    Actually, Jimbob,

The Holy Spirit "shows up" in Genesis 1:2 and elsewhere in the Old Testament. David cried out that God would not take His Holy Spirit from him in Psalm 51:11.

    Larryc,

I also believe the nails were through His hands. John 20:27 seems to indicate hands.

I have also heard some say the nails were through His wrists. The reason they say this is because of the bone structure. They say that the way the wrist bones form right below the hand, that is the only way a nail would support the weight of the body.

My thoughts are that they probably tied Him down first before they drove the nails in, but that is just speculation on my part.

About the current END of the time, at July 7, 2020 I opened a tpic in the site of baptistboard, as follow:

Topic: NATION shall rise against NATION ... G7 will be DISSOLVED?

Discussion in 'Other Christian Denominations' started by Oseas3, Jul 7, 2020.

The END of the World is at door, but is not yet. For nation shall rise against nation, and kingdom against kingdom: and there shall be famines, and pestilences, and earthquakes, in divers places. All these are the beginning of sorrows.

G7, and G20, and EU, and UNO, among others Entities, will be DISSOLVED henceforward. Day after day, the happenings of the World will run in this way.

The heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word were kept in store, reserved unto fire against THIS DAY OF JUDGMENT and perdition of ungodly men.

Seeing then that all these things shall be DISSOLVED, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, looking for and hasting unto the coming of the Day of God - this Lord's Day - , wherein the heavens being on FIRE - it is not material fire - shall be DISSOLVED, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat?

Nevertheless the God's people, according to His promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness. Wherefore, beloved, seeing that ye look for such things, BE DILIGENT that you may be found of Him in peace, without spot, and blameless.

1John 2:v.28 - And now, little children, abide in Him; that, when He shall appear, all may have confidence, and not be ashamed before Him at His coming.

In Christ JESUS, KING of kings and LORD of lords

    Your fellow in Christ

Your thinking is from human perspective, a stumblingblock, not from GOD's perspective- Matthew 16:23-23.

In Romans 5:9 Paul was speaking of the salvation of the wrath, NOT of the salvation of the tribulation. It seems you don't know to distinghish between WRATH and TRIBULATION. When Paul, author of Romans, returned to Lystra, and Iconium and Antioch- Acts 14:22-, he said to the believers to exhort the disciples to continue in the faith, because we must through much tribulation enter into the kingdom of GOD(as is written in Revelation 11:15-18 and 1 Cor.15:24-26).

Furthermore, you repetidly say in your post the Father WRATHED against His Son, the Christ, the Messiah, what you are preaching will NEVER happended, GOD the Father NEVER wrathed against His Son, so what you wrote is devilish, in fact is satanic. As was revealed to Isaiah "Surely he -JESUS, the Messiah- hath borne our griefs and carried our sorrows, He was WOUNDED for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities: the CHASTISEMENT WAS UPON HIM (NOT THE WRATH OF THE FATHER AS YOU IN MALIGN SENSE WROTE) and with His stripes we are healed. Yeah, GOD NEVER wrathed against His own Son. By the way, your evil post is a confirmation of what is written the Word of GOD: "he that is of the earth is earthly, and speaketh of the earth"- John 3:31:

Your interpretation of Scriptures is not different of the man of sin, son of perdition- Genesis 3:1, but equal. GOD forbid us.

Well, in fact "no man knoweth the Son, but the Father; neither knoweth any man the Father, save the Son, and he to whomsoever the Son will reveal Him- Matthew 11:27. It's it.

The (Holy Ghost) first shows up in the Bible in the New Testament.

( Jn 14:26) "But the Comforter, (which is the Holy Ghost), whom the Father will send ((the Father WILL send, this is future)) in my name, he shall teach you all things, ((he SHALL teach you all things, also future tense)) and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John said the Father (will send) the Holy Ghost.

( 1 Cor 2:12-13) v13 "Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

(teacheth) is #1318; it means instructed or objectively communicated by teaching, taught.

