8 Now I say that Jesus Christ was a minister of the circumcision for the truth of God, to confirm the promises made unto the fathers: (see Matthew 15:24)

16 That I should be the minister of Jesus Christ to the Gentiles, ministering the gospel of God, that the offering up of the Gentiles might be acceptable, being sanctified by the Holy Ghost.

These two verses distinguished that Christ came to the lost Jews and that Apostle Paul is chosen by Jesus Christ to be our (i.e. Gentiles') Apostle. Do any of the readers see the big differences here? I have noticed that most comments everywhere forgot to divide the word of truth ( 2 Timothy 2:15). Do you believe in the dispensation?
  • David on James 1 - 3 years ago
Salvation is only received through believing and trusting in the death, burial, and resurrection of the Lord Jesus Christ, it is the Gospel of Jesus Christ that saves. The law will only drive the lost soul unto the Gospel and Salvation. Galatians 3: 11, 12, 21-26. Romans 10: 9, 10

Praise the Lord for His redemption through His blood on the cross that gives Salvation unto all those who believe and trust in Him.

May we all pray diligently for our leaders to believe and have the mind of Christ. 2 Timothy 2:1-4

God bless all on this forum with the wisdom of the Lord. May His comforting hand be on all.

That's a good question Wayne, as some might understand it as, David not having enough faith that only one stone would kill Goliath, therefore he needed extras.

When I read the whole passage in 1 Samuel chapter 17, I try to understand it according to what was normal practise using the skills developed for accurate use of the sling. David probably hunted quite often using such a method (or, to protect his flock) & would be normal for him to have more projectiles in his bag. He probably looked at this 'beast' confronting the army of Israel & cursing the God of Israel, with the same view. In fact, in verses 49 to 51, we read that in spite of David's accuracy in reaching his target, that single stone didn't kill Goliath, but certainly would have given him a severe head/brain trauma that dropped him to the ground. And since this was a duel to the death, & Goliath had not died, David proceeded to remove Goliath's sword & then use it to kill him & to decapitate him. Generally, we understand that it was the stone killed Goliath (v50), but verse 51 seems to suggest that Goliath met his death by his own sword in David's hand. Either could be correct, but only one stone was needed to fell the enemy.

If not, how about those who are not baptized who die by disaster without who believe, but never got baptized??

If I understand you correctly your son and daughter are both living gay lifestyles. I will keep them in prayer. I did want to state that a pastor of mine; now in his 90s named Ken Smith spent 2 years counseling Rosanna Butterfield who used to be a lesbian professer in Syracuse. She came out of that due to the pastor and his wife patiently showing agape love; and wrote a book called confessions of an unlikely convert or something to that effect. She was interviewed by another rather famous ex-gay named Becket Cook found on you tube. Not only this; but I have a friend who used to live that way but since the 1990s has been born again as well. So it is not hopeless; there are many testimonies on You Tube as well from individuals that used to have these lifestyles. Along with many who used to be involved with New Age that have been transformed.

On top of all this; I have a friend whose daughter also was in that kind of relationship but broke it off; and he has seen his mother and another daughter come to Christ recently; after much weeping and prayer. I would venture to say that if the Rapture is near; many will come to faith in the Tribulation as well. That shock treatment may be where the vast majority of converts will come from from this millennial generation; unless He tarries much longer than seems plausible at this point.

I can think of others too that I know who are living this way; including a former pastor's sister. She survived a near death accident but apparently still is living this way; along with other issues. I also knew a high school student in the 1990s who used to be a talented honor student and musician in church and decided to succumb to those desires by her college years. That saddened me greatly.

Anyway; if you are physically able; I hope you will seek fellowship. All those outside Christ will suffer the same fate if unregenerate. All those who are His sheep will hear His voice; eventually.

    About the ten commandments...

    Exodus chapter 20 : 2-17

1.I am the LORD thy God, which have brought thee out of the land of Egypt, out of the house of bondage.Thou shalt have no other gods before me.

2.Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth: Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.

3.Thou shalt not take the name of the LORD thy God in vain; for the LORD will not hold him guiltless that taketh his name in

    vain.

4.Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days shalt thou labour, and do But the seventh day is the sabbath of the LORD thy God: in it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that is within thy gates: For in six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them is, and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

5.Honour thy father and thy mother: that thy days may be long upon the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.

    6.Thou shalt not kill.

    7.Thou shalt not commit adultery.

    8.Thou shalt not steal.

9.Thou shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour.

10.Thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's house, thou shalt not covet thy neighbour's wife, nor his manservant, nor his maidservant, nor his ox, nor his ass, nor any thing that is thy neighbour's.

