In Genesis chapters 12 to 50, there is only one Covenant, that God made with Abram.

Genesis 12:1-3, the Covenant made. But of this Covenant, several 'expansions' to it were made to fully express it. And they are:

Genesis 15:18, God ratifies that Covenant in a national perspective.

Genesis 17:4-6,16, God ratifies that Covenant in an international perspective.

Genesis 17:7, God ratifies that Covenant as an Everlasting Covenant.

Genesis 17:10-14, God ratifies that Covenant by an act of circumcision (also in Stephen's message in Acts 7:8).

So, if you're thinking of these 'aspects' of the Covenant, then one can see & appreciate several Covenants. However, I believe most would deduce that only one Covenant was made with Abram, which composed of these four separate parts of the One.

Verses 1 through 12 indicate covenant blessings for obedience; but the section 13 through 43 are almost 3 times longer where there are warnings of cursing for disobedience. Notwithstanding; there are promises in the last three verses that the covenant would still remain UNbroken (v. 44); and that the ancient promises would still be ultimately remembered. God according to Christ "chastises everyone He loves." ( Heb. 12:6). This can be in regard to an individual; but also the promises ultimately mentioned in Romans to the Jews who are now "blind in part" ( Romans 11:25) until the "full number of Gentiles has come in." This could refer to the Rapture as many commentators suggest; but the full supplication will not occur until around the time of Armageddon when they shall "mourn for the One they pierced" ( Zech. 12:10).

We do well as a nation to study these verses on Israel. In some sense; we are still held under the statement "I will bless those who bless you, and whoever curses you I will curse; and all the peoples on earth will be blessed through you." ( Gen. 12:3). God judges the nations as He pleases (and does all things as He pleases according to Psalm 115:3; 135:6-etc.) All calamities are at least indirectly related to sin; whether our own personal ones; or society at large in a fallen world. We can't always attribute a particular event as a proof of this; however; as Christ's comment on the falling of the tower of Siloam and the blood mixed with the sacrifices indicated in Luke 13:4. There are plenty of things here and in Deuteronomy; however which are usually specific toward Israel; then directed toward other nations in later prophetic scriptures when the end comes such as Isaiah; Jeremiah; and Daniel. This; of course reaches its climax in Revelation. Once again; we see the importance of covenants. We have eternal promises that He will remain with us forever in the New Testament; provided of course that He has chosen us and evidence of good fruit

The Israel firsters claim that Israel will live forever. They are on YT spilling their nonsense. These people don't read the Bible, and even if they did, they would make up their own minds to spin the results in Israel's favor. Tell them what will happen, that Israel will be invaded, and they don't believe God would do that to them. Won't the proud be surprised when fitted with color and chain.

First of all it is extremely important to see how 1 Peter 3:19-20 fits with the overall themes of the first 3 chapters of 1 Peter and especially the theme Peter is giving instructions about just prior to giving his audience this revelatory information to understand how this information was intended to benefit them. We should be cautious in drawing interpretations from these two verses that make them sources of pure speculation in support of doctrines that have nothing to do with Peter's reason for including them with the instruction and exhortation he is giving his audience.

1 Pet 1:6-7 makes it clear these Christians are in a season of being tempted and tried by persecution. The first three chapters give numerous encouragements and exhortations to perseverance in both character and faith in Christ. They connect the rejection these believers were facing with the rejection Christ endured and their need to show the same purity of character and patience Christ showed in the face of false accusations. They are warned against practicing the deeds they are being accused of or that their accusers do, since suffering for that is not blessed but rather is deserved, but suffering as Christ did is blessed and will be vindicated.

The vindication of the sufferings of Christ and those who believe in Him and the long-suffering patience of God in withholding His judgement on the deserving disobedient until the appointed time are all in view in 1 Pet 3:19-20. All of it is like the time of Noah, when wicked men brought on God's judgement, but Noah had to maintain both His character and his faith in preparing the Arc while they mocked and spoke evil of Him, prompted by demonic activity, until Noah's salvation was ready and God sent the flood.

The spirits imprisoned as a result of the flood are either the disobedient men or demons of Noah's time. I'm fine either way. Christ, quickened by the Spirit, preached to them (God's full vindication) after He died and before He rose.

