Hello Darrell, Adam and Samuel

The Scriptures are pretty vague on this topic. This side of heaven we just do not know for sure.

This is my take on this. In this mortal life on earth we are bound by time. So, today is 4/8/2022. But when we die, we are not bound by time any longer.

With God, all of earth history and time has already happened in His omniscience and timelessness. Therefore, I think that when someone dies they immediately are at the point of the resurrection of the dead. the judgment, and eternal reign of Christ.

Although to us it may seem that a person has been dead for 5, 10, or 100 years, but on the other side on death, time does hold to anyone. One goes from mortal life, to death, to the resurrection, to the forever NOW.

I may be totally wrong on this. But it makes sense to me. We shall all see one day, won't we. And then the question will be answered.

I'd like to offer an alternative viewpoint to the absent with body present with Lord phrase.

First, it doesn't say that in the Bible. That phrase is actually from 2 Corinthians 5:8 where Paul said he would "rather" be absent from the body, and present with the Lord. He didn't say in 100% of all cases when people die that 100% of the time they will be "immediately" with the Lord. Paul was stating his preference. It doesn't mean Hitler and other mass murderers are with the Lord right now, simply because of this one verse.

Second, people often quote the verse about the man on the cross that Jesus said would be in "paradise" on that day as support. But Jesus didn't say 100% of all people, from this moment onward will 100% go to heaven, and zero people going to hell including Hitler? Jesus has the power to make exceptions and take people to heaven, but the word paradise is not necessarily the same as heaven. Some believe this word means a waiting area for the dead.

Lastly, there are many more Bible verses indicating that the dead are 'sleeping' and are awaiting the Lord to meet in the air and then face judgment. It says all will be judged, not just some. So, believing people go immediately to heaven without waiting on the Lord, and skipping judgment doesn't align with the other scriptures. God bless.

According to Solomon, "The dead know nothing" yet Paul writes in this letter that we in Christ are present with Him when removed from the flesh. In order to reconcile these seemingly contradictory accounts, we need to step away from our chains of time. Consider God's limitless capabilities. Not being constrained to time or space and traveling at the speed of thought in any direction, we can call upon Him and immediately, He hears. Before we ask. Consider when you fall on sleep each night. If you can sleep all night, the following is true: You close your eyes for just a blink. Then you wake. You have no notion that 8 hours have passed. If you wake early before an alarm, you must see the clock to know how much time has passed. We are unaware. When Jesus arrives to the home of the young girl he was to heal, they thought He was too late. Jesus tells them "The child sleeps"- For those in eternal rest, yes it is true they know nothing. Only those who are awake are aware of the passing of time. The next thing a "sleeping" child of God knows after nodding off is the sound of that "Alarm Clock" trumpet. Whether sleeping for 5 minutes or 1000 years, it's like a blink. Bam! With the Lord. And so for them, immediately after death, they are already walking into that glorious City of God. For the dead in Christ, the trumpet has sounded already. If you are a child of God and yet alive in your flesh, to the dead you are walking in with them. It has not manifested for you yet but... "IT IS FINISHED" Welcome Home! Remember, the Lamb was slain from the foundation of the World. I struggled with these 2 accounts until I turned the notion around in my head that Jesus knew me before the crucifixion. He made the statement, "Before Abraham was, I AM" Jesus conquered even the chains of time.

So I came up with another question. Where was I before this body? Present with...? And if I fast & pray, put my flesh away (absent) I can get into HIS presence. No flesh will glory in God's presence.

You don't have a spirit, God is the only Spirit.

This is part of being born INTO TRUTH.

Ephesians 4:4 For there is ONE BODY, and ONE SPIRIT .....

Man is only the body (or vessel) of THE SPIRIT. Of yourself you can do NOTHING.

Philippians 2:5 Let this mind (renewing your mind to TRUTH) be IN YOU, which was also in Christ Jesus

Philippians 2:6 Who, being in the form of GOD (a body holding ONE SPIRIT), thought it not robbery to be EQUAL WITH GOD.

There is only ONE LIFE (SPIRIT, GOD).

You are only the vessel that holds that LIFE, when your body dies, only LIFE and TRUTH remain.

You are instantly in the presence of God, because you HAVE been BORN AGAIN by the TRUTH of God's word.

Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (SPIRIT, LIFE, TRUTH) that worketh IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO his good pleasure.

Colossians 1:27 ... this mystery ....Christ in you .....(the body)

Yes ! The Word is alive and it should live in us , it's not just printed ink on paper , it lives , as does Christ , in our hearts and minds every day . We have to take the time and make the effort to read it , all of it , it is a whole living thing that we must ingest and nourish inside of us so that it becomes a part of us , who we are and what we think , feel and do . Christ is alive and is with us , right next to each of us all day every day , he's not just a story from an old book , he lives !

