So, why all of a sudden with Christ's birth, death, and resurrection, do we suddenly decide that God has provided eternal security for us? If according to Psalms 55:19, 102:27, Daniel 7:14, Malachi 3:6 and Hebrews 1:12, 13:8, God, Jesus and the Holy Spirit do not change, then let's quit convincing ourselves they do. Have a good Thanksgiving and thanks for your time...
PS OT saints got in the book of Life the 'old-fashioned' way, trust and obedience. It works every time. Amen.
John 12:49] For I have not spoken of myself; but the Father which sent me, he gave me a commandment, what I should say, and what I should speak.
[50] And I know that his commandment is life everlasting: whatsoever I speak therefore, even as the Father said unto me, so I speak.
God then promises to be true to His promises He made to Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to bring these descendants into the land promised. They will be blessed with the work of the people whom they drive out of the lands they will possess. God plans to give them good cities and homes to dwell in, fields, and vineyards, olive groves, and wells, none of which they planted, dug, or tended so as to be made full of the what the land will already have waiting for them. They will not have to begin from scratch as Noah and his family had to do after the flood. The land will already be ready for them.
But then, God warns them not to forget Him, nor to forget Egypt and the bondage they were brought out of. Rather, they are to fear Him, serve him, and swear by His name and not that of any other idol god. They are to stay clear of idols and the idolaters around them. They should not inquire about them or the way the pagans serve their idols. God says He is jealous for their worship and service and they are to not divide their religious faith and allegiance with idols that cannot help them nor save them.
The Israelites were to be careful about how they lived, worshipped, and taught their children. They are to be ready to explain to their children what God had done for them and why they are to worship Him alone by adhering to His commands, statues, and the good testimony of Him to Israel. We are to be knowledgeable of what we are to explain to our kids about the Lord and His truths. We are not to neglect this important aspect of parenting. I wish I had been even more diligent in doing this with my sons.
The chapter ends with these words:
Jesus Christ was running the show in the Old Testament.
He spoke to Abraham before burning Sodom and Gomorrah. He was the angel on the threshing floor that David saw. Jacob struggled with him before meeting essau. He is the angel that Joshua saw and said "are you for us or against us?".
The Angel of the Lord is Jesus! The entire Bible is him! Doesn't that lift your heart up? To know that Jesus is involved in every single aspect of humanity? Jesus is mighty to save! He will bring us home! Praise the LORD!
Circumcision is not a moral law.
Hear, O Israel, the LORD our God is one LORD.
There is not a multiplicity of God that are true and worthy of worship. There is only One: YHWH
This statement will be of utmost importance when He sends His Son and the Holy Spirit, each of Whom is God, but not three Gods, but One unified Divine Being that is three distinct Persons in a relationship of love and unity. There is but One true God, no other, and ever will there be but one God to worship. In the fullness of time, God's elect will learn of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit, each who is to be worshipped and glorified, but we are to remember that God is One in substance, love, will, and workings.
The Shema goes on to say: Love the LORD your God with all of one's heart, soul, and strength. We are to love Him with all that we are: our minds, bodies, soul, powers, will, actions, words, thoughts, relationships, and emotions. There is nothing about us that we are to withhold from Him. All of us belongs to Him, We have been bought with a price, our life is not our own to live our own way, but to live to God.
God then tells them to put His words in one's heart. To know His commands thoroughly and to teach them to our children often. We are to be a holy example to our children, our spouse, our neighbor, those who are in authority over us, and those who we have authority over. We are to submit to God in all affairs, living according to God's ways, not our own sense of right and wrong. to do what is right in God's eyes, not what seems right in our own eyes.
We are to recall God's Word when we lay down to sleep and when we rise up, when we work and when we rest. The Israelites are to bind God's Law upon their wrists, put them as frontlets between one's eyes. God's ways were to be ever before them, keeping them from being double-minded or forgetful of what God requires of His people.d
First, God calls the Israelites to fear Him. This means to revere Him and understand that He is able to make alive or destroy, raise up or bring down, bless or curse. Recognizing His worthiness for obedience, worship, and service is emphasized in the term: fear. Remembering his mighty, miraculous, and awesome deeds done in the flight out of Egypt, the crossing of the Red Sea, the water coming forth in the wilderness, the descent of God upon Sinai, the pillar of cloud and fire, quail and manna each morning, the deliverance from enemies, reminds that He is not a God who is weak and unable to do as He pleases or so congenial that one can take sin lightly and He will not require judgment, and that He is a God who cannot be stood up to and prevail. He puts down the proud and haughty, disciplines those He has chosen, and brings calamity upon the persistently disobedient. He takes offense at idolatry and His anger and wrath is fearsome. The Israelites needed to know all of these things in order to take Him seriously and, knowing that there is no other God to serve, they are obligated to obey, love and worship Him alone.
