Leave it to man to complicate what Jesus told us,"It's so simple a child can understand."
  • Marriages in Genesis - In Reply - 4 years ago
Same as Adam and Eve. The Bible records Cain, Abel and Seth.

Later there were many more children born; daughters and more sons. It wasnt illegal then, to marry a cousin. First, second or otherwise, OR it would've been prohibited. We WERE prohibited to intermarry with unbelievers: pagans, Chaldeans.

What we know is in the genealogical records. I don't study Apocrypha. It does reference to other peoples: inhabitants, giants. That's all I can say.

THIS was sorted out at the flood in Noah's time. But it wasn't a permanent fix. People still marry unbelievers (Non-Christian). Their faith suffers greatly as a result; sometimes causing believers to deny their faith.

Everyone's faith in Jesus will be tested. No one is exempt. We don't get a pass. Not even me. Question is, will we abandon our faith?

Jesus said John the Baptist was one of the greatest men born. But he was thrown into a dungeon, chained, abandoned in the dark. Read his story. He was so shook, he began to doubt. He asked his disciples if Jesus was the One? They told him what Jesus said to say: people are healed, the lame walk, the blind see__

John was eventually beheaded. His head given to a dancing girl.

We must be steadfast in our faith to the end; and strengthen others who are staggering in their problems. Encourage and Edify. There will be a reward in Heaven.

    THE CROWN OF LIFE:

Jesus says that He will give this crown to those who undergo severe hardship, testing, tribulation and/or physical death on His behalf. Probably being willing to die for your faith in God would be the ultimate sacrifice. It is the greatest actof courage and love that you can show God.Christians who have been martyred for their faith throughout history will not only be given this crown of life, but other rewards once they enter into heaven. The Bible says,"Blessed is the man that endureth temptation: for when he is tried, he shall receive the crown of life, which the Lord hath promised to them that love him." James 1:12 God the Father will honour each ones trials and tribulations and thus will be rewarding them accordingly. Look at this verse,"Fear none of those things which thou shalt suffer: behold, the devil shall cast some of you into prison, that ye may be tried; and ye shall have tribulation ten days: be thou faithful unto death, and I will give thee a crown of life." Revelation 2:10

Hebrews is a record of Christians who lived and died in their faith, in Christ.

Our forever home is heaven with Jesus we can see and touch.

Earth is surely going to pass away and be renewed by God. Just for us! So hang on.

From researching history and other events, I believe that this talks about a loop, or loops. History repeats itself. Time starts off at the beginning of an age or two. The same theme plays out, and then it ends, only to begin all over again with new people.

For example, during Noah's day, Atlantis was destroyed. During this age, New Atlantis (USA) will be destroyed.

During Paul's time, the apocalypse happened. It's happening again during our time with the same sequence in Revelation.

    Food for thought.

    Hey Jeff,

It will be hard to find, the closest you will get is a parable in Luke 16. If you read the chapter and the context it is against the love of money and wealth. When Jesus first came the Greek influence was widespread many were Hellenized.

When our spirit leaves our body and goes to intermediate heaven does not come from scripture, it comes from Plato. His definition of death is the separation of the soul from the body. Hades the Underworld where the dead went, a subterranean region, the world of the dead where all souls passed after their time on earth, Elysium was paradise.

If you look for scripture you will find sleep in the earth until the resurrection, Job 7:21 Job 14:12-14 Job 17:13-16 Psalm 89:48 Psalm 115:17 Daniel 12:2 Ecclesiastes 9:10

After reading Your scripture reading Leviticus 6. I really though about Our Savior on the cross & what He did for us & what it all represents. I love him . He not only saved us, he has saved us a lot of hassel & yoke like stuff . Its know wonder he said my yoke is easy and burden is light. This does not half to be confidential. But thanks anyway. God bless.
  • Wade moser on Mark 12 - 4 years ago
My main take on these passages is the point of trying to tell Jesus how the word of God is. It is like an author of a book being told by a reader what he was trying to say by their interpretation. Errancy was rampant by personal thought instead of divine revelation. Revelation explains in chapter one that it was given by an unveiling. God help us to remove our own veils to see what He intends and not our own.

    Hey Charles,

Thank you, may your lamp be full, and your talents be more than you were given. Many find teachers with pleasing words, feel good for a day, back in the world after walking out the door, and not truly repenting, thinking everything is hunky-dory. I don't believe sin goes dormant, there is a battle every day between the flesh and the Spirit in our conscience/spirit.

It is the Holy Spirit's work that empowers us to do our purpose. Like Paul said in Romans 7:18-19 For I know that in me (that is, in my flesh,) dwelleth no good thing: for to will is present with me; but how to perform that which is good I find not. For the good that I would I do not: but the evil which I would not, that I do.

Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God.

