Re. 2Jn. 1:10 = Contextually, the verb "receive" includes

+ agreeing with, and accepting the evil heresies and destructive purposes of the deceivers and antichrists;

+ welcoming them into your home;

+ showing hospitality to them by providing room and board in your home;

+ providing your home as their base of operations;

+ refreshing them in their travels.

+ providing them the rest and resources needed to continue their evil mission.

Contextually, the only aid and compassion believing Christians should show these evil heretics is witnessing to them the true "Doctrine of CHRIST" (v.9).

The verb "speed" translates from the Greek verb root (pronounced "KHAH-ee-ro"). "Chairo" always means active and exceeding joyfulness, rejoicing, and happiness. Apostle Paul used the same verb in his second epistle to the Corinthians ( 2Cor. 13:11): "Finally, brethren, farewell {Greek verb "chairo"}."

To "bib" these religious heretics "GOD speed" literally means "say to him" with well wishes.

Wishing "GOD speed" means the one voicing the wish desires heretics to achieve the highest possible results from their evil message and intentions. Their evil intentions pervert the "Doctrine of CHRIST" (v.9) resulting in the eternal destruction of the unfortunate gullible souls that swallow their deceptive delusions.

Where to find Bible verses about the seven deadly sins. a commentary would be nice.

Why is it that people claim that until a baby breathes air it is not a living person? The verses that state God made us and that they are a gift from God are ignored because of Genesis 2:7.

Beloved, suddenly its gloomy and difficult gospel of Jesus Christ us a reallity. He who died for of us all on the path of the cross. With His Blood once on the calvary. For all who accepted Him, He gave them the right to become children of God.

When the man goes beyond being a child, life begins to be sanctified. It's a whole new road.

I am just curious and confused about the spirit world. Is there a spirit world? Do we all go there immediately after death? What is the spirit world like? Etc. Etc. Etc.?

Dear Susan, the greek text also says "two or three", and it means "two or more". Jesus said that if some believers (nomatter how many) gather in His name then He Himself is there among them. Maybe in Hebrew that Jesus was talking the expression is "two or three" and not "two or more". Different languages often use different expressions for the same meaning.

About the "Living Word" now, it is called living because it is alive in the sence that is works/acts in people's heart, it makes them repent and ask for God's forgiveness, it makes them want to change, it affects people and their lives and gives people the way to aquire eternal life. It is not just a theory, but it is a reality.

I read your post and it seems to be right but as I wrote to Doug I think I need some time to study this topic before making some final conclusions in my mind. I would also like to search and see what other denominations as well as other churches (born again and not) teach about that.

Let's read 1 John 1:8-10

"If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.

If we confess our sins, he is faithful and just to forgive us our sins, and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.

If we say that we have not sinned, we make him a liar, and his word is not in us"

The above says that we commit sins but we are given Jesus' Blood for forgiveness. So what does it mean "dead to sin" and "body of sin destroyed". Howcome the body is dead/ destroyed for sin and still sin? Since scripture cannot conrtadict scripture, I think it means that we (our bodies) are not living a sinful life (staying in sin), that is why it says " live any longer therein". There is a huge difference between one living in sin and one living a pure life but occasionally commit sins, so is given Jesus'Blood to be forgiven and his sin been erased. Hence his life remains pure

Lets see another Scriptute that is often misinterpreted because of a problematic translation.

1 John 3:9 "Whosoever is born of God doth not commit sin; for his seed remaineth in him: and he cannot sin, because he is born of God"

If one takes it as it is written in English, he will conclude that believers cannot sin anymore after born again. But here John seems to say the opposite from what he said previously in 1:8-10. Why is this? Because the translation is not right. The greek for what is translated as "commit sin" actually says "committing sin", a continuous present tense ie a continuous situation. In simple words it says that believers cannot live a sinful life since the Word of God (seed) is in them.

