Donna. I believe that God is One and will always BE Who He is. In Revelation chapter 22, we read of the New Jerusalem, where God & the Lamb are both seen in several verses. Before Jesus' incarnation (i.e. the Word of God sent to Earth to become man), He was God's Word ( John 1:1) just as the Spirit of God was within the Godhead. God sent out both His Word & His Spirit to instigate & fulfil His Plan for mankind. The fact that the Word became flesh ( John 1:1-14), means that as Jesus was raised from the dead & ascended into Heaven as a Man, He will always remain as that part of God Who reigns in Heaven as the Lamb Who was slain.

We could (maybe foolishly) ask the question, 'why doesn't God then 're-constitute' Jesus to shed His glorified flesh & return Him back to being the Word within the Godhead?' Jesus is still God's Word ( Revelation 19:11-16), but now in flesh, & will probably evermore be what the Father planned: His eternal Witness of God sacrificing Himself, but now reigning as "King of kings and Lord of lords" ( Revelation 19:16): as Israel's promised Supreme Messiah-King, the Root & Offspring of David ( Revelation 22:16), & also of those Gentiles who have been saved because of faith in the Messiah of God. Therefore, in these final chapters of Revelation, we see both God, His Son (Word made flesh), & the Holy Spirit ( Revelation 4:5, 'the seven-fold Spirit of God' and Revelation 22:17) - neither ceasing to be within the Godhead, yet remaining both a physical & spiritual Presence of God as God has determined of Himself.

Jim In the context I believe concerning sin and its consequences think about this, if adam and eve would not have sinned

would they have died or gotten old and decayed no. Because no effects from the serpent I.E. satan. That being said all

sickness disease illness due to sin in the blood and the life in the flesh is in the blood leviticus 17:11. We are born

Ephesians 2:1 dead in trespasses and sin due to Adam and Eve's transgression or sin. So were all including believers

in the old testament dealing with the challenge of walking true to Gods Word. When David and your right committing

adultery and murder are actions worthy of death in the old testament but God loving David sends a prophet to Him

nathan and Nathan Lovingly shows David His grievous error I mean David was out there spiritually His Self Pride got to

Him and we all pay for sin because the justice of God demands justice so he lifted his hand of protection and the enemy

was allowed to steal and kill. Now David via experience knew Gods Love definitely His grace and mercy because David

had Gods spirit upon him, put sackcloth and ashes on and basically begged to not loose the child. This is not saying

that all children die because a parent committed a sin personally. Every situation is different and there are things that

are occurring now that are a result of the sins of the world which we all battle. You can read when the children got into

serious forms of idolatry that when God walked way the destroyer came wiped out crops land taken over by the pagan

tribes that constantly God gave the warning to not do and the consequences. In Deuteronomy 31:16 the lord told Moses

your gonna die and after that the people are going to go whoring after other gods in strange lands and break my covenant. verse 17 and 18 he will hide His face it doesn't say he is going to do the evils! Everything works when God is in it when he's not. It's open season.

It was referring to all of us , an himself too !!! In our original spiritual body, try to remember what you looked like between 28 - 32 ,.. an that is pretty much what you look like in that spiritual body,.. an that body of course never gets old, never gets sick ,.. so when he created this age , for us all to go through one time , to decide weather we love God ,.. or Lucifer, it's just that simple !!!

    Hi Jim,

You initiated a reply to me. I'm not sure how interested you are in my belief, but I am happy to dialogue with you as long as it is respectful and grounded in the truth of God's word, not man's opinion. You shared scripture which is great, I believe all the scripture you shared, but I don't believe your interpretation of it. I believe you have misinterpreted it and I can be very specific to the exact reasons why for each point if you are genuinely open to it. For the scripture you shared there is more scripture that says Jesus is God. He's not God the Father, but God the Son. I believe this, because the scripture says this, not because of feelings, bias, or agenda, but because it literally says Jesus is God in John 1:1. Do you believe John 1:1?