  • Texsis - In Reply on Psalms 80 - 3 years ago
Yes, praise the Lord! Good works alone will not get us to heaven yet we are to live accordingly once we are saved. Love and pray for everyone daily. Help ppl out if they need it not merely sitting around thinking "I'm saved so I don't need to do anything else". Learn the truth of the commandments and don't break any purposely. Not that we live by them anymore, once Jesus died for our sins, yet If we do keep breaking them, knowingly, we were never truly saved and satan will eventually take over and we will start to change and may, God forbid, eventually deny Christ. That is the ONLY unforgivable sin..to deny Christ.! So DO NOT get the mark of the beast either!! Only God knows His purpose for us, our mind and hearts as well. therefore it is a sin to make others business ours. God will judge us in the end for how we live our new life in Christ so please don't misinterpret "once saved always saved". NO more than standing in a garage makes you a car. Yes He will not leave us nor forsake us though continuing to do ungodly things you're choosing to forsake Him. If you truly have Christ in our heart you will want to do these thing. Sorry, I tend to ramble, pray that helps. God bless Texsis

Suze, I pray that your step-dad does make it to his 75th birthday party. I know so well what lapsed Catholics are like. And with alcoholism on top of that, whew! I pray that each of them will repent and call on Jesus to save them soon. I pray that they will be delivered from alcoholism soon.. I pray that you will be strengthened in your daily care for them. I pray that when it is their times to go, it will be peaceful and not filled with suffering. I remember you said that you don't expect them to live very much longer. This is their time of greatest need and vulnerability. I am thankful you have made peace with your past with your mom and dad and that you can now serve her and her husband in these last months. Blessings to you today and always.

    Steve,

The bible teaches exactly what GiGi outlined.

There are a few on this site regularly projecting dispensational views, and much worse. Your beliefs seem to fall under the extreme doctrine of the Ultra-dispensationalists, as you certainly project negative views of long established Church doctrine, including claiming that Pauls gospel replaces the gospel of Jesus Christ.

So others may understand better, the following is a small excerpt from an article directed at the extreme ultra dispensational views similar to yours from "Got Questions answers to Biblical Questions".

The greatest problem with ultra-dispensationalism is not its teaching about when the church began but the many other errors that come from its approach to Scripture. For example, at the heart of most forms of ultra-dispensationalism is the belief that Paul preached a different gospel from what the other apostles taught. Other false doctrines common in some forms of ultra-dispensationalism include soul sleep and annihilationism. Still others proclaim a brand of universalism that grants salvation even to Satan himself. Without a doubt, whatever name ultra-dispensationalism goes by, it is a dangerous error that almost always leads to other, even worse errors.

    H. A. Ironside, a strong dispensationalist himself, wrote a good booklet outlining some of the dangers of ultra-dispensationalism. In it he says that he has "no hesitancy in saying that [ultra-dispensationalism's] fruits are evil. It has produced a tremendous crop of heresies throughout the length and breadth of this and other lands; it has divided Christians and wrecked churches and assemblies without number; it has absolutely throttled Gospel effort at home and sown discord on missionary fields abroad. So true are these things of this system that I have no hesitancy in saying it is an absolutely Satanic perversion of the truth" (Wrongly Dividing the Word of Truth, chapter 1, Loizeaux Brothers, 1938).

I know a lot of C.I.N.O.'s (Christians-in-name-only) who warm a pew on Sunday and then go out and sin the rest of the week.

I have a friend who is a big fan of that show Supernatural. It's as demonic as a show can get.

I have another friend who is into those "boy-love" novels and videos.

I have another friend who goes bar-hopping. They all believe in Jesus. They're sure they're "saved". This is the problem with a lot of "Born-Again" Christians. They misunderstand that we don't get to have it both ways.

Would Jesus wink at this wickedness and say, "Aw, go on. Have fun. I'll still forgive you. Just make sure to repent when you've had your fill." I don't think so.

They see nothing wrong with filling their minds with unwholesome nonsense. They really need to do some soul-searching and pray and ask God for forgiveness and turn away from those things.

    Matthew 5:29

"And if thy right eye offend thee, pluck it out, and cast it from thee: for it is profitable for thee that one of thy members should perish, and not that thy whole body should be cast into hell."

What Jesus meant (and correct me if I'm wrong) is that sometimes we will have to turn away from, cast off, throw away certain things (material things, ideas, relationships) and it will be as painful as plucking out your eye.

Speaking for myself, I smoked for 40+ years. I liked to smoke but I knew it wasn't pleasing to God so wanted to give it up.

I prayed, begged, apologized and asked for a Divine Intervention to quit.

    God answered that prayer.

I went through no withdrawal, had no more cravings and suffered no ill effects. If I had to quit by my own strength, I would have never made it.

I look at what's going on in this world and cringe when I see/understand how badly we have all been deceived. Things we thought were normal or harmless fun were not edifying at all.

