This is what I was taught:

    1 Corinthians 6:12

All things are lawful unto me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but I will not be brought under the power of any.

    1 Corinthians 10:23

All things are lawful for me, but all things are not expedient: all things are lawful for me, but all things edify not. [you could die from disease]

The Greek word translated "expedient" (sumphero) means literally, "to bear or bring together"; with a personal reference, "to be well or profitable." In the New Testament it never means "profitable" or "convenient" as opposed to what is strictly right. It is translated "expedient" ( John 11:50, "it is expedient for us," the Revised Version (British and American) "for you".

    Spencer,

Thanks for the notes, and I appreciate your passion for the Lord. I'm not going to worry about you creating a lot of sin in your local community.

Here is my interpretation of verses, and the rational I assign to them:

Revelation 20:10 After the 1,000 years, the devil is put in the lake of fire where the beast and false prophet are.

Revelation 20:15 *Here is the beauty; everybody that ever lived was written in the book of life. God does this wonderful thing, that through Christ's blood, may we all have life.

The OT saints are already in heaven, under the alter. They were given white robes at the fifth seal, and told to wait till the 144,000 are killed at the seventh trumpet, for judgment of those on EARTH, Revelation 6:9-11.

Your heart is attached to Salvation, mine to the prophets. If you have any questions, or other topics, a second opinion, let me know.

The entire book about the Preacher is for guidance. I would absolutely say that it is inspired by the Most High God. See Ecclesiastes 10:14

God bless us all with His Wisdom in His time for all of us. Jesus loves us and i in you through Christ. John chapter 6 and 7

Gigi, Thank you so much for your comment. I hear this voice: My People are destroyed for lack of knowledge. It's true.

I've looked at TIK TOK a few times, and it makes me so sad the things people think are funny. The irreverence and twisting of values. It gives new insight to the story of Lot's wife. Don't look at destruction with humor and curiosity. Keep our eyes forward on Jesus. We will be with Him for eternity.

I have a lost baby in heaven. He has a name, David. I will see him some future day :)

It takes a lot of unselfish love to carry a baby to term and let them bless a childless couple. I do things for an orphanage here, and it grieves me that I'm too old to adopt a child. But I can raise money for their futures and present, but the best would be to give them a family. These are little Baptist kids, raised with Christian values. Thank God they'll meet their Father in heaven soon.

    Hello,

Blessings, For god so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son that whosoever believeth in him should not perish but have everlasting life. John: 3.16.. If I should count them, they are more in number than the sand: when I awake ,I am still with thee. The Love of God overtakes all unworthiness, in Jesus Christ ,to you and all the Lord will remember by you in him by Jesus Christ the way given to mankind to the loving heart of God

Dear, i have to get involved :) even if you have received good answers here. We must not forget that we have received grace. The grace ikke live in has mirrored my wisdom and gives me the power of God to testify, pray for people, be salty, be a fellow human being, it is never in compulsion, but the Lord we test our strength. See where you want to go?

Grace dear "Ms. Jackson" is what we should lean on in difficult situations. And we must never forget and do to others as we want others to treat us. This is so that we will walk wisely without bad thinking. I can see your darkness because I've been there myself. That said, the Lord will help greatly. But if there are unforgivable things, you can only help yourself. Such is the rule. We must forgive ourselves first, to clear and forgive others what injustice they have done to us. Get light now!

And never go back to that dark place! We must capture every thought. In order not to let in evil spirits that distort reality and we are bound in chains of sin and misery that only grow. For example, when we see disease in our ranks, there is a possibility that they have not thrown away evil thoughts. But allowed for example doubt, greed, forgiveness, unloving, even further in their lives. That is why we must read the scriptures every day, For encouragement, for peace of mind, not to allow evil thoughts. But openly to the work of God.

In scripture we learn about Jesus' state of mind the same we should have in all purity! Jesus love you i in Christ. John 7:17

May God bless us abundantly with wisdom and the spirit of revelation so that we all will be able to resist the evil day, as you describe. Start your service in this moment, do not wait, you are valuable and do not forget where you were before.

Consider this scripture. If God forgives u when we confess our sins-ought we not to do the same?

One of Satan's names is ACCUSER. He accuses us and then we accuse ourselves .

When we confess our sins and ask for forgiveness; what does God do with those sins we confessed?

    Psalms Chapter 103

10 He hath not dealt with us after our sins; nor rewarded us according to our iniquities.

11 For as the heaven is high above the earth, so great is HIS MERCY toward them that fear him.

12 AS FAR AS the east is from the west, so far has HE removed our transgressions from us.

13 Like as a father pitieth his children, so the LORD pitieth them that fear him.

note: that is a straight line which is INFINITY. God doesn't keep records of sins we confess and repent of.

Mishael, I have appreciated what you have shared about child sacrifice.

