Jim Also the term morning or daystar are figurative descriptions for lucifer who at one time was Gods top

angel or messenger. There are more scripture involved in this if your interested but a lot of scripture are

different descriptions of operational methods after His downfall.

    Hi Rick

Isa 14:4 notice that it is a proverb against the king of Babylon. Verse 11 he is brought down to the grave. Worms under and over him. Verse 16 Is this the man? These verses are about the king of Babylon.

    Hi Hemo,

Yes, if you believe in Jesus as your Savior, repent from your sins, and be baptized in water - you will receive the Holy Spirit.

This is Peter instructing us to repent, and be baptized to receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.

    Acts 2:38

"Then Peter said unto them, Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins, and ye shall receive the gift of the Holy Ghost."

Apostle Peter was instructed along with the other original Apostles by Jesus:

    Matthew 28:19

"Go ye therefore, and teach all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Ghost:"

Therefore, Jesus tells us we will receive his Holy Spirit upon being baptized, and in the very next verse he tells us:

    Matthew 28:20

"Teaching them to observe all things whatsoever I have commanded you: and, lo, I am with you alway, even unto the end of the world. Amen."

Listen to Jesus, and his Apostles, Jesus tells us if we do - He will always be with us even unto the end of the world.

Those teaching that you don't need to be baptized to receive the Holy Spirit are deceiving themselves and others, and in order to do so, they have to ignore this scripture above, and a lot of other scripture regarding baptism.

Don't trust mankind with your salvation, read your bible and believe in the scripture. God Bless.

A lot of the reason for multiple wives tolerating being married to the same man was because their fathers gave them to be married to men they chose

    As with Rachel and Leah.

Also, women were not allowed to own land or receive an inheritance. They were better off to be married as their husbands and sons would provide for them. So, multiple wives ensured most women would be married ( as many men died in warfare) which means they would not be left destitute.

Another reason there were plural wives is that the victors in warfare and conquering of lands and tribes meant that the women and children were taken and the women became wives of the victor, especially of kings and princes.

In doing this the population growth of the conquered was grossly diminished due to fewer women to produce children and fewer children left to grow into adulthood and then produce children to grow the population.

In any event, instead of giving women fair and equal treatment as men and the pillage and plunder of war, sin was multiplied by these practices that led to plural marriages.

Some others may have more to comment on this practice.

The OT record is fairly silent on God's response on this subject except for what is said

In Genesis 2 about Adam and Eve, which Jesus spoke to in his reply to a question about divorce.

    James

    Jesus was resurrected bodily.

If you read the last chapters of each gospel book that records Jesus' interactions with the apostles, women, and over 500 disciples at once you will find that all of these were interactions with the resurrected Jesus in his body

He even said to his disciples

Does a spirit have a body?

He showed Thomas his flesh wounds and Thomas touched them.

    He ate with the disciples.

He ascended into heaven in a body and said he would return

    In the same way,

Bodily. He is in heaven forever in a glorified human body-both Son of Man and Son of God in the same person and body.

We will have a glorified body

Like Jesus' when we are resurrected. This body will be physical like His glorified body is, but will have capacities that we do not have in this life.

So I urge you to read these accounts in the gospels and in the first chapter of Acts. You will find your answer there.

Jan Just because man does something doesn't mean its what God wants done and doesn't mean its not adultery or fornication. When lot ran from sodom and Gomorrah and his daughters got him drunk and lay with him doesn't mean

it was right. Man has freedom of will God doesn't override that.

Jim This where things get interesting because look at the context of describing lucifer Isaiah 14:12-17 specifically verse 13 [I will exalt my above the stars of God also I will ascend very lofty terminology. In Ezekiel 28:11-18 esp. verse 13

thou Hast been in Eden the garden of God look at the rest of the verses. verse 15 thou wast perfect in thy ways from the day that thou wast created until iniquity was found in thee. There are times also when there figures of speech used in descriptions like verse 12 King of Tyrus Same guy.

Hi Marjorie Perhaps 2 Peter 1:2 which starts out through the knowledge of God and Jesus Christ or Lord down to

verse 8 with if these things be in you and abound ye shall neither be barren nor unfruitful in the knowledge of out

Lord Jesus Christ. Also you cannot out give God so the more you walk in love and give the more He gives in all

categories in life. Also Mathew 13:12 perhaps. Hope this Helps!

John 2:10-11 debunks the grape juice argument, because it says in verse 10 that people could get drunk from it. I'm not familiar with any Bible verse talking about marijuana.

    Hi Rick

You mentioned lucifer. It is only mentioned once in the bible.

It means morning or day star I believe.

It is taking about the king of Babylon.

    Read the whole chapter.

    Dear Dgjot

I believe that all of the apostles were saved and forgiven, Paul and Peter included. And I believe that all of the apostles were commissioned by Jesus to bring the gospel message to the world. Therefore, I believe that Jesus prepared and the Spirit empowered all if the apostles to rightly discharge their calling. So, no, Peter was not copying Paul. He was writing under the inspiration of the Holy Spirit just as Paul did.

Because of this, their writings may have similar themes or tones because they wrote what God wanted written.

We need to forgive Peter just as we forgive Paul. They were sinners like you, me, and all humanity.