Yes, Gog and Magog are people who migrated northward to the far north of Israel, which would be Russia. Meshech and Tubal are people who settled in the area north of the Black Sea, today's Ukraine, southern Russia and Georgia. Gog is identified as the son of Rosh, which is now Russia. These peoples are descended from Japheth (Noah's son)

Ezekiel 38 and 39 speak about these peoples who come against Israel in war.

David's life was quite complex . He sinned more than once and even though God forgave him , there were still consequences that had to b endured . Because David failed to apply the law correctly when his son Amnon raped his daughter Tamar , this gave occasion for all of Israel including Absalom who was Tamar's brother , to speak against David . And my guess is that they did , Absalom was handsome and he had a just cause in the case of his sister . The seeds were sown hear . It's all very much typical human behaviour . If u have laws then they should b for everyone and should always b applied perfectly . There was no place for forgiveness in the law of Moses . David , as a type of Christ , points to the new covenant of forgiveness in Christ . David is forgiven for his sin regarding Bathsheba and her husband , David forgives his son Amnon but fails to take into account that Absalom and many others probably wanted the law to be applied properly . This is what happens when we try to mix the two covenants , it gets complicated . If we r for the law then we must b for all the law and stick to them all perfectly . We can't pick and choose which laws we r happy with and which we feel like ignoring , or we end up in the same kind of mess that David did . Christ is our righteousness . If righteousness could b achieved under the law then we wouldn't have any need for Christ . He would have died a pointless death .

Isaiah 53, Luke 1, Luke 2, Luke 3, whole chapters

    Zechariah 13:6,

My question back, is why does she feel this way? anti-Semitic thought sometimes were thought because of the crucifixion. Sometimes for love towards Jesus & sad for His suffering, If someone doesn't read deeper to see Jesus came to his own, wounded by his own. For all mankind & HE forgave even them. John 4:9, Luke 23:34, Luke 6:37, Romans 1:16,

Other good scriptures were given by other answers.

It may be a good start to find out why it's important to her to believe that. Finding the root, sometimes helps better answer questions.

John 3, if you read in context John 3:3, John 3:15-21,

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Hi Bonnie,

The words Jew and Gentile; The word Gentile used from Hebrew goy and nokhri and Greek thn. Gentile is derived from the Latin word gentilis, meaning belonging to a clan, a family, a nation, and people, and even those not Roman citizens. In both Hebrew and Greek, there is no word even approaching the way Gentile is used today. In the bible, the same Hebrew word was translated nations, heathen, Gentiles, and people, and the Greek word was translated the same even when it is about the Israelites.

The term Jew did not even appear until the southern kingdom of Judah was taken captive to Babylon. Jew is an abbreviated slang term for Judahite, a resident of the southern kingdom of Judah. I have heard people refer to Abraham as a Jew and the Israelites in Egypt before the exodus as Jews. All who are of the Jewish religion are not jews as is thought today.

We see in Revelation 2:9 and Revelation 3:9 Jesus does not care for those who call themselves Jews when they are not. Jesus came from the tribe of Judah Isaiah 11:1-10 2 Timothy.2:8 Revelation 5:5. Jesus is our high priest not from the tribe of Levi but of the tribe of Judah, Hebrews 7:11-15. From the tribe of Judah, our Lord's new high priesthood signals a change from the Old to the New Covenant, a new order.

Some argue that under Mosaic law, tribal affiliation is through the birth father only. There is one case we can see in Numbers 27:4-8 if Mary had no brothers her father's inheritance would pass to her. Jesus through her will be counted of the tribe of Judah. If we cannot accept Jesus being from the tribe of Judah, we cannot accept Him as our savior who gave His life for us.

There is more but may this help.

    God bless,

    RLW

Hello Ruth, Nice to meet you here.

This verse has been the topic of many discussions on this site. My suggestion is for you to google the question and read from some reputable Christian sites say about this. These articles usually site 3 or 4 meanings for this verse. If you truly want to understand this verse about being born anew, I think it is important to discover what has been taught since the beginning of the church age up to now.

