  • Praying to the Lord of the Harvest - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
[Your prayer should touch upon all these points below.]

So Jesus tells his disciples: "Pray the Lord of the harvest to send out workers into his harvest."

Notice this: his first solution to this problem of an urgent, abundant harvest is not "go into the field and get to work"; it's "ask the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers."

Jesus isn't implying that his disciples won't be sent-that God is going to send someone else, so all they have to do is stay comfortable at home and remember to pray. On the contrary. The very next passage will have Jesus sending his disciples out.

But there is an ORDER to things, and a necessary equipping.

The harvest, after all, belongs to God. So it's God who must take the initiative and commission workers, thereby giving them the right to work in his fields in the first place. They need AUTHORITY for this work.

They also need to be EQUIPPED To bring in a physical harvest requires tools: (scythes, threshers, barns) To bring in a spiritual harvest requires tools also, Bible, Chick Tracts. We cannot do this kind of prayer on our own.

So Jesus commands us to pray the Lord of the harvest to do something. There is a general principle here: as someone wiser than me has quipped, "Don't just do something, stand there." And while you stand there-pray.

PRAYER is how we partner with God. It's how we bring heaven to earth. It's how we access his will and his power to get it done.

Prayer should always be our first response when we see a need-not because we aren't willing to roll up our sleeves and help, but because we recognize that we need authority and gifting from God in order to do it.

THANK YOU for your willingness. Streetpreacher

Your doubts are correct, Sandy. What your son was reading, referenced to a spurious writing in the post New Testament times (between the 3rd & 5th centuries AD), called the 'Testament of Solomon'. Clearly, Solomon didn't write any of it and the Book is a mishmash of ideas from various religions with strong links to astrology. Both Jewish & Christian scholars rejected these writings, considering them as fictional.

Good read Reg. There can be some translations that appear confusing, given the same (Hebrew) word being used in different instances. As in Leviticus 11:18 & Deuteronomy 14:16, where 'swan' is the given translation (amongst the 'fowls'). Then in Leviticus 11:30, 'mole' is given using the same Hebrew word for this animal (amongst the 'creeping things').

Your theory about the protection of the swan, for royalty sake, is a possibility, yet it remains how could the same Hebrew word be used for two different types of animals. I'm sure the translators would have spent much time struggling with what to do/how to translate in such circumstances. Maybe if there was uncertainty at the original manuscript level, then it remains open as to how one chooses to translate the same word for an animal which flies and another that can only creep.

Even a look at Chabad dot org, applying these same Scriptures there, I find different animals used for the three verses (magpie, bat, mole). That being the case & the Jew who is strictly subject to the ruling & finding no problem, I think we should not stress over this one and leave it as an uncertainty. Thanks for your research.

    Hi Edward.

    You've been given great answers.

I also believe the oil represents anointing. 1 John 2:27. But the anointing which ye have received of him abideth in you, and ye need not that any man teach you: but as the same anointing teacheth you of all things, and is truth, and is no lie, and even as it hath taught you, ye shall abide in him.

We are ready because the Holyspirit seals us. Ephesians 1:13. 2 Corinthians 1:21-22.

In Revelation 1:12-13. the candlesticks mentioned here are oil burning lamp stands. A believer is to be a light to the world and that light should always shine on the one in the midst of the lamp stand. Our lord. Matthew 5:14-16.

    Also used symbolically here.

    Leviticus 24:2-4.

    God bless.

    Amen Giannis.

I believe atleast those passages gives us a principle. As Brother Chris said, the age may depend on the maturity and ability to comprehend what is at stake.

Deuteronomy 1:39. Moreover your little ones, which ye said should be a prey, and your children, WHICH IN THAT DAY HAD NO KNOWLEDGE BETWEEN GOOD AND EVIL, they shall go in thither, and unto them will I give it, and they shall possess it.

    God bless.

OK, brother Alex, lets keep going.

You quoted 1 Corinthians 13:8-13 and explained it as this implies that there is going to be a second church doctrine not like the early churche's one which, the latter, is not quite the truth. But look at verse 12 "For now we see through a glass, darkly; but then face to face: now I know in part; but then shall I know even as also I am known." What does the expression "face to face" mean? It means we will see God face to face. So these verses about the perfect to come are meant for the time we will eventually enter Heaven and see God face to face and get to know Him, know about Heavenly things etc, not partly as we know those now. Prophesies, tongues etc will cease, no reason for these to exist any more, but love will remain, it is the only thing from this world which will accompany us in Heaven.