(Holy) is #40; it means sacred, (physically pure, morally blameless or religious, consecrated) (most) holy (one, thing) clean, innocent, PERFECT, pure.

(Ghost) is #4151; it means a current of air i.e. breath, a spirit, (superhuman) an angel, or (divine) God, Christ's spirit, the Holy Ghost, spirit (-ual, _ually).

The Holy Ghost instructed or communicated by teaching.

( 2 Pet 1:20-21) v20 Knowing this first, that no prophecy of the scripture is of any private interpretation.

v21 For the prophecy came not in old time by the will of man: but holy men of God spake as they were moved by the Holy Ghost. The Holy Ghost instructed or communicated by teaching.

This is speaking of the prophecy that we have today which came to us not by the will of man in 1611, but by the teaching of the Holy Ghost which compares spiritual things with spiritual, instructing He communicates and teaches you all things. That's why the KJB is the pure, preserved words of the LORD, ( Ps 12:6-7) The Words of the LORD are Perfect, Every word is pure ( Proverbs 30:5-6).

The holy men of God who were moved by the Holy Ghost (was) the translators of the KJB.

How could anyone possibly see this any other way?

The Truth should be what matters if we seek it.

God Bless all who seek His Truth.

That isn't a very beneficial attitude to take regarding these very serious spiritual matters. As for women not being impressionable, the retail sector bears women out on how impressionable they are for new fashions, hair styles, makeup, and the rest. Women also tend to lend an ear to other "friends" who might or might not give them all the best advice. These spiritual matters are of no laughing matter I can assure you of that.

    Ephesians 6:12-13 (KJV)

12 For we wrestle not against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this world, against spiritual wickedness in high places.

13 Wherefore take unto you the whole armour of God, that ye may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand."

Spiritual gifts, also known as charisms or gifts of the Holy Spirit, are abilities or powers that are believed to be given to individuals by a higher power, such as God, for the purpose of serving others and building up the faith community. While there are various spiritual gifts mentioned in different religious traditions, I'll provide a list of some common spiritual gifts recognized in Christianity:

    1. **Discernment of Spirits:** This gift involves the ability to perceive and understand the spiritual realm, including distinguishing between divine and malevolent influences.

    2. **Prophecy:** The gift of prophecy is the ability to receive and communicate messages from a divine source, often concerning future events or moral guidance.

    3. **Wisdom:** Those with the gift of wisdom have a deep understanding of spiritual truths and can apply this knowledge to practical situations.

    4. **Knowledge:** This gift involves a profound comprehension of spiritual and theological matters, often coupled with the ability to impart this knowledge to others.

    5. **Faith:** Individuals with the gift of faith have an unwavering trust in God and can inspire others to trust in divine providence.

    6. **Healing:** This gift allows individuals to serve as instruments through which God can bring physical, emotional, or spiritual healing to others.

    7. **Miracles:** Those with the gift of miracles can perform supernatural acts that go beyond the natural laws, often to strengthen the faith of others.

    8. **Tongues (Speaking in Tongues):** This gift involves speaking in a language unknown to the speaker, which may require interpretation for the benefit of others.

    9. **Interpretation of Tongues:** This gift complements the gift of tongues by allowing individuals to interpret the messages spoken in tongues for the edification of the community.

    10. **Helps or Service:** This gift involves assisting and serving others with a willing heart and a sens

    Hello Jordyn.

I guess we differ on what we consider to be free will. I believe that our free will is still intact, but because of the sinful nature it is corrupted and depraved of being able to choose good without the grace of God. Each person uses their free will whenever they sin.