In present day, the altar of sacrifice is sexual sin and people thinking that God should not have the right to create a life from

sexual encounters. Our society's regard for protecting human life has so deteriorated since Roe vs. Wade. We see it in the

senseless killings in gang shootouts and child abuse, abortion being the ultimate child abuse, in my opinion.

ACLJ is a good legal organization that goes to bat for so many causes to right injustice. They are doing the Lord's work in so

many ways. America has had the stain of slavery, which was rightly abandoned. Now we have the stain of abortion, which needs

to be abandoned as well. We are not alone in these matters, as it is a worldwide evil.

I pray that God will lead more pregnant women to give birth to their babies, forgoing abortion in favor of life. I also pray that

many of these women will choose to put their child up for adoption. The rate of infertility in childbearing women increases with

every decade which means there are more and more couples who wish to adopt children. May God lead thee babies to loving

    homes and adoptive parents.

Kay, I was raised in a smoking home. Hated it. I have always believed that our longs are for exchanging fresh air, not for handling the substances people inhale by smoking. If we use our bodies in the way God intended we will be more healthy, but more importantly, we honor God with our bodies.

I know that smoking is hard to quit and remain "the quitter". It just reminds me that we all have ways/habits we could ask God to change and release us from.

Create in me a clean heart, O God.

    Thanks Richard,

Sometimes humor helps and is appropriate, but on the web, you are right, we may get flagged for something innocuous being interpreted as out of bounds.

It has been a good day considering surgery was early this morning at 7:30. I am having more pain now that the numbness is worn off. Pain meds help but having breakthrough pain before I can take another dose. I know it will get better from this day.

We will see what Friday brings with my foot surgery.

So, in my pain I pray for those who are in pain and do not have relief like I do. I pray for those who are addicted or mentally ill and cannot help themselves. This puts my pain in perspective as I intercede instead of being more self absorbed.

I hope I didn't offend you. I follow the work of ACLJ, on abortion lawsuits. Most people do not know abortion has ancient roots. My aim was to enlighten what those ancient roots are. I had followed a story of why it became something that ancient people did. I saw the pictures. The walls that were constructed of tiny caskets. Scientists xrayed the contents and there were tiny skeletons within them; skulls.

The ritual was done on living children. We need to know the origins.

Today it has become a form of birth control. The cost is minimal. The unborn babies are burned with the chemicals used. They have souls because the Bible teaches us that. They are happily in heaven with God.

    I mean no harm.

The Holy Spirit is Your Teacher. He helps us understand Scripture. Just ask Him to teach you, what you are reading in the Bible.

People in here will give you their help to answer some questions about scripture. We do it because we love you too.

Always ask Holy Spirit what is the Truth; and to open Gods Word, and the meaning, to your newborn spirit.

Matthew 11:25-30. Verse 27, you are WHOMSOEVER

Matthew 14:23 is something Jesus did every day. Get alone, quiet and pray in your own words to the Lord. Be assured that He is hearing your prayers.
  • Mishael - In Reply - 3 years ago
You have to do what we all did; every one of us. We ran from the knowledge of God for years. The Holy Spirit draws us towards Gods love.

There are many distractions that try to keep us away from that love. But there is a hole inside of us that only God can fill.

It's like Jesus told Nicodemus in John 3: unless we are born again, we Cannot See The Kingdom of God. John 3:16, "for God so loved THE WORLD (that is you).

That's what I found 36 years ago. Don't let anything, or anyone separate you from that love. Nobody ever loved me like Jesus does. It is easy to hang onto Him, when you accept that much truth. The world says it loves you but it takes and takes and takes until you don't have anything left again and then it leaves you alone.

There's a box in the comment rooms or a link out on the red entry page: BECOME A BELIEVER. It's Thoughtfully written to help you get started.

In the book Song of Solomon, God says 3 times: I am my Beloveds (you), My Beloved (you), is MINE. I found myself to suddenly be wrapped in that Love. I never went back to the World; which hurts us and lies to us every day.

You can use that prayer on the Link, to be a shell for what you need to confess to God. Our hearts are not just a beating organ. It is a Throne that God sits upon. The world is gonna hurt us, disappoint us and make us doubt. We have to become His precious child, and keep Him on that throne. Make your love strong by reading His Bible. Start in the New Testament about Jesus. He is the one who brings us to the Fathers Love.

Everyone in this room will answer your questions and help you to become stronger in your faith. Hold on to Jesus tight. If anything threatens that faith, out loud, say the Blood of Jesus. His blood is so HOLY that no evil spirit can touch you. Time is running out, so hang on tight.

Hi Robin. I assume that you're referring to 2 Timothy 2:1, "Thou therefore, my son, be strong in the grace that is in Christ Jesus."

