What does it mean to be born again? Good question ....As Peter says being bornagain of an incorruptible seed even by the word of God that liveth and abideth for ever.....meaning by the living word which is spirit.....My Words are spirit and life....The Woman in Rev.12 :5 is the best example of being bornagain....And she is giving birth to a baby Christ thats y Jesus said unless you receive the Kingdom of God as a lil Child you will in no wise enter there in....Plz note Rev.12:10....No Kingdom or any kind of Salvation comes till the woman gives birth to the Child which is the H.G. the Child of Promise.....Jesus plainly tells us That Which is born of the spirit is spirit which is the H.G. that is born in us via his spirit his living word.....Thats y he has to know us....So that his good seed might be sown in our hearts and minds producting a baby Christ.....The wheat is a baby Christ simply b/c the sower of that good seed is Christ the bridegroom.....Even in the natural a BIRTH IS ALWAYS INDICATIVE OF A CHILD.....As we have borne the image of the earthy our 1 st birth we must also birth the image of the Heavenly a spiritul Child the H.G. that Child of Promise.....Thats y Jesus always refers to himself as the SON OF MAN.....Mankind needs to birth a baby Christ in our hearts and minds....That New CREATURE.....Our new hearts n new spirits

Yes RyanL, it would be wrong to do so, because your first responsibility is to your employer or to your clients if you're self-employed. But if you can arrange to have Saturday off for some relaxation (and this is very important also) without affecting someone else's expectation of you, then use that time to relax, recuperate, even get into God's Word for some spiritual nourishment.

When we picture God's kingdom today, we see that the Holy Spirit is everywhere, in u and me, who belive in Jesus Christ. Yes, we are tempted to say that it is a complete work. IF it weren't for Jesus saying: A lot of stuff. When He Lived, He Died and Rose Again on the 3rd Day, right? So in those words, He has fulfilled what you are talking about.

When I came to faith, I saw the abomination standing on the temple mount today! Oh, I've never felt or feel associated with the prophet Daniel. And those who turn to the Prophets today to talk about the end times must be confused. I will be. It is the evil self who causes confusion. Reading Genesis 1:27, in my understanding what matters and prevails is the mystery of creation of man. But how? By the way, First of all, GOD is Spirit; GOD is the Word, self-executing. But how is the image of the Spirit of GOD? GOD alone -the Word is GOD- couldn't create man, He first needed to create an IMAGE of His Person - JESUS - , as is written in Hebrews 1:1-3 and 8.

By the way, man crreated by GOD is without sin, thus the conclusion about the corrupt generations the creator is another, an usurper, a lost one who grafted his evil seed into the one GOD had created - 1John 3:10-12. Terrible, very terrible.

That is what the Word of GOD says - Leviticus 17:11&14.

The soul is the own existence, it is the life, and the life(soul) of the body is the blood, so the blood is the soul.

Paul Apostle in his epistle to the Church of Corinthians, said: 1 Corinthians 15:50KJV - Now this I say, brethren, that flesh and blood(soul/life of the body) cannot inherit the kingdom of GOD; neither doth corruption inherit incorruption.

No Mr. Landry. There was no contradiction. I was making a distinction between the soul of someone who had become "saved", Born Again. And someone who had not been "saved". The eternal condition of the soul is very different in the two cases.

Also, I have not seen a response from you regarding the very specific questions regarding your beliefs that I posed to you. Perhaps you could share that.

Hi Halfpint13. I'm sorry that I can't give you specific help with your question, as I'm neither a Jew nor literate in Hebrew. But if I could direct you to My Jewish Learning, and at the Search box at the top right of the main page, type in Conventions of Biblical Poetry. This is an interesting study on this subject, even as the three main poetic Bible books of the Psalms, Lamentations, & Song of Songs reveal. What one would read in the Hebrew could not be replicated in English (even the KJV), unless one alters the wording to give texts its poetic form. As you noted, some Bible versions do make an attempt to present such writing & thus enabling to be used in speech.

2 Corinthians 5:14 .... that if ONE died for ALL,then were all DEAD.

Colossians 3:3 For ye are DEAD, and your life is hid with Christ IN God.

Romans 6:6 ....our old man is CRUCIFIED with him .......

