There are differences in the two passages you gave, viz Acts 15:1-20 & 1 Corinthians 8:1-13 (I've included the whole portion to understand the reason for these instructions).

In Acts 15, the problem was that of requiring circumcision of the Gentile converts to align with Jewish believers' expectation. The apostles disagreed, not wanting to put "a yoke upon the neck of the disciples", that it was only "through the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ we shall be saved, even as they" (v 11). To go back to the Law, even of circumcision, negates the free Grace offered to all through Jesus' death. Therefore, the decision was made that no such imposition would be made, but that those four requirements ('decrees') be observed. Why so? These were Gentiles who lived in a society that had no law or compulsion to heed certain things that the Jews found abominable. Rather than discuss each of those conditions, the point was that, these converts needed to observe these 'decrees', not only to satisfy the Jews, but also to desist from any entrance of fornication which was rampant in their society & worship.

In 1 Corinthians 8, what seems as a paradox to Acts 15, is actually a Truth we hold onto, to the liberty we have in Christ, but that Truth (even the right that we have) is constrained because of the "weak conscience" of another, that we don't become a stumbling block to him. We know that an idol is nothing (v4), but some aren't convinced about that; then to see a brother partaking of 'meats offered to idols' can introduce anger, confusion, & maybe "perish" (v11) in faith. In today's application, if we have people over for dinner & have pork & wine also as part of the meal, should we first ensure that the invitees won't be offended by those things? Some might say, 'who cares what they think?' The biblical stand should be abstention from those things for the sake of those who believe (or eat) differently.

Hopefully, you can appreciate that these two accounts are not quite the same.

I am in agreement with Terry here.

Jesus does not want us to be overly worked up about the timing of prophecy, because only God the Father knows when.

Jesus Himself, when He was on earth, said he did not know when some things would take place:

But of that day and that hour knoweth no man, no, not the angels which are in heaven, neither the Son, but the Father.

    Mark 13:32 (KJV)

Before His ascension, Jesus was pressed by his disciples about the time of fulfillment of some prophecies. He responded by saying they should not be too worked up about the timing of an event which God only controls, but that they should focus on the job of soulwinning instead, after receiving the Holy Spirit:

When they therefore were come together, they asked of him, saying, Lord, wilt thou at this time restore again the kingdom to Israel? And he said unto them, It is not for you to know the times or the seasons, which the Father hath put in his own power. But ye shall receive power, after that the Holy Ghost is come upon you: and ye shall be witnesses unto me both in Jerusalem, and in all Judaea, and in Samaria, and unto the uttermost part of the earth. Acts 1:6-8 (KJV).

One thing we know for sure: Christ is not coming back until the world has been reached with the Gospel:

And this gospel of the kingdom shall be preached in all the world for a witness unto all nations; and then shall the end come.

    Matt 24:14 (KJV)

    Dgjot,

I'm responding to your reply without reading any of the responses, so my thoughts will stay focused. Just incase there's repeating._..

Being you're still alive, it's not final judgement: Matthew 4:17, Acts 17:30, 2Peter 3:9, in context read whole chapter. Psalms 48:14, Proverbs 10:12, Proverbs 13:14, Ezekiel 33:11, Ezekiel 18:32,

it could be warning from GOD: Psalms 118:18,

or attack not from GOD,: Ephesians 6:12,

    Psalms 90,

    Jeremiah 18:8,

    Psalms 37,

You are angry because of injustice it seems: Exodus 21, Exodus 22, Leviticus 20, Numbers 35, Proverbs 8:36, Genesis 18:19, Proverbs 21:3,

    Psalms 73, Jeremiah 27:7-18, Isaiah 58, Isaiah 59, Matthew 25:31-46, James 2,

    Ephesians 6:10-18, Ephesian 4:26, Psalms 82:3, Ecclesiastes 5:8,

    Hopefully these are helpful

The Spirit choses to whom and what spiritual gift or gifts He gives- hope that He gives the gift that is most needed in one's life not sure He gives multiple gifts? Whatever gift He gives He gives to be used to the glory of God I think Jesus said it best when they asked what should one do and He responded to love God with all your heart, soul and mind and to love your neighbor as yourself on this rests all the law and the prophets he emphasized love - He is right - and in John 3:16 for God so loved the world He sent His only begotten son. Agape love - we can't understand fully this love but we r to love one another as Christ loved it was love that the father accepted his wayward son back and celebrated his return but I agree - to have gifts of wisdom , knowledge , ministry , etc wonderful but to truly love wow that is hard to find to have that ability to love your enemy? Love those that persecute you? Those that revile you? That is a mark of a true Christian I feel if there is not an outward pouring of love for God and for fellow man . Gifts don't matter

