Dear Richard, I am sorry that I have offended you. I was really wanting to know more of BADAZZ's thinking. Not trying to mother anyone. Sorry you take it that way. I am glad you shared your thoughts with me. I do think that this site is for anyone to speak their thoughts and to respond to posts as they feel led to do. But I will take your criticism under prayerful consideration. Have a good evening.

Richard, I am just like you, just looking to learn from Scripture, but I went through Genesis in November and December and wrote comments in the comments sections of those chapters. I like to go and read all of the comments on a chapter before I write mine so that I can better know what would be best to write about. If you haven't yet, you can click on the comments button at the bottom of the page for each chapter to read prior comments. I am learning as I go. I look things up online on ideas that I have questions about. That is how I found out about the two Abimelech's. Have a good evening.

Yes, I agree that we should pray for these folks.
  • S Spencer - In Reply - 3 years ago
    Gigi.

I'm sorry but I don't agree with you on this one.

    Here's why.

You said, "You think that this is a misrepresentation of what some are saying on here.

Most on here agree that we are made righteous by faith in Jesus; that His work of salvation, perfect life, and perfect sacrifice is all we need to trust in for our right standing with God."

And you said Most on here believe that it is through God's grace that we come to salvation; it is a gift from God and not earned. Most on here believe that being under grace frees us from the curse of the law and the need to try to attain righteousness by keeping the law.

For a full week I have been posting to an individual and he's been posting to me.

"Not most people as you stated!"

He made it clear as he always has!!

He has made it clear to you also.

We have been having this friendly debate off and on joined by others for some time now.

Here is a portion of his quote to you.

"I agree, but I also would like to add that Jesus tells us repeatedly throughout the scripture to follow the commandments, including this powerful scripture spoken by Jesus to Apostle John approximately 50 years after His ascension into Heaven. If the Commandments were nailed to the cross and are no longer viable as many try to argue, why is Jesus still telling us that following his commandments are necessary - 50 years after His crucifixion?"

Hear is a portion of his quote to me.

"In summary, we must follow Jesus/God's commands (10 Commandments) and work out our own salvation - if we expect to receive his favorable judgement."

Im not sure why you feel I've misrepresented anyone when they make it clear.

Again my post is to an individual as an answer to his reply to me.

    Not most people.

    God Bless.

    Good evening S. Spencer

No, I was not accusing you of teaching this. I have read all of your posts.

In the early church, because of this teaching of Paul, antinomianism became a problem in the church because people thought that they did not need to live godly lives because they were free from the law, being under grace.

Antinomianism (sinning freely due to grace), is a problem today, also, because people do not take in the whole council of Paul's teaching across the Epistle letters concerning law and gospel. This is what I am speaking to, in general, not specifically in regards to your posts.

Hello Bob, I don't think people change text of a Bible because one day someone prefers something else. If you look at the original KJV Ruth 2:2 more than 400 years ago it said corn and if you look at the other translations on this site all of them say corn. So, you think the text of all KJV Bibles should be changed to "ears of barley" because you assume no one grew corn in their cornfields?

Child, get off that backslide and come on over to the frontslide. Get yourself a new routine, like working out, self discipline. You can do it with God in your heart, you'll be OK.
  • The Ark of the Covenant - In Reply on 1 Chronicles 15 - 3 years ago
( EXODUS 25:13-14). Later it is specified that of the Levites, it would be the job of the sons of Kohath to bear the ark and that no one was to touch the ark, not even the sons of Kohath, the result of doing so was to die (Num.4:15).

Yet, some might determine that would only apply to initially loading it upon some beast of burden or such. Yet, this is made clear when beasts of burden were donated to the priests, "But unto the sons of Kohath he gave none: because the service of the sanctuary belonging unto them was that they should bear upon their shoulders" ( Num. 7:9), the items making up the tabernacle. Now fast forward some four hundred years and the ark of the covenant has been captured by the Philistines and then returned to Israel, but not back to where the tabernacle was. David saw fit to have it brought back. It is recorded that, "they set the ark of God upon a new cart, and brought it out of the house of Abinadab that was in Gibeah: and Uzzah and Ahio, the sons of Abinadab, drave the new cart" ( II Sam. 6:3). At one point, "Uzzah put forth his hand to the ark of God, and took hold of it; for the oxen shook it. And the anger of the Lord was kindled against Uzzah: and God smote him there for his error; and there he died by the ark of God" ( II Sam. 6:4). So, now what can we learn about how to transport an ark, or really to carry out any command of God?

  • Richard H Priday on Genesis 24 - 3 years ago
The earlier narrative of Abraham's brother Nahor and his descendants serves the purpose of a backdrop to this chapter in regard to finding a wife for Isaac. Abraham had an assignment that he dumped on his servant (nameless in this account). He had to go to his homeland (not sure how far away) to seek a wife for his son. The mission was a one shot deal; make or break. The prayer of a righteous man is truly effective. Basically this servant asked God for the first woman that appeared and offered water for him and his camels to be "the one". It is supposed that this family lived in some known locality; but it is unclear how many families lived there or if there were multiple families scattered in different regions. Nonetheless; the prayer was answered before completed in thought; and the rest of the dilly dallying was human reasoning. The 10 days sought in verse 55 of delay was thankfully decided against by Rebekkah. Hence; she was speedily off with the nursemaid for Rebecca and the others; and the marriage was simply consummated in the tent immediately upon their return. This was a far cry from the YEARS of delay Jacob had to deal with in regard to Leah (being tricked) then finally after seven MORE years servitude he got to be with Rachel. Verse 60 BTW shows how God's promises were known by all close family members at the time.

