  • Reading Scripture and Looking Forward - In Reply - 3 years ago
Years ago I felt like God was telling me to slow down. When I did, I begin to see how Moses would write. He'd be really into it and be interrupted. He'd write a part 1, be interrupted, write part 2. Next he would add some pages on part one; and write part 3. That's why Genesis seems choppy until you realize he was like many of us. Sailing along on a thought_ and someone will drag us away to solve a problem or just sit and watch a sunset till the stars appear.

I'm not saying to lay down a project indefinitely. I get up early to watch sunrise with the Lord, and drink coffee. It's silent, then "the first bird will chirp. Slowly all the birds wake and Praise the Lord. Then the trees give God a "wave offering." The clouds wake with the sun. It makes me happy and i sing too (like a frog).

In John 3, Jesus is telling Nicodemas that the wind flows here and there, as does the Holy Spirit. He's very precious to Jesus. How we respond to the Holy Spirit matters. He always "tells us" of Jesus. What is He showing us today in the Scriptures?

I'm 70 now and sometimes it feels like life is speeding up in some kind of tornado. I get exasperated with the crazy pace of this world. Sometimes I'm aware I'm being called to sit with the Holy Spirit to be ministered to, by Him.

Some are not willing to drop everything that is screaming for attention, to just sit in His presence and be healed of problems and annoyances. I sit and open my Bible to Proverbs (the book of Wisdom) and the storm calms down. My thoughts wander over into a future day, in Heaven, WITH this incredible Godhead who is everywhere.

I think we're all going to be very happy to live forever in heaven. I get excited about riding on white horses With Jesus into the final war on earth; although it saddens me the people who will still refuse Jesus as the Lord.

Always look forward; not backwards. Mishael

    Sebastian:

Colossians 2:16 Let therefore no man judge you in meat, or in drink, or in respect of a holy day, or of the new moon, or of the SABBATH DAYS:

Colossians 2:17 Which are a SHADOW of things to come; but the BODY (YOU) are OF CHRIST.

Hebrews 10:1 For THE LAW having a SHADOW of good things to come ....

Romans 8:2 For the LAW of the SPIRIT OF LIFE (the TRUE) in Christ Jesus hath made me free from THE LAW OF SIN AND DEATH (the shadow).

Hebrews 4:8 And he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God DID REST the seventh day (the shadow) from all HIS WORKS.

Hebrews 4:10 And he (YOU) that has ENTERED INTO THAT REST (the TRUE SABBATH), he (YOU) also have ceased from your works, as God did from his.

Hebrews 4:3 For we which have believed DO ENTER INTO REST (the TRUE SABBATH) ....the WORKS WERE FINISHED from the foundation of the world.

God spoke ALL THE WORDS before the foundation of the world, then RESTED, those words are being FULFILLED in the ORDER that he SPOKE THEM.

Christ rested when he finished speaking those words, you DESTINY, that you will be conformed into the IMAGE OF CHRIST, are inside those words spoken before the foundation of the world.

CEASE FROM YOUR WORKS and enter into the TRUE SABBATH, YOU WILL BE THE IMAGE OF CHRIST.

1 Corinthians 15:58 ....always abounding in the WORK OF THE LORD (those words spoken before the foundation of the world) ...

Philippians 1:6 Being confident of this one thing (God's words will be fulfilled), that He (THE WORD) which hath began a good work IN YOU WILL PERFORM IT until the the DAY (you become the IMAGE) of Jesus Christ.

    God Bless YOU!

    Doug,

Thank you for the reply. I guess the point I am trying to make is that God does His own work. I don't believe that He is dependent upon us to do His work for Him. Now, I do believe He can and does use His people at times for His purposes, but it is Him doing the work, not us. It is Him working though us an in us if that makes sense? If it is us doing God's work for Him, then we have something to boast of. I have to believe that I cannot do His work for Him. He does it. He might use me but it is still Him doing the work. That's why I said that if He is dependent upon me to do His work for Him, He's in trouble.

    Again, thanks for the reply!

