"Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience, as also saith the law."
1 Cor 14:37-38,
"If any man think himself to be a prophet, or spiritual, let him acknowledge that the things that I write unto you are the commandments of the Lord. But if any man be ignorant, let him be ignorant."
So if I see that I was given by God something more than the others, then I shouldn't think that I am something better than the rest, but maybe I am the part which lacked.
Jesse A, is right,
John is speaking to believers who are in the progressional stages of "sanctification of the Spirit unto obedience & sprinkling of the Blood of Jesus". they're learning & putting on Christ in ever increasing measures, yet they have not yet attain to the baptismal of Christ were self is crucified & they are "dead unto sin" but are in the working out of their salvation with fear & trembling, revealing the true fear of the Lord is working within their hearts, to depart from all evil.
In this ever increasing measures of growth in Christ/Grace/Light/Spirit 1John 1:8 is refer too, John commands them to 1John 2:1 keep repenting, remaining tender to the motions of His Spirit, with a heart devoted to the fear of the Lord until the appointed time of the Father when we are baptize with the baptismal of Christ, " thoroughly purged". We having experientially learnt the struggles of Rom 6 & 7 and have been brought to Rom 8:1,2 & their is no condemnation because His Word has
Isa 55:11, go & sin no more, we have been brought through 1Pet 5:10 in Christ, born again of the Incorruptible Seed & thus become incorruptible too, by the Cross/ Spirit / Grace / Light shining in our hearts & received John 1:12
through all these experiences in the working out of our salvation & in our continuing to perfecting of holiness in the love & fear of God, ever growing in Grace, we can say with John, 1John 1:1-3
Oh, praise the Lord, Psalms 62:5 Proverbs 23:18
2 Timothy 2:19 Psalms 93:5 " who houses we are"
the LORD, strengthen & encourage you
Friends, don't turn away from the Lord; Hebrews 12:29
who in His tender love trys our faith, whether it be birth & grounded in the doctrines of Christ.
True faith is birth of the Spirit & purifies the heart 1John 3:3 Psalms 24:3,4 Matt 5:8
If we are experiencing tribulations as define:
properly a pressing, pressing together, pressure within ,then our Refiner has come near us & we're in the fire being refined of false doctrines, sin or for whatsoever else He purposes are, for even after we are born again of His Spirit, tribulation & suffering continues in the perfecting of our faith, though now for a different purposes.
we're experiencing Psalms 89:14
Again, don't turn away from Christ, for He has come nearer to us, to purge out the dross
Love the Fire, its separates the precious from the vile, let us not hide our head in the darkness of an hole, like an ostrich & say i don't want to talk about it.
I hope you notice I said, we, us, our, Friends we all begin as miserable sinners, but we don't have to remain sinners.
Col 1:21,22 lets press towards the high calling in Christ Jesus
in love & truth
The apostle paul references almost the same in
Roman's all chapter 7
May God bless you.
He is not speaking to believers here in 1John:8 he is speaking to unbelievers! He is hoping to gain new converts to fellowship with as you will see if you read the proceeding verses like 1 John 1:3 "That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ."
Read on my friend. As believers we should be already be walking in truth 1 John 2:4 "He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him."
1 John 2:6
"He that saith he abideth in him ought himself also so to walk, even as he walked."
1 John 3:6
"Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him."
As Christians we should stop telling ourselves and others that we can never stop sinning. This is a defeatist attitude and comes not from Jesus or God. In many places Jesus tells us nothing is impossible if we have Faith!
Read and Believe
You took notice for a reason, all glory to God and His Holy Spirit. Christians have a bad addiction to sin! Just like any other addiction, if we don't acknowledge it and get help, we won't change, we will live in this condition until we die. If we remain a sinner, we will die as a sinner, and we will go to hell as promised in the scriptures.
In scripture below, Jesus promises the invalid that he previously healed that he should "sin no more" or something worse will happen to him!
John 5:14 "Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee."
If those who continue to tell themselves and others that we can't stop sinning, it's just like going up to that invalid that Jesus warned to "sin no more" now we would be telling him: hey we are all sinners, and none of us can ever really stop sinning. You would be stating the exact opposite of what Jesus/God just told the invalid not to do! Do you think God would approve of you telling the invalid that they can't stop sinning?
