Do you believe that this Babylon referred to in Rev. 18 is the United States/ New York ? It seems the only entity in the world that fits the description. Also it is not referred to in end times scenarios.

Romans 1:26-27 : "Because of this, God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged natural relations for unnatural ones. In the same way the men also abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men, and received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion" (emphasis added). Clearly, this passage puts lesbianism on equal ground with male homosexuality. Lesbianism is described as women exchanging natural relations (with men) for unnatural relations (with women). According to the Bible, being a lesbian is just as sinful as being a homosexual male

    Hi Carleton,

Are you coming into Washington or into Oregon? Or crossing from eastern Washington to western Washington or the other way?

One of are favorite places is Hood River, Oregon.

I am doing well. Waiting for better weather to come this week so I can get back outside to finish the project we began a few weeks ago.

Thank you for thinking of me. Have a safe drive.

    Philip,

I'm not sure if you're asking a question here but here is my understanding of Revelation 4:5. This will be the expression of God's judgment whenever He judges. We see it throughout the book of Revelation. There will be lightnings and thunderings and sounds coming out from the throne.

And there were seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God. We saw these seven spirits back in Revelation 1:4. Revelation 5:6 will tell us that these seven spirits of God are the seven eyes of God going throughout the world. It is the seven fold complete ministry of the Holy Spirit held by the Jews and of course the scripture teaches that.

In Zechariah Chapters 4 and 10, it also tells us that the seven lamps are the seven eyes of the Lord, the all-seeing one. So before the throne, the seven lamps of fire burning before the throne, which are the seven spirits of God.

The seven churches in Revelation 1:4 were actual churches in that region in that day. So the Lord is giving messages specifically for these seven. But they are not the only churches in these areas.

It is kind of interesting that if you do a little digging, you will find that each one of these cities is the head of the postal district in that area. So these are the main cities within their districts.

And there are other churches around, but the Lord picked out seven. And again, each church has its own problems, and each church has its own good points.

But everybody's church today has some of these things in it. In fact, if you put them all together, you would have the complete seven messages to the church before Christ comes back.

It tells us in Revelation 1:20 that the seven stars are the seven angels of these 7 churches.

    Proverbs Chapter 5

1 My son, attend unto my wisdom, and bow thine ear to my understanding:

2 That thou mayest regard discretion, and that thy lips may keep knowledge.

3 For the lips of a strange woman drop as an honeycomb, and her mouth is smoother than oil:

4 But her end is bitter as wormwood, sharp as a twoedged sword.

5 Her feet go down to death; her steps take hold on hell.

6 Lest thou shouldest ponder the path of life, her ways are moveable, that thou canst not know them.

7 Hear me now therefore, O ye children, and depart not from the words of my mouth.

8 Remove thy way far from her, and come not nigh the door of her house:

9 Lest thou give thine honour unto others, and thy years unto the cruel:

    10 Lest strangers be filled with thy wealth; and thy labours be in the house of a stranger;

11 And thou mourn at the last, when thy flesh and thy body are consumed,

    12 And say, How have I hated instruction, and my heart despised reproof;

13 And have not obeyed the voice of my teachers, nor inclined mine ear to them that instructed me!

14 I was almost in all evil in the midst of the congregation and assembly.

15 Drink waters out of thine own cistern, and running waters out of thine own well.

16 Let thy fountains be dispersed abroad, and rivers of waters in the streets.

17 Let them be only thine own, and not strangers' with thee.

18 Let thy fountain be blessed: and rejoice with the wife of thy youth.

19 Let her be as the loving hind and pleasant roe; let her breasts satisfy thee at all times; and be thou ravished always with her love.

20 And why wilt thou, my son, be ravished with a strange woman, and embrace the bosom of a stranger?

21 For the ways of man are before the eyes of the LORD, and he pondereth all his goings.

22 His own iniquities shall take the wicked himself, and he shall be holden with the cords of his sins.

23 He shall die without instruction; and in the greatness of his folly he shall go astray.

That's for a married man or unwed

  • GiGi - In Reply on 2 Timothy 3 - 3 years ago
Hi Bianca, My suggestion as a former teacher would be to obtain copy of a Christian catechism that outlines the basic beliefs of the faith with Scripture references and teach him from these points. This way, he will be given a firm foundation for the faith he professes. 12 years old is a common age for those in denominations that do so to learn this in a Confirmation class which is intended to teach this foundation to "confirm" as true the faith they profess. If you cannot obtain a catechism, then look for a basic Christianity book such as John Stott has written and use this to guide you in presenting Scripture to your son. For young teens like him, I think it is better to teach this way than to work through books of the Bible. Most teens will become disinterested with such an approach because it does not present an overall view of the faith that is immediate within them.

That is why I suggest as I have. After teaching the foundations of faith from the Bible, then I would suggest reading and studying the gospels so he can learn more deeply who Jesus was when He lived His earthly life and what he was like and taught.

    There are degrees of punishment:

" For a fire is kindled in mine anger, and shall burn unto the lowest hell, and shall consume the earth with her increase, and set on fire the foundations of the mountains." Deuteronomy 32:22

" And that servant, which knew his lord's will, and prepared not himself, neither did according to his will, shall be beaten with many stripes. But he that knew not, and did commit things worthy of stripes, shall be beaten with few stripes. For unto whomsoever much is given, of him shall be much required: and to whom men have committed much, of him they will ask the more." Luke 12:47-48

" But I say unto you, It shall be more tolerable for Tyre and Sidon at the day of judgment, than for you." Matthew 11:22

" And the sea gave up the dead which were in it; and death and hell delivered up the dead which were in them: and they were judged every man according to their works." Revelation 20:13

    Hi Abisola,

There are a lot of estimations on what 'Selah' means, but the one that seems to have been the majority opinion is that it is a musical term indicating a pause, or rest. Thus, when psalmists wrote 'Selah' after a sentence - it is taken that they wanted their hearers or readers to pause and truly consider what was just said.

