved ones who need the salvation only You can give. I stand with Ruben in the name of Jesus for these people also. We ask that You soften their hearts and enlightened their souls, and convict them of their sin, and point them to Jesus. May Your mercy and grace draw them to You and bring to each one the salvation that comes only from You in Jesus Christ. Amen.
There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear: because fear hath torment. He that feareth is not made perfect in love.
A quick recap , when Assuming you've read the chapter , and learnig the Love of God ,,, Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have (boldness) in the day of judgment: because as he is, so are we in this world.
The only thing we have to fear is, fear itself , fear shows lack of faith , lack of faith shows lack of trust , fear shows weakness , fear hath torment , fear causes worry , worry makes bad decisions .
Are we to have Love made perfect in this world, as he is , casting out fear , having boldness ?
It's something I think we all have to be mindful of seeing how the darts come at us from all angles , and they don't wear a sign saying hey I work for the other guy !
Verses 9 through 11 show how once again the armies of Israel were being defeated. Verse 11 has a similar tone to verse 22 which appears in a statement by Paul in regard to the Apostles being persecuted ( Romans 8:36). It is also true that Chris Himself was led like this as prophesied in Isaiah 53:7. Evidence of being sold into slavery is in verse 12. Verse 16 talks of the voice o he who blasphemes; that could be true of the Assyrian king as well as Antichrist in the future. Evidently in this case; adherance to the covenant or worship of false gods at this time was NOT an issue (v. 20).
The rest of the Psalm (verses 23-26) seem to indicate that God appears to have taken a sabbatical so to speak in regard to action to deliver His people. This is the affect of the Godly remnant who remain on the earth in the end times in particular. The time of "Jacob's trouble" necessitates a trial; but His people will eventually be delivered out of it. Even verses in Deuteronomy mention tribulation and that God is still present at that time. Despite all the attempts of the enemy the Lord has a plan for His people that cannot fail ultimately.

Therefore, faith rests upon the Word of God. Our dogmatism comes from the Book. That is the reason the writer to the Hebrews said in Hebrews 10:39, "But we are not of them who draw back unto perdition; but of them that believe to the saving of the soul." There are only two ways to go. Either you are going backwards, or you are going to go forwards. Anything that is alive cannot stand still. Out yonder in the forest there is regression and deterioration taking place, but there is also growth and development. Nothing alive out there is standing still - it cannot.
"The evidence of things not seen." In the Greek the word is elegchos. It is a legal term meaning "evidence that is accepted for conviction." When I was studying classical Greek in college, I observed that this word is used about twenty-three times in Plato's account of the trial of Socrates. Evidence is something you take into court to prove your case.
Faith is not a leap in the dark. Faith is not a "hope so." Faith is substance and evidence - substance for a scientific mind, and evidence for a legal mind. If you really want to believe, you can believe. You can believe a whole lot of foolish things, but God doesn't want you to do that. He wants your faith to rest upon the Word of God.

Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. ( Hebrews 11:1)
The Greek word for "substance" is hupostasis. It is a scientific term, the opposite of hypothesis or theory. It is that which rests upon facts. In chemistry it would be the chemical which settles at the bottom of the test tube after you have made an experiment. Dr. A. T. Robertson translates substance as "title deed." What is the title deed? What is the substance? It is the Word of God, my friend. If your faith does not rest upon the Word of God, it is not biblical faith at all. It has to rest upon what God says. Actually, it means to believe God.
The question is whether you believe God or not. Don't come up with the "I've got intellectual problems" excuse, because that won't work. The thing that keeps men from the Word of God is sin. It is sin in your life that keeps you from coming to God. It is the heart that needs to believe - it is "the heart that believeth unto righteousness." When you are ready to give up your sin, the Holy Spirit will make real to you the Word of God.
Paul wrote to the Colossian believers, "For this cause we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to desire that ye might be filled with the knowledge of his will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding" ( Colossians 1:9). To know the will of God is to know the Word of God. He prayed that they might know the Word of God. The Greek word for "knowledge" which Paul used is epignosis. There were Gnostics in that day who professed to have super knowledge. Paul told the Colossians that he wanted them to have super knowledge which was genuine by knowing that the Bible is the Word of God, and he believed that the Holy Spirit would make it real to them.