If that is your reference, we read that the Apostle Paul is encouraging young Timothy to be spiritually strong as a Church leader, finding strength because of the Grace that comes from Christ Jesus. So this wasn't a human generated ability to withstand the forces that come against him, but of the Grace (or, special blessing, enabling) from above. To war in the spiritual realm requires a spiritual preparedness & spiritual empowering. And in Christ Jesus, Timothy would know this enabling & to endure ( 2 Timothy 2:3-5). Timothy would face all types of situations as a leader, conflicts within & without - only spiritual strength through Christ will enable to confront them & deal wisely.

    1 Peter 5:10

    1 Peter 5:10

But the God of all grace, who hath called us unto his eternal glory by Christ Jesus, after that ye have suffered a while, make you perfect, stablish, strengthen, settle you.

Be patient, beloved, God will put you through trials in order to perfect you, but He does it for your own good because He loves you.

I do not agree with textual critics who refuse to believe God has preserved His words through the ages we now have translated in the KJV. I don't subscribe to the idea that the Apocrypha was preserved by God, the Sinaiticus was preserved by God, the Vaticanus was preserved by God, and so forth.

Get out of yourself by " Action" doing for those in need. It's what helps me. If you do things already, do more and more. You can say you live your neighbour, but what have you done to show. Like James states faith without works is dead. God judges us on our actions, he knows our intentions and our hearts. When you feel like that you are playing God. God Bless

Hello Ms. Jackson. If I may consider the second part of your comment first, i.e."I struggle loving myself and consider myself an individual not deserving of God's mercies & graces." "Loving myself" can mean different things to different people. To one, it may mean a lack of self-esteem, often shying away from people. To another, the opposite: believing they're God's Gift to the world, or the world revolves around them. And yet to another, meeting the needs of one's body, mind, emotions, & spirit. If your 'loving yourself, is only confined to 'feeling undeserving of God's Mercies', then you're not alone; if we truly believe that we have sinned & grieved God by our selfish sinful ways & are deserving of nothing but His Anger & Retribution, then that 'feeling' is warranted & given by the Holy Spirit. And yet, we continue to 'love' ourselves by giving due care to our bodies, not only for survival but also for enjoyment of this God-given life.

However, if you have a sense of 'low esteem', then that can arise from a genetic disposition, or even from forces you've faced in your earlier years. I tend to have this sense of having a low regard, not seeing anything of worth about me that would make me of even the slightest value to another person. And yet I know, that in God's Sight, I'm precious, for He has not only sent His Son to pay for the sins of all mankind, but also identified me as one to receive this great blessing of redemption & being fully accepted by Him.

And when I truly understand & believe what has taken place in me by God, my response to Him can only be of real joy & desire to worship Him, please Him, & share His Love with those who would give ear to His Words: 'a devotion with my whole being', as you wrote. And with such love in your heart towards God, with His Holy Spirit continually energizing you produce holy 'fruit' in your life, that love will be manifested also to 'your neighbour'. Let the Spirit work in you to bring out His Fruit of Love to all.

Maybe I can't answer your questions but I will share the following truth.

In 2016 I was hit head-on, on my motorcycle. Ejected into windshield and landed about 60 feet away. Shortly after, at some point, left my body. Went to the light. The feelings there were unlike anything flesh can imagine. Unfathomable love, peace and joy. Just as I began to approach the threshold a voice coming from every direction, from inside of me and that seemed to be everything in existence stopped me. This voice was commanding yet calm and loving. I was given an instruction to which I responded, "I don't want to." Immediately, through(in front of) the light He appeared draped in white. Yet, he was the light. He showed Himself to me but I was not allowed to see Him directly or to see His face. But I will tell you, with certainty, that there was NO doubt who this was. He was that visible. He said 5 words to me and everything that happened to take me there, now went backward. Or in reverse. I woke in a hospital bed paralyzed with tubes coming from my body. A nurse was standing at the foot of my bed and asked "who were you talking to." My response was "to the man standing beside me." He was 1 foot from my bed rails but I could only see his white raiment. Nothing more. She said "honey noone is there." I looked and He was gone. I told noone about this for years. Possibly a decade.

Take this for what you will. It is truth. It happened.

I was an undeserving, prideful and sinful man full of blasphemy, hatred and immoral actions. I now spend every day of my life praising and serving the Father.

I am brought to tears by the Holy Spirit almost daily at the most random times. Still proclaiming my unworthiness.

Lazarus was pulled from the grave.

May God Bless all of you.

In addition; I would say that only the covenant of grace through the blood atonement of Christ was able to supercede that of the old laws and statutes. As far as any other covenants; i.e. marriage and national promises it is clear that they are for a lifetime; or eternal based on what God ordained; but also coming at the voluntary response of the people such as at Mt. Sinai and whenever the Lord spoke through kings and prophets. There are some covenants involving other nations that Israel made (such as the Gibeonites) that were to be maintained. This principal as far as I read scripture also applies for other vows made by man as well invoking the name of God.

