    Hi Arkieguide,

I would encourage you to google subjects like this. There are many good sites that speak from a Christian perspective.

(Answers in Genesis, Christian Archeology, also, subjects like: The creation of the universe, Early mankind, How old is the earth?, etc.) Take some time to read as much as you can. I did this same thing last January and spent a whole month reading whatever I could find about the beginnings of our world/universe and what the pre-flood world may have been like. I found it helpful.

    Hi Sister GiGi,

You are correct, and a wonderful explanation on why as a Christian we should receive baptism as instructed by Christ. I agree, that water baptism has been the norm even before, and then during the 1st century church up to and including the present day!

Jesus instructs us to be baptized, and shows us here, how we should be baptized and the manner in which we receive the Holy Spirit:

    Matthew 3:16

"And Jesus, when he was baptized, went up straightway out of the water: and, lo, the heavens were opened unto him, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove, and lighting upon him:"

Jesus gave us many wonderful examples for us to follow, and Christ followers will follow Christ, and no one else!

    God Bless.

    Hi Gigi.

It seems there is 2 things we are discussing here. For one there is many things that was practiced that isn't essential for salvation. These same arguments were present in apostles day. false practices and false doctrine crept in the Church in their day. Infact, you see it prophesied in the feast offerings with the leaven. It seems you are searching the scripture as an historian to get to this matter, but you mention nothing of Paul not baptizing as an apostle to the gentiles. I've mentioned the transition from Judaism with much explanation in the initial post, we want get into that here.

I'm carefully going over your post and there seems to be a bit confusion. We are not talking about THE POWER OF THE HOLYSPIRIT in which we are gifted for ministry, We are talking about being baptized into Christ death and resurrection which is done by the Holyspirit immediately at conversion. We are identified with him in death, when he died, we died. When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men.

(The church couldn't receive these gifts until after Christ died and rose from the dead) So their baptism into his death had already taken place before receiving the gifts.

So we are not substituting water baptism for baptism by the Holyspirit, we're saying ther is only one baptism as Paul mentions in Ephesians 4:4-6. I believe here Paul is saying there is only one way we are identified with Christ and the father and put into the body of believers. and that can only be done by the Holyspirit.

You seem to be saying the same thing in your reply; however it seems you define or term spirit baptism incorrectly.

    Quoting you:

"I want to have all that God has for me, not just some. So, that is why I have been water and Spirit baptized, which happened after I was converted."

How can this happen after you were converted if it takes water baptism to be converted?
  • How To See Gods Purpose in our Lives NOW - In Reply - 4 years ago
I absolutely agree with you. I've read the Bible back and forth so much. I never found an explanation from The Lord why he hasn't said Why we all look different.

The artist in me, understands, somehow; God and I have the same opinion. You find just the right canvas and prepare it, mount it, then you go get your paint colors which is a science in itself. I like paintings done by brush and blade. You have to go to an art museum to eyeball the layers of paint and how the colors look back at you.

God is a Master Painter and Sculptor. Every day, our skies are new.

Hollywood tries to paint the devil so handsome and sensual; but Isaiah 14, shows us the Truth. Hatred made him short and covered in worms. He showed the kingdoms of the world, to Tempt Jesus_the Son of God!! the Word made flesh. John 1:1

God created us all different and beautiful. Somehow, Satan corrupts it with chaos, jealousy and pride; eternally marred with hate.

How do we show a dying world there is acceptance and love in the Creator? He takes all the results of sin and hurls them as far as the East is from the West: a straight line that doesn't end.

How do our children learn to hate and despise themselves and others? In all of our daily busyness, why can we not teach of God who is the definition of Greatness and Love? He has no color. He's Spirit. A consuming Fire. His Love towards each of us burns. We see it in Jesus Love.

I see Great Wisdom. Each human being is unique. Is exactly as the Master Painter, Sculptor, desired.

It is upsetting to see in this Forum, that we are not all convinced that God is Good; that God is Love. We blame Him for all bad choices.

We don't truly know how much Satan hates Gods creation; people too. Riots, National leaders forcing us into a sick slavery, children fighting everyone and everything. No future.

Teach them to see Jesus; see Love in the flesh; before it's too late. See the signs! Get yourself in Jesus, who is the last ARK.

Herod was a title. Herod the Great was the one that had the boy babies killed. His son, another Herod, had John the Baptist Killed. His grandson, Herod Agrippa I, had James killed, and his great grandson, Herod Agrippa II was witnessed to by Paul in the book of Acts.

