    Acts 2: 1-4

"And when the day of Pentecost was fully come, they were all with one accord in one place. And suddenly there came a sound from heaven as of a rushing mighty wind, and it filled all the house where they were sitting. And there appeared unto them cloven tongues like as of fire, and it sat upon each of them. And they were all filled with the Holy Ghost, and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit gave them utterance." (This blessing was meant for the church, then and always.)

    Acts 19: 1-7

"And it came to pass, that, while Apollos was at Corinth, Paul having passed through the upper coasts came to Ephesus: and finding certain DISCIPLES. He said unto them, Have ye received the Holy Ghost since ye believed? And they said unto him, We have not so much as heard whether there be any Holy Ghost. And he said unto them, Unto what then were ye baptized? And they said, Unto John's baptism. Then said Paul, John verily baptized with the baptism of repentance, saying unto the people, that they should believe on him which should come after him, that is, on Christ Jesus. When they heard this, they were baptized in the name of the Lord Jesus. And when Paul had laid his hands upon them, the Holy Ghost came on them; and they spake with tongues, and prophesied. And all the men were about twelve." These men weren't part of the upper room gathering or they would already been filled with the Holy Ghost.

    John 8:11b

"And Jesus said unto her, Neither do I condemn thee: go, and SIN NO MORE and:

John 5:14, "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: SIN NO MORE, lest a worse thing come unto thee."

So what do the scriptures tell us that sin is?

    1 John 3:4

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

    Colossians 3:1-4

"If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God. Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth. For ye are dead (to sin) (my emphasis) and your life is hid with Christ in God. When Christ, who is our life, shall appear, then shall ye also appear with him in glory."

    Gal 5:24

"And they that are Christ's have crucified the flesh with the affections and lusts. If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit."

    Heb 2:11

"For both he that sanctifieth and they who are sanctified are all of one: for which cause he is not ashamed to call them brethren," (How does gradual sanctification bring us one with God?

    1 Peter 2:24

"Who his own self bare our sins in his own body on the tree, that we, being DEAD TO SIN, should live unto righteousness: by whose stripes ye were healed."

    1 Peter 4: 1-

"Forasmuch then as Christ hath suffered for us in the flesh, arm yourselves likewise with the same mind: for he that hath suffered in the flesh hath ceased from sin; That he no longer should live the rest of his time in the flesh to the lusts of men, but to the will of God."

Of course, we can't be like Adam was in the Garden of Eden before he sinned. But now, because of Adam's sin, mankind is born with original sin, human nature, the old man, but God removes that human nature, the desire to sin, with sanctification and the infilling of the Holy Ghost. That's why God's word commands us to be free of sin and then He made the way through the death and resurrection of His Son, Jesus Christ for us to be free. His word says that the sin nature must be destroyed (*to put out of existence: kill) /crucified, (*to destroy the power of) so we can live a holy life.

    *Miriam-Webster Dictionary

    1 John 3:4

"Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law."

    1 Thessalonians 4:1-5

"Furthermore then we beseech you, brethren, and exhort you by the Lord Jesus, that as ye have received of us how ye ought to walk and to please God, so ye would abound more and more. For ye know what commandments we gave you by the Lord Jesus. For this is the will of God, even your sanctification, that ye should abstain from fornication: That every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour."

    Matt.18:14 "Power of One"

"Even so it is not the will of your Father which is in heaven, that one of these little ones should perish."

Speaking of the Will we have in this prayer of Jesus, the utter sorrow of our Savior Lord over Judas, "While I was with them in the world, I kept them in thy name: those that thou gavest me I have kept, and none of them is lost, but the son of perdition; that the scripture might be fulfilled."( John 17:12). 'That the scripture might be fulfilled' refers to the blessings written in the covenant. (Ge.1:28) God blessed them at one lever was about Christ and the church. "Male and female created he them" applied to each believer who stood equally in direct frame of reference to the Wisdom principle (female) and also the Power principle.(Male). In the Lord's prayer we have the power and glory, in which this glory is a constant reminder of the body of Christ. "For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and the glory, for ever. Amen." Forever is a tag for the Son. While we say 'Amen' we are declaring the creed of being one with the Faithful and true witness. When a believer treats like a nostrum and mumbles on auto-pilot mode it is a pointer to the imposter religion salvaged from a pagan cult of Rome has spread inroads into one's worship. Similar to the joy in heaven over one soul finding way back to the sheepfold we are witnessing Jesus with his fan ready to cast the chaff where the wind shall take where it will.