In general; I am trying to read what a passage says; connect it to other scriptures; then study how it ties into God's character with covenants; etc. We can see many evidences of grace even in the O.T.; and Christ is the fulfillment of the law; etc. I don't want to ignore the fact that we are under grace now; and not under the law; but also don't want to myopically apply the principles in Romans beyond where it was originally intended.

    Hope that helps..Rich P (Agape)
  • Richard H Priday - In Reply on Esther 7 - 3 years ago
I am not sure how you say Esther "broke the law" unless you are referring to her walking into the inner court. This was a necessary sacrifice of her life if necessary to save her people.

As to Vashti; I am not sure what to say as to your concept. I am looking as I have in much of scripture to the covenant of marriage; and its sanctity; which crosses over dispensations and was instituted by God in the garden. So I was looking at a societal attitude not focusing on law and grace. I can't say how much emphasis should be placed on finding evidences of the old law and grace; hopefully it is not at the expense of the coherency of the whole word of God. On one hand; Christ did say that not "one jot nor tittle" shall be changed as long as heaven and earth exist as to God's law ( Matthew 5:17-20). Of course no one is saved by the law and we all have fallen short. Sometimes though; I think there is too much emphasis on that; and not enough of our obedience to general admonitions which we CAN follow; but only when we are led by the Spirit; or in O.T. times truly saved. In other words; general apostasy causes our minds to darken; and for our souls to desensitize to the promptings of the Spirit. We are led astray; then increase in sin because we don't fear God; nor trust His words about our sin NATURE; how we as sheep are prone to stray. Just ranting a bit here...

My other point; as stated previously is that God isn't mentioned nor does it have to be in order to get the idea of the "noble woman" (as illustrated in Proverbs 31; for instance). Sometimes; I think people tend to have a "religious" mindset at the expense of knowing God (i.e. they know a lot of His doctrines but not His ways). I am drilling home the everlasting principle of His covenants in scripture; as it took me only until recently to discover how much is in the Word related to that.

How can I Love God with a holistic devotion with my whole being, love my neighbor as myself, when I struggle loving myself and consider myself an individual not deserving of God's mercies & graces?
  • Richard H Priday on Job 14 - 3 years ago
There are great truths here in Job; proported to be the oldest narrative in scripture; largely held to be written by Moses. The subject of the afterlife is in great detail here. The perspective of the soul leaving the body after death (v. 10); and the concept of sheol are mentioned. In his compromised state; Job is convinced; it seems that he has no hope as those who would go to the place of torment; it would seem. In reality; since he was a man of God he would be where Lazarus went; a place of comfort or "Abraham's bosom" in the paradise section. Instead; Job sees his transgressions as it were sealed up (v. 17); and his flesh having pain; and his soul within him mourn AFTER death; it would appear after he is "sent away" v. 20. This looks much like the land of darkness and chaos in Job 12:25; and verse 24 is much like Ezekiel in description of the kings in the underworld as well. Verse 14 and 15 give a hope of his "change" and for the wrath to be past in v. 13 is similar to Daniel speaking of the Resurrection after the time of Jacob's trouble. Whether the O.T. saints are resurrected after the rapture of the church; and such timing is too much to get into here.

Job later states that in his flesh; he shall see God ( Job 19:26).

In these passages; declarations of truth during unbearable suffering give a lesson for saints today to do the same. This also was the case when Christ was suffering before His glorious resurrection. Trust in God must override everything else; for He is faithful; even when we are not.

yes, Kay, with 2 surgeries this week, I'll be spending lots of time in my recliner with my hand and foot elevated, But, since both

needed to be done and covid delayed when I could schedule surgery, I wanted to get them done asap and recovery from both

together so that I won't recover from one and then have the other surgery and more time to recover from the second. I have

help at home and hopefully will be up and around in 3-4 weeks.

I am thankful for the prayers and the skill of the doctors. Imagine what people endured in times past before such treatments

    were known.

I just give this time up to God and will see what He does in me as my body heals.

    Hi Pammypoo...

1 Corinthians3:16,17 comes to my mind with things such as smoking.

16 Know ye not that ye are the temple of God, and that the Spirit of God dwelleth in you?

17 If any man defile the temple of God, him shall God destroy; for the temple of God is holy, which temple ye are.

If we are born again, the Blessed Spirit of God indwells us. WE are His dwelling place, and where He is, it follows that we would want to keep our house separate unto Him.

We know smoking is unhealthy for our bodies; it is addictive; we also now know that second-hand smoke harms others; and smoking is VERY expensive and a big waste of money. Buying cigarettes, which are so harmful, is bad stewardship of health and finances!

There is no virtue in smoking! It is sinning against our own health and the health of those around us who have to inhale our fumes!

    I hope that this helps!

    Blessings!
