    Hello Jesse.

You can look that word up on the internet, you will find out that AETOS means eagle in grek, this is without any objection. But there may be a case...

The greek for vulture is GYPAS. I found out that there is a kind of vulture that is called in greek GYPAETOS (GYPAS+AETOS). That kind of vulture looks very similar to eagles but it it actually a vulture. It is a common bird in Greece, but I don't know how common it is in Israel. Maybe Luke meant that bird? But again Luke was greek and he should have known that those birds are of a different kind.

Also, there is a different interpretation of Luke 17:37. "where the body is (Chist), the eagles (saints) will gather together. Since that scripture talks about the rapture. it makes sence as the saints will be caught up to meet Jesus in the air.

    So the conclusion is yours...

By your precious faith, receive the Holy Spirit. Jesus introduces Nicodemas to what the Holy Spirit is like, in John 3. Like the wind but living on the throne of your heart. You will experience His presence.

I asked for everything Jesus had_and I got it. I was kind of a modern hermit. When Jesus gave me the Holy Spirit, it was like someone had turned on, all of the lights. He called me to evangelize, and taught me every day what that meant. My life changed from solitary confinement, to the most exciting life anyone could live! I've seen many people believe, right there on a sidewalk. I took them to church with me that week! Incredible. Jesus is ALIVE. He lives in His Church. People who say YES.

Don't think it to death or the moment will pass away. Satan doesn't want Jesus to win. Satans mission is to Steal your salvation, Kill your hope, and destroy your life; dreams, hopes. Give him the boot.

Ephesians 6. Satan and his evil helpers are all INVISIBLE.

Have some faith and hope for a better life with meaning, happiness indescribable. Keep coming back here. Ask anything. We love you with His love.

Hi Amanda, I don't believe God necessarily chooses to know what we're going to do. He's powerful enough that He can choose to be in our timeframe if He wants. God can also change His mind, based on human input, like on destroying Sodom and Gomorrah. We have free will to choose and its totally up to us, we're not robots. So, the purpose of life is in our choices- to follow God and obey, or to follow evil and satan. To love or hate. Life is one big test in my opinion. God isn't going to just let everyone into heaven to disrupt and cause chaos. Satan apparently had freewill in heaven to do that and defy God. Fortunately we have grace and can stumble and have many chances. Sadly, most people will reject Jesus and go to hell, but there's a chance we can help those who are lost to share the truth. He loves you. He wants you to live in heaven with Him, forever. He already paid for your being able to accept His invitation.

He's not willing that any one person should die eternally. He's ready to save everybody right now.

In 2 Peter 3, you will see that which global mankind is fearful of, is going to happen on Earth. It is NOT global warming. Time is ticking down, and the earth is on "pre warm" much like an oven we preheat for our pizza.

It's happening now and global leaders are trying to force us to believe they have answers on how to stop it. They cannot! This warming is ordained by God. Recorded in the Bible.

    Excerpt from 2 Peter 3:9-13

"The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, NOT willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance.

But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent HEAT, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be BURNED UP.

Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness?

Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being ON FIRE shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent HEAT?

Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for NEW heavens and a NEW earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness."

Making Jesus your Savior and Lord is the only way to escape this. Trust Jesus today. We all did.

Could you survive 7 years of Gods wrath: little food, no fresh water. Falling stars slamming into earth; asteroids and global wars with nukes.

    Janet,

When a person dies, their body lays in the grave, but their spirit immediately goes to be with the Lord. In fact, the word death means separation. So at the point of death, a persons spirit separates from their body and goes to be with the Lord.

"I have since heard this same situation told by Missionaries who went to remote tribal groups who had little to no contact with the outside world in Japan, the Middle East and South America. The tribe visited by missionaries in the Middle East region also related the story of the Magi who passed through their region after seeing the baby Jesus, and then leaving by a different route to avoid King Herod. I have since read of other groups who all have a similar understanding of the Gospel that result in salvation for those who believe. There are still other peoples who have knowledge of the constellations but the meaning is lost.

When God answers our prayers so clearly, are we to deny the method of conveying His Grace because it does not fit our knowledge or understanding? No, we are to accept what God has done and accept His Grace and Mercy shown to those who may have had no eternal hope otherwise. End Quote.