In addition to the above please read how apostle Paul describes the church to Timothy, the church in his time. 1 Timothy 3:14-15 "These things write I unto thee, hoping to come unto thee shortly:But if I tarry long, that thou mayest know how thou oughtest to behave thyself in the house of God, which is the church of the living God, the PILLAR AND GROUND THE TRUTH." That early church!

Now lets go to that statue in Daniel's book. Please read verses Daniel 2:36-45. It is obvious that talks about the kingdoms/countries that will rule the world untill the Kingdom of God finally comes. Daniel tells the king what is going to happen after him, see verse 29. The statue starts with Nebuchadnezzar's rule and ends with the last kingdom on earth. It goes from Babylon to ... Rome to the country of antichrist omitting the ones in between because those 2000 years are the times of the gentiles.

I still do not get where it states about a second church true doctrine. Paul says that christians in the future will believe what is nice to their ears ( 2 Timothy 4:3-4), which means that false beliefs amongst us in the future are to come/came.

    End for now...

Regarding the hebrew word H8580 Tinshemeth or Tanshamath in Leviticus ch 11v 18 as rendered as being "swan" and then rendered again in verse 30 as "mole". This is actually not confusing but simply an incorrect translation. The reason it was incorrectly translated is unsure but the many scholars that have agreed it to be incorrect, confusing or some that even use words like probable, perhaps or maybe the unclean bird. This will leave enough doubt for one to except that when in doubt one should leave it out. That in itself is confusion. One should study and show oneself approved to rightly divide the word.

The Most High Almighty is not a God of confusion. On the other hand man in his carnal state can confuse simple logic and commonsense. There has been reference that Charles Darwin is involved in the evolution theory of lizards evoluting into birds in the early 1860s.

So why was tanshamath injected in verse 18 as being swan then verse 30 as mole when there are two separate categories, flying fowl and creeping things. also, why didnt it say in verse 18 ... swan and after its kind which would then include the duck and geese as they are from the anatidae family. Interesting too is that "owl" is used in verse 17 running into verse 18...In my opinion the barn-owl fits the description of tanshamath in verse 18 as a greater possibility.

Barn owl is the most likely and the Ibis bird is the second other likely bird but definitively not the swan.

Why would swan be chosen? One theory is that the royal family made laws to protect the swan for their own banquet comsumption. I found this on the Royal Family site.

The Crown has held the right to claim ownership of all unmarked mute swans swimming in open waters throughout the country from as far back as the twelfth century. Historically, valuable rights of ownership were subsequently granted by the monarch to many people and organisations as swans were a prized food, served at banquets and feasts.

Fear and Accusations are evil spirits assigned to you by satan; to slow down your walk with Jesus. In Ephesians 6, shows us that the spirits are invisible.

We know they're stalking us, by their FRUITS. Fear, hath torments (which are evil spirits). Knowledge of the Word of God sets us free. You must be born again as in John 3. If you are born again, you have LEGAL RIGHTS as a child of God.

I'm saying this for the benefit of others who have, or are going through it. Jesus cleans and clears out our physical and spiritual house. The Holy Spirit is inside of us. He teaches the Bible to us; as we read the Bible. We are GARNISHING our spiritual house. If we fail to read the Bible, the armor of God, is UNUSED. Ephesians 6.

    MATTHEW 12:43-45 and Matthew 13:3-12

We cannot be invaded again, IF we garnish our spiritual house with scripture.

    Matthew 4:

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the DEVIL,

2 And when JESUS had fasted 40 days & 40nights, he was afterward hungry.

3 And when the TEMPTER came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

We must form a strong resolve to follow Jesus as a disciple. We are fighting off INVISIBLE enemies. Ephesians 6.

I've been praying over this some days. SATAN was an archangel. He was CREATED as like an angel; just bigger and more powerful; in charge of praise and worship of God. He coveted the praise all of the angels gave to God.

Coveting is a sin. He led a rebellion against God. Satan and 1/3 of the angels who followed Satans rebellion, were hurled into the earth.

Most or questions about sin, can be answered by the Ten Commandments, Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy.

Do the do's, and refuse the dont's. Receive Jesus as Savior, Be baptized. Attend Church. Ask Holy Spirit to teach you.

    GARNISH your "house"

See Acts 19:19, you may need to rid your home of "idols".

