"Then he took the calf which they had made, burned it int he fire, and ground it to a powder; and he scattered it on the water and he made the children of Israel drink it."
Interesting how the Israelites had to literally consume the golden calf idol they had demanded Aaron to make and had given him the gold to create it.
In this way they were made to "own" their idolatry and this action of drinking the water with the ground powder of the idol mixed in demonstrates that sin comes from within us and is manifested outwardly.
Your example seems to fall a little short in showing that Peter was a devil. I say this because if you go to the very next verse ( John 6:71), it tells us who Jesus was referring to, and it was not Peter. It says that "Jesus spoke of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve."
Also, Jesus never called Peter Satan. That is a misapplication of what Jesus was saying. I do agree with you that Judas was a traitor. He was also a thief. And he was evil from the very beginning. There is nothing in scripture that would lead us to believe that Peter was evil.
When Moses went up the mountain and was gone 40 days, they thought maybe Moses was dead, and got restless.
Dathan volunteered to be a leader and suggested they make an idol. The Golden Calf god of Egypt. Out comes all the loot they were hiding. It was melted. Moses's brother Aaron was forced to carve it. They were just getting into an idolatrous party when Moses runs into Joshua half way down the mountain. Moses after a 40 day fast, was upset. When SOME people realized Moses was alive, they knew they'd been lied to. The got behind Moses. God opened a crevasse in the ground and all of the idol worshippers were swallowed up with the golden calf.
It would follow that after that, they had no more gold trinkets. They had Moses to lead them again. They wandered 40 years in the desert, until all the Older People died of natural causes. God was not going to take them into His Promised Land.
Only the young people followed Joshua into the promised land. Even Moses died on the mountain and did not go into the Promised Land. God let him see it.
I love the stories and people of the Bible. I paraphrase when evangelizing. Jesus told stories too. Your walk with Jesus will explode if you'll spend time reading the stories; soaking up the facts along the way.
One time God couldn't find a prophet, to prophesy; so he used a donkey. God wants so much to bless us-his children! It's in reading the stories that we are calmed on WHO GOD IS. He is LOVE.
If you read Samuel, Kings and Chronicles together (as we do with the Gospels, you will begin to understand the God of the Bible. Each book adds details and attributes. God is not mean or unfair; unreasonable. He doesn't constrain us.
The New Testament doesn't constrain us. We don't need a trumpet to be sounded to pick up where Jesus left off. He said GO YE. Go into your world.
I kind of liked OOPOS. It sort of sounds Greek for oops.
Sorry, but I couldn't resist!
Great question., Here's a few scriptures you can look over that may have answers to your questions.I would chime in when time permits. In the meantime hopefully someone can help us.
NOTICE THE PROMISES AND COVENANT MADE BY GOD WITH NO PARTICIPATION ALLOWED BY MAN.
Genesis 15:1-12.
Genesis 17:18-19.
Romans 9:6-9.
Galatians 4:22-31.
EMPHASIS.
This Promised Covenant is the work of God and can't be annulled by man.
Likewise you see a similar method as a allegory in the birth of Jacob and Essau.
Gods elected way, "By grace ".
Romans 9:10-12. And not only this; but when Rebecca also had conceived by one, even by our father Isaac;
(For the children being not yet born, neither having done any good or evil, that the purpose of God according to election might stand, not of works, but of him that calleth;)
It was said unto her, The elder shall serve the younger.
All for now
God bless.

JOEL 2:28-32
The promise began to be fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, when the Holy Spirit was poured out, and it was continued in the converting grace and miraculous gifts conferred on both Jews and Gentiles.
The judgments of God upon a sinful world, only go before the judgment of the world in the last day. Calling on God supposes knowledge of him, faith in him, desire toward him, dependence on him, and, as evidence of the sincerity of all this, conscientious obedience to him.
Those ONLY shall be delivered in the great day, who are now effectually called from sin to God, from self to Christ, from things below to things above.
[mishael: from other commentaries I read, the inference is that "casual Christians" may be goats we read of in other scriptures in the New Testament]
You can put your scripture in Google like this, and read some of the longer commentaries by Bible scholars. On any scripture you have questions about.
God the Father, God the Son, God the Holy Spirit are called THE GODHEAD in scripture; in the approved KING JAMES BIBLE.
There are many, many scriptures showing the Godhead working together; and speaking to each other.
Paul clears it up in ROMANS 1:
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who HOLD THE TRUTH in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath SHOWED IT unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and GODHEAD; so that they are without excuse
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
[The Scriptures about the Godhead. Sometimes called "Let Us..." in some passages. These scriptures are evidence of all 3 persons of the Godhead speaking to each other.]
Genesis 1:26, 3:22, 11:7
Isaiah 6:8
Romans 1:20
Colossians 2:9
Acts 17:27-30
1 John 5:7
John 10:30
(there are many more)
I hope this helps you. Mishael
a great place to start , to avoid mans slants on scriptures that are many ...