In my research, the early church fathers of the first few centuries interpreted this passage as referring to water baptism being the means of being born of water and the spirit. This view speaks of being cleansed from sin through repentance and of our sins being "washed" away (in the spiritual sense) by the waters of baptism, which indicates a total cleansing from sin and by being a new creation by the work of the Holy Spirit who regenerates us. The early church fathers viewed that being born anew by water and the spirit as concurring simultaneously in water baptism. This was the view of the church from the 1st century up to the times after the Reformation in the 1500's when various sects began to promulgate the other views you will find in your research and the in the replies to you question on this site.

I do not wish to promote my view on this here, so I won't. But I did want to the historical viewpoint from the church age and refer you to research further on this on various Christian sites. these sites give good explanations citing Scripture, which I think is always good.

    The Lamb and the 144,000

14:1 they sang a new song before the throne and before the four living creatures and the elders, and no one was able to master that song except the 144,000, who have been bought from the earth.

Revelation 5:9 And they sing a new song, saying: "You are worthy to take the scroll and open its seals, for you were slaughtered and with your blood you bought people for God out of every tribe and tongue and people and nation, 10 and you made them to be a kingdom and priests to our God,e and they are to rule as kings over the earth.
  • Richard H Priday on Leviticus 24 - 3 years ago
Leviticus chapter 24 seems to have a narrative in the first 9 verses on the perpetuity of the fire of God with a sudden interruption based on the Israelite woman's son and his blasphemy toward God. Whether there was an intended break in the scroll; or not this is how it appears in KJV.

One could say that the eternal consequences for the law; in regard to the "unforgiveable sin" which is tied in with blasphemy in the N.T. of the Holy Spirit is the opposite of the perpetual light of God's people; bringing the lost to eternal punishment. There are a few other reminders here of "an eye for an eye; tooth for tooth" in verse 20; etc. God has laws of a death penalty which don't have to be looked at as mutually exclusive to Grace. It is unlikely from the event that this man asked for the God of Israel to forgive his sins with his soul about to head to eternity; although technically it is only the reaction to the Holy Spirit; not toward God or Christ that is unforgiveable again, according to Christ. We have to consider a nation or society under the governing powers that the Lord has asked us to be submissive to; whenever a choice doesn't have to be made to disobey God in order to be obedient to those in authority. When we look to the value of a human life; and the importance of a person's property or possessions a full restitution still holds as I see it. Those who stole; for instance are said to need to be providers; as the N.T. states.

It should be noted that blasphemy was to include both the native born (as in this case) AND the stranger as to the punishment of death. (v. 16). As far as being put outside the camp; that is where Christ became a curse for us. We realize that we have all in a sense cursed God and been enemies of God before salvation.

Moses did not give credit to Jehovah for the water that came from the rock when Moses struck it. In his anger, he said something like what do I have to do. Took credit.

Moses will be put back on earth in the near future when the resurrection occur.

Bonnie Jesus cd not be Jewish...The lamb of God cd NOT have any spot or stain of ADAM...Thats y he told the Jews you are from beneath but i am FROM ABOVE,..You are of this world but i am not of this world... Acts 20 : 28....Feed the Church of God that he has purched with his OWN BLOOD...During gestation a womans plasenta keeps the fetus's blood and the woman blood separated'...There are nutrients that are passed to the fetus and visa versa..But neva the BLOOD...Jesus was the LIVING Word made flesh and blood...Thats y David said ITS THE LORD DOINGS AND IS PRECIOUS IN OUR EYES...It was not of any man thus it had to be a virgin birth...God didn't want any man to have a part in this...Had Jesus been Jewish he wd have to had been bornagain of an incorrupptible seed just like us humans...But the truth is he was that incorruptible seed that God wants to be planted in humanity...Jesus was simply the LIVING WORD ( GOD ) made flesh and blood...Now Mary was Jewish but she was just a vessel...And he was made of a woman ( MARY ) She carried him 9 mos....But he was not Jewish...How cd he be JEWISH WITHOUT A JEWISH FATHER....He was an absolute Son...Thats y the Father instructs all the Angels to WORSHIP HIM.