Galatians 2:20 I am CRUCIFIED with Christ: nevertheless I live, YET NOT I, but Christ liveth in ME .....

Ephesians 2:6 And hath raised US UP TOGETHER ......

Isaiah 26:9 Thy DEAD men shall arise, TOGETHER with my dead body shall they ARISE ....

I remain puzzled as to your belief that the soul of a true believer is not immortal, i.e. has everlasting life.

2 Corinthians 5:6 Therefore we are always confident, knowing that, whilst we are at HOME IN THE BODY we are ABSENT FROM THE LORD:

2 Corinthians 5:7 (For we walk by faith, not by sight:)

2 Corinthians 5:8 We are confident, I say, and willing rather to be ABSENT FROM THE BODY and to be PRESENT WITH THE LORD.

So, if when the body of a true believer goes into the grave when they die, how do you understand 2 Corinthians 5:8? What does it mean to be "absent from the body and present with the Lord". Is God lying to us here?

And then, what does it mean to be Born Again? In what part of our existence are we Born Again? Certainly not in our body until the last day when we receive our resurrected spiritual body.

Then we have the passages that talk about Christ bringing all of the believers with him when he returns at the last day.

I do certainly agree that if someone dies unsaved, both their body and soul die and they cease to have conscious existence. But we are talking here about true believers that have been BORN AGAIN. So what happens to their soul both at the time that God "saves" them, and when they die physically.

I'm sorry to say, Ronald, that we seem to have a very different understanding of what it means to be "saved". And I am unaware of the scriptures that would teach your understanding.

And I think that is not an incidental and unimportant difference in any sense.

May God lead us into truth as we Compare scripture with scripture.

This is a question instead of a comment. I need some help. How do you tell what is hebrew poetry? For example I know that Genesis 1:27 is poetry because it was used in a example in a study I was doing. Other versions change the line breaks when a section is poetry. How do I tell in the kjv?

The Lord precisely tells us not to make graven images, to worship Him only. My friend, it sounds like you have not been introduced to the true Saviour Jesus Christ. It is not by works, confessing to man our sin or any other means that we are redeemed. Jesus Christ is the only Way. As certain as I type this small message, I am witness to the saving grace of Jesus Christ. Realize, He is a HOLY GOD and no flesh shall boast in His presence. Jesus Christ took on flesh in order to atone for the curse upon all humanity. There is no good in any human being, no matter our works, we can not be saved by anyone or anything but through belief that Jesus Christ poured out His life, set the captives free, (no such thing as purgatory), rose bodily from death (being the first fruits), preached among us, ascended to the Father and sent the Holy Ghost, whereby we are sealed unto that day. One has to realize their sin and one day they will face a Holy God. Will God see a person innocent without having true repentance of their sins and giving themselves completely to Christ? No, He will not. There is absolutely no reason we have to suffer eternal torment. Realize sin, truly repent,accept Jesus Christ.I pray 4U

My understanding

The questions I posted and the scripture after them were in my understanding were answering the questions, sorry if that did not make sense or if they do not answer them for you.

Was Jesus baptized with the Spirit during His water baptism or before? It was not before it was after Jesus was water baptized and come up from the water He was then anointed with the Holy Spirit.

Luke 4:1 Jesus was full of the Holy Spirit and the Spirit led, meaning to lead, bring, carry so the Spirit led or carried Jesus to the wilderness. It may be similar to when Philip was whisk away, Acts 8:39

John 3:34 "for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him" Measure means limited so Jesus was anointed with the Holy Spirit with no limits like what we see in 1 Cor. 12 the diversities of gifts no one received them all, with Jesus there was no limit to the power of the Holy Spirit.

Acts 2:32-33 My understanding is this part of Peter's explanation of what people were seeing. Jesus made the promise that when He went back to the Father He would ask the Father to send the Holy Ghost/Spirit to them, Luke 24:49 John 14:26 Acts 1:4-8. They were seeing God's answer to Jesus's request to send the Holy Ghost/Spirit. I hope that makes sense.

The Father could not send the Holy Ghost/Spirit until Jesus was glorified John 7:39 and that was after He was resurrected, Jesus did not need the Holy Ghost/Spirit after He received His glorified body. When the Holy Ghost/Spirit left Jesus and went back to God in heaven if it was at Jesus's death or when, I do not know.