Mishael has given you a great way of searching this site for references on wisdom. I would just like say to be careful about James 1:5 because that word wisdom and what that verse means is often misunderstood and misapplied.
Psalms 41:9 View whole chapter
Yea, mine own familiar friend, in whom I trusted, which did eat of my bread, hath lifted up his heel against me.
Jesus knew of this prophesy before he even met Judas.
Judas opened himself to the scripture.
" The LOVE of money is the root of all evil." He betrayed Jesus for 30 pieces of silver coins.
Exodus 11:5 View whole chapter
And all the firstborn in the land of Egypt shall die, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sitteth upon his throne, even unto the firstborn of the maidservant that is behind the mill; and all the firstborn of beasts.
Exodus 12:29 View whole chapter
And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.
Exodus 13:15 View whole chapter
And it came to pass, when Pharaoh would hardly let us go, that the LORD slew all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both the firstborn of man, and the firstborn of beast: therefore I sacrifice to the LORD all that openeth the matrix, being males; but all the firstborn of my children I redeem.
Numbers 3:13 View whole chapter
Because all the firstborn are mine; for on the day that I smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt I hallowed unto me all the firstborn in Israel, both man and beast: mine shall they be: I am the LORD.
The bible does not give us a specific time of Satan's original fall. I believe that Revelation Chapter 12 is speaking of a future event that will take place. Satan has already fallen, but right now, he still has access to the throne of God. In Revelation 12:7, we see Michael the archangel battling Satan in the spirit realm. And in Revelation 12:8, Michael the archangel wins out, and Satan gets "the boot!"
Revelation 12:9 tells us that he was cast out. And we know from Genesis Chapter 3 who he is. He is called the Devil. And the word Devil means slanderer. And Satan, HASATAN in Hebrew, it means adversary. It's also used for the prosecutor in a courtroom.
That's why in Matthew Chapter 16, the Lord said to Peter "Get behind me Satan." He wasn't calling Peter Satan. He was calling him His adversary, the one who was opposing Him, HASATAN.
And so, the old serpent, called the Devil, he's the slanderer. And Satan, the adversary, which deceives the whole world: he was cast out into the earth, and his angels were cast out with him.
This is the final stage, where Satan loses his position before God. Right now, Satan stands before the throne of God accusing the brethren day and night. But then we see in Revelation Chapter 12 that Satan will no longer have access to heaven. He will be cast out onto the earth, and he will be in enraged. I guess by this, we can say, "All Hell is going to break loose on this earth!"
Up at the top is the SEARCH BOX. Links for the entire Bible is below that.
It's a really great SEARCH ENGINE, but just for Bible subject.
You can put the word 'Atonement' in the box and hit the arrow >
The engine will fetch every scripture that contains that word. You can sort the list; and the engine places the list in book order.
Or you can read either Old Testament verses only
Or, New Testament verses only
With DATES OR HISTORY, you'll have to go on Google. Type it in like this:
"Atonement, history".
By using all the search options, you'll learn some really awesome information. If search doesn't fetch anything try wording it differently.
If it fetches 10,000 verses; try wording it another wAy or just look at only OT or NT verses.
Look around on this whole website to see what's in it. If you get lost, just back out and come back in. Curious is good.
The location of the commentary box is below the search box. Touch a scripture and it will highlight Yellow. Scroll down slowly.

Mishael
God made a COVENANT with Abraham and Sarah, a year before she was even pregnant.
Ishmael was not the Perfect Will of God. He was born due to the Permissive Will of God. He allowed it. He even blessed Ishmael later with power, property, renown children. BUT HE WAS NOT part of the Land Covenant.
The land dimensions of Israel are fixed. No one has Gods permission to change it. He ratified it with Abraham and Sarah's seed. In their ancestors, Jacobs name was changed to ISRAEL.
Jesus's Geneology comes through Abraham and Sarah.
IT IS ALL RECORDED IN THE BIBLE and Hebrew records. It's a DEED, if you will.
If you stand back and look at a map of Israel's Land versus land that was given to Ishmael and his descendants: the comparison is almost ridiculous. Israel is not even 10 miles wide. A distance that can be walked every day; or jogged.
Israel's boundaries are chipped away constantly. God blessed Hagar and Ishmael, and all of their descendants. But it was never enough. So all of humanity is rushing towards the Last Great War: Armageddon. To be fought in the Valley of Megiddo.
Any peoples that launch a nuclear weapon at Jerusalem will be witness to the presence and power of Gods intervention. He sees it all. And He will intervene. GOD is not dead. He is the first party of the Abrahamic Covenant made way back in the Book of Genesis; which describes the "Cutting of the Covenant" completely. It is still IN FORCE, as far as God is concerned.
If Russia tries to challenge the Covenant; their nation will cease to exist. They are not the lineage of Ishmael. They're not Jewish. They have no part in the COVENANT.