In the case of the of the Amorites, they continued to choose rebellion against God without repentance. God is omniscient and he foreknew the wickedness of the Amorites and when their degree of sin will be at its full (at the time of the Israelites coming back to Canaan) Just because God foreknew this doesn't mean that the Amorites did not have free will to continue to sin against God. It seems that you have surmised this to be the case. God does direct history to accomplish His purposes and will, not because He forces some to be wicked and others to be favored, but because He knows all things and is also all powerful. He can cause events to happen in order to fulfill His purposes, but He does not choose sin for anyone. He allows it to occur, and in His foreknowledge, brings together the people and events to bring judgment on the wicked or blessing on the favored.

As a side note, Jordyn, excuse me if I am wrong. But your writing sounds a lot like Brother Earl. Is this Earl once again under a new screen name? It is o.k. if it is. I don't mind. Just wondering.

Adam's transgression as simple as it appears in human thought, got us in to this whole mess, This reveals to us God's utter abhorrence of the least sin, what would happen to you, & others of like faith, if y'all suddenly get kill, before having a chance to repented & repentance be actually granted?

The godly fruit of repentance that God is looking for here is a forsaking of sin, with a utter abhorrence of it. This is the change of mind that is birth with a godly sorrow within the hearts & minds of mankind by His Spirit.

To continue in sin & repentance for life is liken to this true proverb 2Pet 2:22 the expression of the context Peter is relating is once cleansed, thoroughly purged, & being born again, one is dead indeed unto sin.

Another point of this proverb is the one's that continue back & forth in sin & supposedly repents as a way of life has never been born again, nor transformed, "old things has not pass away, all things has not become new" so, their still pigs or dogs & will continue to do naturally what pigs & dogs do.

The deceitfulness of sin has him ensnared, their continue disobedience has dull their hearing & blinded their senses, one's faith is a lie, despite their profession, their confessions & sinful works declares their hypocrites. Satan power is so great that he can remove the condemnation & yet the cause of it, one's spiritual sinful nature is not crucify on the Cross of self denial, nor can one say their following Christ. "following Christ" is the great emphasis of Christ command here, for if we're following Christ, we will not continue in sin as a way of life. There a time when Holy Spirit find us in sin, a time of cleansing, & a time of being seal & gathered to the Gardner. Matt 3:12

1Pet 4:1 common sense reveals we must still be living in the flesh for this to take place.

    Sister GiGI:

I am not you adversary, just a living stone, as are you, in the HOUSE God BUILT.

You comments in first two paragraphs were DEAD ON, GOD'S PURPOSE, being fulfilled.

Yet, in your third paragraph, you attribute the demise of the Amorites to THEIR FREE WILL, instead of GOD'S PURPOSE.

Proverbs 16:4 The LORD hath made all things FOR HIMSELF, yea, EVEN the WICKED for the day of evil.

They had no FREE WILL to do anything other than the APPOINTED WILL of GOD.

Romans 9:17 For the scriptures SAITH UNTO PHARAOH, for this PURPOSE have I raised you up ......

Isaiah 44:8 That saith of Cyrus, you are my shepherd, and shall perform all my pleasure .....

Amazing to think about all these things.

In LOVE, for the truth God has PURPOSED for us.

    God Bless YOU!

    Richard, Hello again,

I wanted to respond to your request for topics. I often try to think of topics that I would like to see discussed here, but often do not come up with anything for myself. This is why I often do not begin threads (except commenting on the OT readings I been working through). I like it when others begin conversations here and I prefer to read some responses before I chime in. I would rather have someone else speak some of what I am thinking than myself because I know that I am very "wordy" and thorough. So, I want to leave it up to others to contribute much of the time so that I don't write what others may be thinking. I would rather they have first chance at speaking.

So, I do not have any topics to suggest to you. For me, if I were to choose topics, my heart normally goes to the attributes and character of God, the person and work of Jesus, how the Holy Spirit works in us, and the wonders of the life to come. If we grow in our knowledge and understanding of these doctrines (Scriptural truths) then we can mature in our faith and hope in God who is the true object of our devotion, worship, and motivation for living godly lives in this sinful world.