Hebrews 12:1-3 Wherefore seeing we also are compassed about with so great a cloud of witnesses, let us lay aside every weight, and the sin which doth so easily beset us, and let us run with patience the race that is set before us, 2 Looking unto Jesus the author and finisher of our faith; who for the joy that was set before him endured the cross, despising the shame, and is set down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 For consider him that endured such contradiction of sinners against himself, lest ye be wearied and faint in your minds.

    God bless,

    Hello Janita,

You have come to a good place here. We all want that. We want to read the Word of God, learn it, hide it in our hearts, speak it to all who will listen, believe it to be true, and receive from it the words of eternal life in Jesus Christ.

I encourage You to pray and ask God to teach You from the Bible as You read it. For me, I tend to recommend reading the gospels first because they contain the record of the life of Jesus Christ, our Savior. To me, knowing more about His life is very important because He is the one who saves us and the object of our devotion and worship. He is the Source of our every need. I have read the gospels many times. They are my favorite Bible books to read. Then I usually read Acts, then the Epistles. After this I like to read Genesis, Exodus, Leviticus, Deuteronomy, Joshua and on through the remainder of the historical books up to Job. Then I read the Psalms as they show how much David loved and depended on the LORD. then I read proverbs and Ecclesiastes. Next, I read, the remaining prophetic books in the OT and lastly, Revelation. This will take a few years to complete, but there is no hurry. Jesus meets us in His word through the Holy Spirit and teaches us and touches us in profound ways. But for you, you should prayerfully seek how the Lord desires to walk You through the Bible His way.

We are glad you came to this forum. Feel free to ask any questions you may have as you read. There are many people on here with a wealth of knowledge to help us. God bless you, Janita! Is there any way I can pray for you today?

    Hello Glenn,

What verse do you believe indicates that "races" were created in Gen 1 or 2?

My current belief is that other races were created at the Tower of Babel. Link

Because race (1) goes along with language (2), and geographic placement (3), and because these elements are so intertwined in culture, and because the Bible already said God did 2 of those 3, I believe the other occurred at this time, but wasn't stated. Gen 11:9. This is a pretty huge miracle only shared in a few verses, so I don't think its a stretch to believe that God changed their skin color too along with their language and geographic placement, for example, Indians in India who speak an Indian dialect, or Chinese in China who speak Chinese, Spanish in Spain who speak Spanish, etc.

Does anyone think this theory is implausible for a particular reason?

    Good afternoon Alex,

You are correct in this. Thank you for your post. Jesus is eternal God made flesh! Truly a mystery!
  • GiGi - In Reply on Psalms 5:12 - 4 years ago
Yes, Dan, we can thank God for His goodness and ALL that He is. The more we learn about Him the more we realize how praiseworthy He is, and so, this leads us to worship Him more perfectly in spirit and in truth. I have been studying and journaling about Him for the past two months. I just started it out from my study of Genesis 1 and wrote "in the beginning God created the heavens and the earth." I noted, "This verse tells me first of all, that God is! And went from there to sites that cite Scriptures that reveal His attributes. I write I discover anew about Him and note the Scripture references. It has been so uplifting to do so! I encourage such as study to anyone who wishes to know our wonderful God more.

"And this is eternal life, that they may know You, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, Whom You have sent." John 17:3

Our relationship with the only true God is the reason God created man as He did-to know Him. Think about the goodness of having eyes, ears, etc. to observe His revelation of Himself in history; of our minds that can think, reason, and store what is learned from His revelation; for language by which we speak and read about Him and His revelation of Himself as well as words to praise and worship Him; our emotions so that we can be moved by His love for us and return it back to Him; our ability compose music and song to praise Him with; our spiritual nature to yearn for Him and be regenerated by the Holy Spirit to believe and receive Him within us. The goodness of God is boundless like all of His attributes. Knowing that in His wisdom He designed us in such a good way to enter into profound relationship with the Creator and Maker of all things despite our creaturely limitations and His unsearchable, infinite, perfect, pure, holy, transcendent nature. How wonderful that He made it so that we can know enough of Him in this life and the next for us to be completely satisfied in Him, even though we cannot come close to knowing ALL that He is!

    Hey Monte,

God's name is written Elohim translated God, meaning strength, power, and God as the creator. Sometimes Elohim refers to plural gods, as in "You shall have no other gods before me" Deut. 5:7. At other times the referent is singular, God, as in "In the beginning, God created the heavens and the earth" Genesis 1:1.

In Genesis 2:4-3:24 Gods' name is YHVH Elohim translated LORD God, YHWH is the true God's personal name meaning God who brings into existence, God who originates, God as the originator and shows his intimate and personal relationship with mankind. The personal God who rules over Israel, and at the same time the one and only God who rules over all.

Many to most accept Adam and Eve are the male and female on day six. The most obvious differences and mostly discussed are the order of creation and the manner through which man and woman come into existence. Then the question where Cain got his wife. The account on the sixth day, God created man, male and female in his image he created them. In chapter 2 God formed man, placed the man in the Garden of Eden, then He created animals and birds, then woman and it is interpreted as being in day 6.