Then God says that His commands and statutes are ongoing. They pass on to the lives of one's children and grandchildren and future descendants. They are sure and consistent. God will not change nor amend them as time passes. They are for the good of the individual and the nation. (vs. 3)
God tells the people to hear Him, listen attentively and soberly with the intent to obey God's commands. In doing so, life will go well for the obedient. There will be increase of blessing in the life of the obedient, and prosperity in the land they will be entering, as promised to the forefathers.
Isaiah 19:8 The fishers also shall mourn, and all they that cast angle into the brook shall lament, and they that spread nets upon the waters shall languish.
Most all of Isaiah is prophecy of the Kingdom of God.
Egypt is symbolic as is Babylon in Revelation, what they have in common is the spirit of deception, which God is going to destroy.
Put the FISHERS as a prophecy of his 12 disciples and all those that are ruled by the same Spirit IN THEM as is IN YOU.
Matthew 4:19 .... I will MAKE YOU fishers of men ....
Ezekiel 32:3 ... I WILL therefore spread out MY NET over thee, with a GREAT COMPANY of many people, and THEY shall bring thee up in MY NET.
Ezekiel 47:10 And it shall COME TO PASS, that the FISHERS shall stand upon it ... they shall be a place to spread forth nets, their fish shall be according to their kind, as the fish of a great sea (of humanity), exceeding many.
This has been happening now for 2000 years.
Most of this is done after you are harvested and have been translated into the next age, and have become a chariot of fire or a locust as described in Revelation.
Revelation 9:2 And HE (Christ has the keys to death and the grave) opened the BOTTOMLESS (a grave that can never be filled with all the dead) PIT, and there AROSE a smoke (Christ and his saints) out of the pit (grave), as the smoke of a great furnace (of fire, our God is a consuming FIRE) ...
Revelation 9:3 And there came out of the SMOKE (the saints and Christ as ONE FLESH) locust on the earth; and unto them was given POWER, as the scorpions of the earth have power.
Revelation 9:4 And it was commanded them, that they should not hurt the grass of the earth, neither any green thing, neither any tree; But ONLY THOSE who HAVE NOT the seal of God in their foreheads.
Revelation 9:5 And TO THEM IT WAS GIVEN that they should not kill them, but they should BE TORMENTED for five months (symbolic), and there TORMENT was as the TORMENT when a scorpion striketh a man.
Matthew 17:5] While he yet spake, behold, a bright cloud overshadowed them: and behold a voice out of the cloud, which said, This is my beloved Son, in whom I am well pleased; hear ye him.
Matthew 28:18] And Jesus came and spake unto them, saying, All power is given unto me in heaven and in earth.
2nd Cor 1:19] For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.
[20] For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.
Jesus now owns the show. What Paul is talking about in 1st Cor 7:19 circumcision or uncircumcision means nothing any more in the new testament, we are now circumcised in heart and no longer an outward appearence. You are still trying to preach a Jesus that is born of Mary as if he is still here. My Jrsus we know more after the flesh as it is not an outward appearance but an inward one. Your glorifying in appearance and not in the heart
2nd Cor 5:12] For we commend not ourselves again unto you, but give you occasion to glory on our behalf, that ye may have somewhat to answer them which glory in appearance, and not in heart.
Circumcision or uncircumcision don't matter in the new testament we are one in Christ.
Col 3:[9] Lie not one to another, seeing that ye have put off the old man with his deeds;
[10] And have put on the new man, which is renewed in knowledge after the image of him that created him:
[11] Where there is neither Greek nor Jew, circumcision nor uncircumcision, Barbarian, Scythian, bond nor free: but Christ is all, and in all.
The Commandments of Jesus = his words of spirit and life John 6:63. Get out of the old and into the new as old things has passed away and all things have become new.
God instituted it as a gift to us. Pleasant, and a joy. Man has ruined it with burdensome laws. Enjoy the sabbath! Make it happy. Don't think about ways to make money. And don't have people work for you on that day. Enjoy God. Clear your calendar and think of him. Learn of him. Enjoy your family. Enjoy special food treats. That is sabbath. Happy and lovely. A gift.
This is a reason why the 7th day sabbath is important. It's both a memorial to creation as well as a symbol of the plan.