    Good question, Tony.

We should look to Jesus as our example and be imitators of Him, not some person who "seems" admirable, gifted, popular, prosperous, etc. Everyone is fallible, but Jesus is perfect. We can learn from one another, but in our celebrity mindset of today's society, we should guard against putting someone on a pedestal or "follow" them as a "fan". We should be careful who we "promote" by our words and recommendations.

Also, we are not to be respecters of persons in the way of preferential treatment of someone because the have wealth or "prestige" over someone of lesser means or renown. This was happening in the early church and the epistle writers spoke against such practices.

As for the piece of bread part, perhaps it means that when people are enamored with someone who seems important we can sin when this VIP flings us a "crumb" of acknowledgement, a nod, a handshake, a photo op. That happens when people work their way near a celebrity to get a chance to "rub elbows" and then be able to brag about it.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Deuteronomy 25 - 4 years ago
    Actually, Spencer,

If you read all of Acts, you will find that water baptism was the general practice of the apostles when ministering to new believers. This practice continued all through the the apostolic times into the the early church times (past 100 A.D.) and has been the common orthodox practice throughout the centuries. It is only in recent times that people are substituting the "baptism" of the Holy Spirit for water baptism (which I think is a biblically errant substitution) . I am not saying that the enduement of the Holy Spirit is unbiblical, though. It is a wonderful action of the Holy Spirit in the life of believer to empower and equip one for service and exercise of spiritual gifts in the Church family. I think that Jesus wants believers to have both a water baptism (as each apostle/disciple had been done prior to Pentecost) and one of enduement of the Spirit (as on Pentecost), but it is the same Spirit that regenerates someone and gives faith to believe at conversion, indwells the new believer, is present at water baptism to do whatever God has determined to happen from it, and Who is poured out on a believer when one is endued with the Spirit. AS for me, I want to have all that God has for me, not just some. So, that is why I have been water and Spirit baptized, which happened after I was converted.
  • GiGi - In Reply on Leviticus 3 - 4 years ago
    Hello, Esmeralda

When the Holy Spirit makes us aware that we have sinned, we are to agree with the Spirit that what he pointed out to us is a sin and then confess that we are sorrowful about having done it and wish to not do it again, asking the Spirit to help us to resist it next time. We can believe what Scripture says, that he is faithful and just to forgive us. 1John 1:8-10.

We can walk in newness, knowing that we have been forgiven and cleansed from our sin. There is no sacrifice or "penance" we need to do to bring about forgiveness of our sins or make us right with God. We are just asked to believe and look to Jesus for all or our salvation.

As far as someone who isn't a believer, I am not sure if you are asking about how to tell this person about salvation in Jesus or how to address them about a sin in their lives. So, please respond back so we can know better what you are asking.

Yes, we are praying. Such a frightening occurrence for those fleeing.

Dear Lord Jesus, Be a shield between the fire and those trying to escape. Let these people escape in safety and acquire adequate shelter in these cold winter days. Allow aid to get to the region as you prompt people to supply needed supplies, food, and clothing to those who are displaced. Stop the fire from spreading further. Put it out quickly. We ask this in Your name, Jesus. Amen.

    Good Morning, Mishael,

I think that God does not mention races because He wants us all to recognize that we are all human beings of equal value to Him. Of course, He has guided DNA transmission through the ages to determine people groups with distinguishing characteristics. I think He loves the variety within His creation, and so should we. It is sad that people have been challenged since Noah's day (at least) with loving neighbors as ourselves in regards to racial differences. I wish this wasn't so, even now, but as believers, we can set an example of how we can love others as Jesus would have us, recalling how He has loved us so much, and displaying for others that God's love in and through us transcend the differences we see on the outside of people.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 4 years ago
Thanks Adam. It isn't hard to obey Jesus in His command to be water baptized. I feel that if e commanded it, then it is his will. Like Jesus, we should have a heart and mind set on doing the will of God.
  • S Spencer on Mathew 3:10-11. - In Reply on Deuteronomy 25 - 4 years ago
    Hi

    Mathew 3:10-11.

I would like to add one or two more things that I believe is to be very important. Whether by water baptism or baptism by the Holyspirit, is it evident in your life that spiritual baptism has taken place.

You will run into 2 major groups engage on this topic. One group is those who believe you are saved by confessing Jesus and keeping the commandments. Some of this group believe you can lose your salvation. This group is bond to a work base religion.

The other group believes "for by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:

Even the faith you are being saved through is not your faith! it is a gift of God!