In answering this question; it appears the full Preterists here will have an eschatological argument. So I will try to give you a few things to think about.

Firstly; we need to rightly divide scripture. When we look at the wicked being burned up as chaff; we first have to decide if there is merely a physical destruction (such as appears with Armageddon when the wicked are killed but not resurrected for 1000 years); or in other battles in the past.

Going beyond the death of humans; we can appeal to verses which state that the earth; sun and moon are eternal. Psalm 78:69 seems to indicate this. Therefore; in Revelation there is stated to be no need for the light of the sun and moon but nothing stating that they aren't still there. We also see that the light of the sun and moon are to increase sevenfold ( Isaiah 30:26) which certainly appears to me to be a Millennial promise; if it is for eternity the same point exists.

The verses about the sun and moon going dark go from 1/3 of day being dark in the Trumpet judgments to the darkness in the vial judgments. Neither is the final extinction though (and the stars falling refer to the fallen angels and or meteorites/satellites.) No doubt the burning heat in the vial judgments is related to all these manifestations as well.

At any rate; the elements in Peter are what would define atomic structure as it appears in Greek. The earth and heavens which are now not clean in His sight ( Isaiah 24:23) will have to be restored and made perfect as well as all creation including His saints will be remade as well into glorified bodies. Clearly; our spiritual state is the only thing that matters as to how we spend eternity. Let us not lose this perspective. I would ask that you search scripture as a Berean on these matters and help fulfill the Great Commission commanded for His church to preach in whatever way you can; warning others to flee the wrath to come.

2Th 2:8. Then shall that Wicked be revealed - When the obstacle, mentioned in the preceding verse, should be removed, then shall that wicked, etc. Nothing can be plainer than that the lawless, (), as the Greek signifies, the wicked one, here mentioned, and the man of sin, must be one and the same person. The apostle was speaking before of what hindered that he should be revealed, and would continue to hinder it till it was taken away; and then the wicked one, etc. Not that he should be consumed immediately after he was revealed. But the apostle, to comfort the Thessalonians, no sooner mentions his revelation than he foretells also his destruction, even before he describes his other qualifications. His other qualifications should have been described first, in order of time; but the apostle hastens to what was first and warmest in his thoughts and wishes: Whom the Lord shall consume, etc. If these two clauses refer to two distinct and different events, the meaning manifestly is, that the Lord Jesus shall gradually consume him with the free preaching and publication of his word; and shall utterly destroy him at his second coming, in the glory of his Father, with all the holy angels. If these two clauses relate to one and the same event, it is a pleonasm very usual in the sacred, as well as other oriental writings; and the purport plainly is, that the Lord Jesus shall destroy him with the greatest facility, when he shall be revealed from heaven, as the apostle has expressed it in the preceding chapter.
  • Postmyers567 on 2 Thessalonians 2:11 - 3 years ago
    2 Thess 2:7

For the mystery of iniquity doth already work - There is a system of corrupt doctrine, which will lead to the general apostasy, already in existence, but it is a mystery; it is as yet hidden; it dare not show itself, because of that which hindereth or withholdeth. But when that which now restraineth shall be taken out of the way, then shall that wicked one be revealed-it will then be manifest who he is, and what he is.

2Th 2:5, 2Th 2:6, 2Th 2:7. Remember ye not, etc. - The apostle thought it part of his duty, as he made it a part of his preaching and doctrine, to forewarn his new converts of the grand apostasy that would infect the Church, even while he was at Thessalonica. From these verses it appears that the man of sin was not then revealed; his time was not yet come, or the season of his manifestation. The mystery of iniquity was indeed already working; the seeds of corruption were sown, but they were not grown up to maturity; the man of sin was yet hardly conceived in the womb; it must be some time before he could be brought forth; there was some obstacle that hindered his appearing. What this was we cannot determine with absolute certainty at so great a distance of time; but if we may rely upon the concurrent testimony of the fathers, it was the Roman empire. Most probably it was somewhat relating to the higher powers, because the apostle observes such caution; he mentioned it in discourse, but would not commit it to writing.

    2 Thess 2:6

And now ye know what withholdeth - I told you this among other things; I informed you what it was that prevented this man of sin, this son of perdition, from revealing himself fully.

The Antichrist (Satan) is on the earth, working in secret not making himself known, till he has hold of everyone's hearts and minds through false theology (Dispensationalism, Israel futurism) and corrupt worldviews..