The Oklahoma City Bombing and 911 were done by muslims, it was also an inside job by masonic obligarchs. muslims families have killed their own family members in America, who have shown signs of leaving islam, or by their own suspicions, even when they do not have any real proof a family member will leave islam. sharia is already being practiced by muslims in the United States, and when they recite the koran they are reciting 350 death chant passages from the koran against Christians and Jews in their mosques, homes, and in public when they speak arabic. I hate the koran for it is diabolically evil. I do not hate muslims, but I hate their sin. The shirners are also muslim.

When I was at a dollar tree there were two incidents were two muslim women were giving me an evil eye stare. It is crazy how muslims are taught to hate Christians, Jews and other non-muslims.

It is easy for you to say what you are saying now, but when they cut off your hand and leg as the koran commands them to do to Christians, Jews, and other non-muslims, you may by that time have a different viewpoint. I am not wishing that on you or anyone, just saying. When they kidnap American children and women, and force them into sex slavery, you will wish you would have warned people of the horrors of islam. We have time to educate people about the brainwashing tactics of islam now, while there is this small window of time left. muslims are being brainwashed, and it is very sad. It is not a child's fault, who happens to be raised in islam.

If a 2 Chronicles 7:14 and John 3:16 does not take place in America, then the anti-Christ followers will take over this nation, and it will be given over to the stranger within our gates. Read Leviticus 26 and Deuteronomy 28. Jesus Christ is our only hope, only He has the power to save this nation from doom and gloom.

I want America to be a nation's that shines Christ's Light. There are still a remnant of Believers in America who reverence Christ.

Michael, I am sorry for your loss. My mom just died last Saturday from a two week battle with sepsis. Most of us (10 kids) were able to spend days with her in the hospital until she took a turn for the worse on Friday evening. I had spent 3 separate days with her in those two weeks. I had prayed with and for her, encouraged her to know that Jesus is with her and will never leave her, and gave her comfort care throughout the day. When she passed, I felt so joyful knowing that she was with Jesus forever in heaven.

I hope that you will be encouraged in your recovery from the loss of your mother. Everyone grieves in different ways. But it really is wonderful knowing that our loved ones believed and trusted in Jesus. We rejoice that they are receiving the fulfillment of their hope of salvation and eternal life. God bless you.

Thank you. That one of my favorite passages to go to when I'm sinking. I have 3 surgeries coming up. But not serious. I ask the Lord, why me? I'm doing the best I can to win souls to You?

He said, My grace is sufficient to take you through this storm.

You sermon gives me comfort. Thank you.

Johannes, Your friend is steering you the wrong way. Anakin was in Star Wars, not Harry Potter. Star Wars teaches false belief about God. Harry Potter is full of witchcraft and sorcery. Stay clear of anything that promotes, glorifies, or instructs in occultic practices that the Bible prohibits.

Read the Gospels in the Bible to learn about Jesus, and only read the Bible concerning Him. You will find in Him the answer to our greatest and deepest need-that of being saved from our sin and wrongdoings.

If you're the parent of the "girl" you should want to keep her safe. To dress a girl more modestly, not bringing attention to her feminine shape will help keep predatory behavior away from her. GOD likewise wants women protected, the scripture isn't to ruin fun, it's also about undue, unwanted attention. 1Timothy 2:9-10,

    Hopefully my perspective is helpful

    Dear Surafiel,

I was bullied from middle of sixth grade through end of eight grade at the private school I attended since 1st grade. It is a sad thing to endure. I did not tell my parents of teachers, as it was not the way most people went back in those days. But I did pray about it often, and I did remember what Jesus said about loving our enemies and praying for those who persecute us. I prayed to have this attitude in me and to pray. Also, I prayed that God will help me forgive them even though they did not seek this from me. These things really helped me. I only had 3 friends that would have anything to do with me during this time. In 9th grade I went into the public schools and most of my classmates from this private school went on to private high school. So, God gave me an escape from this situation. I pray that God will provide this for you, too.