Great and important question Gigi!
At the same time can get really confusing!
There's what we call saving faith. We're saved by grace " Through faith". Ephesians 2:8. Here's an element of election with the faith being performed is actually supplied by the Spirit. It is obvious everyone is not supplied with it; however, the invite goes out to everyone. God knew who would believe.
Is believing what it takes to initiate God's faith to the believer? Are they separate? Are they the same?
Here's a few verses where believing is used in the Bible. It's obvious when it comes to salvation It's "what" you believe not just believing in God as seen here in James 2:19.
And then we have John 6:28-28 and Romans 10:9-10 Where belief is directed towards something specific.
God given faith is a fruit and is accompanied with other fruit.
There are results in God given faith as seen here in James 2:14-18.
Faith is not trusting in something! It's trusting in someone and that's the Lord.
Believing is not believing in something It's believing on someone and that's the Lord. We are to believe on the promise given to Abraham as mentioned here in Galatians 3:16-22. We are heirs of the promise by faith as Isaac as mentioned in Galatians 4:28.
We are given a promise by God and given faith to believe in that promise.
The invitation goes out to all as mentioned in 1 John 2:2.
Everyone is given the ability to comprehend that light as mentioned in John 1:4-8. "But all will not"
A person has to fall upon that rock and know he needs a savior.
This is where the 10 commandments come into play. The commandments were meant to drive one to Christ. Some from out of darkness and some from dead works.
Part 2 an article from J Vernon Mcgee.
In Acts 2:1, "when the day of Pentecost was fully come", we find that the apostles had planned to be together in "one place". We don't find them bringing in their wheat harvest as required in celebration of Shavuot, or even participating in any celebrations pertaining to it, but rather, in waiting together on the appointed day for the coming of the Holy Spirit as Jesus instructed them ( Luke 24:49). So, the mention of them being together on Pentecost, simply meant that that was the day so appointed for them to gather (50 days after Passover).
Acts 10:11-15. It would take time & probably several lessons to completely extract the demands of the Old Covenant from the apostles & those of the Jews who had come to faith in Christ. But the vision that Peter saw & interpreted to him by Jesus, was not confined to clean & unclean foods, but to what the Jews regarded as anyone outside Jewry to be unclean ( Acts 10:28; Galatians 2:11-17). These were no doubt difficult lessons to learn, as things that are not of faith in Christ are removed from our minds & hearts. I know that I had to re-learn & deal with several issues after leaving the old life behind in 1979.
The Commandments. There's a difference in keeping the Commandments & keeping the Commandments to save us. Colossians 2:14, "Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross". I understand that when the 'handwriting of ordinances' were removed & nailed, it didn't make God's Law obsolete & irrelevant; rather, the Law that once revealed to man his sin & condemned him without giving him a plan of escape, was finally nailed to the Cross where Jesus' Sacrifice now brought Mercy & Salvation. Since the Cross, we are to obey every commandment (& many more by the ministry & help of the Holy Spirit) - but those commands that are relevant for those found in Christ.
You are ALL in my prayers tonight.
Along with what Baker says, there are many places in the Scriptures that speak a name for God that reveals an aspect of His Being. Jesus said in Matthew 28:19 to baptize in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit. These are names of God, revealing Him as a Triune Being. So, Christians can call on the Father, or on the Son, Jesus, or on the Holy Spirit, We can call Him Adonai, El Shaddai, YHWH Jireh, etc. He hears us when we call on His name, whichever name best fits the purpose for us calling upon Him.
As a simple man, my understanding of faith is based on belief, trust, obedience, and thanksgiving, from our mind to our heart, a relationship offered by God through the sacrifice and resurrection of His Son Jesus, and the gift of the Holy Spirit.
Faith is a responsibility likened to marriage referred to many times in the bible. Our commitment and love are shown by our actions, which come from our hearts to our hands as in James 2:14-17 which is sometimes misunderstood as works for salvation.
This faith is a gift we have been given, its growth is dependent on how it is fed. Jesus said faith as small as a mustard seed can move a mountain, that shows how large it can grow in the word of God and prayer. We can sometimes hinder its growth as said in Col. 2:8 following the majority down the wide road when the truth is down the path that has grown up from the lack of traffic.
It will be tried, we have been told we will be tempted and will have tribulation in this world that many say we will be spared, John 16:33 Acts 14:22, but that builds patience, James 1:3. We see we will need if we are here, we will need in the great tribulation Rev. 13:10.
The growth of our faith is to add "virtue; and to virtue knowledge; And to knowledge temperance; and to temperance patience; and to patience godliness; And to godliness brotherly kindness; and to brotherly kindness charity' 2 Peter 1:4-8.
This may not be what you are looking for but just my thoughts.
God bless,
RLW
And for each and every one who prays for him may our Lord bless each one.
The concept that Christ was bringing forth when the Parable of the man beating his breasts and saying "God be merciful to me a sinner" and walking away justtified as compared to the proud; self rightous Pharisee demonstrates how we are not saved by any of our own works of righteousness. That characterizes those who would come to Christ; the poor; downtrodden and the despised Gentiles and Samaritans (sinners and "winebibbers" as the Pharisees ridiculed Christ for hanging out with). He gives grace to the humble; that is another verse someplace :(.
There is an argument as to the concept of "common grace". That is; what I define scripturally as God "raining on the just and the unjust". It certainly can be stated that in this brief vapor of life that we have existence on earth currently there are certain comforts that will desert the wicked eternally after this life is over. According to Lamentations; His mercies are renewed daily.
The sad and scary thought is that those in the world today without Christ are completely unaware or willfully blind of their dire spiritual state. Clearly the true story (that's how I define it) of the "parable" of Lazarus and the rich man demonstrate what awaits those who die without the Lord. We; although the "scum of the earth" as Paul put it or like Jeremiah described in the worst calamity of Israel imaginable still can claim as Paul did "to live is Christ; die is gain." Perhaps grace is defined by the Deut. 29:29 concept; the mysterious consel of the Godhead (as we are all vile; wicked sinners saved by grace). In time and space we may express our understanding of His favor as mercy?
The last thought I have is that faith is also a spiritual gift. As all good gifts come from above; God initiates repentance as scripture makes clear (granting repentance that RESULTS in a person turning from sins.) Or; ANY faith that is NOT coming from the "Father of lights" is either our own imaginations; self effort or from the "father of lies." True faith is TRUST; and holding Christ as Lord; savior AND Master.