HELLO Dan, I am replying to Your idea, Godhead is referring to three persons or Merriam Websters Idea of Godhead, "the nature of God especially as existing in three persons" you asked "So, Godhead is referring to three persons correct?" and I say NO IT IS NOT REFERRING TO THREE PERSONS. it is referring to the power of GOD ALONE. To me there is no argument concerning this. There is No Debate. if it is not written in the Holy scriptures then I do not Preach it as always I write this in he hope of fulfilling the will of God, As written in 2PETER 3:9 The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, ( not willing that any should perish, ) but that all should come to repentance.

    Hi Pentecost, Apostolic,

I was referring to my first response to you where I asked a number of questions. Not the question you referenced. I do not see that question in your first post on this thread. Perhaps I missed it.

In any event. I do not wish to get in a protracted discussion on this topic. I am convinced of my view, as you, yours.

Anyone else reading this thread who is unsure will have to investigate both claims for themselves. May the Holy Spirit reveal the truth to all and may the truth prevail.

[I cannot find who I wrote this for, so I'm going to post here and hope he sees it.]

    MATTHEW 12:43-45

Also the parable in Matthew 13:3-12

We cannot be invaded again, if we garnish our spiritual house with scripture. Satan tempted Jesus in

    Matthew 4:

1 Then was Jesus led up of the Spirit into the wilderness to be tempted of the DEVIL,

2 And when JESUS had fasted forty days and forty nights, he was afterward an hungred.

3 And when the TEMPTER came to him, he said, If thou be the Son of God, command that these stones be made bread.

Streetpreacher: We must form a strong resolve to follow Jesus as a disciple (which is a student sort of).

His new mission was to hurt all of the people on earth__especially the ones that loved God, and followed Gods known Will for them. Later they were given the Ten Commandments written with the finger of God, to Moses.

Most or questions about sin, can be answered by the Ten Commandments., Book of Leviticus and Deuteronomy. It's easily understood how God expects His believers to follow Him, and not our sinful desires. Twisting truth to accommodate having what we want.

Do the do's, and refuse the dont's. Life gets easier.

    Receive Jesus as Your Savior.

Psalms 58 : 3....with God there is no age of accountability...And in sin did my mother conceive me...When Jacob and Esau were still in the womb God said he hated Esau but loved Jacob....One was born of the Flesh but 1 was born of the Spirit....The 2 Children struggled in the womb....And thats the way it is today....God looks at the heart not the age....All Children are born with the stain and the spot of Adam....Thus they will have to be bornagain at some point...no exceptions....We all struggle with our old adamic nature...we are all in a war with satan.....Soon as our Children are born they have a potential to sin at some point in their lives....Thats the remedy we must all be bornagain of an incorrruptible seed.

...... Gen 8... God said that man goes astray from his youth.....i baptised all my Children in the name of Jesus the day they were born...Tru story...I put them all in Gods hands...There is this big billboard on Hyw 69 here in Tx...Pray for your CHILDREN EVERY DAY....I love that billboard...And its a hugh billboard....I really think we should pray for our CHILDREN EVERY DAY....K

The word "Dominion" is in regards to stewardship, caretaking, honoring. The word has been misused by many

to imply that humans can do anything we want with abandon. I agree with you, we have created the mess of

the pristine world we were gifted. We have befouled the trust the animals placed in us as caretakers of them

by slitting their throats, spilling their blood, and eating them. And, we have disrespected the environment in

multiple ways via the pollution in the process of killing 70 billion animals a year, polluting the air, soil and water as well.

I made a conscious choice over twenty years ago to honor God and the animals by not eating them. I am an ethical vegan.

    Peace be with you.

God gave us life and loves all of us as Gods' children. We are meant to eat the plant foods, not the flesh and blood of dead animals who suffered and were killed. They did not want to die.

"For meat destroy not the work of God". peace be with you.

Were you afraid of your mom or dad or grandparents when you were a child ? Were you afraid of letting them down ? Or displeasing or disappointing them ? It's the same with your.....Heavenly Father , He is your creator , your sustainer , He gives you every good thing that you have in your life and He adores you . If you didn't ever want to incur your parents annoyance or displeasure how much more should you not want to annoy or displease your Heavenly Father who , unlike your earthly parents , is pure and righteous and always knows what is best for you . It's easy for me to think of God as my Father and my Mother , my breath my sanity my life , I didn't have great relationships with my biological parents so I have no problem in accepting God as my supreme parent .