As some have suggested, I agree that you should tell your parents and teachers and the principal. I suggest that you record evidence of bullying incidences. Perhaps in a journal, screenshots of mean notes or cyber communication. If they physically hurt you, take pictures of the marks and bruises. This will help the adults I mentioned take your abuse seriously.

Keep praying and study your Bible, especially the words of Jesus in the Gospels. He is always with you and will help you. My heart goes out to you. It is so hard to rise above the mistreatment and do what is loving and right to these people while still protecting yourself. I will be praying for you.

I was bullied in school, by some students & even teachers. I know several children bullied by teachers & others in authority. I even had teachers throw chalkboard erasers & hit me in the head, multiple times, in front of entire classes. One teacher pulled me by the hair of my head down the hall to office because I asked questioned his fairness 5th grade. 4th Grade the teacher had me miss play time several days because I white skin, & different eyes & hair. "to teach class about predjudist" it made students more isolating towards me. Many more situations, I & others have suffered.

    * To tell someone in authority that has no fear of GOD, sometimes makes the problem worse!

1st know: Jesus knows better than anyone what it's like to be wrongfully bullied! Pray to The Father for help in Jesus Name: Matthew 6:5-34, John 14:13, Isaiah 53,

    1Peter 2:19-25,

2nd if you have kind, gentle, loving & understanding parents you all could prayerfully consider Homeschooling.

If you have a difficult situation at home, then pray about how to tell your Parent/Parents/Gaurdian. Even if they don't outwardly show love, they most likely care about cruel, abusive behavior towards you by others. In one case a child was moved to different school & situations were much better for that child.

3rd, Remember this time, if you're called to endure is just a few years, sometimes much shorter when you pray. GOD does amazing things, through our prayers. Luke 17:6, Matthew 17:20, James 5:17,

4th, through hardship we learn compassion, to help others who go through what we have gone through, & going through. 2Corinthians 1:3-4,

5th, I will pray for you.

6th be encouraged as I have become unafraid of people & bolder for Christ, wiser especially for things today, you too should be strengthened & be wiser throughout these things. 2Timothy 2:3, Matthew 24:13, Mark 13:13,

Hopefully these are helpful & encouraging

    Debra Kay:

The book of Job is BOTH a PARABLE and a PROPHECY about and of Jesus Christ, as is Psalms.

Job 27:1 Moreover Job continued his PARABLE, and said

Job 29:1 Moreover Job continued his PARABLE, and said

Job 13:27 .....thou settest a print upon the heels of my feet

I guess the answer to you question: how long did Job suffer.

Jesus suffered three and a half years, his ministry in the flesh.

    God Bless YOU!

"Daniel your heart is not perfect before God due to some of your beliefs are very skewd and distorted, very divisive. I urge you Daniel to repent to Jesus Christ for misinterpreting His Holy Word. We all must be meticulous when it comes to God's Holy Word, and repent when we get it wrong"

That's a bit inappropriate, especially for the post guidelines...

I'm pretty sure personal attacks aren't necessary when trying to refute a doctrine.

"A soft answer turneth away wrath: but grievous words stir up anger."

    Proverbs 15:1

Tell an adult what is going on. Tell your parents, a teacher, the principle. If you go to church you can confide in a Pastor for spiritual guidance, but most importantly give it over to Jesus Christ, He loves you very much and keep reminding yourself of His promises He has in store for you. Jeremiah 29:11. Also pray for your enemies and do good to those who hate you, but use wisdom when dealing with those who bully you.

    Hi Gabriel,

Have you clicked on the Prayer Requests part of this website? You might consider doing that and reading through people's concerns. Some have thoughts of suicide and are in very desperate situations. If you find it in your heart to write a note of encouragement to some I think it might be a positive experience for you.

It sounds like you're blaming God for your current state. God never promised things would be easy, but the Bible says the opposite that we will face great trials, especially as a Christian. Life is VERY difficult for everyone. It's not easy to compare, because we only see part of the picture.