In the king's dream the ten toes tell the miry clay mixt with iron is under judgment. Like the stone cut not with hands judgment should come in series of shocks. there is an earth quake, and the tenth part of the city fell, it is what we read in Re.18:21. Seven thousand of men (7x1000) speaks it is predetermined. The hour of his judgment,- And there followed another angel, saying, Babylon is fallen, is fallen," Babylon is interchangeable with Jerusalem. (Re.11:8). Loss of even one is diminishment to the glory of God.

    Re.11:13 Judgment

"And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven." (v.13)

At the same hour refers to the hour Jesus spoke about at the night he was taken in. ( Luke 22:53)It is the power of darkness that caused the nation of Israel reject the true Light and the time of the Gentiles before the Son appeared in mid-air to collect. "and they shall see the Son of man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory./ And he shall send his angels with a great sound of a trumpet, and they shall gather together his elect from the four winds, from one end of heaven to the other."(24:30-31)

The ministry of the two witnesses has the same duration as the day decreed for the Son. John the Baptist was sent according to the Scriptures as a voice preparing the way. "Behold, I will send my messenger, and he shall prepare the way before me: and the Lord, whom ye seek, shall suddenly come to his temple, even the messenger of the covenant, whom ye delight in: behold, he shall come, saith the Lord of hosts./But who may abide the day of his coming? "(Mal.3:1-2) Purifiers work refers to the great tribulation. The script for the day of his coming consists of several phases which is clearly laid out in Matt.3:13. "Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."

The chaff shall be cast to the winds. (the imposter church), purging his floor is the earth(*the left behind church), and it leads to the unquenchable fire. "And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever."(Re.20:10). * Cf the vision of the Woman Clothed with the Sun and she is sent to a place prepared for her. "(12:14)

    Who are these two witnesses?

In the wilderness the Israelites were led by pillar of cloud and of fire. They represent the two witnesses in Re.11. Baptism of water and of fire: one is John and the other 'an angel' the little one could be any saint, representing the world of the body prepared for the Son.

    Matt.17:13 Conclusion

"Then the disciples understood that he spake unto them of John the Baptist."

John according to Jesus Christ was the greatest among born of women, "Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." (Matt.11:11). In order to understand the two witnesses we are to focus on John as one, who also referred to the baptism of fire that awaits the church. He foretold, " He (Jesus Christ) shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost, and with fire:/ Whose fan is in his hand, and he will throughly purge his floor, and gather his wheat into the garner; but he will burn up the chaff with unquenchable fire."(3:11-12)

The Baptism by Holy Ghost has been fulfilled and what awaits is baptism by fire to which Apostle Peter also referred, "For the timeis comethat judgment must begin at the house of God: and ifitfirstbeginat us, what shall the endbeof them that obey not the gospel of God?"(1 Pe.4:17). St Paul also warns and it is to the imposter church, "Every man's work shall be made manifest: for the day shall declare it, because it shall be revealed by fire; and the fire shall try every man's work of what sort it is./ If any man's work abide which he hath built thereupon, he shall receive a reward./If any man's work shall be burned, he shall suffer loss: but he himself shall be saved; yet so as by fire."(1 Co.3:13-15)

In the Ch.18 the same question of the greatest in the kingdom of heaven threw up another aspect of John. Jesus said, "He that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he." The little one who ever sees the face of the Father in heaven is the second witness representing the fire. For he is an angel in the world of the Spirit. "Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."(18:10)

    Hi Giannis.

    Thanks for replying.

I also have a lot going on and a lot I'm dealing with here at home.

That is also pretty much the view I have.

I see Daniel's vision of four beasts concerning four kingdoms represents Babylonian, Persia, Greece and Rome.

However, I see as a time where the Gentile empires mentioned as having dominion dating back to Babylonian on into the future with Rome still having dominion. ( They fell apart but was never conquered.)

Luke 21:24 Jesus says, "And they shall fall by the edge of the sword, and shall be led away captive into all nations: and Jerusalem shall be trodden down of the Gentiles, until the times of the Gentiles be fulfilled.

It is obvious from the context that Jesus is speaking about the destruction of Jerusalem which would occur 38 years later under Roman general Titus.

However, Jerusalem would continue to be trodden underfoot by the Gentiles until the times of the Gentiles was fulfilled.

As you said I believe that will be after the great tribulation when Jesus concuer THE PRINCE of THE PEOPLE that shall come.

    The people =Rome.

Prince that shall come = Antichrist.

    God bless.

    Thoughts on capital punishment...

In addition to God's laws, we are subject to laws and governors of our land, which God says he allows to be in power in Romans 13:1. Jesus said to give to Caesar was is Caesar's, showing a kind of respect for their authority. Governors and leaders duty is to protect people and if one person risks harming or killing many others, it seems logical for the government to remove that threat (sometimes by killing), to protect the many. Why should the innocents be punished further by having to pay for their room and board, entertainment, etc their whole life? The law used to be eye for an eye.