You have nothing to offer God in terms of salvation! I hold this view.

True baptism when you "GENUINELY" accept Christ as your savior there is production in your life that begins. You can't produce it or keep it from producing as you feed on the word.

I will share a few by verses below and hopefully others can expand on them or add to.

Notice Paul' he didn't have much to say about water baptism, but he had a lot to say about baptism by the Holyspirit.

    Romans 6:4.

    Romans 6:6-8.

    Romans 6:11.

It does well to study all of Romans 6 to expand a little on "the production' of spiritual baptism.

    JOHNS BAPTISM.

you can see a picture of this transition for the Jews drawn out for you by Paul in Romans 7:1-2. Read all.

    Now read Mathew 3:10-11.

Israel was a natural branch that didn't bear fruit. Jeremiah 2:21. "Nor could it"

Also read Mathew 21:42-44. and John 15:1-7.

Now let's get back to our 2 groups.

You have the 1st group I mentioned that put themselves in bondage as did Israel and despising the truth.

believing in baptism outwardly but unbaptized inwardly.

    EXAMPLE: Romans 2:25-29.

    The 2nd group

    Philippians 3:3.

    Galatians 3:13.

    John 8:36.

    The outcome.

    1John 2:3.

    1 John 4:21.

This Love cannot be produced by self.

    God bless.

    A day unto the LORD,

Genesis 1:5, in chronological order of the Bible, maybe not exactly Chronological of actual dates of oldest to newest. 1st reference of day is evening & morning 1st day. Also light day & darkness night. Scientificly can be referenced to earths rotation being a day, approximately 24 hrs. That also in itself isn't completely finite, that's why we have time changes throughout the year spring & fall & leap-year in addition. In that day of creation was the determination as the rotation of the earth? Interestingly the sun & moon were not yet created, Genesis 1:16, therefore was the light from GOD? It does not specify the rotation nor exact hours. Yet classified as "the first day"

Genesis 2:4, it is quoted "in the day that the LORD God made the earth, and the heavens" as you ask? Here may possibly be the 1st time we can differentiate day being a moment of time, because the previous chapter already clarified/classified 1st day, 2nd day, etc.

    Genesis 2:17, Genesis 3:5,

Genesis 3:8, this may be the perfect example of clearly being 1 actual moment of a 24hr day. It would be interesting to know the different words used for each example from ealier translations & languages. To really study this more thoroughly.

Genesis 3:17 appears to be the 1st time in our translation & English wording that day is plural in multiple yet it was assumed previous as multiple yet as a single moment therefore classified as "a day" Genesis 5:2,

Again we see it Genesis 5:4,5,

Going further outside of Genesis; Luke 6:22-23, also being a moment not necessarily 1 rotation of earth. Luke 10:12, Luke 12:28, Luke 12:46, Luke 17:24, Revelation 6:17,

    2 Peter 3:8,10, reading in context 2 Peter 3,

1 Corinthians 13:9-13, Colossians 1:26, there are principles here that help us understand we don't know everything here on earth in the flesh.

    Hopefully this is helpful

Who/what were the giants referred to in Genisis? Were they the humanoid groups science has dug up the skeletons of?

If Adam was around 4000 BCE and God took 6000 years to bring him around, that would be about the end of the last ice age 10,000 BCE that God begin to redo the earth? Where does the proof of life from say 500,000 years ago, fit into the teachings of the Bible? Could Adam have been many 1000s of years before we are taught? Answers anyone?

I am wondering what others think about this article I read. I don't know if anyone can explain why God didn't explain different races. Would we be happier if we knew God purposed it that way?

The only differences explained are like: Jews, Palestinians, Caananites, all the "ites", etc.

I was an artist when younger. I learned how to make new colors from basic colors, plus white or black. I think it was people who began to value or devalue people according to color.

God used dust to form the first humans.

Have you ever sculpted with clay? The sculptor looks for earth that is shaded already; or they shade it themselves. Every piece can be different.

God made no distinction. We have no direction on skin colors.

We'd get bored to tears if every sunrise or sunset all looked identical. What if cats and dogs were all the same color? Yellow and pink & neon orange tee shirts make me feel hostile. What's up with that?

Amen! I have to come up with a little thing here now. Before I went into water baptism disease ravaged my body. It was like obsession, as soon as I approached the Word of God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit, I was crippled by asthma. And as soon as I turned my back I got well again !!!!. But in the end I was 39 years old I went in the water baptism and after that there was no obstacle and coming to Jesus. These are serious freers. And seriously!

