Hi Mishael, those are good ideas you shared. I have compassion for the homeless and like to offer food gift cards and like to listen to what they have to say. I usually ask them if they believe in God and see where that leads. I tend to be more of a listener compared to evangelists like Ray Comfort who lead the conversation and maybe even get aggressive at times. I think those in society who often feel ignored can feel validated if someone just cares by listening with interest in who they are as a person rather than go with an agenda to "change them" without even knowing them.

In general I find a high % of homeless believe in God compared to the general population, maybe because the general population doesn't yet think they "need" God. Many homeless have full trust that God will provide day by day. In a way it seems like I see way more signs of a healthy child-like faith in the ones who are the most destitute. In a way the sickest in society are those with many roots in earthly things and assume they are fine without God, not realizing they built their house on sand.

    Solascript,

i agree that the bible has never been about logic. Jesus has reasons for all he does he might have done differently that time for a reason the bible says we will never know the reasons for all God does but we do know that the difference in what you say doesn't matter because it is salvation that gets you to heaven not baptism.

    Dear Carol Ann

Jesus never sinned, so I do not think He was being disrespectful to His mother. He was most likely speaking to her in a way that was common in those times and it did not ring as rude then.
  • GiGi - In Reply - 3 years ago
To be honest, the words "biblical" and "unscriptural" are not written in the Word either, but we use many terms such as these and "Christian" "Christianity", "theology", etc. express our understanding of our God and His precepts. I'm sure that there are most likely a wide variety of words you or I or other believers use in discussing matters of our faith that our not in the Word. I think that the important thing if for us to speak to one another with words that we understand, being commonly used.

Perhaps it would help us understand you better if you can explain why you singled out these words (Christian, Christianity, Theology) to speak against.

Yesterday near where I live a tornado was headed in my direction-a little beyond Round Rock Tx.

I started to weep because everyone in my complex is older/elderly. I prayed for the storm to go back up in the clouds.

It stopped 1 mile from our senior complex!! Went up in the clouds and came back down 10 miles east of us.

    And a rainbow appeared.

I went back in the house and wept because God is so good!! Ask for what you need.

    LOVE your neighbors.

Yes. Alex, same with me, I am prayerful as to whether to post a comment or not because I certainly want to move in the Spirit and not in the flesh. I am doing well. thank you.

Everyone is welcome to read, ask questions or make comments.

This website has a great search engine for finding scriptures or ask it to find all the scriptures about a particular issue or person in the Bible.

The red page you came in here with has many links you can explore, read or study with.

You have to put a scripture in the SEARCH BOX to access the Commentary Box; just scroll downward a little.

You'll enjoy the Testimonies link; others have shared how they came to choose Jesus as Savior and Lord.

There is a link 'Become A Believer' that helps us with those first days after believing Jesus for our Salvation.

People from other countries visit this room too. It's a nice place to hang out, ask questions, offer answers and just share. Someone is always in these 2 rooms: Questions or Discussion. There are 300 days of past history you can view near the bottom of each room (1-100+) every day is different. We can agree, differ and see everyone's comments.

I tell all my elderly neighbors about it because sometimes they shelter and stay at home alone lots.

It's a good place to make new friends.

    Hi Deborah,

You will find this passage in Luke 19:40. "I tell you that if these should keep silent, the stones would immediately cry out." (NIV) This refers back to Hab. 2:11)

This Jesus said in response to the Pharisees told Jesus to rebuke his followers (disciples) when the multitude of disciples rejoiced and praised God when Jesus rode into Jerusalem on the colt. They said. "Blessed is the King who comes in the name of the LORD! Peace in heaven and glory in the highest!" ( Luke 19:37-38. This is also stated in Psalm 118:26, 2 Kings 9:13.

    Hope this helps.