It's controversial but I honestly believe the Earth to be over 7 Billion years old. Someone had mentioned pre-gap and I do believe there was a prior creation (dinosaurs and other beasts). I also believe that Lucifer was cast down from Heaven eons before God created man. In archaeology, similar have stated that after the cataclysmic event that killed the dinosaurs...there was darkness open the face of the deep. Clouds blocked out the sun around all the Earth, the land masses were flooded (possibly by the comet that struck what's now Mexico) and there was no life. Again, I am not encouraging anyone partake whether this is truth or not as that's your prerogative this may be something we don't know for certain until we can ask God Himself.

About the 6,000 year old Earth dating comes from the Angelican publishings of James Ussher in the 14th-century. It's not suggested in the Holy Bible and I'd ask any one to try to date Genesis. I imagine Moses (during His life) may not have known how old the story of the garden (Adam & Eve, the Garden of Eden) was but the writings were giving to Him by God. Read about the council of Ussher and it seems there was a debate going on during that time about the age of the Bible related to the Earth. Long story short, Ussher won the dispute and they published his dates. One of those things that I consider equally as controversial as those on the side of pre-gap.

The best I can say is that anyone from any denomination can be saved. However, I feel the reason it's so difficult is that the more years you live in a religious denomination (which usually teaches a substitutionary message of salvation). When I was catholic, they said your salvation was through water baptism as a baby. The difficult part was going through "sacraments (not found anywhere biblically)" and by the time I'd hit confirmation; my heart was hardened to religion. Many groups preached to me over years because I was passionately religious...but I did know the meaning of a single verse of the Bible toward salvation nor did I believe the bible was God's word. Many years later (October 3rd, 2010 to be exact), I'd been playing organ for a non-denominational ministry and heard the words straight from the KJV Bible on Salvation from Romans 10:9-13. It kept me up until 2 in the morning and I realized in the same night: 1. I was a sinner , 2. I was never saved and 3. I received Christ as my Savior to be baptized in His Blood. I've studied numerous denominations since getting saved. It seems that many have a varying definition of Salvation. I know that if you're born again, you'll seek after a fellowship with those who are also born again but you feel called. I tried preaching but it wasn't my calling. Music ministry has always been the way and I know there's no religion (Islam, Catholic, Mormon, Adventist, Calvinist, Jehovah's Witness, etc)...I know some from every religion who've been saved.

Good bless you sister. What a great story that to have a testimony. Many lost need to hear and thank you for having mercy. If all catholics were condemned...then I never would have been saved. Let's not condemn but show them the truth of the Gospel with love as it is in the Holy KJV Bible.

That is very true, Linda. He that continually, with unrepentance, denies the Son, does not have the Father either. What Peter did was a sad, sorry, sinful lapse; it was a singular fall, due to human weakness, not sinful will and rebellion.

Peter's testimony AFTER he wept bitterly (immediately showing the first signs of repentance) - he was restored, and truly had both the Father and the Son! :)

And you must remember, as I pointed out, and others here did as well, John 6:71! The Holy Spirit TESTIFIES that Jesus was speaking of Judas...not Peter, when He said, "One of you is a devil."

    I get what Peter did.

Linda, I myself, in times of weakness in my flesh, 'denied' Jesus by my words and deeds. There is NO 'sinless perfection' on THIS side of heaven. ALL of our sins and failures are denials -- yet, we who are born from above, DO have Jesus and the Father, and though we oft fail and fall miserably - by the grace of Jesus and His power - we will not fall fatally.

    Praise Jesus!

    Grace to you, Linda!

Hi Free. Concerning Simon Peter's name, I would turn to John 1:40-42: "One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother. He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ. And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone."

When Jesus saw Simon coming to him with his brother Andrew, He said to Simon, 'you are Simon the son of Jona (or, in Gk. Ioannes = John). In Matthew 16:17, Jesus calls him Simon Barjona, which is Simon, son of Jona (or, John).