If we are saying we can't stop sinning, and telling others that they can't stop sinning, we should ask ourselves: Where is this belief/mindset that we can never stop sinning coming from? We know it isn't coming from God. 1John 3:8
I've learned the hard way it's best to not be in conflict with God or His Spirit. If he really loves us, if we sin - He can make us suffer in ways that can get our attention! If he doesn't see we are sincere about sin, a he can take our life, and soul, and put us in hell. I fear God, as we all should, and I offer this to you to help you. Better to say it's hard to stop sinning, but not impossible. God tells us all things are possible if you have faith as a mustard seed Matt 17:20 With God nothing is impossible for us!

Your opening statement is welcome & much appreciated,
I see that your knowledge of God is from the letter, this is contrary to the Scriptures
Its a knowledge without the Spirit & Life oF Christ, its fruit is a form of godliness without the power to be truly godly
Meaning; it does take away one sins.
Ronald;
how can one "be a slave of Jesus & continue in sin?"
quoting you;
"we have had 2000 years of leaven that we can see everywhere the whole lump is almost bloated."
This is evident token of what the letter produces &
would you consider yourselve a part of this bloatation in continuing to sin?
Rom 6:1,2,6,14,15,16,18,22
"These are about not to continue in sin, sinning without thought or repentance."
Where does it imply this? Are you saying your in premediation to sin and repent later? & if not how do you know you will get a chance to repent? Not to mention that godly sorrow of repentance is an adhorrance in oneself & a resignation of spirit in total reliance on the Grace of God to not commit it again
"accept Jesus and are baptized, "
which baptizmal are we speaking of water or fire? The fire refers to thoroughly purging the threshing floor of our hearts with
unquenchable fire, which burns up the sinful nature, the chaff, thus becoming dead unto sin
Ephesians 4:5 & becoming a partaker of the Divine Nature that does not sin having escape the corruption thru lust
" justified and made righteous no longer a servant to sin"
if you are no more a servant unto sin, then why are you still commting sin?
Ronald the knowledge that you have is not according to the Spirit of the Scriptures
this is not saying you don't have a sincere heart, but are deceived
Everyone haves their day of visitation from the Lord, when He set life & death before them, its a very solemn moment within ,
I pray that when your turn comes
you will choose life. you have a heart for God, just not the true knowledge.
Reread last thread, particularly the end. Waiting on the Lord.
-while disobeying HIS word then we became ineffective Christians who cannot even say boo to a demon.
Yes, Such People and ministries exist
-There are Men of God who are actually Led by the Spirit of God and are called according to the Gifts given to men by our Lord Jesus Christ, but instead of putting a show they fear God and walk with Him.
They that believe in Him, and they that are committed to His do Him will Revelation 12:11, KJV.
But what we are witnessing is.
-Men have departed from God and the church is a business and entertaining industries.
-Men don't pray earnestly before God and if they pray it's a shopping request rather than worship before God.
-No one is taking head according to the word of God and repentance has become optional this days where people have forgeten that God does not hear sinners ( John 9:31, KJV) and our sins separates us from our God (Isiah 59:2,KJV)
-Lets us pick our Bibles and wipe the dust off from them and lets us be given to God in prays and fasting seeking to fellowship with Him always while continuing in the word of GOD grounded in faith Amen.
-Remember faith without works is dead!
Lastly repent of your sin and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ
Amen.
-Wherefore When He died at the cross and purge our sins By Himself and rose on the Third day, He gave gifts unto men to be apostles, prophets, evangelist pastors and some to be teachers. ( Ephesians 4:7, KJV) This is clearly seen across different churches and in many Christians who have repented of their sins at the cross and believed in the Lord Jesus Christ the son of the Living God.
- It is also important to note that God put his power in Moses' rode, but it was upon Moses to pick it and use it. but according to Gods will ( exodus 4:1-3, KJV)
And Remember Elijah a man like us tempted like we are but prayed earnestly and the rain ceased and yet Elijah was a man like us ( James 5:17, KJV)
-The writer of the Book James clearly point this out to all Christians (those who have repented at the cross and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ the Son of the Living God) they that take head according to the word of God ( Psalms 119:9, KJV)
-That if there is anyone sick, let him call the elders of the church to pray for him anointing him with oil in the name of The Lord and the prayer of FAITH will save the sick and if he has committed sin the Lord will forgive Him.
