Good morning Ben, Yes, volcanoes have a long history, but not eternal existence. Since creation, our earth has been in constant change, some of these have been catastrophic, other changes are slow and almost unnoticed. The Atlantic ocean is spreading apart in small increments each year, but in ancient times , this separation of the earth's land mass may have been more rapid. The earth's core is molten rock. This molten rock gets pushed up to the earth's surface through the movement of tectonic plates and pressure eventually being released as lava, gases, etc. Earthquakes seem to liquify land features as these are flattened, upheaved, or formed into crevices or depressions. We don't know a lot about what is happening on the bottom of the oceans, but volcanic and earthquake activity is common and tectonic plates are moving and reshaping the ocean floor. God has a plan in all of these things since before He created anything. He is all-wise.

    Good morning Christ follower:

As someone who grew up in poverty, my children were the first generation of my family on either side who did not grow up in poverty. This is because both my husband and I are college grads. (I was able to attend college on federal and state financial aid. When my relatives on both sides emigrated to America from Europe, they were poor as well. It took 5 generations for the descendants of these emigrants to rise from poverty. We must remember that the standard of living for most people in America in generations before the 1930's was at a level that would ne considered impoverished by today's standards. People lived with a lot less than what people have in today's society, even those who today are "poor".

Most people who were born before 1930 lived in a rural environment. They were frugal and made the best of what they had. They did not waste things or buy things they didn't need very often. They did not eat out at restaurants much, but cooked their meals at home, often from foods they grew or farmed and preserved by canning. Many of these people did not have indoor plumbing. So, in America, many people are poor because they come from generations of people who lived in poverty. There are also many who are poor because of misfortunes like illness, debilitation from injuries or disabilities, are senior citizens on social Security, and loss of a spouse who was the higher wage earner. Many who are poor are so due to addictions and mental illnesses. And many are poor because of poor personal choices that led them into poverty or did not let them gain the skills or education to advance financially.

In third world countries, poverty is the pretty much to way almost everyone lives. Starvation and early death from disease is common.

So, Jesus said that the poor will always be with us. So, we should be willing to help people with basic needs as we can.

We can support agencies that truly help these people.

Hi Debbie Hendryx . Jesus is Lord of the Sabbath. That means if you put your faith in him you have a constant Sabbath. The phrase "the Lord of the Sabbath" is found in Matthew 12:8, Mark 2:28, and Luke 6:5. In all three instances Jesus is referring to Himself as the Lord of the Sabbath or, as Mark records it, "The Son of Man is Lord even of the Sabbath" ( Mark 2:28).

So the Sabbath is still in effect, but it is only made perfect when we accept Jesus.

Yes, in our times, in our culture, this treatment of women made in God's image is concerning to us. In ancient cultures, women, slaves, and servants were no considered equal to the adult males that had authority over them. Jews considered Gentiles unclean, common, and less human than themselves. I do not know how these practices of treating women as second class came to be common, but perhaps it was a result of the many wars that killed many men. So, there may have been more women than men and to spare the women from being destitute, without land or children, men took multiple wives and then began to use female slaves as concubines.

So, yes, Jesus was a liberator-of women, slaves, servants. But really, He is the liberator of everyone dead in sin,

This verse is referring to men who have become eunuchs by choice or accident. A eunuch is a man who is unable to father children due to the removal of testes, crushing of them, (as this verse states) or any other mutilation of testes. Doing such things emasculates a man, as this verse states. In today's world, vasectomy would be included in this verse's instruction, as it sterilizes a man from having children. So, to go on, this verse is saying that an emasculated man (as I have explained) is not allowed into the assembly (when people gathered to worship). In pagan societies, servants and slaves were often made eunuchs so that they would not be able to propagate children from within the household of their owners and some made men eunuchs as part of pagan worship.

I think that this verse emphasizes that it is important to God that His people maintain their bodies in the way He created them to function. So emasculation does not allow a man to procreate, which deviates from God's design for our bodies. In the epistles, Paul tells us to honor God with our body, since it is the temple of the Holy Spirit. So, to me, I think that God wishes for us to keep our bodies in the natural state of function that He designed it to be. We are not to despise or negate a function that God determines is good. Procreation is one of those functions. But in the same vein, we would not cut off our hand or gouge out our eyes, or unnecessarily remove body parts, alter them, or cause them to cease to function as God intended just because we don't like the outcome of the designed function.

I also think that we are not to imitate what those who do not follow God in their practices concerning ow they use their bodies or damage their bodies, emasculation being one of them. Pagans at this time would cut their bodies, tattoo their bodies, and emasculate their bodies as part of pagan worship and service to their idols. So, this is also a big part of this verses teaching.

    End Time.

Jesus told his desciples that the end of time was near. He told them that some of them would not die before time ended. "This generation will not pass before the day of judgement". A generation is 40 years.

