I can see why the Catholics took this book out of the Bible. It gives the ingredients to a concoction for killing Bel the Dragon. The Pope worships Bel (Baal) and wants to keep him alive, in the belief that people will end up worshiping HIM instead of God. The current Pope pretty much confessed to this before being hung by the neck, when found guilty of Crimes Against Humanity at his Military Tribunal. I guess the rhetorick that I've heard, but didn't believe until now, that the Pope was the anti-Christ, was True!
I, too, do not study the Apochrypha for the same reasons you mentioned. I wasn't encouraging anyone to study it, I was just mentioning that historically, it was included in the original KJV up until the 1700's. That's all.
The reason I don't read the Apocrypha is because it centers around the Chaldeans; Giants and the rest.
I'm an evangelist. I choose to keep my focus on what Jesus did and what He said to be doing (Go Ye). That impresses me. Praying in a War Room with others, helps the spiritually bound, be freed. The Gospel is a Person, and He said to me and many others, Follow Me.
Apocrypha isn't going to help unbelievers to give their hearts to Jesus. I'm not going to change my mind
My research of the KJV ws that the Apocrypha was included in the KJV up until I believe the 1700's, at which time the Aprocrypha was removed. Perhaps because the publishers did not want these books to be included any longer for theological reasons o or perhaps to be able to print a Bible that had considerably less pages to print, thus saving costs.
It is a deuterocanonical work in that it is accepted in the ROMAN canon,
BUT NOT by Jews, Protestants or Christianity. The King James Bible was canonized just as it is now.
The story you are looking for is in chapter one of the APOCRYPHA.
It tells of the Jewish hero Daniel, who refuses to worship the god Bel and kills the dragon, thus being forced into a den of lions, which he is allowed to leave after seven days because he is unharmed.
The Apocrypha is not canonized into the King James Bible.
You may understand better if you Google the history of the KJV Bible; and the separation of the Apocryphal Books.
The Council of Nicaea was the first council in the history of the Christian church that was intended to address the entire body of believers. It was convened by the emperor Constantine to resolve the controversy of Arianism, a doctrine that held that ***Christ was not divine but was a created being.***
Jesus Christ is the Divine Son of God. Anybody who has read the KJV and the Book of John chapter 3; called upon Jesus for salvation:
Are born again, and have been baptized with the indwelling Holy Spirit__who is the Spirit of Jesus Christ.
He reveals Jesus to new Christians.
The Bible [WORD OF GOD] is spiritually discerned. We must be born again to understand the hard sayings.
I have always prayed that The Lord Jesus would put convection in my children's hearts and there was something else, but I cannot remember, it seems the word started with a B. I am 74, but this is the first time I have forgot a word and just can't remember. Just what else can He put. I love Him with all my heart and soul
What a shame such a great story was removed from the KJV bible after being used in the bible book for 274 years initially. Great to only now read about Daniels other events. Just to give clarity: This is clearly another event separate to the one mentioned in the book of Daniel. Daniel 6 described events under King Darius. This book described events under King Cyrus (who is also mentioned in Daniel 6:28 & 10:1). Very few know that Daniel was twice placed into a lions den by two different kings , in Daniel 6 for one day/night and here for 7 days together with the miraculous provision of food to Daniel in the den in this book. What a loss to all generations after removal , including my generation who knows absolutely nothing of this books events. Thank God for leading me to read this book and compare it with the book of Daniel.
The text must be IN something before it can be taken OUT of that something.
The Scriptures, writings that the Jewish scribes and priests recognized as sacred, were the 39 books that Christians today refer to as The Old Testament.
The last book was Malachi, written around 400BC. After the prophet Malachi, there were no more prophets saying, "Thus saith The LORD!"
From 400 BC on God appeared to be silent. Some of the books written in this period between the Old Testament and New Testament were referred to as the Apocrypha. The Apocrypha were not considered part of the Jewish canon nor did the apostles and early church fathers consider them to be God-breathed Scripture. It wasn't until the 1500s that the Roman Catholic church declared them part of the canon as a reaction to The Protestant Reformation. St Jerome reluctantly included The Apocrypha in The Latin Vulgate translation and some King James Bibles also include The Apocrypha, despite their not being canonical.
