I just wanted to wish everyone a Happy Passover, as Christ became our Passover, remembering the last supper:

Mark 14:22 - And as they did eat, Jesus took bread, and blessed, and brake it, and gave to them, and said, Take, eat: this is my body.

    Matthew Chapter 26:27 - And he took the cup, and gave thanks, and gave it to them, saying, Drink ye all of it;

28 For this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins.

    Thank you Jesus

So, Chris, when the bible speaks of an event in two different books, that both happen in the end times, both called the harvest, both have angels reaping souls/people, both reaping two different times, this is not the same event? Because it's not worded exactly the same?

The Bible also gives a different wording on how to be saved. Sometimes it says by grace you are saved through faith. Sometimes it says, those who call upon the Lord will be saved, Sometimes it says to confess with your mouth and believe with your heart and you'll be saved. It's all the same thing, worded differently.

You're comment that the two events, in Matthew and Revelation, aren't the same events because they are worded differently....doesn't make sense to me. How many times in the bible is the rapture worded differently? Every single time. Matthew and Luke tell the story of Jesus' birth differently, since Luke doesn't mention the wise men, is Luke's account a different birth? Nope

I'm sorry to say, Chris, we'll have to agree to disagree on this one. God Bless

Hi Trinityrose12 , I have always thought that the reason they were told not to eat of the Passover lamb on the third day was for two reasons , one is that they didn't have any way of keeping it cool and safe to eat , the second is that Christ was ressurected on the third day . The three day rule with any kind of cooked meat is still observed by many for practical reasons , even with a refrigerator my grandma wouldn't eat three day old meat . She lived with not her 90's so maybe she was doing the right thing :) .

I have seen this connection made between Matthew 13:24-30 & Revelation 14:14-20 before, Tammy, but as you study those passages, you may notice some clear differences. To give them much detail here would take too long, so I'll highlight them, to show that these are not the same events.

Matthew 13:24-30 (with the parable's interpretation given in vv 36-43). The Sower is the Lord Who planted His Seed (which brought forth His children) in His field (the Church, His Body). But the enemy (Satan) also has his way & planted his seed (of unregenerate & evil hearts) amongst the good seed. If this was the world spoken of & not the Church, then identification between the good & evil would be easy. Of course, as they grew together, they appeared the same, until the tares showed their true color. Using Jesus' instruction in Matthew 18:15-17, those tares that could be easily seen amongst them can be exposed for who they are, but often they can't be seen until Christ's examination, judgement, & removal. The believers will be gathered by the reapers at the harvest unto Him & the imposters burned with fire. Given that this parable was spoken amongst the Jews, there could be application to those who were righteous under the Law ("children of the kingdom") & the unrighteous amongst them.

Revelation 14:14-20, the Reaper is the Lord (v16) and the angel who had the sickle did the gathering. What was reaped & what was gathered? "..the clusters of the vine of the earth; for her grapes are ripe". These are not the tares in Matthew, but are shown as being slashed off the vine, & that at their crushing, their juice (as blood) came out in volumes as a result of Christ's Judgement; maybe at that great final battle when the enemies of Christ are slaughtered ( Revelation 19:17-21).

The parable of the wheat & the tares is for "the end of this world" ( Matthew 13:40), not post-trib, nor pre-trib. So I don't read this parable as you do & in comparing it with Revelation 14.

One thing that has helped me so much in understanding a verse or passage is to identify it's place on the biblical time line. The bible is a historical account of God's plan from first to last. For example Acts 2:23 tells us Jesus was delivered by the determined counsel and foreknowledge of God to be delivered to wicked hands and crucified. In other words, it was done on purpose at the time decided by in advance by a heavenly council and God. Daniel was told the very day Jesus would ride into Jerusalem.

What I have done to help me avoid getting mixing up is to draw a simple time line with my pencil so I know what is going on at the place I am reading. My time line begins on the left with creation ( Gen 1:1) and ends on the right with the creation of the new heaven in Revelation. Abraham was called about 2000 BC, ( Gen 12) then Moses let the children of Jacob (Abraham's descendants) out of Egypt around 1400 BC and and after that the first book in the bible was written at at Mt. Sinai to whom? written by whom? why? ( 2 Tim 3:16). Was every group of people who learned of that verse act act the same way? Why or why not? Have fun.

    Trinity,

You can read in Matthew 26:27 the other disciples asked, :Lord, is it I? Same for Mark 14:19, Luke 22:23. John 13:21-27 gives the most information about the response of the other disciples. But the question of who it might be was quickly shown to be Judas (verse 27).