The Ten Commandments will never be abolished. It is the law of the universe for eternity.
The seventh day is the sabbath.
One day is as a thousand years.
Adam and Eve died on the day that they sinned because they died in the first millennium.
We are at the end of 6000 years. The sabbath millennium is about to begin!
1000 years in heaven with God. A millennium of sabbath rest. We will review all the books at this time and day that God is just and true!
"And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament: and there were lightnings, and voices, and thunderings, and an earthquake, and great hail."
The Ten Commandments are in the temple in heaven. Gods law is eternal.
:)
From reading Isaiah 19:1-9 this is a prophecy upon Egypt that a judgment will come upon Egypt and will gr3eatly affect the fishing industry with the brooks and River Nile being wasted or dried up and the amount of fish being greatly reduced. It is not only the fresh water that will be affected, but the salt water seas that border Egypt will also not bring forth an abundance of fish either.
It was probably so that the fishing industry was very vital to Egypt and the Lord will hit them where it hurts Egypt significantly to shake their confidence in their idols.
I am thankful that Jonathan is a believer as is his dad, my brother. God will provide Jonathan what is needed. He was brought up apart from my brother and his Mom was very neglectful of him during his childhood. Supposedly homeschooling him but did not. He can barely read. When he was having allergic reactions his Mom would not take him to the emergency room (which was just around the block0 and he would call an ambulance. He left her home at 18 and came to live with his dad, my brother, who had been separated from his mom since he was 1 1/2 years old. Over the past 10 years he has opened up more about what he went through at his home with his mom. So sad. This lack of education affects his ability to get a job that will give him independence and a salary that will be sufficient to meet his financial needs. He will probably be living with my brother for most of his adult life.
The gigs he just recently got in place, having found a few other musicians to play with, were a blessing, an outlet for him to make money doing what he is very good at and really enjoys.
I know that God will help him and that He hears all of our prayers. Thank you for yours.
It is true that Jesus was most likely born in the fall. And it is true that pagans celebrated the winter solstice and worship of Saturn at such time, but pagans do not own any particular day of the year. All time, days belong to God and we as believers are to use these for His glory. If one wishes to celebrate the coming of the Son of God into the World incarnated in a human nature, starting as a babe int he womb and then a newborn, that is a good thing no matter what day of the year it is celebrated on. I just heard on the radio my favorite Christmas song. "O Holy Night". How wonderful that believers and non-believers hear the wonderful message of this song every year! May hearts be touched by songs that celebrate Jesus' coming. And to have a holiday set aside to sing out this great and immeasurably worthy event is a great tool of evangelism.
I don't think we should celebrate any day the way that pagans do, but we can celebrate any day for God's glory and honor. That is what I do during the Christmas season. I know that people's hearts can be opened up to the truth of the Lord's advent and purpose in coming during such a time of joy and love and family togetherness. The message of Christ's coming is so very concentrated at Christmas we should be thankful that the church as a whole has this special opportunity each year to proclaim the gospel and sing out praises to God for sending Jesus, the unspeakable gift to the sin-filled world.
And some believers may wish to not celebrate Christmas at all, and as Paul speaks, we are free to do this, too, according to our conscience. We can have a decorated tree without it being an idol to us. We can have lights on or house without it representing a pagan idea. We can give any meaning we wish to any way we celebrate what God has done for us in Christ. And we can decorate during the dead of winter to add cheer and light and beauty to this time when there is more darkness than light in a day.
the Lord's Prayer is a wonderful outline for us to use when we come to the Father in prayer. We desire His glory and honor in all things, especially in the things we petition Him to fulfill in us and our lives. We acknowledge that all good things come from Him and with thankfulness, we glorify Him. We desire His will and the exceedingly greatness of His Kingdom to come to us on earth, which is described as such in Revelations with the coming of the New Jerusalem with God's throne among us. Heaven is brought to earth or better said, that Heaven and earth are joined in eternal peace, holiness, perfection, joy, love, and all the wonderful heavenly riches that we have in Christ Jesus. We long for that day. But in the mean time, we ask for our daily needs to be met by Him and for His cleansing from sin when we fail to live as Jesus lived and the setting aright of relationships in our lives that have been damaged by offenses, and to be delivered from the evil one who is always looking for an opportunity to pull us down into his evil misery and bondage.
For thine is the kingdom, the power and the glory forever and ever Amen.