Genesis 6:3 And the Lord said

    Not to Noah, as in ( Genesis 6:13 ) for, as yet, he is not taken notice of, or any discourse addressed to him; but rather to or within himself, he said what follows, or thus concluded, and resolved on in his own mind: my Spirit shall not always strive with man;

    meaning either the soul of man, called the Spirit of God, ( Job 27:3 ) because of his creation, and is what he breathes and puts into men, and therefore is styled the Father of spirits; and which is in man, as some in Aben Ezra observe to be the sense the word used, as a sword in the scabbard; and so the meaning is, it shall not always abide there, but be unsheathed and drawn out; man shall not live always, since he is corrupt, and given to carnal lusts: or else, as Jarchi thinks, God himself is meant, and that the sense is, my Spirit shall not always contend within myself; or there shall not always be contention within me concerning man, whether I shall destroy him, or have mercy on him; I am at a point to punish him, since he is wholly carnal: or rather this is to be understood of the Holy Spirit of God: ( 1 Peter 3:18-20) and to be thus interpreted; that the Spirit of God, which had been litigating and reasoning the point, as men do in a court of judicature, as the word signifies, with these men in the court, and at the bar of their own consciences, by one providence or by one minister or another, particularly by Noah, a preacher of righteousness, in vain, and to no purpose; therefore, God determines to proceed no longer in this way, but pass and execute the sentence of condemnation on them: for that he also is flesh;

not only carnal and corrupt, but sadly corrupted, and wholly given up to and immersed in sensual lusts and carnal pleasures, so as not to be restrained nor reformed; even the posterity of Seth, professors of religion also, as well as the profane world and posterity of Cain.

    And the Lord said

I don't know if the following helps you but i think that all the answers we need are provided by God in His Word .

By declaring God is my Lord we accept that He takes control of our lives AND give that control to Him. Nevertheless He wants us to keep asking for our needs until He answers as the widow in the parable of the unjust judge kept doing. LUKE 18: 1-7. bearing in mind MATHEW 6:33 which means that if we give priority to our spiritual needs then the Lord will fulfill our material needs and MATHEW 26:39 which means that sometimes God's plan for us maybe a bit different to our plans for ourselves and JAMES 4:3-4 which means that we don't ask for bad things or things like say winning the lottery or getting rich AND always have faith when asking MARK 11:22-26.

Those are few but ...actually a whole book can be written about asking and receiving from God

Genesis 24 is a love story of how Jacobs wife was brought to him. Abraham was old and he sent his servant (a type picture of the Holy Spirit.) In 24:3-9 the Servant makes an oath with Abraham. The servant prays all along this process to find the right wife.

I think you should read this story a few times to get the principals of thought.

We want to marry Gods choice for us. It could be, God will bring You-to his choice for you. Don't waste your time with men who are unbelievers #1

Ask God if that man can attend your church?

Anyone who is not saved is not a candidate.

Be patient, helpful, not a complainer, willing to water "his camels" :D

I really think when we can transfer all that anxiety upon Jesus-because he cares for us. Brighten your face with joy. This story ends with a marriage that succeeded.

Read it a few times to uncover the secrets to a happy marriage. What all did she do? She was doing exactly what the servant prayed she would do.

Give all those old memories to God. Commit your search to Him only. Be hopeful.

Keep coming back here ok? We're all friends and we can always use a new regular__and help undergird your faith

    Gill's Commentary of: 3 John 1:2

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper___ Or succeed in all temporal affairs, in the business of life, in which he was; and as success of this sort depends upon the blessing of God, which maketh rich, it is to be wished and prayed for from him:

and be in health; that is, of body, which above all things above all outward mercies, is the most desirable; for without this, what are the richest dainties, the largest possessions, or the best of friends? without this there can be no comfortable enjoyment of either of them; and therefore of this sort of mercies, it is in the first place, and above all others, to be wished for, and desired by one friend for another. The rule and measure of this wish is according to the prosperity of his soul,

even as thy soul prospereth: the soul is diseased with sin, and may be said to be in good health, when all its iniquities are forgiven; and may be said to prosper, when having a spiritual appetite for the Gospel, the sincere milk of the word, it feeds upon it, is nourished by it, and grows thereby; when it is in the lively exercise of faith, hope, and love; when spiritual knowledge is increased, or it grows in grace, and in the knowledge of Christ Jesus; when the inward man is renewed day by day with fresh strength; and when it enjoys communion with God, has the light of his countenance, and the joys of his salvation; and when it is fruitful in every good work.