You have hit the nail on the head my brother , we cannot forget , this is the power of forgiveness , this is its strength , the fact that we can remember exactly how we got all these wounds and scars and yet , we have forgiven . My dad was vile to my mom and I , after we escaped from him when I was seven , my mom seriously neglected me and psychologically tortured me . I was in my late twenties before I finally realised that none of this was my fault . I now know that both my mom and dad had very serious mental health problems , this has helped me to forgive them both . That doesn't mean that I trust my mom , my dad is dead . I know what my mom is capable of but through Christ I am now very strong , no matter what she does or says she can't hurt me any more , she's my biological mother but Christ is really my mother , God is my Father and it's because of their love and mercy towards me that I can now help my mom , physically and emotionally , at the end of her life , now she's just a vulnerable old lady who needs my help . Truly God and Jesus have strengthened me to enable to put the past behind me and be the best daughter I can be to her . It sounds easy to say this but you must stop thinking about past sufferings , come to terms with the emotions that these memories cause you to feel , once you get a hold of your emotions , which means allow yourself to feel them , you can put the memories to bed . Talk to God and really tell him how you feel , I know He already knows but it's very liberating to pour your heart out to Him , be honest , with yourself and with Him , only by acknowledging your true emotions can you hope to put the past behind you and focus on your future . Talk to God , He knows how you feel and what you've been through , He's waiting for you to talk to Him , He's waiting to heal you . You have nothing to fear from Him or any human , with His help you can let all this pain and anger go . Trust Him , talk to Him . Much love in Christ .

I agree friends. It does require a deeper understanding but that comes with time and effort, that is the beauty of it. (Chase God) It is literature, poetry, and with Holy Ghost guidance can be unlocked in all of our minds. If one cannot understand a passage, sometimes later in the chapter context will come to open the scriptures. Or the next time reading through you can glean more from the living Word of God! Finally, We were not meant to change the Bible but rather the Bible is meant to change us!

    Many blessings!

Addendum: It is true that according to Revelation; cowards will take their place in the lake of fire. We are also promised that when at trial the Holy Spirit will give us the words to speak ( Luke 12:12). We are as was said to the Corinthians the "Temple of the Spirit" ( 1 Cor. 6:19) if saved; and also He who has begun a good work in us will complete it ( Philippians 1:6).

It seems too obvious; I suppose to ask on a forum like this if you have faith in Christ and His atoning death and have confessed it to God and to men. This is the only way to truly receive and understand "agape" or unconditional love at the deepest level. I suppose the best example of an idolatrous culture is the Corinthians. There were clear moral lapses; to put it mildly there at all levels from illicit relationships; greed; pride and other vices. Paul was able to get them straightened out fairly quickly through rebuke from such a Godly concern as a parent.

I narrowly escaped being molested by a high school friend of mine. That was 40 years ago; and I found out recently that he passed away of bone cancer a number of years ago. I was also mentally abused as a child; and physically assaulted a couple of times; as well as had a lot of money and possessions stolen. Also went through a divorce with someone who claimed to be a Christian and married her lover. I was able at least to tell my dad that I loved him; and now am taking care of my parents in their advanced years while living at home.

I mention all this to say that I found through Christian counselling; prayer was perhaps the best antidote. Also; after a lot of angst during my marriage; I was given a study in the Book of James on how to be self controlled through proper spiritual disciplines; and although my life is far from perfect; the anger which would have me punch fists into walls hasn't caused me to flip out in say 10 years since I have been living on my own. The Lord has been faithful in providing me with solid fellowship; both in the past and now.

In terms of thoughts we have to realize that if we are saved; the enemy often infiltrates our minds; and we need to be able to shut him down; realizing that they often don't originate with us. He has promised to be our "front guard and rear guard" ( Isaiah 52:12; also see Psalm 91. Perfect love casts out fear ( 1 John 4:18).

Bro. Dan nice to hear from you GBU...But not all baptism is water baptism...John himself said I baptise you with water but there is one standing among you that you know not that shall baptise you with the H.G. and fire.... John 1 : 26...kjv ...So not all baptism is water baptism....And also in Matthew 19 : 28kjv...Jesus said go ye into all the world baptising them in the name of the Father, Son and H.G..The HOLY GHOST....Which is H.G. BAPTISM

.....And in Acts 11:35 Peter said Then remembered I the Words of our lord..John baptised you with water but i will baptise you with the H.G. and fire ...So Bro. Dan lots of these baptisms are H.G. baptism not water baptism....Ya gotta keep in mind that the CROSS was a new covenant in his blood....Much more precious then water baptism...

......John the bap...who gave us water baptism was preaching Behold the lamb of God that taketh away the sins of the world...Not water baptism...Jesus had no sin whatsoever but to fulfill the law he had to be water baptised...Thats y the Dove descended on Jesus....According to the law of Moses 2 turtle doves had to be washed by running water....And 1 of the turtles doves had to be killed and his blood sprinkled on the living bird which is the Church....Tis was the law of moses for Sin or leprosy...Turtles doves are lovers for life which is symbolic of Christ and the Church....Husbands love you wives as Christ loved the Church and gave his life for it...ok lemme go
