  • GiGi - In Reply on Job 36 - 3 years ago
Richard, Job was a righteous man. He loved God and he was humble in many ways. He suffered great losses and stood fast in his faith through it all. Even so, He needed a BIG dose of GOD to come to a better understanding of the God who made him, the heavens and the earth.

It is not a sin to need to have our thinking about God enlarged. We are but dust. But how wonderful for God to condescend to appear to Job and "school" him. God loved Job, but still needed some straightening out in order to go on into the blessing of God's restoration. Job story is inspiring and sobering at the same time.

God is very great, higher than we can ever imagine, too wonderful for words, beyond our ability to comprehend or describe. What He reveals about Himself in history and the Word is what we are given. He has revealed enough of Himself to mankind to for this life. The life to come will reveal so much more! We just cannot handle what He has not revealed yet in our flesh and blood state.

Christians need to grow in the Lord and for their faith to increase as mentioned in 2 Cor. 10:15. I mentioned humility as important for growth in the Lord. Humility and total submission and servitude to the Lord. I love the words of this hymn and agree completely with the intended message:

    1

You have longed for sweet peace, and for faith to increase,

    And have earnestly, fervently prayed;

But you cannot have rest, or be perfectly blest,

Until all on the altar is laid.

Is your all on the altar of sacrifice laid?

Your heart, does the Spirit control?

You can only be blest and have peace and sweet rest,

As you yield Him your body and soul.

    2

Would you walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,

    And have peace and contentment alway;

    You must do His sweet will to be free from all ill;

On the altar your all you must lay.

    3

Oh, we never can know what the Lord will bestow

Of the blessings for which we have prayed,

Till our body and soul He doth fully control,

And our all on the altar is laid.

    4

Who can tell all the love He will send from above!

Oh, how happy our heart will be made!

Oh, what fellowship sweet we shall share at His feet,

When our all on the altar is laid!

Two main factors in growing in the Lord are prayer and Bible study. Romans 10:17 tells us that faith cometh by reading, hearing, and believing the word of God. Never stop studying the word of God as you seek your faith to increase.

Another important point in growing in faith is the need for humility. When the disciples asked the Lord in Luke 17 to increase their faith, He gave them instructions about humility.

5 And the apostles said unto the Lord, Increase our faith.

6 And the Lord said, If ye had faith as a grain of mustard seed, ye might say unto this sycamine tree, Be thou plucked up by the root, and be thou planted in the sea; and it should obey you.

7 But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

8 And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

9 Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

10 So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

There are 22 letters in the Hebrew alphabet. Psalm 119 is divided into 22 segments of 8 verses each, with a different letter of the alphabet titling each segment. Aleph is the first letter in the Hebrew alphabet.
  • Marke - In Reply on John 14 - 3 years ago
We find the Lord in Luke 6 makes it clear that God is not interested in human claims of obedience to the letter of the law so much as He is interested in humans demonstrating a heart to love God and fellow sinners in fulfillment of the spirit of the law.

Elihu did not falsely or unkindly accuse Job of anything and God did not rebuke Elihu when He rebuked Job and his 3 friends.
  • Anti666 JustisRighteous FastWatchPray WeAreDust on Revelation 13 - 3 years ago
666 is the number of the name of the beast, which is written in Revelation chapter 13 verses 17 to 18, and which is the number of a man, because we were made in the 6th day, and were made in 3 parts, the spirit, soul and body. We are dust, which is written in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7. Fasting is not eating or drinking, and if you fast after the order of Luke chapter 5 verses 33 to 39, no eating or drinking, you will increase your own dust and become how the Most High (Psalms chapter 91 verse 1) made you. We were lied to that fasting is not eating, but drinking, by the satanic elites (mostly Jewish, Jew ish because the Jew ish are not Israelites, which is written in Revelation chapter 2 verse 9, and Revelation chapter 3 verse 9), who lowered the dust of the Earth for thousands of years, and more than that, because the world is in an abominable being and the sun and moon rising and falling is altered by the dust of the Earth (sun rising is agitation/rapid dust production and sun falling is digestion/rest, in which dust is produced moderately).

    Amen Brother Jesse.

Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death? Romans 6:3.

Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. John 14:19-20.

When Christ rose we came alive!!

We're in Christ and Christ dies no more.

    God bless.

The most accurate version of this verse is found in Luke chapter 5 verses 33 to 39. We are dust, which is written in Genesis chapter 2 verse 7. It was very clear in the thread that you shared, Gigi, that those words were the 'meditations of your heart'. Though you were 'free' writing, I trust that every word was turned over in your heart many a time as you contemplated the glory of our God!

There are so many glorious attributes of the Lord! Sometimes I think that He is a great and glorious and precious Jewel, with many facets, and as we gaze at His beauty through the lens of Scripture, we are dazzled with the luster and beauty of every one of those facets!

Praise the Lord! He really is altogether lovely! Let us rejoice in Him always!

Prayers and blessings for a successful surgery tomorrow, and very speedy recovery!

Will you be home tomorrow when it's all done?

Oh dear brother, Joe!! How many times, as I've heard others share something from the Word of God -I've had Dthe same, "DOH...WHY didn't I see that?" moments! Ha ha!

Or...how many times, as I've read through the Bible, I find verses that I completely forgot were in the Bible..though I've read them many times!!

I agree with many who have said that there are NO 'stupid questions'. Asking is how we grow in wisdom and knowledge...so..it's all good! :)

Be blessed in your pursuit of growing in God's Word, Joe.
  • Richard H Priday on Job 36 - 3 years ago
There are many scriptural truths here which we find in Psalms in particular written much later than Job. Concepts such as the wicked not living out half their days; gold and silver not being of any value at judgment day; God disciplining some with fetters (v. 8); and some coming to repentance; and others not are all further examined not only in Psalms; but in books such as Isaiah.