    Hello, Mary1979,

You can read my response to Tammy for another perspective on Lent. It is not taught in Scripture, but, like many things we do, such as read our Bible, it is not prohibited. In Jesus' time, the Old Testament was read in the synagogues as families did not have the Old Testament in a book in their homes. The letters (epistles) of the apostles were read at their weekly gatherings, but families did not have copies of them in their homes. But even so, it is a good thing to read and study the Bible. Sometimes we have prayer vigils as a church family or among a group of believers. This is not taught in Scripture, but it is a good thing to do.

There can be many things we do for our spiritual growth or to help others in their walk with God that are not taught in Scripture, but it is not wrong to do these things. Likewise, it is not wrong to observe Lent if one understands the purpose and benefit of doing so.

I think we should be careful to not be quick to judge what others do in their walk and worship just because we do not do the same things.

    Hello Tammy C.

Catholics are not the only sect that observes lent. Orthodox, Anglican, Episcopalian, Lutherans do. There may be others that I am not aware of.

Lent can be observed as a matter of practice or it can present the opportunity to fast and pray for some believers. I do not think this is a Phariseeical thing to do. God looks on the heart, so we should not sit in judgment of this practice by some of our brothers and sisters. Taking time to deliberately and reverently fast and pray for a period of time is not prohibited by Scripture. In fact, Jesus told His disciples that some evil spirits will not come out of a person except with fasting and prayer.

Lent is not the only time to fast and pray, but for some who have not done so before, it presents an opportunity to begin this Bible based spiritual discipline and then continue to use this discipline at other times as the Spirit leads a person to do so.

This being said, there is no Biblical mandate to observe Lent, but it is not prohibited either.

Mary1979, I grew up Catholic and we never did lent (we weren't very good Catholics) LOL But as a "Protestant" Christian, I've seen many brothers and sisters in Christ participate in lent, by not eating chocolate, or giving up soda, or not eating junk food. My thoughts on that, it reminds me of this verse: Matthew 23:25

"Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess."

I don't think abstaining from chocolate is going to bring anyone closer to God. Matthew 15:11

"Not that which goeth into the mouth defileth a man; but that which cometh out of the mouth, this defileth a man."

Just my thoughts. Great question, by the way. God bless!

You have some great questions Trinityrose12, I've wondered this one myself.
  • Duncan - In Reply - 1 year ago
First of all i would like to point out few things

If you don't repent your sins before God and believe in the lord Jesus Christ

you will not see nor enter the kingdom of God. JOHN 3:3.

Majority of churches today they have departed from the word of God, and they have either loved the world and the life of it while the Scriptures expresses, we are not of the world and Jesus the son of God has said my kingdom is not of the world.

In Doing so the churches have Turned from grace to legalism and from the word of God to Tradition of men. Some churches nowadays its even impossible to preach Jesus Christ and Him crucified at the cross.

I pray God to Open your mind for understanding Amen.

Instead of Teaching what is given to us in the scriptures, we as men have added and twisted the word of God, and in the process, we have gone form Obeying God to Be entertainers and men-pleaser.

and this is evident in the world and in the scriptures.

Remember the Jews, scribes and Pharisees who took the law of Moses and sub-divided it, is creating their own ways of worshiping God then from that point on it became words of men and Tradition which they followed to appoint That even when the Son of God was standing right next to them, they could not recognize Him.

Same as what we are experiencing in the generations that has pasted and this current one, Massive Tradition of men to appoint that our churches have become entertainment center wondering If Jesus will find Faith on Earth when he Cames back? Luke 18:8

    Matthew 15:1-3

1Then came to Jesus scribes and Pharisees, which were of Jerusalem, saying, 2Why do thy disciples transgress the tradition of the elders? for they wash not their hands when they eat bread. 3But he answered and said unto them, Why do ye also transgress the commandment of God by your tradition?

So there's no place in the bible that state we should oberserve any Lent commemorating the 40 days., Please read your bible, Pray without ceasing and Fast before the Lord

In reading all of the different collaborations regarding Jesus telling the disciples that one of them would betray him , why isn't there an account about how no one reacted when Judas dipped his bread in the wine with Jesus. Like did the disciples know then or did they not notice?

    Hi Jcolli9,

Thank you, this site is great, and the brothers and sisters that are on it.

The Hebrew calendar has been pretty much a 7-day calendar as the 7-day creation in Genesis. They just went by 1st day 2nd day and so on till the 7th day. The days of the week and their sequence have not changed by the calendar changes. The day Jesus was resurrected was on the Feast of First Fruits which is the first day after the Sabbath after Passover.

Passover is always on the 14th of Nisan regardless of the day of the week it falls on. It is one day, on this day all leaven had to be cleaned out of the houses and out of Jerusalem. The Lamb that was chosen on the 10th was to be sacrificed at even, that is any time after the sun started down and before the sunset.

So regardless of what day the Passover is on, the Feast of First Fruits will always be the 1st day/Sunday after. Easter is now not gone by Passover it goes the first Sunday after the full moon of the equinox that is why you will see Easter come before Passover three times in a 19-year cycle. Start in Exodus 12 and you will see Jesus fulfilled it all right down to the time of day.