On an individual level I believe we must obey the commandment do not kill, but think God allows us to defend ourselves and others. I think it can be wrong to do nothing to stop evil. If we see someone committing a horrible act against a victim, and fail to act I believe some responsibility falls on us. There are laws against people spectating and not helping. But if we risk getting involved then it does risk bodily harm or death to ourselves or the perpetrator. But if potentially many more people could be harmed or killed, it seems the choice to do the least harm to people is to stop the perpetrator.

This somehow must be balanced with turning the other cheek. I don't know if that verse means willingly letting yourself to be killed, though. (like Jesus did)

Matt.18:1-4 "This is my rest forever" (2 of 2)

Jesus prefaces entering into the God's rest gives the disciples a template. "Humility" is borne out of vulnerability whose faith is like an infant to be dandled upon the knees of its mother. His faith with works creates rest and it is what Jesus wants them to think about. "Whosoever therefore shall humble himself as this little child, the same is greatest in the kingdom of heaven."(v.4)

Jesus Christ is the head and the believers form the body. This is the rest God has willed. The members equally draw from the head so there is no question of lesser or greater. For this reason each member is a brother beloved of God. "but God hath tempered the body together, having given more abundant honour to that part which lacked./That there should be no schism in the body; but that the members should have the same care one for another./ And whether one member suffer, all the members suffer with it; or one member be honoured, all the members rejoice with it./Now ye are the body of Christ, and members in particular."( 2 Co.12:25-27)

Matt.18:1-2 "This is my rest forever" (1 of 2)

"At the same time came the disciples unto Jesus, saying, Who is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven?/And Jesus called a little child unto him, and set him in the midst of them,"

The disciples chose this question after Jesus transfigured before them. Did the question chose them or other way about is a moot point. Each one wanted to be part of that glory that their master commanded. Lucifer saw the selfsame glory "For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God." He was the son of the morning meaning the brightness of the glory of God. Free will of the Son was expressed to bring glory to his Father; on the other hand Lucifer was all for establishing "I will" as the Law. Law of the Spirit worked in the Son so he said, "I delight to do thy will, O my God: yea, thy law is within my heart."(Ps.40:8). It is thus free will is determined by the Spirit. "Now the Lord is that Spirit: and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty."(2 Co.3:17)

"At the same time" with which this chapter begins is a clue as to how startling it was for his disciples to digest, and having wrestled with it the next question could have been, "Am I the one?" Surely Judas Iscariot one of the twelve would have had similar thought.

The law of sin is already in flow while the glory of the spiritual body created the vision of Zion that awaited those who were blessed in his Son. That was the sixth day. On the seventh day God rested because his faith in his Son to fulfill the Abstract of the everlasting covenant was absolute.(Ge.2:1-3)

"For the Lord hath chosen Zion; he hath desired it for his habitation./ This is my rest for ever: here will I dwell; for I have desired it./I will abundantly bless her provision: I will satisfy her poor with bread."(Ps.132:13-15).

"I will satisfy her poor" explains the relationship of the little ones with the bread from heaven.

    Matt.18:10 "Angels"

"That in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven."

There are two worlds of the Spirit and of the body where angels signify the cloud of witnesses. Whereas the body points to the same spiritual body prepared for the Son. Glory of God makes the cloud bright and as the spiritual body,- "we have a building of God, an house not made with hands, eternal in the heavens." We are called into one hope of our calling so every saint redeemed from the earth is part of this body or a building. so what do we call fellow believers headed towards the same direction? "So likewise shall my heavenly Father do also unto you, if ye from your hearts forgive not every one his brother their trespasses." brothers here and now have their witnesses, and they are called angels.

Jesus Christ "Who being the brightness of his glory, and the express image of his person" relates to us as the glory of God in the knowledge,, it is compared to a light, as in this verse, "the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ". This is his glorious gospel and shown as doable. So what we bear in our vile bodies is the kind of glory that the angels in heaven get to see directly.

Jesus tells that these little ones do always behold the face of my Father. So the power of the word in us is knowledge based and our faith is not merely lip-service but faith that can move mountains.

Having said this much how do we reconcile the vv.8-9 "And if thine eye offend thee, pluck it out,"? Does it put to rest the lust of eye, caused by sin, since the law of sin is what tempts the eye to sin? Jesus offers the only cure: "Without me you can do nothing."( John 15:3) Faith with works is when you rest from your own labor and self-will and fall back upon for his grace to have a perfect working in your life. Father of all mercies showed the glorious gospel of his Son as doable. Knowledge of the glory of God in holding on to grace and truth.