Your comment began with a question not about the trinity as the Bible says in 1 John 5:7. But your question wasn't about what the Bible says in 1 John 5:7, but the word 'trinity'. Since we don't know each other I don't know your motive for saying that, but I can say that some others use it as a common straw man argument to deceive others in order to discredit Jesus. The word the "Bible" isn't in the Bible either, so is it not a Bible? The word used in 1 John 5:7 is the three are 'one', so if you can use that if you don't like the word trinity.

    John 1:1

    1 John 5:7

    Genesis 1:26

    Genesis 11:6-7

    John 10:30

    John 8:19

    John 1:1

    Philippians 2:5-8

    2 Corinthians 5:19

    John 1:3

    1 John 5:7

    Matthew 28:19

    1 Peter 1:2

    2 Corinthians 13:14

    Deuteronomy 6:4

    John 14:10

    John 20:28

    1 John 5:8

    1 John 2:22-24

Isaiah 7:14 - Jesus is called Immanuel which means "God with us"

    Matthew 1:23-25

Hebrews 1:8 "But unto the Son he saith, Thy throne, O God, is for ever and ever: a sceptre of righteousness is the sceptre of thy kingdom."

Isaiah 44:6 - Lord is King of Israel, Besides me there is no God.

"Sons of God" isn't THE Son of God.

    Do you believe these verses?

    Hey Donna,

God is not the God of confusion; I pray that you are led by the Spirit of truth and are delivered from the confusion that man is so good at. I will only address the one part, about the temple in the New City. If you read Revelation 21:22-23 And I saw no temple therein: for the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are the temple of it. And the city had no need of the sun, neither of the moon, to shine in it: for the glory of God did lighten it, and the Lamb is the light thereof.

The Holy Spirit is not spoken of. My understanding that many may disagree, God and Jesus will be among us and there will be no need to communicate through the spirit because we will be faced to face.

Revelation 21:3 And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. Revelation 22:3-4 And there shall be no more curse: but the throne of God and of the Lamb shall be in it; and his servants shall serve him:4 And they shall see his face; and his name shall be in their foreheads.

You must with prayer come to your own understanding of the trinity doctrine and if scripture truly supports it, be led by the Spirit of truth.

    God bless,

    Hi Lisa

    Psalm 97:10

    Tells us:

You who love the Lord, hate evil!

Since satan is totally evil, we should hate him and all sin and wickedness,

Since humans are not totally evil like devils, we are to love others and minister to them with prayer, the word, and good works that help them, even when they are our enemies, persecute us, wrong us, or do evil.

    Matt. 5:43-45

However, we are not to revile Satan or evil powers as even Michael the archangel does not disrespect these beings. Jude : 8-10.

So, we are to speak to them with the authority of Jesus, as Michael did and said: "The Lord rebuke you!"

But I don't think it is right to talk "smack" to any evil being.

    Adam

Thank you for the good explanation.

I am looking forward to seeing Jesus face to face and being able to understand more how God is three person's but one in Being or essence. You are right, our humanness is unable to comprehend the Godhead.

But we have Jesus as our brother and as our Lird to bridge this immense gap between our physical existence as creatures and the transcendent nature of our holy and wholly other God.

Jesus is our connection to the Father and to the Spirit.

How he condescended to be one of us and God with us. And to think, he chose this condescension for our benefit for all eternity.

    Blessed be His name!

Donna I simply believe they work together and in their individual capacities at the same time in certain aspects

    Hi Adam

I found your comments interesting. You mentioned the word trinity. Could you please show me where this word is used in the bible?

You mentioned John 5:18. Jesus never said he was God. The Jews said he made himself equal with God. Jesus then goes on to explain his standing with God.

Joh 5:19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.

You need to understand that our Lord Jesus is not the only Son of God. See Luke 3:38

In John 10:33 Jesus was again accused with making himself God. How did Jesus respond?