I'm the same as you in that respect Ronald , I don't even know what most of the labels , that some Christians use , actually mean and I have no desire to . We are members of his body , brothers and sisters . I have no idea what label anyone would put on me and I don't put any on myself other than Christian . When someone puts a label on themselves and then they might look at me and smile , as if I should know what all their beliefs are by the label they put on themselves , I just smile and say nothing :) . To me , your a Christian or you're not , that's all I need to know .

Beyond our comprehension! Being frustrated because there exists no earthly language able to express the glory and praise which He deserves, I asked Him to show me how to worship Him. Submitting to Him in devotion and prayer, time held no worth, for to escape this world and revel in the presence of the Lover of my soul is beyond comprehension. The weight of His glory, the rest of our souls, our daily bread, His beauty visible only through communion with Him, but more than visible for this, His, great Love dwells in the very core of our being. So let me ask you, did the Apostle Paul commit any sin after He was "saved" on the Road to Damascus? Did his BODY die and was buried? Do True Believers die today and their bodies not be buried and decay?

More personally, do you believe that should Christ delay His return for another 100 years, will you still be alive in your current physical body?

Perhaps you could more clearly explain your understanding of the following:

Do you ever commit any sin of any kind?

What does it mean to be "BORN AGAIN"?

Where today is the Apostle Paul living and in what form?

Do you believe that God created all mankind with both a BODY and a SOUL? If not, what then?

1And Jesus went out, and departed from the temple: and his disciples came to him for to shew him the buildings of the temple. 2And Jesus said unto them, See ye not all these things? verily I say unto you, There shall not be left here one stone upon another, that shall not be thrown down. 3And as he sat upon the mount of Olives, the disciples came unto him privately, saying, Tell us, when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?

The question is are these verses talking about the destruction of the temple in Jerusalem in 70 AD by the Romans? And if not, what?

Note in verse 2 Jesus says, "...There shall not be left one stone upon another that shall not be thrown down." So if you go to Jerusalem today and look at the ruins of the Temple, what do you see? Or should I say, what do you not see? You do not see a situation where there is "...not one stone left upon another". So is Jesus, eternal God Himself, exaggerating here? Is He lying to us? Did the translators make a mistake?

Now note verse 3 as the disciples asked Jesus, "...when shall these things be? and what shall be the sign of thy coming, and of the end of the world?" And we see that Jesus did not correct the disciples saying that He was not talking about the situation as we approach the end of the world. Quite the contrary, as we read further Jesus began to provide information about what to expect as we approach the end of the world.

So what is the spiritual temple, the House of God, the corporate representation God's Kingdom on this earth; where we would expect to find the Word of God, the gospel, during most of the New Testament period? Is it not the local churches and congregations that have existed during that time?

I'm just going to leave it there for now. But I would ask us all to consider Matt 24, and in particular these first three verses, in the light of such passages as 1 Pet 4:17 and 2 Thessalonians 2.

My faith is in Jesus and He died and rose again being the Firstfruits of those who slept, and through Jesus's resurrection, I have the hope and promise of eternal life with Jesus. Death in scripture is sleep with no knowledge of time or anything. I do not believe in the immortal soul, so when I die I will sleep in the grave until I am resurrected into a new immortal, incorruptible body.

What is your understanding of resurrection and why do you say in the second resurrection?

I don't have a clear view on that, because a couple of scriptures seem to say a different thing.

The first is Luke 4:1, "And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness,", also John 3:34, "For he (Jesus) whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him.".

But then again in Acts 2:32-33, it says "This Jesus hath God raised up, whereof we all are witnesses. Therefore being by the right hand of God exalted, and having received (this in greek is in the present tense) of the Father the promise of the Holy Ghost, he hath shed forth this, which ye now see and hear."

The latter says that Jesus received the Spirit (the promise) after (or at) His resurrection and then started giving It to believers.

So does that mean that Jesus lost the Spirit while on the cross? But then again it says He received THE PROMISE of the Holly Ghost after His resurrection. So what was it that that He had before? Wasn't that the PROMISE? Maybe some other ministry of the Spirit? Maybe like the prophets of the Old Testament who had the Spirit ON them but not INSIDE them?

Or some other explanation exists? I Hope I haven't confused you. So what do you think?