Therefore, if Jesus was telling the truth, or if the writers of the Gospel books were telling the truth, or if the apostle Paul was writing the truth, the end times already came.

The end of time was approximately 70 to 80 CE. Jesus died circa 30 CE. Add 40 years (a generation) and you get 70 years.

Have you ever read John chapter 4. This is the account where Jesus stops by a well and a Samaritan woman comes out to meet him. He asks her to give him a drink. Theres an exchange that takes place about the Samaritans having no dealings with the Jews then Jesus tells her of this living water. She asks if He's greater than their father Jacob. The story continues with Jesus asking her to go get her husband. She explains that she has no husband. Jesus says to her, "Thou hast well said, I have no husband: For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly. John 4:17-18.

So Jesus recognizes this womans previous marriages. Which means that every one counts.

As far as Gods laws for christians it says in Romans 13:1-2 Let every soul be subject unto the higher powers. For there is no power but of God: the powers that be are ordained of God. Whosoever therefore resisteth the power resisteth the ordinance of God: and they that resist shall receive to themselves damnation.

1 Peter 2:13-15 Submit yourselves to every ordinance of man for the Lord's sake: whether it be to the king, as supreme; or unto governors, as unto them that are sent by him for the punishment of evildoers, and for the praise of them that do well. For so is the will of God, that with well doing ye may put to silence the ignorance of foolish men:

Titus 3:1 Put them in mind to be subject to principalities and powers, to obey magistrates, to be ready to every good work,

Now as far as I know, Mans laws that include marriage do not go against what marriage is in the new testament and even in Jesus' sight this woman has been married 5 times and now was living in fornication. Being with someone she's not married to. That being said, we can rightfully assume she obviously was not a virgin after the marriage to her first husband. So in your case you were legally married to two women, regardless of their former status. This holds weight in Gods sight.

I think of Psalm 37:25: "I have been young, and now am old; yet have I not seen the righteous forsaken, nor his seed begging bread." This is King David writing that in all the years that God has given him, the Lord has been faithful to His people & will not lead them into a situation of want.

I realize that 'poverty' can come upon anyone; it can be because of one's own bad choices or could also come from circumstances that are beyond their control (e.g. loss of a job, large payments, theft, etc.). So, it would be difficult to fault anyone unless their situation is known. But for the believer in Jesus, amongst the many blessings He blesses us with, He also gives us the wherewithal to live comfortably & peaceably on this Earth. Even if poverty should overtake me for some reason, as a child of God, I should be able to trust Him to provide for my needs without having to beg. I remember when one day in ministry in Pakistan, my team of five had only Rs. 100 (= 60 cents) left for our next meal. God sent someone to our flat that hour to buy some books - we could eat, PTL. Each child of God needs to examine himself carefully as to why he is in a predicament & not experiencing God's salvation (i.e. rescue) from it.

But poverty, alongwith so many other griefs we might experience in life, is because we live in corrupt sinful flesh in a corrupt sin-affected world. With poverty, we can include sicknesses, relationship breakdowns, heartache for family & others, even finally death. We could ask, 'Why doesn't God hold back all these things so that we can live happy & contented lives?' Sadly, God will not hold back or screen us from life's problems, as we are subject to the fruits of our fallen nature & have to live with it, or at least learn from it, so that we can look upwards to God & seek His Face & His Help. And to those who call upon Him & receive the salvation of His Son, God will provide in His special Way & Time & give us His Power to live above the griefs that come to us.

Jesus said come unto me, all ye that labour and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Matthew 11:28

God has given every man a free will. Everyone has the right to choose. Some chose a path of wickedness and destruction that has led them to drugs, poverty and in some cases wealth. You see in Proverbs 30:8 Remove far from me vanity and lies: give me neither poverty nor riches; feed me with food convenient for me: Why? because verse 9 which states: Lest I be full, and deny thee, and say, Who is the Lord? or lest I be poor, and steal, and take the name of my God in vain.

1 Corinthians 10:13 There hath no temptation taken you but such as is common to man: but God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it.

The question rather should be do people who suffer trust in God? Do they love and serve him? The place where they are in life are a result of a decision or several decisions that they or their parents made. They can choose to place their faith and trust in God and he will make their burdens light or they can continue in their path and it may not change.

I know that the concubine is a symbol of Israel as they went whoring after strange "gods", but it is particularly disgusting and disturbing how women were treated as chattel in biblical times. It took Jesus Christ, our Creator, to finally show the value of all human beings. I like to tell people He was the first liberator of women.

Several issues that all come together as 1. I was raised in a Holy Roller environment, An environment that about everything you did was pretty much sinful, women wearing pants, people wearing jewelry, wedding bands a sin, A man with long hair will go to hell. This is only to name 3 or 4 of such I feel to be ignorant. But now these same Christians that practiced those laws and rules have now put on pants, wear jewelry, talk about their neighbors and about anything they so choose to do, and now think they are Children of God. My opinion. They were God's Children then and God's Children now but they sure brainwashed a lot of the youth even to a point they had the youth afraid to know God for they were doomed either way.