We should hold these apostles with respect for the position God placed them in at a most crucial time in redemptive history. Both Peter and Paul were martyred in Rome. All of the other apostles were martyred, except for John(he died of old age). Many Christians were martyred in those early centuries. They were convinced of their faith in Christ, loved the Lord, and lived knowing that they maybe persecuted or martyred at anytime. We don't live under those conditions today in America. So, we should be humble when we speak

Of these apostles and disciples of early Christianity.

the verse is saying if you don't have works you arent bringing forth fruit for God, its not saying you are not saved salvation is free gift to those who believe he is writing to people who are already saved not a book to get people saved

faith without works is dead he's not saying faith with out works is not faith at all, still possible to have faith and no works

in fact if you add works to salvation you are not saved at all and going to hell

Rom 4:4 KJV - Now to him that worketh is the reward not reckoned of grace, but of debt.

Rom 4:5 KJV - But to him that worketh not, but believeth on him that justifieth the ungodly, his faith is counted for righteousness.

Gal 5:4 KJV - Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.

It's not cruel to change the "rules". Right now you can't see your life without them, just yet.

They will love you more and thank you some unexpected future day.

When my son was 18 and stretching all my house rules, curfew (I needed my sleep); things got rough. Blood pressure soaring.

One day we had a talk. I said, by your actions and reactions, I can see that you are ready to get your own place. I said__I will help you but you have to maintain control and manage day to day.

He found an apt he could manage on his income then. I gave him half of my household to furnish him with the basics: bed, chests, 1/2 my linens, a gift of basic kitchen stuff. He had an open invitation to come over to wash clothes and eat pot roast. Those times eventually got further apart as he spent time with friends and girls.

I asked him how he liked cooking his own food, making up His own rules, planning and budgeting? He gushed, I LOVE IT. That's when I knew he was launched.

It was time for me to re-connect to people my own age. At church, tool shopping, gun range :D

Google senior trips in your zipcode. Life flows forward, believe it or not. You go over to the kids places to just be a guest. You'll get used to it.

Best part is, you'll get grandkiddoes.

When you pray, just ask to be lifted in the spirit of your mind and emotions. Lean on Jesus.

If you sit home alone in front of a tv, and don't participate in life; the body starts breaking down.

    Choose life.

May God be your Source to get through this part of life. Amen!

  • Gigi - In Reply - 4 years ago
    Jim,

I refer you to look up info on Jesus' dual nature.

    For example:

The Incarnation and the Teo Natures of Christ

    By Stephen Wellum

    The Gospel Coalition

This articles explains this very well. There are others you could read.

This is my suggestion for you to read such articles. I have made my defense of my view here and don't wish to go back and forth much on this.

But I am glad you responded. If you really are interested in learning more on this

    You will read up

Some, as I have. I think that is the best approach. I understand that we may continue to have differing views on this. I am ok with that. I am convinced of my viewpoint.

    Hello Ronald

If you read-read my post you will see that we agree. I said that Jesus has two Natures but these two natures are one Person. So His divine nature was unable to sin because God cannot sin. His human Nature was sinless and unfallen. Yes, he was tempted as we are tempted, and if he was only human and not divine, though in fallen, he could have chosen to sin. But as God and man in one person, his divine nature was united to his human nature (but not mixed) and this divinity kept his human nature from sinning. There were not two persons. In the body of Jesus, as some posit, but two natures united in one being.

This just proves that mankind alone cannot resist sin, even in his untalented state. But mankind united with Christ is made able in the life to come to resist sin for all eternity. This is part of our salvation hope for the life to come.

I'm weird I guess. I taught my 12 yr old son life skills 101 until he was 16. He learned full knowledge on how to run a household, cook real meals, yard work, maintenance on a car.

How to shop for a household, stretch your grocery money. How to never have to wear green underwear (laundry); sew on a button. He balanced my checkbook for me, to learn budgeting, paid bills and saw what was leftover :(

I let him work for roofing companies, Cleaning restaurants, grandpa's gas station. I told him it was to teach him the value of an education because low paying jobs are hard, sweaty and exhausting.

When he turned 21, he purchased his first house (a new one). He's 42 now; has 13+ houses he rents out and maintains. Works full time at a 9/5 job, has a family. He's amazing! He's teaching his son the same things.

You have to make a personal commitment to give a kid the best start in life. Schools and even Churches don't teach that. Parents have to do it.

He got some traffic tickets at 16. He knew I couldn't pay for them. I took him to the County Clerks office so he could pay them out. He learned to obey traffic laws, young.

I love being a parent. If we'd just obey God and not skip over the hard parts that are time consuming; we won't have to launch the kid. They'll launch themselves!

Let them work some summer jobs. Swimming pools don't teach them anything. Driving a car is big time maintenance and expense; they must learn. CUT OFF the fun money and they'll want to get a job. If they demand cool clothes and shoes; let them get part-time jobs.

You have to cease to be their source. They have to see their source is THEMSELVES.

My kid got to keep all his money and budget it. He was broke some months. He got the hang of it pretty quick. He got better paying jobs as he could.

I told him that no one can take your home or car, as long as you have a job to secure your freedom.

    HE ALWAYS HAD A JOB

    Write to me anytime