Then Jesus says 'thou shalt be called Cephas (Gk. Kephas, meaning a rock), which is by interpretation, A stone (Gk. Petros = a stone or boulder).

So Simon could be referred to in several ways: His actual name (Simon Barjona), or Simon Petros (Peter), or even Cephas (as in 1 Corinthians 1:12; 1 Corinthians 3:22): in 3:22, Paul was referring to three people, Paul (himself), Apollos, & the Rock. So you have a selection here of which name you want to refer to Peter - all these names point to the one person.

Well today (April 2022) in Israel the date is 5782 (the month is Nissan) since the creation of the world. So this gives you the answer for what the Masoretic text says about it .

    Dear Patrick

Modern interpretation of the book of Genesis states that the periods of time that are called "days" in Genesis were actually millions and billions of years. God used the term days just for simplicity. God's intention was not to give a scientific account of the happenings in the beginning of the world but a general idea for what happened. Don't forget that the Bible was also read by people in the prehistoric era with no knowledge at all about those things. This is also my opinion. Now from Adam's time till nowadays is about 6000-6500 years roughly, depends on which Old Testament you read. There is i think. a 500 year difference between the Masoretic text and the Septuagint text. Some theologists teach that the first years of mankind written in Bible are symbolic, so the actual time was considerably longer, thus trying to compromise the Bible with the "scientific foundings". Wrong in my opinion.

Amen!!! Doctors told me my son would never walk, talk, read or write. I said you must not know my God. He does everything they said he would not. Doctors said my Mom would die from the bone cancer she had almost 30 years ago. They were so wrong. My daddy, they said he was on his deathbed. I had Faith and God answered my prayers within minutes. I know what miracles God can do. I'm so Blessed in so many ways.

Dear "Linda", and the rest, regarding this word "Go behind Me Satan". Does not mean in writing. But Peter's doubt and his unbelief in the work of the Lord became too much for the Lord. Jesus had to put Peter in place. Matthew 16:23 read the section:21-23. See that Peter here tries and say to the Lord: It must not happen. Jesus knew what He had to go through. And look at this attempt to mix unbelief into the Lord's predestined work. Peter should have understood that too.

(Also, i question who this Simon was? Could it be a mix between Peter and Simon here. And not be the same person. For before in Matthew 16:17. And afterwards it's just to Peter. Here i hope some readers can say something more, for understanding).

It will be the same as if I were to doubt this KJV website. And start speaking from another scripture or from myself. Here we must debate, and it is good for the heart if the debate gets a saving conversion. :) There would be confusion and outcry. But no one can deceive the Lord Jesus Christ!

God bless us all in Jesus name, love u all in Christ. John 7 and 8 Chapter

God is telling us simply that, If YOU if hear his word (Jesus) and believe on him that sent me, (The Father sent the Son Jesus Christ), hath everlasting life ( Romans 10:9), (those whom believe this fact have everlasting life, no ending this is only accomplished by Christ whom is our saviour which is eternal) and shall not come into condemnation; (condemnation from sin being removed by Jesus Hebrews 10:10 it is the devil that condemns, God convicts), but is passed from death unto life (when we were without Jesus we were dead, but were we now believe on him and his testimony, we have a new life, remembering life is in and with God).

I hope that helps God bless.
  • Marty S. on Acts 5:33 - 3 years ago
    v. 31 a very clear statement revealing that God has already forgiven Israel (as Jesus requested on the cross) and is giving them a second chance at the literal Kingdom of Heaven. "The Kingdom of the Lord in the hands of the sons of David" (see 2. Chronicles 13:8). All that has to happen is Repentance, confession that God is right and they were wrong, and the leaders have to accept Christ as Lord, Savior, and Messiah. Of course this didn't happen in the book of Acts (see Acts 7.) on a national scale so the literal kingdom has been postponed for over 2000 years now. Now you have an opportunity to be born again into The Spiritual Kingdom of God, by a spiritual new birth ( John 1:12., 3.; 1.Corinthians 12:13, Colossians 2., etc).