    Richard,

I do find your posts interesting and well thought through. Thanks

The topics of OSAS and the RAPTURE are two topics that get many responses and that is good. I am one who have not been convinced by the Scriptures dispensationalists give for the rapture. Since I can find no Scripture stating it will occur or that it was a false teaching at the time of the NT writers, then there would be no Scriptures also that openly refute it. I just go by what Jesus said in Matt. 24 and the other gospels that present the Olivet discourse. He does not speak of coming twice, oncer for the rapture and again at the end. He speaks of coming at the end. So I believe His Second Coming is a one time, not progressive coming and that it comes at the end of historical time-the end of the age. Then comes judgment.

As to OSAS, there are Scriptures that support this doctrine and those that refute it, so I am not hard and fast on this topic.

Sometimes people use Scripture wisely to support what they present here. Other times people post many Scriptures and not much commentary. Others just speak their mind without citing Scriptures. I think all of these approaches are good and helpful. Not everyone agrees with me on this, but that is their prerogative to do so.

I enjoy responding to your posts. They make me think and check out the Scriptures. So, thank you for your input here. I love learning on here.

Yeah you summed up things better than me and that without much preparation. It would be nice to find someone on occasion to collaborate with; there is some tough resistance here at times. I always try to bolster things with as much scripture as possible.

Getting an impartial critical analysis of my writing would be helpful for both exhortation and encouragement. I am not sure what I should put more research into; more or less I just come up with ideas daily and go to town. May not be the best way to do things.

The OSAS definitely had some comments; the Pre Trib rapture stuff probably more than anything. It is hard to fathom those who don't understand verses that indicate this; I have written a number in the past. My viewpoint still leaves the possibility of some being left behind; but I am not dogmatic about it. Hopefully whenever anyone has an argument here with myself or anyone else on the forum scriptures can b used as a counter argument; although I have seen little evidence lately. Seems like some are in a very detailed storyline which I can't really follow; or else they are scant on scripture. Some of course I don't respond to for various reasons.

If there are any subjects you think I should tackle let me know I have probably run low on ideas until I hear something new at church or another real life situation comes up.

Yes, God chooses to work through us, flawed people. He is sovereign and our sinful ways cannot thwart His righteous will. What He wills will be accomplished even if it is done through the actions of sinful people.

Jacob is a good example of this. If he had not fled to Laban's home and country, Esau would probably have killed him. In the process of getting there and returning home (20 years later) God revealed Himself to Jacob personally on a number of occasions. He must have been told about God from his grandfather, Abraham and father, Isaac, but knowing God personally came through his trials, failings, and eventual surrender to the directions of God leading Him back to his family in the land God promised to Abraham. Yet, even when back in Canaan, he was not there until he died. He moved to Egypt under Joseph's protection. This move brought about the centuries of bondage in Egypt prophesied to Abraham.

Then we have Moses, the deliverer who had to flee Egypt to Midian and spend 40 years tending sheep before God calls him to lead His people out of Egypt. What happened to Moses in those 40 years we really do not know. But we can pretty much assume that God was preparing Moses to be the prophet who leads the nation of Israel back to Canaan. What influence was Jethro to Moses concerning who the Most High was? Did Moses worship the Most High with Jethro prior to the burning bush experience? Did Aaron visit Moses at any other time besides the time spoken of in Exodus? The adverse circumstances of Moses' life were ordained by God to bring everything into alignment with the history God wanted to occur.

The time spent in Egypt allowed for the fullness of the transgression of the Amorites to occur and so be readied to be wiped out by the Israelites as judgment for what the people of the Amorites had chosen of their own free will. Their rebellion was so complete that their destruction was God's will.

Amazing to think about these things.

As an evidence of God's faithfulness, Abram's name was changed to Abraham. Whereas he had been "great father" (Abram), he would be known from now on as the "father of a great people" (Abraham).

It is an indisputable fact that most of the "Witches" and "Mediums" of Scripture, and these "Later Days," were and are women.