The seed of Abram lived 400 years in the Egypt, in that period GOD made to be born Moses, since then GOD worked to fulfill His promise to Abram, it was in the half of the 2nd to the 3rd GOD's work Day,or around 2500 years after Adam(1500 years BC),and in the given period of time, GOD fulfilled His promise to Abram,as follow:
From Abraham to the Exodus really passed 430 years( Galatians 3:17,take a look)
Moses was 80 years when GOD sent him to bring His people out of Egypt,and died at 120 years old.Moses was born around 310 years after Abraham,and lived 40 years at the Egyptian court- Acts 7:23. After,Moses fled from the face of Pharaoh,and dwelt in the land of Midian by 40 years pasturing flocks- Acts 7:30. Then,GOD called Moses,saying:"Come now therefore,and I will send thee unto Pharaoh, that you may bring forth my people the children of Israel out of Egypt".Moses was 80 years old
Moses spent 40 years leading the Hebrew people to the promised land- Acts 7:36,it was around 2513 years after Adam(two Days and half,of GODs' works)
God bless
How to explain difference of exactly 240 years in the Jewish calendar?
Based in the Word of GOD,on GOD's six Days of creation and one Day of rest(a total of seven days)plus the Scriptures that teach that one Day is with the Lord as a thousand years,so MANKIND would go through six GOD Days of 1,000 years each(a total of 6,000 years) plus a Millennium of 1,000 years rest(now a total of 7,000 years).
According biblical Chronology, starting by Genesis 5:
Adam lived .......................130 yrs and begat Seth
Seth lived --------------------105 yrsand begatEnosh;
Enosh lived ........................90yrsand begatKenan;
Kenanlived..........................70yrsand begatMahalalel;
Mahalalellived .....................65yrsand begatJared;
Jaredlived ..........................162yrs and begatEnoch;
Enochlived ...........................65yrsand begatMethuselah;
Methuselahlived......................187yrsand begatLamech;
Lamechlived............................182yrsand begatNoah;
FromNoahs birthuntilthe Flood.....600 yrs.
Total years fromAdam tothe Flood=1656 yrs
Notice that the table above is proved by the Word of GOD,Let us study the times until our days by the Word of GOD-the Word is GOD. See the timetable below:
SIX PERIODS OF BIBLICAL TIMES ----------------- DURATION
I - From Adam to the Flood-( Genesis 5)-------------1656 years
II - From the Flood to Abraham-( Genesis 11&12)----427yrs
III - From Abraham to Exodus-(Gal.3:17)-------------430 yrs
IV-From Exodus to king Saul-(1Reis6:1(480-84)-----396 yrs
V -From Saul to the fall of Jerusalem -----------------508 yrs
VI -From the fall of Jerusalem to Jesus ---------------587 yrs
Thus,from Adam to the 1stcoming of Jesus ---------4004yrs
From Jesus to our days(Christian Calendar)----------2023yrs
Total from Adam to our days --------------------------6027yrs
So,we are living in the beginning of the seventh and last millennium, or the turn from the sixth to the seventh and last Day.
Get ready
Romans 7:6] But now we are delivered from the law, that being dead wherein we were held; that we should serve in newness of spirit, and not in the oldness of the letter.
Galations 4:19] My little children, of whom I travail in birth again until Christ be formed in you,
[20] I desire to be present with you now, and to change my voice; for I stand in doubt of you.
[21] Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
[22] For it is written, that Abraham had two sons, the one by a bondmaid, the other by a freewoman.
[23] But he who was of the bondwoman was born after the flesh; but he of the freewoman was by promise.
[24] Which things are an allegory: for these are the two covenants; the one from the mount Sinai, which gendereth to bondage, which is Agar.
[25] For this Agar is mount Sinai in Arabia, and answereth to Jerusalem which now is, and is in bondage with her children.
[26] But Jerusalem which is above is free, which is the mother of us all.
[27] For it is written, Rejoice, thou barren that bearest not; break forth and cry, thou that travailest not: for the desolate hath many more children than she which hath an husband.
[28] Now we, brethren, as Isaac was, are the children of promise.
[29] But as then he that was born after the flesh persecuted him that was born after the Spirit, even so it is now.
[30] Nevertheless what saith the scripture? Cast out the bondwoman and her son: for the son of the bondwoman shall not be heir with the son of the freewoman.
[31] So then, brethren, we are not children of the bondwoman, but of the free.
1st Timothy 4:4] For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
[5] For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
The old testament was the coming out of Egypt out of bondage. Moses had laws that nobody else did in the land. In the new testament our bondage is of sin we come out of.
Deutronomy 7:[7] The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people:
[8] But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.
Galations 4:21] Tell me, ye that desire to be under the law, do ye not hear the law?
[