I was a little afraid of being baptized in water. But something told me I had to try it. On the day of my baptism, I had bilateral pneumonia. But after the baptism in water, I actually started to get well right away!

So if there is anyone here who is constantly REMINDED and baptized but holds back defiantly, like a little infant. Then for your own sake you must learn and crawl to the CROSS. It may be that God has a greater service for you than the one you are in now.

Ill pray for u all who struggle with this. Because it's about doing something for the Lord. He who has done so MUCH for us. And if we talk about sex in this direction, we should be ashamed. If it should be. Then ladies can probably baptize each other on their own days and as I see it, no men need to see it at all.

    Problem solved!

There should never be an obstacle in being baptized. Will anyone be responsible for that? And hold back God's will? Now then the grave of all water baptisms should always be open. Unless there is a river, or sea nearby and hot weather. Let everyone who wants to be baptized do it right away! Do not hold back. And we do not need swimsuits either, we can baptize in the clothes that each individual wants. White clothes are religious, the main thing is the water!

1 Peter 3:21 The like figure whereunto even baptism doth also now save us (not the putting away of the filth of the flesh, but the answer of a good conscience toward God,) by the resurrection of Jesus Christ:

God bless u and a Happy New Year too u all, Love u in Christ

As this is an open Forum, with clear guidelines for posting, you will get other views/answers to your enquiries or beliefs, given with respect & understanding to all. • The Godhead and The Church - In Reply on Deuteronomy 25 - 4 years ago
The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.

    Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7

    Isaiah 6:8

    Romans 1:20

    Colossians 2:9

    Acts 17:27-30

    1 John 5:7

    John 10:30

"For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD so that they are without excuse:"

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

All working together. Jesus came to show us the Father, as Emmanuel.

    Matthew 1:23

Behold, a virgin shall be with child, and shall bring forth a son, and they shall call his name Emmanuel, which being interpreted is, God WITH US. [Jesus]

1 Corinthians 12:1-31 explains all the gifts, titled, administrations that God gives to the Church that Jesus has planted on earth Now.

Those that He calls, he anoints for the work. Luke 4:18. The Bible says the gifts and callings are without revocation. If we try to operate without the Holy Spirits anointing; we will not bear good fruit. Can even become apostate.

It's not something to treat carelessly. The Head of the Church is Jesus Christ. All parts of the Body are connected to Jesus.

Jesus is High Priest, sitting at the right hand of God the Father in heaven now. He ministered (on earth) in all offices of Prophet, Teacher, The Good Shepherd (pastor) and Evangelist.

An Apostle is one who has seen the risen Christ. And who operates in all 5 offices of ministry. All of Jesus's Disciples (except Judas Iscariot), became Apostles. Who are Church planters. I think missionaries most qualify as Apostles. (My opinion)

Most important church people: are the praise and worship leaders. "Enter His Courts with Praise."

It might help your studies to get

A King James Reference Bible WITH center of EACH page, Reference columns.

Each verse may have other scriptures in later pages that shed light on the verse you are currently studying. More info, future tie-in's, past tie-in's; fulfilled prophesies.

Moses wrote the first 5 books of the Bible. He'd be writing along and might have been interrupted? He was writing on scrolls. In some chapters the continuity is flowing; it picks up another idea, then it refers backward.

I always advise to take notes in Genesis and leave room for your own references. Read all the Geneologies.

There is no such thing as evolution which is what Satan tries to get us confused with.

By Genesis 3:15, the Godheads' plan to introduce the SON OF MAN, was activated.

Satan Took Adams dominion. Adam could have evicted Satan right then__but he protected Eve, and lost it. What we miss is that Satan WAS NOT HUMAN. He had to get permission from God, every time. Job 1.

If you stand back a little and look at what God had purposed already. He readied the earth. Provided creatures and food for all. Formed Adam to have dominion over all of it. Of course satan was jealous. But he was a snake and crafty. Isa.14 says he's short and covered in snakes, with a I WILL bad attitude.

Generations flow by and Creation waited for Jesus to be born. He had to be born Human. The whole Bible is Gods gift to you. Read often. You'll see the patience of God.

Jesus as a human, shed his blood over humanity and the earth; to win back dominion and authority over evil. He gives that to US HUMANS.

Antichrist will submit to be possessed by Satan. Losing his own soul.

We are living in exciting times! May we all follow Jesus to that Final Battle! Hallelujah to our King. He's taking us to heaven soon; CAUGHT UP in the clouds. Be Ready & look for the sign: abomination of desolation in Jerusalem.
