In verse 12 God tells Moses He will execute judgment on all of the gods of Egypt. The Egyptian god for life was Osiris, the great god to the Egyptians. In this final plague God will show Himself supreme over even Osiris, having power over life and death.
Moses instructs the Israelites precisely what they were to do to be passed over by the agents of death sent by God. Obedience was necessary for any Israelite to be spared from death. They were to make unleavened bread for one meal. A lamb selected and slaughtered at midnight (when the plague of death began). They were to use hyssop to spread the blood of the lamb upon the doorposts and lintel. The lamb was to be roasted whole with it's innards intact and no bones are to be broken. It was to be eaten with bitter herbs in haste. The lamb was be consumed completely that night with none left for the next day. They were to be girded up, packed up, staff in hand ready to flee at the command of Moses. They were to stay in their houses until Moses' command came for them to flee in haste.
And thus, at midnight the destroyer came upon Egypt and first born Egyptians and beasts began to be killed. In the middle of the night, Pharaoh arises, hearing the loud crying of his people, servants. He must have discovered that his firstborn had been killed, too. He immediately summoned Moses and Aaron, and they came to Pharoah during the night. Pharaoh commands Moses and Aaron to leave immediately with the Israelites and livestock
Not sure you will see this but one question, it says they will be partakers of the Holy Spirit. Does this mean they have received the Holy Spirit? My assumption is yes. So they were believers? Thank you
In this chapter of Exodus, God speaks to Moses, telling him that He will send one more plague upon Egypt, the plague of death. Every firstborn child and animal of the Egyptians will die. God does not say that Pharaoh heart will be further hardened. No, God says that Pharaoh will, indeed, release the Israelites to leave Egypt.
God instructs Moses to tell the Israelites to ask their Egyptian neighbors to give them gold and silver articles. God gave the Israelites favor in the eyes of the Egyptians. The Egyptians probably finally realized that Israel's God had brought on all of these terrible plagues, so to appease the Israelites and their God, the Egyptians were willing to part with whatever the Israelites asked of them. I think the term favor here indicates respect and fear rather than congeniality. The Egyptians also held up Moses as one with great authority, perhaps rivaling even the Pharaoh. The people wanted to please Moses even if Pharaoh did not.
Next, Moses addresses the Israelites, telling them that the plague of death will come that night at midnight, but the Israelites will be saved from death. God was going to draw a clear line in the sand between the Egyptians and Israelites, punishing one and blessing the other.
As a result of all of these plagues, but especially the plague of death, the Egyptians will bow down on their knees will beg Moses to take the Israelites out of Egypt. Thus, God sets the stage of the Egyptians being convinced that the Israelites must be forced to leave Egypt and the Israelites being convinced that God has a better life for them than in Egypt. The Israelites now knew by the wonders done by God through Moses, that their God was with them, for them, and mighty to bring them out of slavery back into the land promised to their forefathers. It was probably likely that the Israelites had forgotten God through the years of slavery or given up on Him being able to deliver them. they needed convincing.
Enoch
Genesis 5:21-22
Hebrews 11:5-6
Jude 1:14-15
Noah
Genesis 6:1 through Genesis 9:29
Matthew 24:37-39
Luke 17:26-30
Hebrews 11:7
1 Peter 3:19-20
2 Peter 2:5
2 Peter 3:3-7
Whether or not a person acknowledges it, Enoch and Noah are fathers to every man, woman and child living today. However, without saving faith they will only be fathers according to the flesh to our generation. That genetic relationship will be undeniably proven before God, but it will not only profit us nothing, it will actually make anyone in our generation more guilty than the people in theirs if they mock or ignore the testimony concerning them in these last days without repenting and believing in Jesus Christ as they did. We need to carefully consider and draw both encouragement and warning from their examples of faith if we want to share any of the benefits of the heritage they have left us.
Jesus Christ is the one who will catch us up to be with Him, like He did Enoch, if we are confirmed by the Holy Spirit to be those who please Him and His Father. He is also the unexpected Bridegroom who will close the wedding feast door that lets in the prepared wise virgins but shuts out the unprepared foolish virgins where there is weeping and gnashing of teeth, like He closed the door of the Ark that Noah prepared behind him and his household, shutting out those who were unprepared outside.