Joh 10:34 Jesus answered them, Is it not written in your law, I said, Ye are gods?

    Joh 10:35 If he called them gods, unto whom the word of God came, and the scripture cannot be broken;

Joh 10:36 Say ye of him, whom the Father hath sanctified, and sent into the world, Thou blasphemest; because I said, I am the Son of God?

Jesus is directing them to Psalm 82. It is dealing with the rulers of the nation of Israel. They are called Gods.

This idea "Sons of God" is used a number of times in the New Testament. Here are some of them.

Joh_1:12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name:

Rom_8:14 For as many as are led by the Spirit of God, they are the sons of God.

    Php_2:15 That ye may be blameless and harmless, the sons of God, without rebuke, in the midst of a crooked and perverse nation, among whom ye shine as lights in the world;

    Thanks for your time

Lisa Romans 12 :2 starts out what or some things how to think in the renewed mind, and in verse 9 let love

be without dissimulation [no hypocrisy in any action] Abhor[shrink from or another perspective to treat with

absolute disgust that which is evil, cleave to that which is good Gods Word. The challenge is still walking in

the love of God spiritual love we despise the acts of sin but love the unlovable, what a balance! We always

despise the author of sin the devil.

Donna In regards to The tree of life specifically in Gods Word both places are in regard to paradise Genesis

3:23+24 which was Eden garden of God then in Revelation 22:2 when everything is again paradise of God. There

are verses about a tree of life in regards to Gods Words operating in life. Notice what lengths God did to make sure

nothing got to partake of the tree of life! My understanding for what its worth.

    Hi Rich

You said wrong context. What do you mean by that? Are you talking about 1 Corinthians 15? The whole chapter is about the resurrection. If you have reason not to believe that you need to explain yourself better and followed up with bible scripture to explain your position.

2Ti 3:15 And that from a child thou hast known the holy scriptures, which are able to make thee wise unto salvation through faith which is in Christ Jesus.

2Ti 3:16 All scripture is given by inspiration of God, and is profitable for doctrine, for reproof, for correction, for instruction in righteousness:

2Ti 3:17 That the man of God may be perfect, throughly furnished unto all good works.

You maybe right or you maybe wrong but the scriptures are where I go to find out what is right.

    Thanks

    Hi Donna,

I don't believe we can just replace the word God for Jesus. I believe that uses of God in the Bible sometimes implies the trinity, but other times is used solely for God the father. I believe this is one of the common sources of confusion. Also, Jesus is Lord, and the use of the word Lord of the Old Testament sometimes seems to include God the father. I'm interested in anyone else's opinions on this. So, the three are one, the same, but also different. While this is hard for us simple humans to understand how much the same they are and how much different they are, it says it in the Bible and we must choose whether we want to trust and believe what it says.

About the word begotten in John 3:16:

I'd like to borrow from a Got Questions answer on this as I find them scripturally based most of the time. They say the original Greek word 'begotten' or (monogenes) has 2 meanings:

    1. The first definition is "pertaining to being the only one of its kind within a specific relationship." Hebrews 11:17 like Abraham's son.

    2. The second definition is "pertaining to being the only one of its kind or class, unique in kind." See John 3:16, John 1:14, 18; 3:18; 1 John 4:9.

    Link

Beware of anyone distorting the word to assume it means Jesus was 'created' later. This is not what it means. Scripture already debunks that in John 1:3, 1 Corinthians 8:6 (Jesus made all things), John 1:1 (Jesus was there in the beginning), John 5:18 (equal with His father), Jesus is the John 8:58, "I AM", Exodus 3:14, Revelation 1:8

    God bless...

That settles it then. How can Jesus be God? I believe everything the Bible says. I believe in the unity of the trinity. I believe that they're unified and have been together from the beginning. I believe that Jesus will come back. I believe Jesus will be in the midst of the new Jerusalem. Where will God be? The HG?