Brother Jesse. I appreciated your comments on this subject, as it would certainly rank high in the list of topics that aren't easily understood, at least observing the Work of God in hearts that have never heard of Jesus or the Gospel.

I heard of one account where an unreached tribe were exercised in spirit about their sin & manner of living but had neither Bible nor messenger to lead them into Truth. But they hung on, hoping that someone would come to help them. God did send someone. And the tribe welcomed him & received the Word joyfully.

I also share this following account of a missionary sharing at a Church. This was related by another believer.

Quote. I heard a missionary who had just returned from Africa, relating an amazing situation she had experienced. She had gone to visit a very remote village and told the gospel to them. They were very attentive and at the end of her talk they had tears in their eyes. They thanked her very much. They said, "We know the story and believe but did not know that His name was Jesus". How could such a remote tribe with virtually no contact with the outside world know the story of the gospel?

"That night they went outside and the tribal elder pointed to individual and groups of stars and told her the Gospel (as they understood it) in the stars that led to their salvation. This Gospel had been passed down to them possibly over thousands of years.

This is what encourages evangelism. People need to see our happiness and ability to endure crisis. They want to know why we have faith in Jesus.

The Bible is more than a book. It's Words give life to anyone who will begin to read it. When we stop reading it, our lives sort of unravel. Nothing else can soothe our souls and give us faith to believe in meeting the God who wrote this Bible.

It's best to begin our journey with our Savior, in the Gospels and on towards the books 1-2-3 John, in the back.

It's about the planting and cultivating of Jesus's Church. We're to do that too :) For some people they become missionaries; others may fund a missionaries work. Not all churches have 5000+ members.

As long as what we do is, "as unto Jesus Christ our Lord", anything we give towards the work (time, help, missions giving, commitment to pray prayers), the Gospel continues to bear fruit. Amen.

The Tribulation is the reason we pray and preach. It's not a movie. It's really going to happen.

  • 1 Corinthians 1:8 Meaning - In Reply on 1 Corinthians 1 - 2 years ago
This is one of Scripture's truly great promises about what it means to be in Christ. Paul has been giving thanks to God for all the amazing things He has done for the Christians in Corinth. Everything he has mentioned is true of all Christians.

Reading these words, it's important to notice that nothing Paul has written mentions anything the Corinthians themselves have done. God has done it all, in and for them, as a free gift because of their faith in Christ. The rest of Paul's letter will show that as individuals and as a church, these believers in Corinth struggle with major spiritual problems. They are indulging in attitudes and actions that are sinful. Still, Paul writes the words of this verse to them and to all who are in Christ. God will not stop giving the Corinthians His good gifts. He will not stop sustaining them, keeping them going, holding them together. They will remain guiltless or blameless in His eyes all the way to the return of Christ on the day of the Lord.

How is this possible? Why would God do this? God's grace to us is rightly called "amazing." For those who come to Him by faith, God receives Christ's death as payment for our sins and gives us credit for Christ's righteous, sinless life on earth ( Romans 5:6-11). That's why, instead of dreading the return of Christ, Christians can wait for it with eager hopefulness ( Galatians 5:5; Romans 8:19-25).

While there is a lot of discussion about all of this, what I think is more important than what does and doesn't make sense is that Jesus is referred to as the Lamb of God, in the Book of John it says that In the beginning, the Word was God, the Word was with God and the Word is God. And then it talks about the Messiah, which regular folk read for it to be the Christ. And after I read that many times, I finally figured it out. All we really need to know is very simple, Jesus is God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Jesus is the Lamb of God.

I think that too many times we try to make everything so complicated instead of dwelling on what the Bible teaches us right now. We know who God is, we know who Jesus is and we know who the Holy Spirit is. Truthfully, what more do we need to know? I know that there are those who desire to know more, but I'm not one of them. I believe every word written in the Bible exactly as it is written and to mean exactly what it says. If we try too hard to figure something out then we just end up more confused. I would love to understand all of this but my brain has a finite amount of space left. Everyone keeps wanting to change the world, now it's supposed to be flat because it's written in Samuel 11 by the Protestant Reformers. But that language is hard to read and the letters are not what we have today. We are coming into the last days maybe I will maybe I won't be alive then, all I care about is going to Heaven and seeing Jesus as I'm on my knees before Him apologizing for all my Sin. God bless you all.