Although no one should count on it, if in His grace the Father continues to patiently wait beyond our short lives to send Christ with His holy angels for the final harvest, we still must hold to the fear of the LORD we see in these two ancestors of ours and uphold their testimony so that we may be partakers with them in the pleasure the Father has in their faith and the faith of all those mentioned in this chapter of Hebrews. That is one of the ways we will be able to add our own testimony of faith to theirs.
According to scripture, there seems to be a downfall to every country for one reason or another.
God bless.
I believe the Lord hardened Pharoahs heart bringing out what was in him. In Acts 7:18. Stephen states "Till ANOTHER king arose, which knew not Joseph." I've heard the word another being used here suggests a different type in the Greek. There is 2 words used for "another" in the Greek. One is when you want another of the same and the other is one of a different kind. the second is used here. This Pharoah might have been an Assyrian.
Isaiah 52:4. For thus saith the Lord GOD, My people went down aforetime into Egypt to sojourn there; and the ASSYRIAN oppressed them without cause.
God Magnified his Great name YHWH in Egypt and all the World feard the God of Israel as he will do again in the latter days.
Ezekiel 38:22-23. And I will plead against him with pestilence and with blood; and I will rain upon him, and upon his bands, and upon the many people that are with him, an overflowing rain, and great hailstones, fire, and brimstone.
Thus will I magnify myself, and sanctify myself; and I will be known in the eyes of many nations, and they shall know that I am the LORD.
Jeremiah 16:13-15.
Jeremiah 23:6-8.
Thank you and
God bless.
Great work.
It seems coincidental or strategic how the second in order ( going against the norm.) would be what seems to be where the blessings are.
Start with the first Adam and second Adam. The births throughout the patriots. Ishmael and Issac. Jacob and Essau. Ephraim and Manasseh. we have the 2 covenants, and the flesh and the spirit.
Thank you and God bless.
Who are these 2 boys today?
Part 2 of 2.
So we see in part 1, There's a distinction in #1) "a Jew in Christ," where there is no difference between them and a Gentile in Christ. Romans 10:12."
and #2) "National Israel."
That distinction of the 2 is embodied in the text in
Romans 9:6. ( All Israel is not Israel.
Romans 11:5. ( A remnant.)
Romans 11:7. ( the election.)
and
Romans 11:17. ( And if SOME of the branches be broken off,)
Brother Dan I leave off with this.
Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.
Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.
For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.
Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.
For we through the Spirit wait for the hope of righteousness by faith.
For in Jesus Christ neither circumcision availeth any thing, nor uncircumcision; but faith which worketh by love. Galatians 5:1-6.
God bless you.
Pt. 1
What I think is being missed in Galatians 3:29. Is that it actually says the opposite of the way you take it.
It says "you are Abraham's seed, and heirs, ""ACCORDING TO THE PROMISE"". Not law!! and not nationality.
The Promise spoken of here, "the covenant of God in Christ" was given to Abraham 430 years before the Law. Galatians 3:17. and before Israel was a nation.
So Galatians. 3:29. Is not saying you are Israelites it's saying you are children of Promise as we see in Galatians 4:28. Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
I think the confusion is when often you call members of the church Israelites citing Galatians 3:29. and
Romans 2:29.
But you must consider
Galatians 3:28. "THERE IS NEITHER JEW NOR GREEK, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: FOR YE ARE ALL ONE IN CHRIST JESUS."
So when you revisit Romans 9 and take on Romans 9:6-8. "Not as though the word of God hath taken none effect. For they are not all Israel, which are of Israel:
Neither, because they are the seed of Abraham, are they all children: but, In Isaac shall thy seed be called.
That is, THEY WHICH ARE THE CHILDREN OF THE FLESH, THESE ARE NOT THE CHILDREN OF GOD: "but the children of the promise are counted for the seed."
This is not making a distinction between Ishmael and Issac.
It's a distinction between
1) National Israel "The broken off branch who were blinded and who you are attempting to be grafted into " and 2) Messianic Israel who's joint members of the Church and children of the promise.