I am very definately a 'work in progress' . For me it's important to keep my ears open and to never think that I already know everything there is to know about the Bible . Every time I read it I notice some thing new , I want my brain and heart to be active and open . If I ever think I know it all that would be a disaster for me . We will know everything in the world to come , in this life is our time to grow and to do that , we must be open to learn and change when our understanding increases . We stop growing when we stop learning and we stop learning when we think we know it all . When are Christian dies what happens to their spirit? People say absent from the body present with the lord. Is that true right away?

We must put on each suit of the spiritual armor in order to stand firm against the attacks of the Devil.

Hell is detailed throughout the Bible. Hell is real and so are the various layers within. The Bottomless pit is a void where God keeps demons captive until they receive their judgment and punishment, also in the Lake of Fire. If you read in the following verses in Luke chapter 8 we're given an idea of the demons that were therein:

Luke 8: 30 & 31

"And Jesus asked him, saying, What is thy name? And he said, Legion: because many devils were entered into him. And they besought him that he would not command them to go out into the deep."

( 2 nd Cor. 3 : 6 KJV ) ..Who has made us able ministers of the NEW TESTAMENT ...The living words not the letter the written word

but of the living word of the Spirit....The letter killeth but the spiritual word giveth life...As Jesus said my Words are spirit and life.

.....But there is no eternal life in the Scriptures the letter etc ....Israel was Sola Scriptura..the lettter only,...Written words only but Israel stoned most all the Prophets and rejected the Christ...

....If the written word cd have saved humanity then Jesus shed his blood in vain and the cross was just foolishness.

.....The written word is like a love letter from a far away lover...But the living word is the Bridegroom,..God Almighty.

.....Much greater then paper and ink...Ya gotta realize that God Almighty is greater then a bible...The written word..The bible is the written word the lesser light but the living word ( his voice ) is the greater light...The new testament in his blood.

....David said thy word is a light unto my path and lamp unto my feet...Which was the law but David stumbled..Bathsheba.

..Jesus said are there not 12 hours in a day,..and 12 hours in a night...But if man walk in the night he is gonna stumble...Remember the night was the lesser light...Bible only..Written words only....No living word the greater light...The H.G.

......Thats y Paul is saying he has made us able ministers of the New Covenant the living words not the letter the written words that is a killer...But of the living words that giveth life...Which is that New Covenant...The book of LIFE.

Drinking and eating the body and blood of Jesus Christ. This is an act of unfathomable understanding. "The sacrament of the alter" How profound an act toward man!

This act is the will toward man, that we can live and refresh ourselves, while living in the body of Christ!

We are no longer of this world, we now live, move, and have our being In Him.

What Jesus did the night of his betrayal, would become His eternal, everlasting, covenant with Promise toward man.

So remarkable! How He has sealed us. Sealing us with His blood, sanctifying Cleansing us with His body. We are new creatures, living and abiding in Him!

Gen 6:4 There were giants in the earth in those day; and also after that , when the sons of God came in unto the daughters of men, and they bare children to them, the same became mighty men which were of old, men of renown.

Fascinating post Alex . The living Word comes to life in us when we truly know our Saviour , when our hearts and minds become attuned to his and we allow him to dominate us , we sacrifice ourselves , our own lusts and desires to do what he wants us to do . We allow him to show us how to please him and do what is right in his sight all day every day . Thanks again Alex .

St. John 14:21 He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him. St. John 15:10 If ye keep my commandments ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments and abide in his love. I am not aware the Bible uses unconditional love unless it uses a different word. It does say God commendeth(introduce or exhibit) his love toward us, in that, while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us. Romans 5:8

Opinions' will not work. With the sacrifice of Jesus the physical kingdom ended. With the resurrection of Jesus the spiritual kingdom began. Which is what there is today a spiritual kingdom.

Beings how Moses and Elijah appeared with Jesus during the transfiguration where are they now? Also, where is this elaborated at in the bible.

There are 2 kinds of faith 1 comes by hearing the written word and the 1 comes by hearing his voice the living word...Faith by the written word just produces another Church member...The New Birth can only come by hearing the living word his voice...which is spirit and life not paper and ink...The written word answers to the lesser light but the living word answers to the greater light...As Jesus said SEARCH the scriptures in them you think you have eternal life but it is them that testifies of me which is the living word the H.G...But the living word is the seed of Christ Jesus that produces a spritual Child IN US...which is the H.G. that Child of PROMISE...When Jesus said i have a greater witness then John thats the H.G. the Child of Promise, the multiplication of Christ in US...Thus real Faith is like a spritual pregnancy that results in a birth of Christ in us...Thats y its the substance of things hoped for the Evidence of things not seen...which is our new innerman the H.G...Even in the natural when a woman is pregnant she has the substance of things hoped, the evidence of things not seen the fetus.