    Hi Jesse,

Interesting comment on 666. Never heard it put that way. It parallels the Holy Trinity, yet they are opposites in nature.

Your second to last paragraph caught my attention and I want to make sure I understand it. The way I'm reading it is that God willfully (purposely) created man a little short of completeness and perfection. Ok, so I'm thinking perfection and completeness are absolutes, i.e. no degrees/levels, in between. Therefore something perfect is perfect and nothing else, and what is imperfect is like itself and nothing else. What is perfect cannot waiver or change or it wasn't created/made perfect in the beginning. I have difficulty believing a perfect/holy Source can create short of perfection. To believe so is to open wide the probability of an unholy source producing its opposite; holiness. James 3:11,12 establishes the basic principal that things produce their self, and sets a premise that opposing effects cannot flow from the same cause (source).

You also stated a man "falls short of completeness because he's a sinner". May I propose a man is a sinner if if he's made imperfect and incomplete. Conversely, what is sinless is created from a perfect/sinless source. My apologies if it appears I'm being controversial. Yet, if something doesn't seem reasonable, I gotta ask. I hope I haven't misconstrued anything you stated.

    Peace

Noah's flood was literal,,, the coming flood will be a flood of lies, and deception.

38 For just as in the days that were before the flood they

were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage,

until the day that Noah entered into the ark,

39 And knew not until the flood came, and took them all

away; so will also the coming of the Son of man be.

40 Then will two be in the field; the one is taken, and

    the other left.

You said "The purpose of it all, is to bring God's creation to TRUTH.

    Creation is DECEIVED.

Sinful flesh (man) DIED ON THE CROSS; a NEW CREATION (Christ in you) arose.

    THEN YOU QUOTE THESE SCRIPTURES.

1 Corinthians 12:27 Now ye are the body of Christ ....

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (Christ in you) that worketh both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

HOW CAN WE BE DECEIVED BY THE GOOD PLEASURE AND WILL OF CHRIST.

And according to your theology SO WHAT! WE ALL GO TO HEAVEN.

Unless you are telling us that a deceived person will not.

You never answered when asked IF ANY AND EVERY VIEW IS ACCEPTED. WHY DO YOU GO THROUGH SUCH INTENSE MEASURES TO PITCH YOURS.

Why not let a person believe what he wants do what he wants if we all ends up with the same fate?

Here's the question again for YOU.

Why do it matter so much to you that we change our views and accept yours if in the end it doesn't matter? Not looking for verses, Just an explanation.

    Still Waiting.

    Vincent,

Concerning Christ, who shall also confirm, that is, establish you unto the end, because God is faithful!

So not only are you established now in Christ, but this same Jesus is going to establish you all the way to the end.

Now if it were me writing a letter to this church in Corinth, I would have told them "Well, the Lord has established you but I can't promise you anything for your future if you keep going on the way you're going!"

But Paul is giving them a promise. He will establish you unto the end because God is faithful. He keeps his word.

The end would be when a believer stands before the Lord. God is faithful to keep a believer established until that day so that we will be found blameless.

I'm in agreement with the other responses you received, StandTro, that Paul was the last apostle. Of course, when we think of apostles, we understand that they had to have been with Jesus in His earthly ministry & also appointed by Him to take the Gospel into all the world. Paul seems like the exception, though we know that Jesus spoke to Him on Damascus Road via the brilliant light from Heaven & Jesus' discussion with him & his appointment ( Acts 9:3-6) - so this would qualify Paul to be included with the twelve.

And we also have references to other 'apostles', such as Barnabas ( Acts 14:14); James (the Lords brother, Galatians 1:19); Epaphroditus ( Philippians 2:25, note: 'messenger' in the Greek is 'apostolos'); & Titus & a few others ( 2 Corinthians 8:23; again 'apostolos' used here). I understand these men, though referred to as apostles, were apostles in the general sense of doing the apostolic work (today, we would call them 'missionaries'). So, Paul spoke of them as apostles, yet were not numbered with the original twelve, plus Paul. In that sense, today's missionaries taking the Gospel to unreached peoples could also be considered as apostles, doing the same work that Jesus commanded the twelve plus one, to do.