-Moreover, in James 5:16, KJV) God clearly points this to us that we are to confess our trespasses to one other and to pray for one other that we may be Healed.
-For if we confess our sins to each other, we will remain humble in the Lord and when we pray with earnestly before God without doubting ( 1 timothy 2:8, KJV) the Lord is faithful who will also do it
Remember prayer is not a shopping list but worshiping the Lord God with Your heart mind and soul.
The conclusion of the matter.
-The Lord still heals the blind, heals the sick and raises the dead according to the Scriptures.
And He does not change but we me and you we change and if we pray in mockery and be covetous in ministry.
-Prophesying for attention picking and choosing the portions of the Scriptures that we want to believe
There was a question posted few weeks, regarding The Gift of The Holy Spirit.
Part 1
-I believe Jesus Christ is the son of the Living God and He died on the Cross for my sins, and He was buried and rose on the third Day and He is sited at the right hand of the father, and He is our high priest according to the order of Melchizedek.
-Brethren bear this in mind that God is the same and He does not change.
As it is written Malachi 3:6, kjv
For I am the LORD, I change not; therefore ye sons of Jacob are not consumed.
-As God spoke by the prophets in time past in these days, these last hours ( John 1:18) He speaks to us by His beloved son in whom we have been qualified to be saints in the inheritance in the light by His blood at the cross By repentance. ( Colossians 1:12-14,KJV)
-And if you have repented at the cross and received salvation which is by grace and faith alone none of any of our works then we receive gifts according to His will which He gives for the edifying of the ministry (body of Christ For He is the Head of the Church Colossians 1:18, KJV.)
As it written in Ephesians 4:7-8, KJV
7.But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ.
-And in time past ( Hebrews 1:1, KJV) They the prophets healed the sick, raised the dead and provided provisions and all according to the will of God and not mans will.
-Therefore, we serve the same Living God who has been in the beginning and Does not Change and Was manifest unto us as a child, but He was there from the begging as a Son given unto us as a Son Mighty God, everlasting Father. (Isiah 6:9 KJV)
As it is written in 1 timothy 3:16, KJV.
And without controversy great is the mystery of godliness: God was manifest in the flesh, justified in the Spirit, seen of angels, preached unto the Gentiles, believed on in the world, received up into glory.
Part 2 next.
Verse 1 states "In that day there shall be a fountain opened to the house of David and to the inhabitants of Jerusalem for sin and for uncleanness." This corresponds with the healing waters from the Temple in Ezekiel 47 as well as Revelation 20 for the nations of the world.
Verses 2 through 5 discuss the end of false prophets; even the death of a family member who prophesies lies. Verse 6 seems to also be a prophesy of Christ as well as a warning of how when the Lord returns there is no more toleration from anyone closely associated with a false prophet.
Verse 7 is clearly a prophesy of Christ as cross referenced in Matthew 26:31 since Christ quoted it.
Verse 8 and 9 discuss a subject I've mentioned previously in the posts on Zechariah; on the third that make it through the Tribulation. It should be noted that God hears them. I have also noted for those who think this is cruel as to the interpretation; that mankind will be rarer than gold overall when the Day of Judgment comes. ( Isaiah 13:12). Truly; the cost of rejecting their Messiah and many centuries of rebellion has cost Israel dearly as to blessings they could have had. Nonetheless, they are once again established in their homeland and they will never completely be annihilated there despite the gathering of all nations against them in the last days.
1 Cor 10:33, "Even as I(Paul) please all men in all things, not seeking mine own profit, but the profit of many, that they may be saved.
Philippians 2:19-21, "19But I trust in the Lord Jesus to send Timotheus shortly unto you, that I also may be of good comfort, when I know your state. 20For I have no man likeminded, who will naturally care for your state. 21For all seek their own, not the things which are Jesus Christ's."
Lets pay attention to verse 21. Even at that time people were interested in their affairs, with some exceptions like Paul and Timothy. How difficult is for one to devote himself to the needs of others. But Jesus did exactly that.