I have been married twice but is only 1 of those marriages legit by God's rules?OR Have I ever been married ever as because both women I married had been married and divorced before I met and married them, (Traditional marriages as known by man,) But were those marriages made by God? Should not a woman and man be given to each other by GOD, and not man for it to be a lawful marriage? A Lawful marriage unto God. I am not here to do as men think I should I am here to do as God said, Both women I married as we would surely know they were married before me SURLY they would not be virgins and already defiled. Have I really been married> By God's standards or am I committing an act of fornication or even some type of adultury? My idea is these marriages of mine were traditional marriages > MAN-MADE MARRIAGES and I do believe there is a scripture that speaks we are to be careful as to traditions. They can get us in trouble as to God's Laws. Again Is not God the only one that can give a man and woman to each other, By man's Laws I know I have been married twice BUT by Gods Laws have I ever been married at all (PERIOD) Really I am not trying to be funny I am being serious. Please be serious and not be presenting me with man's Laws.Let's stick to this Bibical

The Bible says that if we hate people and hold them guilty and refuse to Forgive,

God will not listen to our prayers.

If we walk in forgiveness and receive Gods son, Jesus as our Saviour_ God will help us through poverty, trials, losses, illness, etc. We have to follow What the Bible teaches us. We can't reject things because of reasons we think are good ones.

It's scriptural to ask for what you NEED. A job, a better house, a vehicle, a marriage partner (flee sexual sins), favor with all people you daily deal with; help reading the Bible and understanding it.

From me: talk with God every day, all day long if you desire to do so. Talking and Praying. The angels put our words about God, in a Book of Remembrance. Malachi 3:16-18 And the Lord reads it.

Most people don't know this, but Satan can hurt people, cities, farmlands with rain, disasters. I truly believe one Christian on their face before a Holy God, can ask for a storm to change course. I've seen it happen. If we ASK and do not DOUBT, anything is possible. Don't brag. Worship God.

Communication happens between us and our Heavenly Father. He is praised by angels In Heaven_ but I believe our voices of praise can join theirs too.

Rather than spend all night worrying about my teenager; I prayed for God to send an Angel to keep them from harm and bad decisions. Remember to thank Him when they come home safe. :)

"Complacent" is an evil spirit, that tries to stop us from giving attention and love to God.

May we be quick to forgive and fast to bend a knee and thank God for his Mercy, Grace and Favor.

The important point to me after reading this chapter comes from the MH commentary:

"Those who by sin disqualify themselves for comfort, yet expect that their ministers, because they are good men, should speak peace and comfort to them, greatly wrong themselves and their ministers. "

Oh how often have I, and many I have seen, pray for good tidings or specific wishes, when I should have been praying for more wisdom too see my sins in a clearer light!

  • Everyone in this Room knows Jesus is Alive - In Reply on Genesis 1 - 4 years ago
Joseph Smith was a person who lived and led many many people away from the Salvation of Jesus, the Son of God.

The Bible says to FOLLOW JESUS,

Not Joseph Smith__whose remains are inside a casket [which could be dug up and looked at)

Jesus's Tomb was already opened by an Angel; even though it had been sealed closed with a rock that weighed over 1000 pounds.

Six Roman soldiers guarded the Tomb all night. I was told the tomb rock hadn't been laid over. It had been picked up and tossed on top of the Tomb; which was dug out on a hillside. A story told by Jewish Christians for almost 3000 years.

A big riot ensued by the Pharisees accusing the Soldiers of falling asleep.

Mary Magdalene, Martha and another, went to complete the burial tradition; nd saw the empty tomb and alerted the soldiers! Mary Magdalene ran across town to tell the Disciples what had happened. Peter believed.

Three days later Jesus is resurrected and walks out; fully alive. Well over 500 people saw him over the next month. The sightings were recorded. His disciples witnessed Jesus rise through the air up into clouds.

The greatest witness of all, is that all these events were written in the Bible as PROPHESIES, before they began to be fulfilled to the letter. First one being Genesis 3:15. Jesus crushed Satans neck with his foot.

These aren't made up information. They were recorded by Jesus's Disciples; Matthew, Mark, Luke and John. Later the Bible was made with all of the Books written.

Recently the Jewish Museum in Israel opened to allow people to see the scrolls. Restored and able to be read by visitors in original language. Scrolls can be seen online too.

Jesus is who He said he is: I AM.

I am one of those people who got a peek at Hell. I was a bad person. Isaiah 14. People in it scream non-stop. They are tormented.

Don't go there. Repent and commit your life to Jesus. Signs show he's returning soon. Keep coming in here. We can help you.