    Giannis,

No offense taken. In fact, I want to thank you for pointing that out. I know Greek is your native language so I trust that you know the language quite well. I own a Textus Receptus and I do read from it but at times I have to look words up that I do not recognize using an Greek/English Interlinear Bible. Today, I looked up the verse in Luke and it translated AETOI to vultures. But now I am puzzled as to why they would do that? Perhaps you might be able to shed some light on that.

There are also other theories out there on what the word eagles meant. I'm sure you have heard some of them yourself?

Maybe that verse is not talking about carnivorous birds at all? We do know that there will be many dead carcasses lying in the valley of Megiddo, and logic would tell us that birds will be gathering to feed on these carcasses.

Will these be eagles? It would seem odd to me because eagles are birds of prey and they normally kill their prey before they eat it. Vultures only feed on dead carcasses.

    Dear StanTro,

I agree with Mishael. I believe that the time of Apostles and Prophets ended with the death of John (who was the last apostle appointed by Jesus to die in A.D. 98 or so.

The 12 Apostles and Paul Appointed Pastors and Bishops in the churches they either started or lead (or both). These appointed pastors and bishops led the congregations after the apostles died. No one else was appointed as an apostle after the conversion of Paul as recorded in the N.T.

Personally, I would never put myself under the spiritual oversight of anyone who claims to be an Apostle appointed by Jesus nor a Prophet in today's times, as I do not see biblical support for this current practice.

    Hey Giannis,

Thanks, I still go with nowhere in scripture refers to an immortal soul that goes to a holding place whether it is a good place or a bad place to me that strictly comes from Greek philosophy. And the context of Luke 16 is towards the Pharisees and in my opinion, it is a parable because no other scripture backs it up, and I go with Deut. 17:6 only one witness does not hold up.

The fifth seal, the souls under the altar, that was slain for the word of God and the testimony which they held. It does not say when they were killed. They cried to God, asking Him how long it would be until He would judge the world. These are souls under the alter, would that be where souls go under an alter or is this symbolic of something else?

We see I Rev. 8:3-4 the heavenly counterpart of the altar of incense which was in the holy of holies Exod. 30:27, the altar of incense was an altar for prayer. My understanding of what John was seeing was symbolic of the prayers of the saints which they offered when they yet lived. It also could be a picture of the coming tribulation that many say they will not be here.

There have been many since Jesus ascended that have been butchered for God and the testimony of Jesus Christ, by many different nations even today. Their white robes are waiting, and the prayers of the saints are still going up to God our Father.

There are scriptures that this earth is for man even when it is all over, the new city Jerusalem comes down to the new earth where we will be. I still have not found one scripture that outright says, in any form, we go or are taken to heaven, can you show me one?

This flesh must be planted, 1 Cor. 15:42-44, This mortal must put on immortality, 1 Cor.15:53. Jesus did not leave his fleshly body in the tomb it was transformed into His spiritual body.

We have the earnest of the Spirit, a down payment until the redemption of the purchased possession. When we are resurrected not before.

    God bless,

The best evidence that I have found in over 40 years of study is in Luke 24:25-27. It says that beginning with Moses ( Genesis 1:1) and all the prophets through Malachi, Jesus expounded unto them in all the scriptures the things concerning Himself. If the Old Testament was good enough for Jesus to use after His resurrection, don't you think it is good enough for us???

Read 1 Thess. 4. It is the clearest text about the Second Coming and what happens when you die. The dead come from the grave and meet the Lord in the air. Also consider this. When Jesus raised Lazarus from the dead, John 11, if he was in Heaven Jesus brought him back so the Pharases could kill him. John 12:10 Jesus said "he sleeps when He was addressing comments regarding Lazarus' death. Everyone is in the grave until the resurrection of the just or the resurrection of the unjust. John 5:28-29

No one changed it,,, when you count you get 666; the verse tells us to calculate, to count the number.

To count is a study in of itself.

The Hebrew alphabet has 22 letters/numbers and the Greek has 24.

The Greek for this number 600, 60, 6 are three letters, which by Gematria = 666

Numbers are used in scripture, not just as in nature with supernatural design, but with spiritual significance, whereby 6 denotes the Human number.

Man was created on the 6th day, and this first occurrence of the number makes it (and all multiples of it) the hall-mark of connected with man.