You wrote: "I find it odd that the people telling you to stay afloat are the ones that aren't doing too bad themselves. It's kinda like hey look where I am and if you believe you will too. "

Perhaps you don't yet realize that the very people who have taken time to write a note of encouragement to hang in there have likely already gone through extreme trials such as depression, suicidal thoughts, hopelessness, despair, feeling unworthy of love, feeling unloved, without friends, without family, and more. It seems you have assumed the opposite.

When you get through your current valley (notice my positive expectation of you?) and have a new perspective on things and realize new things about yourself, would you not also be willing to help others going through what you just went through? I see that several people responded to you in love and care for you and I hope you take that to heart. God bless you.

I recommend reading the book of Job tonight. He had everything, then lost everything in an extreme circumstance. He begged God why, why?! Then God answers.

After that I recommend reading about Paul. Aside from Jesus he was probably the most influencial Christian evangelist in world history- wrote more books of the Bible than anyone else. And he had a horrible past and killed people, then had horrible challenges. Read it and learn from it. God bless.

    2Kings 4:1,

I take it to simply describe: she was a wife of the son's of the Prophets. To indicate as she stated; they, or he "feared GOD" & served GOD, likely dedicated his life to GOD. A Prophet has a difficult call! If you read the accounts of Prophets that truly served GOD & Feared HIM, you may understand more why it was approached this way. She was wanting favor from GOD, help in return for family service, it seems to also set a precedence for us & our families, that serve & fear GOD:. Psalms 37:25,

    John 4:44, Luke 4:24,

To understand the call of the Prophet of GOD, read the books of: Jeremiah, Exodus, Ezekiel, Isaiah, Jonah, Malachi, Amos 7:14-17, Hosea, 1Kings 13, Deuteronomy 18:20, Habakkuk, Zechariah, etc.

    Hopefully these are helpful

I personally believe we are going to be raptured. Pre-tribe, mid-tribe or from the grave is up to my Lord. He said to keep the faith until he comes. We are talking about 7 years. Seven years that the saints have been sealed by our Lord and Savior before the seal is loosed. I personally believe in pre-tribe but have no fear of mid or post tribe. It seems though, Christ Jesus, not being a respecter of persons, would almost have to make an apology to the early church for the torture they went thru for their faith to allow us to miss the tribulation. Just saying.

All scientists seek to explain FOUR QUESTIONS: Time, Force, Action, Matter (Even Steven Hawking)

I was reading in Genesis, the Holy Spirit stops me on verse 1. He said the 4 things

TIME: in the beginning__God set TIME ticking

FORCE: The Godhead created. (Father, The Word; John 1:1) and Holy Spirit

ACTION: and the Spirit of God MOVED over

    MATTER: earth, waters, atoms

God purposed, Word spoke: Light Be, and there was Light. (Purpose Spoke Light)

Carbon dating proves earth is around 2-3 billion years. SATAN was around but he's a created being. He cannot create dinosaurs, cavemen or anything other than chaos. My personal theory is: Romans 1:19-20. God put the artifacts in earth for us to find; oil for our cars, coal to be warm, fresh water for us and salted water for creatures.

We have to pray for scientists to see the Book of Romans. It's an occupation, as is archaeology, bio science, medicine. We are without excuse if we refuse to acknowledge The Godhead.

They're going to flip out when they get to heaven and see it's lighted up by the Glory of Jesus (The Son) and not a sun.

Jesus wants us to know this stuff because THE HOLY SPIRIT IS OUR TEACHER. All we have to do is ask Him. It's not a secret.

angels do not marry. We will be as the angels in heaven, in that we will not marry or procreate. Survivors of the entire Tribulation who have received Jesus as savior__and managed to survive alive without being marked or murdered by Antichrist will be taken to heaven in human reproducing bodies for 1000 years. They'll have to resist satans deceptions when he gets a short parole to tempt the still human people; then Satan goes to the lake of fire forever. O happy days!

These present troubles are just temporary. Let's spread the Word to the Harvest and get as many in as we can. We're going to be living with The God that purposed all of this!

    Mishael