Have a blessed weekend.
Riches I heed not, nor man's empty praise,
Thou mine inheritance, now and always:
Thou and Thou only, first in my heart,
High King of heaven, my treasure Thou art.
2 concepts are indicated in these lyrics. First; praise isn't always accepted by God and second riches of this world often are treasured above the Lord. Both of these points are an issue when it comes to the Contemporary Christian music industry; in particular.
Lucifer according to Ezekiel 28 and Isaiah 14 was anointed as a Cherubim with musical giftings built into him. He chose glory for himself; therefore lost his place in heaven and consequently; can only use his talents for evil purposes today. It is hard to conceive that those who have written scripturally sound lyrics in the past could abandon the Lord; but mind boggling to see those who have continued to confess Christ but accept all the ideologies contrary to scripture. This is certainly reminiscent of the type of people you would expect in the last days Laodicean type church. The kind of God which is worshipped in this case is one sided toward love and acceptance and doesn't look at repentance seriously. God loved us enough to send His Son ( John 3:16) but when the Son had our sins placed on Him the Father had to look away. ( Matthew 27:46; Habakkuk 1:13).
There are exceptions; of course of artists whose lives truly reflect the proper doctrines; and show the proper behavior as a humble servant. This often at the very least means turning down more lucrative offers that cause compromise and starting your own music label. Many start in local churches then end up getting sucked into the greed of worldly desires for success and any new musician should have regular discipling and close association with a local church; preferably as a member. We should pray also for those who are gifted musically in secular circles that they will turn to Christ and witness to them when opportunities arise.
Well I looked that up and yes, there was that person Marcion in the early church who was teaching that there are 2 different Gods. An inferior God in the OT who was strict with people and a superior God in the NT who was mercyful to people. Markion claimed that YAHWEH was the God of the OT. He could not understand why God behaved in different ways in the Old from the New Testament. So he found the solution of 2 different Gods each of them acting in a different age. Still Markion didn't call devil the person that was called YAHWEH, just an inferior God. His teachings were condemned by the early church.

You did not address this directly with me, but I felt it. This is not to debate it with you. I know in my heart nothing I have posted comes from Satan. There is a difference between, we sin, and we serve sin, dead in or dead to.
Ephesians 2:1:4 When we are born, we are born dead in trespasses and sins, and we remain in that spiritually dead state until we believe in faith Jesus as our savior and are baptized for the remission of our sins, at that moment we who were dead in sin are made spiritually alive in Jesus, Ephesians 2:5.
We confess to now be dead to sin and the old way of living and walk in the newness of life found in following Jesus, Romans 6:1-4. We are dead to sin and alive to God and we have a new walk, Romans 6:2,11. Dead to sin means we are no longer a slave to sin, we are no longer serving sin, Romans 6:6. We no longer allow sin to reign in our body.
This doesn't mean that a Christian will ever reach a state of sinless perfection while on this earth. As long as we are in this mortal body, sins will on occasion be committed. However, the point we became dead to sin through Jesus we will never participate in a lifestyle of persistent, continual, habitual sin. We will never let sin reign over us again, we are no longer sin slaves.
Slip-ups and stumbles are likely, part of us having the Adamic nature, Jesus is faithful and just to forgive our sins if we confess them. If we go back to our evil ways slaves to sin letting sin reign over us instead of our Savior Jesus, no more forgiveness, we are again dead in sin, living in sin.
This is what my understanding is, given to me through prayer and the guidance of the Spirit of God. If we say or teach we can get to a point while in this mortal body, we will never sin again, is that not the same as you shall not surely die??? Only One has or ever will live in this flesh and did not sin. Repentance is not a one-time thing, it is how we live, our walk in the Spirit.
God bless,
RLW
The overriding scriptural message is asking us to Repent. I question whether many Christians today really understand what repent means.
Acts 2:38 "Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."
Romans 8:8 "So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God."
Romans 8:9 "But ye are not in the flesh, but in the Spirit, if so be that the Spirit of God dwell in you. Now if any man have not the Spirit of Christ, he is none of his."
Meaning of the word Repent.