It was through Eve and not Adam that Satan sought to destroy the race. The reason may be that the nervous and impressionable character of women is better adapted to demon influence. - Rev. Clarence Larkin

Jacob the deceiver. Continued discussion of how God worked through a supplanter.

Genesis 28 through 30 go through the story of Jacob after his mother thrust him out to find a wife from among her people; in this case from Laban. Jacob immediately fell for Rachel and after seven years of labor for Laban he was given a wife but he found out in the morning that it was Leah; the older sister. This was not his fault; but nonetheless, God recognized the marriage. In fact; Jacob's attitude toward her in the seven year further wait for Leah (because of Laban's deception) caused Leah to bear many children as she was despised and turned to God for direction. She gave glory to God; and some versions seem to indicate her prayers were answered; after six kids God finally opened Rachel's womb; but not before she had him sleep with the handmaiden for several children who would later be part of the 12 tribes. We should learn here that when we despise someone for somebody else God can bless the person as he is just (as with Leah). God's purposes were done with Jacob's actions; or despite them. Eventually Jacob had a sort of forgiveness and understanding with Esau; his actions may have prevented him from carrying out his plans to kill him out of jealousy. Jacob also found ways to get revenge on Laban for cheating him many years; again the Lord's will was done but not through any righteousness on Jacob's part necessarily. His struggle with God in Genesis 32:22-32 shows a tenacity perhaps unmatched in all history; that a mere man could wrestle with God all night (probably Christ preincarnate) and only through the hip wound the wrestling match was ended. That tenacity for a blessing is something we all can look at as something to emulate in our prayers!

Genesis 31:34 shows how Rachel hid her household gods; something God could have destroyed her and Jacob for. The Lord at that time overlooked it but who knows how much more blessing she could have had without them?

Always verify what clergy tries to teach you via the bible itself..

Acts 17:11 (KJV) 11 These were more noble than those in Thessalonica, in that they received the word with all readiness of mind, and searched the scriptures daily, whether those things were so.

Like Ronald Reagon once said "trust, but verify!"

"Greetings brothers and sisters in Christ,

I was reading through the first bible I ever owned and right next to the scripture I had written "Gift of discernment of Spirits."

    Acts 16:16-18 (KJV)

16 And it came to pass, as we went to prayer, a certain damsel possessed with a spirit of divination met us, which brought her masters much gain by soothsaying:

17 The same followed Paul and us, and cried, saying, These men are the servants of the most high God, which shew unto us the way of salvation.

18 And this did she MANY DAYS. But Paul, being grieved, turned and said to the spirit, I command thee in the name of Jesus Christ to come out of her. And he came out the same hour.

No all that glitters is gold... Paul used his gift of discernment of Spirits and could tell this testimony was of demonic origin. The demonic spirit was stating the truth, but Paul not wanting testimony from a demonic spirit cast it out of her!

So too must we use our spiritual gifts of discernment of spirits to make sure who and what we are dealing with even though it might render some biblical truths. We must be certain that it is of a holy origin, as not all that glitters is gold."

    Sister Jema:

God's Blessings on you, TODAY, this day of our Lord.

You ask what I SEE (by the GRACE of our Lord) concerning God's kingdom, now on EARTH, and forever to be on EARTH.

Isaiah 45:18 For thus saith the Lord that created the heavens, God himself that formed the earth and made it, he hath establish it, he created it not in vain, he formed it to be INHABITED: I am the Lord, and none else.

Daniel 12:4 But thou, Oh Daniel, seal up the words, even unto the time of the end; many shall run to and fro, AND KNOWLEDGE (of the POWER of God) SHALL BE INCREASED.

The POWER of the WORKS of CHRIST'S CROSS has been lost to the doctrines of man.

Paul said: when I am gone grievious wolves shall come in and destroy the flock.

For about 2000 years now God's people (a remnant) have been isolated in small flocks, each being GIVEN small amounts of truth.