Mishael: this would be a fine prayer to pray for yourself. This time in history, we need all of the Lords blessings working for us.

    What is Christianity?

Question: "What is Christianity and what does God expect from Christians?"

    Bible Answers

There are two parts to Christianity. The first is the journey to becoming a Christian and the second is living the Christian life.

False Answers and false theological concepts because there is no such thing about unbiblical or unscriptural word "Christianity" literally found and written in the King James Version Holy Bible Edition 1611.

    Deuteronomy 4:2 (KJV)

"Ye shall not add unto the word which I command you, neither shall ye diminish ought from it, that ye may keep the commandments of the LORD your God which I command you."

    Deuteronomy 12:32 (KJV)

"What thing soever I command you, observe to do it: thou shalt not add thereto, nor diminish from it."

    Proverbs 30:5-6 (KJV)

5 "Every word of God is pure: he is a shield unto them that put their trust in him."

6 "Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar."

    Matthew 4:4

"But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God."

    Revelation 22:18-19 (KJV)

18 "For I testify unto every man that heareth the words of the prophecy of this book, If any man shall add unto these things, God shall add unto him the plagues that are written in this book:"

19 "And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book."

The unscriptural word "Christianity" is not the mouth of God even as it is neither the word of God that is contradicted to the unscriptural word theology that is still not literally found and written in the King James Version Holy Bible Edition 1611 Period

Proverbs 16:7 When a man's ways please the LORD, he maketh even his enemies to be at peace with him.

Luke 16:16 The law and the prophets were until John: since that time the kingdom of God is preached, and every man presseth into it.

Galatians 3:24 Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.

Galatians 3:25 But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.

Proverbs 16:7 -- I have heard this quoted and applied as Gospel to everyday living. If it were so Jesus wouldn't have died and rose again. If it were so Peter and John wouldn't have been beaten.

Psalms 37:25 King David said I have never seen the righteous forsaken or Gods seed begging bread. Luke 16:21 And there was a certain beggar named Lazarus, which was laid at his gate, full of sores, --- David didn't lie (he said I) have never seen - But that wasn't gospel what Jesus said was.

Dear "Carol Ann Pallonetti", He was preoccupied with quite a lot other than worldly things when He was about to give up the Spirit. With Him was all wisdom from birth. He may not have recognized her at all. When He also meant that why do you grieve? You should know better!

I also think He is rude. But He probably also knew that after His death there will be doctrines and teachings that honor the Lord's mother. He might want to point out that Honor Me all of you, do not begin and honor my mother. Unfortunately, she probably only had one task. His thoughts are not like our thoughts. When He in the flesh could say so, and yet not mean it in a Spiritual way. I also think the Lord showed His carnal side in the question to His mother. Maybe she's pushing Him? God knows!

Have you ever woken up from anesthesia? And experienced pain hell. Then you are not properly sensed with yourself an ordinary human being either. Rather, think of what He went through here on earth. He even had to say to His disciples: How long shall I endure with you? Be happy that in His wounds we have been healed:

Isaiah 53:5 But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed.

    Ephesians 3.

Stay blessed in His Holy name Jesus, love u in Christ.

Dear "Erika Davis",there is no right recipe for this with faith and tradition. But know that the Lord always seeks to save you and yours. Now i do not want to seem superficial, but how long did Moses walk in the wilderness? Moses may have struggled with a guilty conscience. After all, he had killed a human being and escaped responsibility. We can not do that without being punished in some way. Innocents had to suffer from his decisions as well.