Christ Followers are to pray for the Peace of Jerusalem. It wasn't a suggestion.

Mishael
They are very hard for even God to reach because they are sure they got it right . Or are too proud or what ever , the list is long on reasons for being deceived.
The spirit of anti christ is prevalent and few even know it exists.
The cannot understand that Jesus is the Son of God .
Oh no he got to be more or less than that . Because they just don't get it . Billy Graham was well deceived did you know that ? I doubt you did or have the understanding to see it .
I do not know of verse in Psalms that says that, but in 1 Corinthians 9:16-18, the apostle Paul touches on this. In Verse 17, he says, "For if I do this thing willingly, (that is, voluntarily), I have (Present Tense), a reward:
There are many pastors and ministers that would probably disagree with this, but if they voluntarily and willingly wanted to be in ministry, and they get a paycheck for it, that would be their reward!
In Verse 18, he says what is my reward then? Verily that, when I preach the gospel, I may make the gospel of Christ without charge, so that I abuse not my authority in the gospel.
There are many people in the ministry that need to be challenged, especially those on the television that continuously say we need more money. I am often tempted to call in and tell these ministers to go out and get a job. Most of these ministers are pulling in a minimum $150,000 dollars a year, some much more, and their ministry is running out of money?
Well, I say go get a job! If you do that, your ministry saves $150,000, and you just continue to preach the gospel. If you're running out of money, go and sell one of your multi-million dollar homes or your private jet and use that money where it needs to be used, not on yourself.
But you know, that doesn't go over too well with these ministers! I have to wonder what their response would be if you were to ask them to preach the gospel free of charge, as Paul did.
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.
Nobody likes half-way commitments. Do you?
The Greek text says " born from above", that is from God's Spirit .
These two witnesses will be testifying in the streets of Jerusalem for the first 3-1/2 years. There will be two witnesses, 144,000 Jews, and an angel flying around in mid-heaven for 3-1/2 years warning people of what is to come in the last 3-1/2, known as the Great Tribulation. So once the church is removed from the earth, God is going to use these two witnesses, the 144,000 Jews, and an angel flying non-stop for 3-1/2 years to reach the entire world (those who are left behind), warning them not to receive the mark, and preaching the message of salvation to those who are left on this earth.
It's very true that Jesus spoke to Peter in that very straight way, for at that one particular moment, Peter became a 'satan', an adversary, attempting to block Jesus from His necessary sufferings on our behalf.
However, we must look at ALL Scripture. Jesus restored Peter ( John 21); Peter had a very productive ministry, which we to this day are benefiting from. Praise the Lord. NO devil, no, not satan himself, is restored! He is forever cut off and lost.
By the FRUITS we know people. The Pharisees were told by Christ that they were of their father, the devil, because they were doing his works, his lusts!!
Peter, though he failed miserably out of human infirmity, he was never a devil. He sealed his testimony with his own blood.
Judas, on the other hand, had satan enter him, John 13:27, and fully possessed him; Judas betrayed Christ to death...thus, in both his lying and murdering, these wicked fruits - showed that he was a devil, and perished like one, in self-murder.
There is a vast distinction between Peter's character and Judas's, and both show from where they were 'born' from; Peter was truly born from above; Judas was of his father the devil.
Isaiah 14:12-15
"How art thou fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! how art thou cut down to the ground, which didst weaken the nations! For thou hast said in thine heart, I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God: I will sit also upon the mount of the congregation, in the sides of the north: I will ascend above the heights of the clouds; I will be like the most High.Yet thou shalt be brought down to hell, to the sides of the pit."
1. The secret things belong to the Lord. Only the things revealed belong to us and our children, Deut. 29:29. While there is much excellence in studying the Scripture, and we should do so diligently, there are some things that God has kept for Himself. He is a Sovereign Agent, needs no 'permission or approval' by us for what He does, and does not have to give answer to us for His dispensations. It is for us to humbly accept what He does by faith, acknowledging His absolute wisdom and righteousness in all of His proceedings, and thus, there must be a good reason for the course He takes in all situations. It is one thing to honestly search the Scriptures; it is quite another thing to have ungodly curiosity, as Uzziah did, and 'invade', or attempt to invade - what God keeps from us. It is far wiser to admit ' we don't know everything and can't explain everything', rather than to formulate some answer because we're too proud to admit that we cannot know everything about the Almighty. :)
2. The other possibility is that the firstborn of Pharaoh's siblings may have died or been killed, and Pharoah was next in line. We hear, for example, how Prince William is 'second in line' to Prince Charles. There is that principle of 'succession'. Another possibility would be that the firstborn was assassinated. It's a sad fact of history that there is much 'intrigue' in the governments of this world.
In any case, the Lord is righteous, and we will praise Him for His goodness and wisdom in all He does in heaven and in the earth, and in all the universe! Amen! Glory to God!