    I hope this helps!

    Blessings!

    Giannis,

Well said. He is our Father and also, in Jesus, our Lord, Savior, and also in the Holy Spirit, our Helper, Sanctifier, Comforter. If we are to know the names of our God from the Scriptures than we can address Him by these names according to our circumstances. In Exodus God told Moses that His name was I AM WHO I AM (YHWH) and that Abraham called Him Almighty God (El Shaddai). In both the Old Testament and New, He was called "God Most High". (Far above all other creatures) speaking of God's transcendent nature. I suggest that it is good to study these names to understand more about our God and to call to Him inprayer by these names.

    Dear Mary,

1 Thessalonians 5:22 says "Abstain from every kind of evil."

1 Corinthians 15:33 says "Bad company corrupts good character."

David should have refused to look upon Bathsheba bathing on the rooftop, since this lusting led to a series of serious sin.

The above Scriptures, if heeded, would keep many from falling into sin.

Hi, i would like to know which part of the bible is best to teach a 12yr old child with low attention span whom knows the basics of the beginning of the bible and hoping you can guide us through this learning experience. Thank you for your time!

    Sincerely yours, Bianca S.

Yes, Mary. It is believed that Jesus said these things to John and to His mother to indicate that they are to have a "mother/son" relationship where John ensures the care and support for Mary. Jesus entrusted to the other sons born to Mary who were not believers at that time. It seems that Mary followed Jesus as she was in the Upper Room congregation at Pentacost.

    Mishael,

Good to hear that you and those in this senior abode were spared! Many areas have had quite a bit of destruction from the tornadoes and these are moving to other areas today. So sorry to hear this is happening. I pray that God will spare lives during this weather system.

    Hi Marilyn,

I praise the Lord, Who saw fit to use my heart and keyboard :) to encourage you! I think sometimes, since 'eye has not seen, nor ear hear, nor has it entered into the heart of man what God has prepared for us' -we cling to what is past. If only the Lord will graciously give us eye salve to clear up our vision of the true glory ahead - we would never bother to look back! PRAISE THE LORD!!

    Many blessings, sweet sister!

Amen brother Marke, so many are deceived by this evil thing. I read of a TV Evangelist responding to the question of homosexuality in our society today. His answer, "I am evolving" This man has a very large ministry and contributes to TBN. The word of Gods speaks of a strong delusion that will come upon many, even the elect. I join you in prayer that the spirit of Gob will break these strong holds among these people in the name of Jesus amen.

Dear one "Wilbur Reid",in peace i totally agree with you. Rather God's Word than my own. You must then know that every word that is written will come true. But when you refer to Bible words that do not recur in your case, it is wrong, that to. It suited well for translators and scribes and deliver the words from: Revelation 22:18-19. Because then was the intention that Johannes himself would emphasize in what I write, nothing must be taken out. John specified it.

We know very well that much has been taken away from the Holy Scriptures. Which is a shame for the church.

"What is Christianity and what does God expect from Christians. Thank you so much we must never forgett what Jesus did at Calvary for us. And above all, His Spirit is with us as we live our lives. Then we have a hope of getting into the Heavenly housing.

Christian judgment: And all that that entails.

God expect from Christians That we preach about his Son Jesus Christ, live like Him and do good things for neighbors and do well to widows and fatherless. It also seems that we Christians must speak one word too much about Jesus! But He Himself doubts whether He will find any faith when He returns. Luke 18:8

    What does it say more in God's Word, among other things: 2 Timothy 4:3 For the time will come when they will not endure sound doctrine; but after their own lusts shall they heap to themselves teachers, having itching ears;

4 And they shall turn away their ears from the truth, and shall be turned unto fables.

5 But watch thou in all things, endure afflictions, do the work of an evangelist, make full proof of thy ministry.

So we must believe dear friend that everyone will do their best in handover. For on the fruits they should be felt:

Matthew 12:32-37 May the Lord Jesus Christ bless us all so that we all reach the goal. And keep faith and truth, light and life dear in our hearts. God bless us with His wisdom in a dark world. Love u in Christ.

Hi Ralph , just as we can't make a person gay , we can't make a person not be gay either . One thing I would say is that , when we become Christians many of us have to change our lifestyles in one way or another , that's very common I think . Please be aware , if you keep going on and on about it in a negative fashion you may push your daughter away from you completely and I think that would be a bad thing . God gave her to you and you to her . If she wants to be a truly commited Christian then she will recognise that her behaviour in this area is unacceptable and will change herself , with God's help . This will only happen by her building an intimate relationship with her God and her Saviour and recognising for herself that it's a change she needs to make . Potentially this could take a long time , years even . I know that it has taken me years to have the faith that I have now and i still need feeding ! You will have to continue to be a patient and loving Christian dad , always showing her the love of God . Pray every day for her but love her as she is . That's all you can do , if you push too hard before she is ready to accept the Truth you may push her away . She is your daughter because God wants her to be . Don't give up but don't push her away either , it's a balancing act .May God bless you and her .