If you are studying this, regardless of your understanding, all people on earth today are descendants of Adam and Eve due to the flood. There are two words you may look at that are in the six days the word earth and chapter two the word field. Plants of the earth day 3 plants of the field chapter 2. Birds, fowls from the water on day five, out of the ground fowls' chapter 2, Beast of the earth day 6, beasts of the field chapter 2.

There is more but may this help.

    God bless,

    Craig,

Verse 27 literally tells us that we are the body of Christ, and members specifically, particularly, together. We're all individuals and we all make up the body of Christ.

Now as far as modern day prophets is concerned, there is no new prophecy. The bible is very clear that we are not to add or take away from the prophecy that is contained in the book. So if anyone comes along today claiming to be a prophet, right away a "red flag" should come up.

Verse 28 says that God hath set some in the church, and notice these three: First apostles, secondly prophets, thirdly teachers, after that miracles, gifts of healings, helps, governments, diversities of tongues.

So Paul is presenting two groups. One is for growth, and the other group is called "sign" gifts. First of all, the top priority in the body of Christ are apostles, secondly prophets, and thirdly teachers. But that does not mean that we are to have apostles and prophets in the church today.

There are no more apostles today. Now the word prophecy means to speak forth the word of God. So can a person prophesy today? The answer to that would be yes. But there is no new prophecy and no new revelation. So in that sense, a person is not a prophet as in the prophets of old.

Teachers are those who take the teachings of the apostles and prophets and teach them to the body of Christ. As far as new revelation and new teaching goes, teachers don't get new revelation and new teaching. They are drawn to the teachings of the apostles and the prophets, drawn to those who were used to inspire God's word. And the teacher teaches the word of God. He doesn't come up with new stuff!

    Hopefully this helps!

Actually Jesus didn't come thru any mans bloodline.....Simply b/c All men carried the stain and spot of ADAM

The Lamb of God cd have no such spot or stain......As Isaiah said he wd be without any stain and spot....Jesus

Said he was not of this world....He told the JEWS you are of this world but i am not of this world...You are from

Beneath but i am from ABOVE. ..Jesus predated the Jews and and ABRAHAM saying b/f ..... Abraham was I AM

Thus he had no earthly lineage.....When he asked the Saddusees what think ye of Christ whoses son is he they

Replied Davids son....But Jesus said if David calls him LORD in the Spirit how can he be HIS SON Davids lineage.

Our Lord cd not be defiled by any mans blood line....Even in the natural Womans plasenta keeps the 2 bloods separated

As his blood was the Very Blood of God....The living WORD made flesh and blood.....The LIVING WORD WAS HIS LIFE

BLOOD.....Thats y he cd say you are made Clean by the WORD I HAVE SPOKEN UNTO YOU...Its his blood that makes

Clean but his living words equates to his Blood.....In the natural a Womans plasenta feeds the fetus Oxigen and

and nutrients but neva the blood of the fetus are ever mixed.....Thats y he said i am not of this world.....May was of

this world but not Christ Jesus

  • S Spencer - In Reply on Genesis 2 - 4 years ago
    Hi Monte.

Viewing your question it appears you're not asking about the creation of Adam but why the writer uses Elohim in Ch 1 and yehvh Elohim in Ch 2 vs 7. That's a good question, It appears as though there are two separate creation stories. Genesis 1 follows the seven days of creation in a chronological, organized manner. But in Genesis 2, the narrative seems to take a step back and focuses on the day God created man.

I believe the emphasis on the name change in Genesis 1:26. Elohim is used because the focus is on the Godhead in creation so he uses words like "us and our"

And God said, Let "US" make man in "OUR" image, after "OUR LIKENESS": and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.

We do know there is one God as the Bible confirms throughout scripture. However I believe these name changes are significant.

Touching on the creation of Man

In Genesis 2:1-9. I believe he gives a

re-account of Genesis 1 with the emphasis on what he formed man out of "the ground" And most Important the breath of life when he breath into his nostrils. Therefore he uses Yehvh Elohim.

If you noticed Adam wasn't the thing was in focus, There is a emphasis on everything else that comes from the ground. And how it was watered!

Adam/Man was put in the Garden from where he was formed to keep it. And it yielded it its fruit.

When Adam sinned he was cast out of the Garden and God spoke this

    Genesis 3:17-19.

It's interesting how God uses the rain, the land when speaking of blessings and cursing. ( Famine)

We see this creation of Adam as being the one created in Ch 1 and Ch 2 as one account in 1 Corinthians 15:45. THERE'S OUR FIRST ADAM/MAN. ( Genesis 1.)

Then we go to Romans 5:12. we see that same Adam sin as mentioned in Genesis ch 2 and ch 3.

    I hope this helps.

    God bless.