Now let's go to our original argument. Has our nature changed when we were born again? My opinion is no. Simply through new birth and baptism in the HS we are dressed with God's grace to help us with our fight against sin.

But to be honest with you I still have some questions in my mind about this.. so we may talk about it later on

My research of the KJV ws that the Apocrypha was included in the KJV up until I believe the 1700's, at which time the Aprocrypha was removed. Perhaps because the publishers did not want these books to be included any longer for theological reasons o or perhaps to be able to print a Bible that had considerably less pages to print, thus saving costs.

"Once saved always saved" just like the english word "rapture" are not mentioned in scripture per se. There are verses about being sealed with the Spirit until the day of redemption ( Eph. 1:13-14). Actually the verse states our inheritance in KJV v. 14.

John 6:39 indicates that Christ will lose none that the Father has given Him. As to the rapture/Resurrection from the dead; we of course can read in Thessalonians and Corinthians on the event. The latin word comes from "rapturo" which means to snatch out; quickly remove.

A fundamental misunderstanding comes when the doctrine of Predestination is ignored in scripture; and God's initiation of salvation based on those of His choosing. Romans 8:30 makes this pretty clear and many other verses; particulary the Gospel of John are helpful (read John 10). Our repentance and sanctification as well as good works are all things the Lord has prepared in His Providence (see Ephesians 2:10). On our end; we are responsible to make a public confession; repent and live a Godly life; but if we attempt to do so without being regenerated we are trying to be saved on our terms. In the flesh; we can do as Judas Iscariot did; who was BTW called and chosen; but predestined to be the "son of perdition" as prophesied in Psalm 41:9. What is known as "decisional regeneration" by those who truly become Born Again must change our avoidance of consequences of our actions to that of a new regenerated heart which loves God. The Lord chastises all He loves ( Heb. 12:6).

These verses sort of fit together. It appears many are left behind to endure the Tribulation who were either tares or perhaps who thought they were saved. If they are to be saved; they will endure martyrdom and finally produce fruit to "make their garments white". Whether that includes backslidden believes now; I can't give a certain answer. We should all keep Luke 21:36 in mind as certainly all believers aren't in that mindset today. Agape; Rich P

Curious what you interpretation of being dead to sin is? Romans 6:1,2 What shall we say then? Shall we continue in sin, that grace may abound? How shall we, that are dead to sin, live any longer therein? Romans 6:6 Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin. God Bless you for considering these verses.

My favorite story about an army is about Gideon. God gave him a higher calling. He was hiding in the house behind a wall?

Finally Gideon comes out. God tells him the deal. Gideon is kind of shocked. He asks God to throw out a fleece, twice, because he's not sure God is serious.

It's kind of funny. He gives this huge army to Gideon to lead. He takes them to a river and they all start drinking, they're thirsty. God starts whittling down the army by how they drink the water. Gideon is getting nervous because his army is dwindling.

Finally God shows him the men who get face down and lap the water like a dog would. Their weapons were in their hand, faces up looking for the enemy;

and God says these are your guys! They're ready for anything.

They went out on the battlefield and slay their enemies! It was a great victory. Always ask God to go with you into the battle. Pray. Ask God to anoint you for battle. And ask him for angels to assist the soldiers throughout the battle.

I've had times when I asked for angels to help and I know they did!! I almost had my neck broken; another time I gave someone a ride home from church. He pulled a 10 inch knife out of his jacket and hissed like a snake all the way to his house.

We have to ask God and not just assume or expect Him to anticipate the danger or the needs. We don't command the angels. They serve God. He sends them.

More than that, we need to go into battle covered head to toe, with the Blood of Jesus, as Christians. Non-believers do not have that. My army friend that did 4 tours in Afghanistan, would preach to his men and have altar calls. If he lost a guy, at least he knew he led that young soldier to Christ.

Judges 6 (verse 12)

What's happening in the USA is on the level with a lot of prophesy. Half of the USA is in serious drought. 5 states out west are trying to figure out how to divide water up amongst them. They need water for electric.