Bottom line: This story was never taken OUT of The Bible because it never was IN The Bible.
Foinn ,hi ,i cant speak for any other Christians but i have no idea what the story of Bel and the Dragon 1 is but i think i can guess which was written first between it and the book of Daniel .
Is this the same story of the Daniel and the Lion den in the main text? These are great stories..so someone decided to take this out, but why? Are all the facts, clues, and evidence pointing to it being truth? Who is giving account of this story? Are there other possible interpretations? Would most Christians agree it is a good thing, assuming of course it passes all previous tests?
Carlos, you will have read the account of the children of Israel who left the bondage of Egypt & went on their long journey to the Land of Promise. So they were about to capture & enter the Land of Canaan, as God had promised that land to them to be theirs throughout their generations. However, on their approach into the land which meant crossing the Jordan River, two tribes of Israel (Reuben & Gad) asked permission from Moses that they could establish themselves on the east side of the Jordan & not on the west side as was directed by the Lord. You can read a part of this occurrence in Numbers chapter 32.
Even though the half tribe of Manasseh was not mentioned in wanting to also live on the east side of the Jordan, it is understood that they did want to, as they also, with Reuben & Gad, received their portion of land. However, they could only possess that land if they went over the Jordan to fight alongside their brethren so that the land could be captured. They could then afterwards return east wards to secure & dwell in their land.
As to why 'the half tribe of Manasseh': the tribe of Joseph was split into two smaller tribes: his two sons, Ephraim & Manasseh. Ephraim & half of Manasseh went with the larger group of tribes to the west of the Jordan River while one half of Manasseh decided to stay back on the east side with Reuben & Gad & settle there.
Now I understand why the great King Cyrus issued a decree to rebuild and restore Jerusalem of which Daneil camo to refer in the first part of the seventy week.
From the going forth of the commandment to restore and rebuild Jerusalem unto MESSIAH the Prince shall be Seven Week.
This is NOT in line with what the KJV Bible says about Daniel. First, a King cannot be forced by his people to do anything. A Kingdom is not a democracy research what a Kingdom is . Next the Bible says that Daniel was in the lion's den for only 1 night Daniel 6:16-24 KJV. Just read the whole of Daniel 6. If you could read this then you can read 1 chapter in the bible.
Please Read the Book of Daniel KJV or NEw KJV you willl see the full Real Story of Daniel. Do not be easily fooled that all you see, hear,or read is just truth. Seek God. God Bless
unveiling of statues of baphomet in USA shows: The condition of mind described as depravity of mind is characterized by an inherent deficiency of moral sense and integrity. It consists of evil, corrupt and perverted intent which is devoid of regard for human dignity and which is indifferent to human life. It is a state of mind outrageously horrible or inhuman-Legal Definition of Depravity Of Mind
A wonderful story. Great is the Almighty God. He has never and will never fail those that build their trust in him. Though challenges may come to treaten their faith but as they stand, God will alway show Himself stronge on their behalf.
Bel and The Dragon, clearly demonstrates the folly of state religion and its ' imposition of a false god in the minds of the people whom it enslaves, for the sole benefit of the state and its ' appointed ministers!
WHAT DIFFERENCE IN PSALM, PROVERBS, AND ECCL., THAT THEY WERE INCLUDED, AND THIS BOOK WAS NOT. WE ARE NOT TO ADD NOR TAKE AWAY FROM THE WORD OF GOD, THAT IS WHY THIS WORLD IS SO MESSED UP NOW. THE WISDOM OF MAN SAYS, "this one and not that one " WHEN GOD SAYS, "ALL OF IT "
Bel and the Dragon are two false gods which Daniel bravely disproved before the king. The king was upset and threw Daniel into a lion 's den and God protected him. Habakkuk confirmed this. The kind instead threw in his own people to be devoured by the lions.
Hopefully these are helpful in your research

Also about forcing the King, in Babylon the law was above the King, they could force him. King has to follow law and decree which do not change
