I'm curious what the definition of the term "dualism" in which you referred is?
To that of course, I can't argue; if one truly believes that they are led to believe what Scriptures are revealing on a matter, then one should be persuaded accordingly. Unfortunately, for me to reach that level, I must first seek to understand what the Scriptures are saying (e.g. on the twelfth apostle matter). If there are sufficient verses that bring clarity on it, then I don't seek any further 'inspiration', as nothing else is needed. If however, the Scriptures are not totally clear to me (e.g. 1 Corinthians 15:29, on the "baptism for the dead"), I may have a basic understanding of what the apostle is referring to, but in the absence of any further Scriptures on that event, I have to hold my thoughts & tongue to allow the Spirit to help me in my quest for His Interpretation. To date, the options on that verse remain unchanged for me, so I wait.
But on the Acts 1:26 matter, to my understanding, & hence belief, the matter is clear & settled from the many Scriptures given. Anyway, I think this subject is now closed with us, but thought to share how I approach, accept, & understand what God's Word says to me. Blessings.
These more than helped a lot. Thank you.
These are scary to envisage though... yet must be true because God does not lie.
The Book of Revelation, I think I should finish reading this one ahead.
Is it true that Our Heavenly Father buried Moses secretly?
I will pray for you.
Heavenly Father, thank you for safely delivering this baby boy, Moses Levi. I ask tonight that You will protect both Abigail and Moses as both recover from this birth. Keep both healthy and strengthen them over the next weeks. I ask that You cause Moses to be an eager eater and a successful nurser. I ask that You give Abigail an abundant supply of milk to meet Moses' need. I ask that You heal Abigail's body and renew her strength. Give her restful sleep. I pray, Father, that Abigail will get all the help she needs to be able to concentrate on taking care of herself and baby Moses. I ask these things of You, Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen.
I will pray for your request tonight.
Heavenly Father, I lift up Linda Hardin tonight and ask that in Your mercy restore her sight. I know You can do all things that align with Your goodness and will. I ask, also, that Larry Hardin will be turned back to following You stronger than ever before. May Your Holy Spirit fill Larry up and steer him back into the sheepfold of our Savior, Your Son Jesus. We ask this of You, Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus, Amen.
I will pray for your son tonight.
Heavenly Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus, heal this little one and cause his body to recover from covid. Heal LaShunda and all in her sphere who are symptomatic for covid now. Remove all traces of covid from her mother, herself, and son. Bring victory over this illness. We ask this of You Father, for You are good and do good to those who ask. Amen.
Praise God for answering prayers for your son! How good is that! Thank you for sharing. What good news!
Father, cover her with Your tender mercies. Bring wholeness to her mind, body, soul, and heart. Remove the pain and disturbing memory from her of these events.
Father, I also ask that you keep her from cancer. That you eliminate anything in her body that would lead to cancer. I ask that you calm her heart and fill her with enormous trust in You. Remind her that she is Your child and cause her to be overwhelmed with your Fatherly love.
ASking this of You, Father, in the name of Your Son, Jesus. Amen
I will encourage you to ask God to strengthen your faith to believe without a doubt that He has forgiven all of your sins already as a believer. You stand before Him forgiven and righteous in Jesus. Sometimes we remember the sins of our past and are ashamed and feel guilty. We may be upset that we even could have done what we did. We may beat ourselves up for being so rotten. But remember that Satan is the accuser of the brethren. He wants to keep us in bondage to our past sins. He likes to remind us of all the things we did that were against God and others. He wants us to be stuck in our shame. But we can resist him and he will flee from us.
On the other hand, we also can be reminded of our past sins that we once didn't think were so bad, or that at the time, we loved doing that which was wrong. Now, when we remember, we are repentant, we hate our sins of the past, we wish we had never done those things. This is godly sorrow and is helpful in showing us how we are acquiring the mind of Christ and view sin more like God does. But we should not let condemnation overcome us. We should confess to God that what we did was sinful and ask for forgiveness. We can be assured that He is faithful and just to forgive us AND cleans us. Those sins do not have any claim on us anymore. We are free from them!
If you are speaking of sinful things done to you in your past and the ongoing damage it brought to you, then seeking to forgive these sins of others is always good and healing in itself. Pray to God for Him to help you forgive and keep you from sinning in the process of forgiving and remembering the hurt and harm. Also, Ask God to help you truly love those who sinned against you and ask how to pray for them.
I will pray for you tonight.
Heavenly Father, Donna is burdened with past sins and hurts. Please bring peace and assurance to her that You are the One who restores us, heals us, and sets things aright that were meant to harm us. .....
Amen , how beautiful it is to think that God wants everyone to be saved.
Thank you Richard. I got it. Yes Jesus obedience was really overwhelming , amazing... I couldn't convey with my own words. We Christians must indeed overcome fear. Practice strengthening faith. I always mention the Holy Spirit of God and Jesus when praying to the Father. Really trying my best sometimes to understand the SCRIPTURES.