....But the woman cannot get pregnant unless she knows her husband thats when the seed is sown...Thats us we cannot get spritually pregnant unless he knows us...and his seed is the living word a living seed that wants to be sown in mans hearts intiating a birth of Christ in us...The Son of Man, Mankinds fruit unto God...that Child of Promise...Jesus said b/c i have spoken these words ( his words are SPIRIT AND LIFE MUCH GREATER THEN PAPER AND INK THE WRITTEN WORD ) SORROWS HAVE FILLED YOUR HEARTS..Then he said when a woman in in travail she has sorrows but after the Child comes her sorrows are turned into joy...and the joy of the Lord is the H.G that Child of Promise....Whosoever receives one such child in MY NAME receives ME...( in my name implies he is the Father of the Child )...But there is no ETERNAL LIFE in the scriptures per se only in the Living Words. gbu

Hi SimonPeter Masya. The apostle deals with a number of subjects in this chapter, beginning with how the Christian is to live in this world, i.e. not giving in to fleshly desires but living in the power of the Holy Spirit.

Then in verse 17, Paul moves from our special position as the "heirs of God & joint-heirs of Christ", into the area of Suffering. As Jesus said in John 16:33, we will have tribulation (sufferings) & persecutions ( John 15:20) in the world, the apostle now gives another dimension of these truths. He says that as Christ suffered & was glorified, so the promise is to us also ( Romans 8:17). In fact, our sufferings are temporal compared to the (eternal) glory which will be revealed in us. So, this matter of suffering doesn't come to Christians only, but all of creation is affected. All of God's creation of living things & the inanimate (of weather, earth's natural materiel, rocks & mountains, oceans, etc.), also suffer because of the corrupting effects of sin & the presence of Satan & his works that go on ceaselessly.

Therefore, all creation waits for the "deliverance from the bondage of corruption into the glorious liberty of the children of God; groaning in pain" ( Romans 8:21,22). And not only those, but also believers are waiting for "the adoption, that is, the redemption of the body" ( Romans 8:23). As humans, we have never known what this world & life itself would be, a world without sin & its corrupting work - we only know that there are good times & bad times, of pain & sorrow & also joy, of life & of death - & we think this as a normal existence. But when we're taken away (our completed redemption), all the limitations & sufferings of life will be gone & our existence will be in a perfect state. We have a taste of that now with the Holy Spirit in the believer helping us to live beyond the tragedies in the world, but the day will come when all will be perfect, sin no longer having its grip. This was Paul's message of hope for every child of God.

In reference to Romans 8:22-23

Christians are given a new spirit and nature when they are saved and that nature is a union of our spirit with the Spirit of God. But we also remain in earthly bodies that struggle with sin and sorrows, causing us to yearn for the day we will be delivered from our earthly bodies and given new sinless bodies to dwell in sinless heaven with God.

What does the scriptures in Romans 8:22-23 mean?

Hello Taufusi. This passage takes us back to the actual time when Jesus & His disciples celebrated the Passover. You can read it in Matthew 26:17-30. In this passage, Jesus had prepared the heart of a particular man to give his home to Jesus & the disciples to eat the Passover. At this time of dining, Judas is identified as the one who would betray Jesus to the Jewish leaders; and they were eating this meal in memory of the time when the Angel of Death 'passed over' the Israelite homes that displayed the blood on the doorposts & lintels ( Exodus 12:1-14), so that they wouldn't suffer death as the Egyptians did with their firstborn.

During their meal, Jesus then took a portion of bread (flat bread as eaten in the Middle East & Asia), blessed it & broke it & gave to His disciples. Jesus was showing them that soon He would have to die & His Body broken (put to death) on the Cross. They would now eat it, looking ahead to that time when "Christ must needs have suffered" in death for man's sins & there was no other way for man to be saved & acceptable to God, except by the Cross.

Jesus then offered them the cup, saying "this is my blood of the new testament, which is shed for many for the remission of sins" & to "drink all of it". Jesus' shed Blood on the Cross looks back to the blood the Israelites placed on the doorposts & lintel of their homes when they were in Egypt. For them, it meant avoiding death in their families - for us who have put our trust in Jesus, it means that we have passed from death & punishment for sins, to new life in Christ. The Blood also showed that it was special - not animal's blood to just shield them from God's Anger, but the Blood of God's Son that guarantees us a complete forgiveness, healing, & acceptance by the Father to all who come to God through Jesus.

The disciples ate this meal looking forward to the Cross - we eat it now looking back with thanksgiving for what God accomplished for us through His Son, until He returns for us.