God uses evil for GOOD, and I do BELIEVE the world wide web is EVIL, BUT by the increase of knowledge to have world wide communication, God's remnant is being brought together to CONFESS THEIR SINS TO EACH OTHER.

Not the SINS of the FLESH, they DIED on the CROSS, OUR SIN OF UNBELIEF, the POWER given us by the RESURRECTION of Christ. The POWER of JUDGEMENT, to first judge ourselves, then the WORLD.

Our beggerally little flock HAS NOT been eating enough FOOD, only the CRUMBS from a table that is all YOURS.

There is NOTHING to be ADDED, nor can anything be TAKEN AWAY, WE are a FINISHED CREATION, all by the RESURRECTION of CHRIST.

    God BLESS YOU!

    Right and wrong: Further considerations.

We can see a principle involved when it comes to life and death. At the time of Moses; the Pharaoh commanded that the Jewish babies be killed ( Exodus 1:15-22). This involved the boys only; the midwives ignored this; thus Moses himself was preserved ironically his own mother was paid to nurse him until he was raised by Pharoah's daughter ( Exodus 2:8-10). Strange happenings indeed. Later we see the same thing happen under Herod in Matthew 2:16-18. The Lord warned Joseph and he was out of the area at this time. In these situations we can certainly see that taking a life is against God's law and therefore we must not follow man's law of such destruction. Satan is clearly attempting to destroy as many as he can created in God's image.

Abraham screwed up twice in regard to lying about his wife during famine and in another difficult situation because he feared for his life. God worked that out supernaturally to show the importance of the marriage covenant and the fact that Abraham was a Prophet. ( Genesis 12:11; Genesis 20:2). Amazingly in Genesis 26:7 Isaac did the same thing with Rebekka. You would thing the lesson would have been learned but clearly certain sins run in the family. What we don't know in these situations is whether those who housed these men's wives at the time would have tried to kill these men if they didn't say anything; since God Himself spoke to them probably not; or they wouldn't have succeeded. The last case involved a Philistine king; again pagans had their conscience pricked (in this case Isaac's behavior made it clear he was her husband). We should consider in all this the sanctity of marriage.

We see Biblical characters such as Jacob messing around with what would have been Esau's blessing. ( Genesis 27-29). Esau wanted his brother murdured ( Gen. 27:41). Heb. 12:16 shows Esau also was a fornicator; and previously had sold his birthright for food ( Gen. 25:29-34). So God allowed it

Moral dilemmas: Knowing the difference between right and wrong.

The scriptures have situations where God accomplishes His purposes despite the behaviors of His messengers or those fulfilling His will. We see Sampson; and his attraction to Philistine women which eventually degraded to being involved with Delilah; a prostitute that brought him shame and ruin ( Judges 16). God eventually used this to allow Sampson to be humbled through blindness then deliberately end his life and thus defeat more Philistines than he did all his life ( Judges 16:29).

We see Jonah and his deliberate disobedience in going to Tarshish rather than Nineveh. God somehow used his message to not only convince repentance from the top leadership to the common people in Nineveh; but also for those he was travelling with on the ship after they were forced to toss Jonah into the sea to save themselves from shipwreck.

Even the story of Esther is questionable from what some interpret happened in a Harem type situation; she also took over as wife of the king which would be considered adultery. It could still be considered as a second wife since divorce is NEVER mentioned in the Bible except Joseph's consideration of it with Mary. It was discussed as an action that could be taken in Deut. 24 but no saints of God or anyone else are mentioned even among pagans that did such a thing. Food for thought....

God would wink at certain things in the past but now of course we are at a higher standard under Christ. ( Acts 17:30). No doubt rewards were lost for those who weren't dealt with in this life if repentance didn't occur; we don't see specific chastising mentioning the particular sins of Sampson (perhaps implied in his death); and for Jonah there seems to be no indication that he ever had the love for the Ninevites at the end of the story; we only see God's rebuke for him feeling sorry for a plant instead.

In upcoming posts we will consider situations where right and wrong appear nebulous.