Again; somehow in all these arguments Elihu continues the incessant blaming of Job for some supposed wickedness in Him; the only difference being that he can't find any righteousness in his friends. Because of this; all of their former arguments aren't said to stick and make an impact. Ultimately; the enemy is trying every conceivable way to pin blame on Job. After this discourse; God Himself finally addresses Job with two stunning arguments which finally convinces Job of his unworthiness. Sometimes only seeing the glory of God convinces us; although it would be nice to think that the first response of sharing in silent grief for a week in his condition would have meant some compassion would have been extended during their discourses. Apparently not.

In the end; Job has to pray for his friends although mysteriously the last one here isn't part of the list; only the first 3 friends. In this prayer; he is forced to forgive them in his heart. This may not be mentioned; but it had to occur as a last step before the Lord restored his former blessings according to the character of God. His prayers couldn't have been genuine otherwise. We do well to remember in this era of prosperity; heath and wellness preaching to read this book and respect it as part of scripture. We also should expect to go through the fire; and not think it is strange going through it ( 1 Peter 4:12).

    Dear Trey

    Adding to previous great answers.

Faith is also a gift given by God's Spirit like the gifts mentioned by Paul in 1 Corinthians 12: 4-11. (pay attention to verse 9). So you can also ask the Holly Spirit to give you the gift of Faith.

    Dear Jane

Those are the letters of the ancient Jewish alphabet. Aleph is the respective of the Greek letter Alpha (English A), Beth of Betta (English B) and so on. They were used instead of numbers. So Aleph is 1, Beth 2 and so on

  • Jesse - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Trey,

If you have been born of God's Spirit, you have all the faith you need. There is no such thing as a born-again believer not having enough faith. I say this because faith (spiritual faith) is not something we can produce. Faith is a fruit of God's Spirit ( Galatians 5:22).

It is God's Spirit in a believer's life that produces spiritual faith. We cannot produce spiritual faith no matter how hard we try. We sometimes try, and then we get frustrated, when in reality, all we can produce is flesh.

Something else to keep in mind is that there are two types of faith, human faith (Which everybody has), and the faith that the bible speaks of, which is spiritual faith. In our human effort, we can do things to increase our human faith, but we cannot increase spiritual faith. It takes God's Spirit to do that. Not everyone has spiritual faith because not everyone has God's Spirit. Again, we cannot produce spiritual faith, only God's Spirit can. When God gives us His Spirit, He gives us 100% of His Spirit. His Spirit in us produces faith, so we are never lacking in that type of faith because His Spirit is never lacking.

One other thing we need to know is that the word faith (PEITHO) literally means persuasion. That's what faith is. It isn't something we have to muster up ourselves because we can't do it. It is when God's Spirit in us persuades us to do His will. But it's His Spirit producing the faith (persuasion), because without the presence of His Spirit in our lives, we would have no spiritual faith at all.

So to answer the question "How do I gain faith?" The best answer I can give is to receive Christ, be born of His Spirit, and submit yourself to the persuasion of His Spirit in your life. What is He persuading you to do? Whatever it is, that is the answer. But there's no such thing as a believer (In Christ Jesus) not having enough faith. If you have Christ, you have all the faith you need. You have His faith. That's why the bible calls it the faith (of) Christ.

Thank you Kay. I am glad that what the Spirit has urged me to write is helpful and edifying to you today. For me, I really enjoy writing out my thoughts and I always want to be prayerful in doing so, because, although some of what I write is only for me and

God, it is usual for something written down is meant to share with another person.

Often times, as I "free" write, (such as on here) I really do not know all of the direction of what I will write, nor sense it will make in the re-read. I think these are instances where the Holy Spirit is guiding my words to be cohesive, understandable, and honoring of our wonderful God. What a blessing to be used this way!

The last week I have wanted to initiate a post, but prior to today, I did not know what topic to write on. I am glad I was patient and waited on the Lord, seeing as you have been uplifted. God knew all about this ahead of time! We can know today that God orders our steps when we walk in obedience and sensitivity to the Holy Spirit.

Be blessed today, in Jesus' name, our great and glorious Savior, God, and King.

Dear "Taufusi Faletolu", it is called The Last Supper dear friend. And this is done at Christian congregation meetings around the church of God.

It is a reminder of the Lord Jesus and what He did for us at Calvary. And we need and remember in unison in this. (If i could have decided when and where i would have taken it every time there had been a meeting). But I do not get it: p

For then all who came had been united in one spirit. Be blessed dear friend in Jesus Name, 2 Timothy 1:7

Romans 10:17 - be much in God's Word.

And - act on your faith. Faith grows in our obedience to God's Word. James tells us that 'faith without works is dead'. We SHOW our faith by walking in the good works that God has ordained for us to walk in, Eph. 2:10.

    Blessings!
  • Daniel - In Reply on Exodus 32 - 3 years ago
Repent simply means a change of mind resulting in action. There is no mistake. Keep in mind, the scholars who worked under King James spent over 7-years making sure all texts were interpreted correctly into English.
  • Kay - In Reply on Revelation 9:18 - 3 years ago
    Hi Joe,

From what I understand, the answer is verse 17 b and 18 a, read together:

..."out of their mouths issued fire and smoke and brimstone.

18 By these three was the third part of men killed,"

The 'three', then, are the fire, smoke, and brimstone, which did so much destruction.

    Blessings!