This is a good inquiry. I think that the Scriptures are clear that God lives in us. Where exactly, is not clearly stated. We are an integrated being with a body, soul, and spirit. If God dwells in our spirit, He necessarily dwells in our soul and body. If He dwells in our soul, He necessarily dwells in our body and spirit. If He dwells in our body, He necessarily dwells in our spirit and soul. I don't think the bible teaches that we can be compartmentalized spiritually or physically. The spirit, soul, and body, make us a whole person. And our redemption is of our whole person, spirit, soul, and body. So, by faith we are saved spirit, soul, and body.
I think it is an error to think of our physical body as being vile, but our soul (heart), or spirit being pure. This smacks of Gnosticism where the body is seen as evil and the spirit as good. It is also termed "dualism" and is not taught in the Scripture. We have become a new creation in Christ. When we were created at conception, we were created body, soul, spirit. When we are born again, we become a new human creature body, soul, and spirit. We just cannot divide ourselves up into separate parts. When we sin, our whole self sins, body, soul, and spirit. when we obey God, our whole self obeys, body, soul, and spirit.
The difference between our self prior to salvation and after is that, after, we have been made alive to God when we were dead to Him before, and the Holy Spirit comes to reside in us, giving us faith to believe and power to live for God by resisting sin and loving what is good.
I think you are referring to the account with Paul and the people at Ephesus ( Acts 19:1-6) If you read the account, it says that they were baptized in the name of Jesus (this is water baptism) and Paul laid hands upon them to receive the Holy Spirit. It is not speaking only of Holy spirit baptism. it does not say that specifically. It is clear to me that there were two things Paul did to these believers: water baptize them, and lay hands on them to receive the Holy Spirit.
1) Pastors rarely; from my experience ever ask or certainly not EARNESTLY desire prayer. They don't like to admit struggles or sins; or share personal issues like the rest of the lay persons tend to do.
2) Related to this; they only have elders who are supposed to be as iron sharpening iron; and also giving guidance if certain parameters in their wisdom are in question if a statement seems out of line to scripture. Reformed churches seem to have a better handle on this than others; from my observations.
3) Related to the first two; Pastors need to be open to suggestions; even rebuke if necessary from others (as done in a respectful manner). We can see an example of this with Paul and Peter when he had to be openly rebuked because of double standards in behavior with Jews going back to unnecessary things in the law.
If these issues are not a major problem then I'd say you are better than many congregations. Another related issue is if pastors don't recognize that others with different giftings may themselves be an answer to prayer. A trust must be established with others in the Body; and part of that is trusting God to work with whoever He wills to accomplish His purposes.
These things need to be healthy and in order to be able to facilitate praying for the Spirit to work powerfully through a convicting message. The truth must be preached in love; one without the other is compromising. If He is preaching correctly then you can expect results; and pray for protection as all who are godly in Christ Jesus will suffer persecution. You can pray for direction; whether to do preaching through a Book in scripture; and for any supplemental study chosen. And to overcome temptation.
I do believe your answer is true. I have read some scriptures sparingly . One of those were Jesus words saying " in my Father's house are many mansions , if it weren't so I would have told you , I got to prepare a place for you ... " This sounds so comforting and your answer to my question really adds up so beautifully. I think I need to read the Bible from beginning up to end.
God bless you Doug , and everyone here !
I'm not saying that I agree that the two men were Moses and Elijah either as the scripture does not tell us who, other than "two men."
I'm not sure if I can agree that it was two angels either since it does not say angels. It is possible though that it was two angels. But with that, I would have to agree that it is possible that the two men were Moses and Elijah. But again, I cannot come to a conclusion one way or another.
And yes, Mark 12:25 says, "For when they shall rise from the dead, they neither marry, nor are given in marriage; but are as the angels which are in heaven.
This tells me that there is no marriage in heaven. There is no male-female functions in heaven. We will be like the angels. We will not be angels, but like the angels.
knew that for Paul to believe his Son had to appear to him. Also acts 1:25 it is written That he mathias may take part of
this ministry and apostleship from which Judas by transgression fell. agapeo to you also this is what I see.
according to mark12:24+25.
John 3:3-7 Context together to understand the passage.
Jesus answered and said unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born again, he cannot see the kingdom of God. Nicodemus saith unto him, How can a man be born when he is old? can he enter the second time into his mother's womb, and be born? Jesus answered, Verily, verily, I say unto thee, Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which is born of the flesh is flesh; and that which is born of the Spirit is spirit. Marvel not that I said unto thee, Ye must be born again.
This is talking about being born in the flesh. When you are born your mother broke their water. It is not baptism. It explains in v6. Otherwise why would Nicodemus mentioned the mother's womb? GBU.