From an old man, clear your mind of preconceived ideas before you pray and read/study. If we already have an answer in our mind, how can we hear the Holy Spirit, whether true or not, all the scripture we read will seem to line up with the answer we have in our head. "He who has ears to hear let him hear".

    God bless,

    RLW

    Hey Donna,

The old Darnel, wheat's evil twin, it as the world is intoxicating, and enough of it will kill. We eat the seeds and get dizzy or today a buzz, like the seeds of the world we want more and more, and death is the reward. Like the darnel the world messes with our vision as our reading and studying of the word, the answers from our mind fit better with the world than the answers from the Holy Spirit. They hide amongst the good and only can be identified at the time of harvest.

Good parable, that fits the world today.

    God bless,

    RLW

I think it's just to eliminate waste because they couldn't save the meat they didn't eat Exodus 12:10 "And ye shall let nothing of it remain until the morning; and that which remaineth of it until the morning ye shall burn with fire."

So if a household was just a man and his wife, roasting an entire lamb for one meal, is wasting a lot of meat. So, they could join with their neighbor and share a lamb. I hope that helps.
  • TammyC - In Reply - 1 year ago
Donna, you have a lot of good points there. I however believe God did make His word easy to understand, as long as you are coming to it as a child and not a Pharisee. Psalms 119:130 "The entrance of thy words giveth light; it giveth understanding unto the simple."

If there are things I don't understand in the bible, I set it aside and come back to it later, I pray for understanding.

I have two Strong's sitting on a shelf collecting dust. I can't rationalize taking an English word, going back to Hebrew or Greek, to get the English meaning. I personally believe the KJV transcribers did a good job.

Also, Jesus gives us a lot of information, when the apostles didn't understand what He was teaching, Jesus broke it down for them....and for us.

It actually melts my heart when I think of how God loved us so much, He gave us His Word, Jesus said that it would be published among all nations. So, everyone, from the farmer to the King of England could read His Word, and if they have eyes to see and ears to hear, they might also understand.

    God Bless

what does Exodus 12:4 mean if your household is too small what was the required amount needed ?
  • Jcolli9 - In Reply - 1 year ago
Hello RLW, thank you for answering my question. Do you think that the Calendar and days being changed has anything to do with this? I love this App. It's not that I am a lazy person and can't take time to read the bible. I just like getting people perspective on a subject and this leads me down a rabbit trail to find the answer and so much MORE. I am humbled every time I ask a question on here. And more than one person will give an answer and you can check the answers and compare them and then most of ALL PRAY about them and let the Holy-Spirit give you the final answer.

    Thanks AGAIN RLW

It does ChildoftheKing. I'm beginning to learn, it's not about whether someone is pre, mid or post, but that they know the Word of God period. I think if a person knows God's Word, they will be prepared for whatever takes place. God Bless!

Thank you ChildoftheKing, that is kind of what we've been led to do, both celebrating resurrection day and a Christian passover. Your comment makes a lot of sense. God Bless

No you have to repent of your sins to be born again. John3:3 1Peter1:23 Romans6:6 Baptism is important but if you don't you want miss heaven. The thief on the cross did not have time to be baptized. Luke 24:42-47 All christians should be baptized and want to follow every example Jesus left us.

We live on earth we are in this world but not of this world. meaning the ways of the world. To be a friend of this world is to be an enemy to God. All that is in the world is the lust of the flesh, the lust if the eye and pride of life. When you're born again you have a different spirit. You are not the same you have the spirit of God in you. look up theses scriptures. James 4:4 1 John 2:15 Romans12:2

Galatians 3:28 There is neither Jew nor Greek, neither slave or free, nor is there male or female we are all ONE in Jesus Christ. We don't have to follow the "Jews" tradition or the "Gentiles". Follow the spirit and the Word. (The New Testament Church) Gentiles were engrafted in and it was no longer just the Jews. That's why it was at Antioch they were called Christians for the first time. Paul taught in Galatians we don't have to follow the Jewish tradition. "The New Testament Church" had people from different backgrounds being born again. The Holy Spirit will guide us into all truth and righteousness. Churches are full of tradition. Jesus didn't have tradition "man made convictions/tradition" such as don't cut your hair. Woman shouldn't ware Jeans. You have to celebrate this or that. Jesus preached the Word. Easter is a pagan holiday(come from Babylon) the world celebrates many people have not been raised in church and don't know any better. Most Christians celebrate Resurrection Day and the Passover because we remember our Lord and Savior and all he did at Calvary. (Is chapter53)

Moses was inspired by the Holy Spirit to write the Torah 5 Books of Moses. He received this on the mountain EX33:23 He saw the hinder parts of God. All the way to Genesis.