God will restore the Literal throne of David to Israel at his second coming; and as Joseph revealed himself to his brethren; so will Jesus reveal himself to the children of Israel, the literal Jews. Even so, come Lord Jesus!

Hi dear "A Wife", now i see that you are referring to scriptures found in the Old Testament. For clothes do not matter, we know that now. For we are talking about the Holy Spirit. There is only one who knows the hearts. It's God. We should be careful about is judging people who look like men or if they are women, who knows, who knows them? Do i, No. They can be like us Jesus saved and converted. Repent and be baptized. Believe fully and firmly in the Lord Jesus. If we share the world as you do now, we will see more exits. Example:

Isaiah 61:10 I will greatly rejoice in the LORD, my soul shall be joyful in my God; for he hath clothed me with the garments of salvation, he hath covered me with the robe of righteousness, as a bridegroom decketh himself with ornaments, and as a bride adorneth herself with her jewels.

A few decades ago, people believed that the UN was the antichrist.

Today in the eurozone, 19 out of a total of 27 member states have the euro. It is a good result as it is over half. It's not bad. But still, it is the US dollar that really has something to say in times of trouble :)

Anti-Christian thoughts fill the one who does not have Jesus in his heart. And spread such thoughts / words. But he who fills himself with the Word from Him. John 7:38 There is something there! Then we will not fear but rejoice in the Lord we who know it. It's the same all over the globe. And those who have Jesus in their hearts, purify themselves and resist such thoughts, do you agree?

Since this is found all over the globe. Is it probably the battle of good and or evil we are talking about here, friends!

I wish you all the best in the Lord Jesus. Read John 7 and 8 chapter. Jesus loves u and yours, i in Christ.

    Yes=Ronald Whitmore.

The beginning of the Athanasian creed is out of line with Scripture. That is unfortunate to be in this creed as there are so many great things said in it to ponder and check against Scripture.

Today we have what many call "easy believeism" where people are not given much biblical doctrine when they are witnessed to or being discipled to come to faith. Most often people truncate the Gospel by eliminating many doctrines that I feel are important to present to potential believers. I am not saying that a person needs to know about Abraham, or David, or Pentecost, etc. but they should present at least what is in the Apostles' Creed or like what you wrote as your own "creed".

Conversion is a work of God from start to finish, but God uses us in the process to present the Gospel to unbelievers He has drawn to us. We should not be so concerned about "getting a decision" as to presenting the entire counsel of God concerning who we are before God prior to conversion and who we become after conversion, along with the truth about Jesus' life, death, and resurrection and what that affords us. Also, we should present God truthfully, for we are told that we need to first believe that He is... Hebrews 11:6.

So, as witnesses, we should have a sound "creed" we wish to present to those we witness to. We should know it "by heart" to present it truthfully and consistently so that each person we witness to gets the same Gospel message. Then, should one be converted, we can help them to discover these truths in the Scriptures with some reasonable explanation so that the person can grow in their faith from the start. We should make time to read the Word together with them and answer their questions. We should guide them in the "essentials" of the faith before we turn them loose on the Bible without direction and guidance.

Thank you for your response. I am glad we understand each other and know that we both have a desire to share our thoughts and what we learn
  • GiGi - In Reply - 3 years ago
    hello, Man of God

The consistent teaching of the apostles and the church over the centuries is that God is a unity of three Persons in One Being, the

Father Son and Holy Spirit. All three Persons share the same eternal, unchanging, infinite divine nature. All three have always

existed. The first person is the Father of the second Person, the Son. The third person is the Holy Spirit. There are not three

Gods, but One in three persons. The Son is eternally begotten of the Father, having never having a beginning. Neither does the

Holy Spirit have a beginning, but with the Father in this Godhead are eternal, self-existent, and totally divine. This is a mystery

to us, but the Scriptures talks of the Godhead. One God/Three Persons, all equally divine, all equally eternal, all equally infinite,

all equally unchanging, all equally complete, all equally perfect.

    Read John 10:30 Romans 1-20 Colossians 2:9