GUess you know this stuff better than me. i'm trying to learn the Word better myself through all this commentary and also broaden the viewpoint so that the instruction is edifying through examples that others can relate to. At some point; I could ask challenging questions as a friend of mine who used to send daily scripture devotional messages. Am thankful in this chapter of my life to have the time to write these commentaries; although I have to be proactive with witnessing opportunities as my previous residence elsewhere gave me Christian friends who I would go out with once or twice a week on a regular basis. No substitute for local fellowship which the Lord has now granted me here as well; though in depth discussions can be hard to find. May He provide these things for you as well.

Oletha, every time I was caught speeding, I was. I waited , got my ticket and to work on time too. I wish my car beeped when I speed :/

I don't know why people can't admit wrong when they do wrong? Every city has a CIVIL COURT, which is free if you choose to represent yourself.

The policeman has to attend to give his account. It's all done indoors, no violence, screaming, cell phone videos. A room full of witnesses. It's done before a judge who listens to both sides and then rules.

If you lose, the county clerk can help you pay out the ticket monthly till it's paid.

It saddens all of us to see these violent encounters on tv. Parents have the purse strings and should teach the children the laws and customs, penalties for sin and payment to the victims. ITS ALL IN THE BOOK OF DEUTERONOMY. If our church doesn't teach it, it falls upon the parents to teach it. My Daddy did more than that. :O

Kids will learn if they themselves have to go to court monthly to make those paymentsWITH MONEY THEY HAD TO EARN. Good time to get your roof fixed, trees trimmed, fence slats fixed outside windows washed__if you help pay. Life lessons.

    Dianne,

I couldn't have said it better myself. It seem like few know the blue print the Bible puts forth from the pen of the prophet. Can't match the words and allegories up to historical events if their life depended on it. God forbid you say something now and prophetic; I can't see the trees from my ignorance, yet I want to tell you how wrong you are.

Sometimes I feel so low-down and disgusted can't help but wonder what's happening to my companions. Are they lost or are they found, have they counted the cost it'll take to bring down, all their earthly principles they're gonna have to abandon?

Bible studying the prophets is one of solitaire. If someone were to actually listen, they'd have to have depth of knowledge and context of understanding to make it worthwhile and reciprocal. Hosea 4:6

Also, where has Rick M. been He's been silent for about a month.
  • S Spencer. - In Reply on Galatians 3 - 3 years ago
    Hi Roy.

To add to the truths that Gigi and Roman has shared.

(For until the law sin was in the world: but sin is not imputed when there is no law.)

    Romans 5:13.

But sin, taking occasion by the commandment, wrought in me all manner of concupiscence. For without the law sin was dead.

For I was alive without the law once: but when the commandment came, sin revived, and I died.

And the commandment, which was ordained to life, I found to be unto death.

For sin, taking occasion by the commandment, deceived me, and by it slew me.

Wherefore the law is holy, and the commandment holy, and just, and good.

Was then that which is good made death unto me? God forbid. But sin, that it might appear sin, working death in me by that which is good; that sin by the commandment might become exceeding sinful.

For we know that the law is spiritual: but I am carnal, sold under sin.

    Romans 7:8-14.

    2 Corinthians 3:7-10.

To put it simply, the law is Holy, and man fails to live up to God standard and the law reveals that. When the law came it pronounced every man guilty.

Christ crucifixion and resurrection sanctified us positionally, Ephesians 2:5-6. and practically. Romans 6:1-6. and

    Romans 8:11-13.

    I hope this helps

    God bless.

    Hello Richard,

Yeah it is interesting that Isaac did the same as dad in this account. But, I read that this Abimelech was a different person than the Abimelech in the Abraham account. I think it was a family name or perhaps a kingly title for that group of people.

    Hi Berder.

No. It's not acceptable but it was prophesied, Mathews 13:24-30.

And leaven was prophesied to be in the church back in Leviticus 23:16-17. "Pentecost." (Shavuot)

The only 7 feasts baked with leaven bread!

    God bless.

Thanks Mishael, Speaking from the viewpoint of a recently retired public school teacher, I concur that, if possible, teach your children at home or send them to a private school that espouses your values and expectations for an education for your children. But, even if you can do this, do not abandon your community. Vote. Be involved in local politics and get your voice heard, show up to school board meetings, because you are still a tax payer and have a say in what happens in our public schools. Find out what is going on in your local public school and write letters to the editors of your local papers and to your senator and representative about these matters that are concerning.

The last 10 years of my teaching showed a steady swing in policies and agendas to the far left. The change in direction was very substantial and to the point that I knew I could no longer teach in the public sector. God gave me a way out when schools closed for covid and I have been able to be out of the teaching field for the past two years. I have been able to retire now that I have reached 65. I am thankful that God got mw out of a situation that was so concerning for me and I did not have to be expected to teach things that go against my moral convictions to little ones.

But to many of you here, your children are young and still in school or about to enter school soon. Please, believe me when I say that what goes on in the schools now is very different than when you were in school. Students hit, hurt, injure staff and other students every day in most schools and these students are not removed from the classroom for long, nor disciplined appropriately to deter these behaviors from happening. The same students continue in these behaviors day after day, year after year, and ALL students suffer from their behavior problems. Teacher's hands are tied as to what can be done to these students when they are aggressive. Also, students daily disrupt learning and set a bad example for others.