Verb:
1: to turn from sin and dedicate oneself to the amendment of one's life
2: to feel regret or contrition
b: to change one's mind
transitive verb
1: to cause to feel regret or contrition
2: to feel sorrow, regret, or contrition for
I continue to hear Christians on this site, and elsewhere telling themselves and everyone else that they will always sin. They have accepted that as long as they live, they will always be sinners. This thinking/mindset comes directly from satan, who else would encourage you to think this way, which is totally against scripture.
Romans 6:6 "Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."
1 John 3:6 "Whosoever abideth in him sinneth not: whosoever sinneth hath not seen him, neither known him."
Living in sin - does not meet the expectation of God for us to REPENT!
Living in sin yourself is one thing, telling others that they can never stop sinning is another. Thinking like this and speaking like this is not very encouraging to yourself, or others. Something to think about.
Happy Sabbath Day
The grk "machaira" may refer to a sword but also to a dagger or a knife. I think it was impossible for Jews to cary real swords with them while being under Roman rule, they were in a risk to be called rebels. So what Peter had with him was most probably a dagger or simply a knife. Lets not forget that Jesus and the apostles had no permanent residence, so they carried together with them all that was needed for cutting, say, bread or meat or use in small works. I also don't think that Jesus would ever allow them carrying swords with them, and secretely. This is against His teachings. This is also shown by His answer to Peter.
In Luke 22:36 Jesus speaks metaforically, He warns His disciples that for a while (those 3 days) they will on their own, without His protection, so they must be ready for that.
Interesting sign-in name, just to add to Jema's wonderful reply. My understanding Jesus came to fulfill the law and the prophets and Jesus asking them in Luke 22:36 to buy swords was part of fulfilling the prophecy. He told them in, Luke 22:37 For I say unto you, that this that is written must yet be accomplished in me, And he was reckoned among the transgressors: for the things concerning me have an end.
Isaiah 53:12 Therefore will I divide him a portion with the great, and he shall divide the spoil with the strong; because he hath poured out his soul unto death: and he was numbered with the transgressors; and he bare the sin of many, and made intercession for the transgressors.
In Luke 22:36-38, He tells them why the swords they had would be enough, then in verse 52, we see they came with swords and spears as against a thief. Jesus was also put on the cross between two thieves, Matthew 27:38. Even the least of the not obvious prophecies, Jesus fulfilled them all.
God bless,
RLW
How do you explain the enmity between the (seed of the serpent) and the (seed of the woman) in ( Gen 3:15)? seed meaning child, bear, conceive seed.
The word (again) is #3254; it means to add or augment, ((to continue to do a thing)), come more + conceive. Augment means to make (something already developed or well under way) greater. Therefore God greatly multiplied her conception as in ( Gen 3:16) God said "in sorrow shalt thou bring forth children" Whatever she did with the serpent was why God put enmity between the serpent seed and the womans seed. and why God greatly multiplied her sorrow and her conception.
God allowed her to have twins which greatly multiplied her conception.
To continue to do a thing means give birth and continue to give birth again. Cain and Abel were twins.
I refuse to argue with anyone Benny. Its sad that somebody on this site can say really bad things about another and accuse them of being argumentive and some will just run with that whether its truth or not. Friendly discussions, or even friendly debates is a great way to learn from each other and grow as the Body of Christ. We must humbly seek the Truth and not think we already know it all, we do not!
Truth is what matters Benny.
Blessings to you.
1 Thessalonians 5:1-111
1But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
3For when they shall say, Peace and safety; then sudden destruction cometh upon them, as travail upon a woman with child; and they shall not escape.
4But ye, brethren, are not in darkness, that that day should overtake you as a thief.
5Ye are all the children of light, and the children of the day: we are not of the night, nor of darkness.
6Therefore let us not sleep, as do others; but let us watch and be sober.
7For they that sleep sleep in the night; and they that be drunken are drunken in the night.
8But let us, who are of the day, be sober, putting on the breastplate of faith and love; and for an helmet, the hope of salvation.
9For God hath not appointed us to wrath, but to obtain salvation by our Lord Jesus Christ,
10Who died for us, that, whether we wake or sleep, we should live together with him.
11Wherefore comfort yourselves together, and edify one another, even as also ye do.
I wonder if any of the gospel critics have given this incident any serious consideration?