Have you noticed they all weren't broken off?
Romans 11:17. AND "IF SOME" OF THE BRANCHES BE BROKEN OFF, and thou, being a wild olive tree, wert graffed in among them, and with them partakest of the root and fatness of the olive tree;
Romans 11:7. What then? Israel hath not obtained that which he seeketh for; BUT THE ELECTION HATH OBTAINED IT, and the rest were blinded
Here's why they're broken off.
Romans 9:31-32.
c pt2
It is also interesting that this whole possession of the land and flocks and possessions of Israel would eventually lead them to forced servitude and bondage owning nothing for themselves. In short; they sort of set themselves up for what eventually went down hundreds of years later. This of course was all prophesied earlier to Abraham.
The fact that Jacob in the previous chapter mentions to Pharoah that his days were shorter despite being well over 100 than the other patriarchs; there is once again validity to the much advanced age of death going back closer to the time of Noah; who produced all living since the flood; and of course the same pattern holds true back to Adam.
It appears that Jacob's agreement with Laban not to marry anyone else also held true. The fact that he went back to the place where he first trusted in God and put an altar there and his whole life shows great faith and God's chastisement to teach him lessons. Despite his son Joseph's seemingly boastful dreams the father kept it to heart. Truly father and son were greatly blessed; despite what the enemy surely tried to mean for good-the blessing of the Lord prevailed to accomplish His purposes. Opposition would later allow Moses to trust God for Israel's great deliverance from Egypt and Pharaoh and to finally conquer the Promised Land (at least in part).
It is also interesting seeing the disingenuous gleeful response that Laban showed Jacob in verse 13 and 14. He had learned something; of God's blessings with Isaac earlier and Rebecca. It was his own gain; however which motivated him; much like with Jacob's manipulations. He started a pay arrangement after a month; and interestingly it was Jacob himself who decided to make the terms of marriage as far as the length of servitude of seven years; surely he could have requested her sooner. Then; of course came the "coup de gras" as it were; apparently he didn't see anything with the overnight consummation of the marriage; this shows how little he cared not to at least want to see her face to face but instead being smitten by external beauty. Thus; Laban had the upper hand and stuck him for another seven years for Rachel. The Lord had the final say here to demonstrate to Jacob that he was going to bless the woman who Jacob despised for fleshly reasons; by blessing her with children. It would take some time for Rachel later on to catch up. Again; a covenant of marriage no matter how informal the ceremony was still an arrangement recognized by God and Jacob had to deal with it. It would appear that both marriages were accepted by the Lord; but clearly contention and strife resulted from such arrangements. In all this; of course God's purposes for the tribes which would be the patriarchs of Israel were fulfilled.
Isaac always favored Esau; but Divine Providence determined from the beginning that the "elder would serve the younger." Whether Isaac was privy to the information the Lord gave Rebekkah on this when she was pregnant is unknown; as also is the reason it was revealed to her by the Lord and not (as far as we know) to Isaac. At any rate; Isaac simply did what he thought was appropriate for Esau; and it seems that there was some supernatural covenental event that transpired when such blessings were given; or alternatively; the Holy Spirit somehow intervened (as we see with the declarations regarding the nation of Israel as a whole upon the death of Moses; for instance). Once that binding event occured; the real Esau incurred what was previously predicted to Rebekkah; namely subjugation until a certain time when he and or his descendants would overthrow the authority determined to rule over him. This demonstrates the intention of Isaac through the deception was overthrown according to God's will; it does NOT justify the sneaky tactics his wife did in this case; nor the manipulation Jacob incurred with the earlier pottage incident to get what he wanted.
Therefore; the results were Jacob running for his life; and not coincidentally to Laban where he would be manipulated much in the same way as he had done previously; being tricked after seven years servitude to marry Leah; then working another seven years for Rachel.
In the process; the positive aspect of the tenacity of Jacob was shown with the wrestling and contending with the Angel of God (probably Christ); and amazingly prevailing.