What few have thought of; no rain, no water, NO CROPS! The food shortages will go on until this nation cries out to God every day for rain. The book of JOB says that God owns the storehouses of rain, snow and hail. Let's look that up, ok? I pray every day for rain, for cows, pigs, chickens, turkeys, everything we eat. I hope a lot more people will join in, asking for rain to fall upon us.

We need to pray and fast; make it a habit.

Fast from food, tv, social media, video games, the usual stuff. I don't watch tv at all. I watch videos on youtube to stay on top of disasters, thought leaders meetings, UN statements, right now many places in China are underwater. Africa has drought & most peoples livestock has died. South Americans are coming to USA because they've endured a year of flooding. No homes no jobs, it's all washed away.

If we care about this nation, no offense intended, we need to unite in one party color to get our VOICE as a nation, back.We don't have to be going through this. We have resources. I have 3 words: Reregister your party at the post office. The times of us against them, is over. They don't listen to us anyway.

John 3 tells us how to be born again. Jesus baptizes us with the Holy Spirit. He comes to live within your heart. He teaches you about Jesus as your Savior and Lord. He also opens the hard sayings of Jesus so you can understand them. He convicts your heart when you sin. Sin hurts until we repent and confess.

It will blow us away if we Google, the Holy Spirits Names. Knowing this as a believer helps us to call upon the Holy Spirit for help. He is our Helper. We learn how to Love Jesus more every day of our lives.

Apparently so, DWL. Raguel is another spelling of 'Reuel' (as in Exodus 2:18). Hobab was Moses' brother-in-law.

Nathan the prophet visited David, and told a story of a man that stole a lamb (like s pet) that a rich man killed.

David replied, that man should die. Nathan said, Thou art the man!

It was about David taking Bathsheba to wed and having her husband killed. At this time she was pregnant with their first child.

Nathan told David he was forgiven but the child would die.

Psalm 51 is about this incident.

Upon being born again, Jesus gives the Holy Spirit to teach us scripture, comfort us, convict us of sin, enable us to be witnesses. Stay in the New Testament at first.

It is a deuterocanonical work in that it is accepted in the ROMAN canon,

BUT NOT by Jews, Protestants or Christianity. The King James Bible was canonized just as it is now.

The story you are looking for is in chapter one of the APOCRYPHA.

It tells of the Jewish hero Daniel, who refuses to worship the god Bel and kills the dragon, thus being forced into a den of lions, which he is allowed to leave after seven days because he is unharmed.

The Apocrypha is not canonized into the King James Bible.

You may understand better if you Google the history of the KJV Bible; and the separation of the Apocryphal Books.

They were Hebrews, so they'd be Jewish.

Hi Robert. This passage in Leviticus, particularly verses 27 & 28, was a warning to Israel not to mimic the activities relating to the dead. Those of the heathen often cut or whipped themselves expressing sorrow for their departed ones; the Muslims (the Shia sect) even today, whip themselves with barbed rope or cut themselves with knives, as they visually demonstrate sorrow for the death of Mohammed's grandson in battle - this they do in a special parade of commemoration. Likewise, the heathen marked themselves, both with paint & knife cuttings/blood letting, as part of their idol worship or expression of sorrow.

But Israel was not to do such things or disfigure the body, which was made in God's Image. Rather they were commanded to bear the emblem of God's Creed, the Mosaic Law, having phylacteries which were to be bound as "a sign" upon the hand, and as "a memorial" between the eyes "that the Lord's Law may be in his mouth" ( Exodus 13:9,16).

If we bring all that to today's times, any cutting, painting, tatooing, or disfigurement of the body stands in violation to what God has made & given to us. For the unbeliever, it may just be a fad or harmless decoration - to the believer, we should not get caught up with modern trends, rather continue to present ourselves, inwardly & outwardly, as holy vessels fit for the Lord's use & a testimony of His Creative Work & our submission to His requirement for holy living.