I am not saying that you have anything hidden now, but pointing out that it may be that the Lord will tell you something. Now when you are free. He want you to be free! Put everything on Him, pay tithing and stand up for the Lord's cause, what do you think? Look at it, feel it, try and visualize it. And be happy without complaining about what you have. Everything i write is available and read in the word of God.

    Ephesians 3.

Detach yourself dear friend from earthly bonds. So that you stand Upright in the Lord Jesus Christ, Amen. God bless us all in His time, and then we understand that Hi Is what He says He is.

Stay blessed in our forever Grace and Hope in Jesus Christ, and we dont loose our hope. :) Know that Jesus Love u.

Yes do it dear "Erika Davis", you will not regret a second!

A few years ago i made an apology to the Lord. Today i can not say this to Him. And the blessings come in turn, dear. I see the things happening around me that it is the Lord Jesus. Lord Jesus, take my heart i surrender everything to You, Amen.

Ephesians Chapter 3 God bless us all in Jesus Christ holy Name above all other names, Amen.

I believe you're looking at Hebrews 13:13 Manyele; "Let us go forth therefore unto him without the camp, bearing his reproach."

As you may know, the Letter to the Hebrews was written mainly for the Jews who turned away from Judaism & towards Christ. So we get many references to Jewish beliefs & practises, showing to these new believers how Jesus fulfilled the Scriptures & was God's perfect Sacrifice for them & all mankind. And here in Hebrews 13, we get another glimpse to this in verses 10 to 15.

As in the old days of sacrificing animals on the altar for the sins of the people, the Hebrews writer here speaks of the special sacrifice that was made on the Day of Atonement. On that day, the bullock & goat were sacrificed on the altar but only their blood was used for sprinkling on the Mercy Seat & horns of the Altar; the flesh of these animals were not eaten as in some other sacrifices, but were taken far away from the Tabernacle & their carcases burnt. You can read about this part in Leviticus chapter 16.

So in Hebrews 13, the writer states, that as the burnt offering was then taken outside the camp for complete burning, so too Jesus fulfilled this great Act of Atonement when He too was crucified outside Jerusalem, at Golgotha. And His Blood that was shed there, was pleasing to His Father (as was required with the animals' blood in the Tabernacle), showing that only through His Son's Blood & faith in His Sacrifice, would God accept those who come to Him.

Therefore, knowing what Christ did for us, & that there can be no fence-sitters or those looking at Jesus from afar (as Peter did in Matthew 26:58), the Hebrews writer urges the believers' complete identification & faithfulness to Jesus by joining Him 'outside the camp' - and if we do so, we too might suffer hatred as He did and we must do so gladly, for "here we have no continuing city, but we seek one to come"; that is, our citizenship is in Heaven. May we live this life with such a sure hope ( Philippians 3:20).

Hi dear "MoniqueJ", first of all: All the gifts of God are good. In Forgiveness, in the Lord's prayer, for example, we ask and leave our debtors. It is healing. And in the Light that has cast out all darkness, there is healing in it. Jesus Is the Light of the World. Imagine when the Apostles received the Holy Spirit on Pentecost: Acts 2:4, Ephesians 3:14-21 Then they all got a huge extra power. They all understood that. Jesus had said to them: Luke 9:1 Then he called his twelve disciples together, and gave them power and authority over all devils, and to cure diseases. It is not so of the human heart, but of the Holy Spirit who moved in by faith in Jesus.

Believe for your own sake, John 14:11 Believe me that I am in the Father, and the Father in me: or else believe me for the very works' sake.

12 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me, the works that I do shall he do also; and greater works than these shall he do; because I go unto my Father.

Imagine the grace we have experienced and begin to know the Lord here on Earth! It constantly overwhelms me