Moses and Aaron were forced to leave Pharaoh's presence. Moses stretched out his hands and rod and the locusts came. Senehem was the Egyptian god of protction froem locusts. In this plague, it was shown that Senehem was worthless and powerless to prevent the locust from coming or from totally destroying vegetation in the land. They came in on the east wind God stirred up and devoured every green plant. The number of locusts was so vast and severe that it is said that it is the worst swarm ever. There were so many that the land was darkened by the swarm as they flew in.
Pharaoh was greatly concerned and called Moses and Aaron to appear before him right away. He again admits that he had sinned against the LORD, God of the Israelites, even asking for forgiveness this once and spare him from death, begging Moses to entreat the LORD on his behalf to end this plague. So,Moses went out and entreated the LORD. God sent a west wind the blew away the locust into the Red Sea. Not one locust was left in the land.
But God hardened Pharaoh's heart and so he would not release the Israelites. Then God told Moses to stretch out his hands towards heaven to bring darkness upon the land that was so think it could actually be felt. The darkness lasted three days, keeping people from seeing one another or rising up from their beds. But in Goshen, there was daylight.
The Egyptian's top god was RA, ruler of the sun. This darkness demonstrated that Ra was no match for Israel's God.
Again, Pharaoh calls for Moses to appear before him, telling Moses to go to serve the LORD but leave behind the livestock. Moses insisted that they needed to take the livestock because they did not know yet what God would ask of them in service to Him. So, the LORD Pharaoh' hardened heart further and told Moses not to meet with him ever again. Moses agreed to never speak to Pharaoh again.
In this chapter of Exodus, Moses and Aaron are still talking with Pharaoh, seeking the release of the Israelites from bondage. Pharaoh is not deterred by the plagues, nor humbled (vs.3). He was determined not to surrender his self-assertiveness nor his maintenance of his sovereignty, not even to the true God. Isn't this the essence of sin?
In the opening of the chapter, God is stating the reasons for the hardening of Pharaoh's heart-that I may show these signs of Mine before him and that you may tell in the hearing of your sons and your son's sons the mighty things I have done in Egypt and My signs which I have done among them, that you may know that I am the LORD" (NIV) verses 1-2.
This makes me think of God's ways not being our ways. I know that He cannot sin or do evil. Yet so many people are being adversely affected by these plagues that God calls My signs. Here God is exercising His justice. There is not sin by God in this. I need to keep my mind clear in this so as not to accuse God of wrongdoing by causing suffering. Here God is not just allowing suffering, but is causing it. And it says that God hardened Pharaoh's heart. Pharoah chose to not submit to God, but it was as much God's doing as it was Pharaoh's ( Romans 9:14-24 speaks of God choosing to have mercy on whom He will have mercy and hardens whom He wills to harden, like Pharaoh.
In verse 4 God again, warns Pharaoh ahead of time of a coming plague, this time locusts. Even Pharaoh's servants entreated Pharaoh to let the Israelites go because Egypt was being destroyed. So, Pharaoh listened to these advisors and agreed to let SOME go, but not all. He still wanted rule over the Israelites and leaving some behind would ensure that the ones who go will come back. Pharaoh said that the MEN could go. Moses demanded that ALL would leave with him, including young, old, male, female, and all of their livestock.
Pharaoh warns Moses that evil lies ahead if they go.

Revelation 12 depicts one of the many allegories for the 144,000 sealed saints. They are the only people sealed for 42 months from death during the great tribulation, no one else. This is part of their hidden story, hidden until identified by their characteristics.
Thanks for your post to me. You said you are a regular on here but I do not recognize your screen name here. Do you post under another name? I just want to know who I am interacting so I can recall past conversations and posts.
I have said that obeying the commandments is a "requirement". I only recall it being mentioned one time by another poster.
I just happened to think that if Jesus instructed us to obey His commandments if claim to love Him, then we should as He has asks us to do. That is a bit different than "requirement".
I appreciate your support. I see that the posts before and between my posts were removed. I do not know why. I truly wanted to know more so that I could understand the poster and give a reasoned response. I prayed for those two posters last night.
We just don't know those who come here to post and often what seem like innocuous words offend others. So, I am always glad when people speak honestly with me.
