After a hard evening walking sidewalks (street ministry), all kinds of weather, it's the NO's that you remember when you get home. Rather than rest, you pray.
Just felt like I should say, thank you for your faithfulness to GOD's WORD & helping all of us, with those answers.
This full thought of the scriptures you want clarity on : Acts 10:26-46, starts in Acts 10:10-15, with the vision.
Acts 10:28 , I believe Peter was referring to Leviticus 10:10-11, Old Testament Law,
Acts 10:26, Peter didn't want Cornelius to worship him, or reverence him that way, he corrected him.
Mark 1:1-11, Luke 3:21-22, Luke 4:14-15,
Mark 16:6-17, New tongues, Jesus risen from the (grave), ate with them,
Acts 7:8, promise of Covenant, circumcision ; Genesis 17:10, Romans 4:11-12, 1 Corinthians 7:18,19, Galatians 5:6, Colossians 3:11,
Hopefully these are all helpful & pray for understanding
You shared quite a bit. I agree that we're in a spiritual battle, rather than the battle is already won and we can just chillax mindset.
As far as the apostacy, I probably have a different opinion. I believe in accountability among brothers and sisters, but based on scripture I think this has a limit at some point if someone has turned away from Jesus and is embracing a sinful life. If we are no longer the one encouraging and influencing, but are at risk of being tempted and adversely affected ourselves, that might be one indicator to back off and draw closer to Jesus followers. The reason I believe that is verses like 2 Timothy 3:1-5 it says 'from such turn away'. Also Ephesians 5:11, Revelation 3:16.
You mentioned only 20% of church goers tithe. I'm not sure how you'd know that, because each person can give anonymously sometimes, and may give to a variety of other people and organizations in need. I personally believe that its just as much of an act of giving to give of ones own time directly helping someone rather than paying $ to an organization to do the same thing. I personally prefer helping someone in person directly. And I think ones time and efforts have great value. Maybe some consider that a tithe, maybe some don't. But I do, and I don't know how someone could possibly calculate what others are or are not giving. Also, we have seasons of famine and properity and sometimes people simply aren't able to give much and I think that's ok. I don't think that broke college students should feel guilt or inferior or that they're not Christians for not being able to give a tithe. Its more likely satan who wants them to feel that way.
That's awesome you experienced a spirit filled service. One more thought worth sharing is you mentioned 12 people who didn't respond to a message were 'hypocrites'. As a brother in Christ I interpret that as sounding judgmental. We have no idea what thoughts are occuring in someone's mind and I wouldn't assume its bad.
I have a comment regarding baptism- I don't see it as murdering Jesus. To me baptism is more a celebration of what Jesus has already done and publicly obeying and embracing Him through the symbolic act. It's a very positive thing, not a negative thing.
The Bible says nothing bad about being baptized more than once. Is it possible this idea originated from this verse about falling away from Jesus? Hebrews 6:4-6
Some who were baptized as kids who doubted there sincerity later in life should not hesitate to be baptized, especially if they feel led to do so. I was and I am so grateful I was. Only good can result from obeying Jesus, not bad. God bless.
Hopefully these are helpful.
You are much too kind my brother. God Bless you!
I worried about losing that bookmark, but I never gave it much thought that I would someday lose my soul in hell throughout eternity without Christ. To this day, I have been in God's word for 22 years. I lost that bookmark, but I gained something more precious than a bookmark hidden away for years in a "safe place." I gained eternal life through Christ Jesus, and that can never be lost!
If God's Spirit is drawing you to Christ, please don't put it off one more day, because there's no guarantee that one more day will come. Call out to Him to have mercy on you and to save you. He is there and He wants you to come to Him. There is no other way!
John3:16 says, For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in Him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
That is how much God loves us. He sent His Son Jesus to die our death. He was without sin, sinless, and yet He came and died on the cross so that we could have salvation. And He did this while we were sinners, yet He had no sin in Him at all.
He paid a debt that we cannot pay. He shed His precious blood on the cross for you, and He shed it for me. There is no greater way to describe love than what He did for us. But until we come to that realization of His love, and what He did for us, until it truly sinks in, we go on about our daily lives heading for that sinkhole.
Jesus died for you and He died for me. We are sinners in debt to a righteous God. We can't pay that debt, so Christ came and paid it for us by shedding his blood as a perfect sacrifice and payment for our sin.
All we have to do is receive Him. He has given us a lifeline and a way to heaven to be with Him forever. He provided a way to get us out of this sin problem. All we have to do is call out to Him to have mercy on us, and by His grace, save us. We must receive Him. Otherwise, each and every day that goes by, whether we realize it or not, we are rejecting Him. And someday, death will come, we will fall into that sinkhole without a Savior, and there will be no turning back. It will be too late then.
So I ask you right now, what is it that holds you back from calling out to Christ for His mercy, and His grace, and for the salvation that He has promised to all who call upon His name? Why not now, for there is no guarantee of tomorrow!
One more part, I promise!
Most all of us would so easily make the choice to take the rope. But why is it so hard to take what God is offering, our salvation from sin, and eternal life with Him in heaven?
If we believe in heaven and we want to go there someday, because the alternative is not so great, why would we not take His offer of salvation? We would take the rope so easy, no brainer, but we hesitate when it comes to the most important thing, our salvation from sin.
You see, the bible tells us in Romans 6:23 that the wages of sin is death. We are headed toward this huge sinkhole called death, and we don't know when that day is coming. One day, that sinkhole will collapse below our feet. It could be today, it could be tomorrow, a week from now, or several years away.
In our natural human way of thinking, we always think it's the latter, or several years away. The problem is that we really don't know when it will be. But when the world collapses below your feet, like that big sinkhole we are all headed for, wouldn't you want someone there to grab you and keep you from falling to the point of no return? Even though Romans 6:23 tells us that the wages of sin is death, it also says but the gift of God is eternal life through Jesus Christ our Lord.
You see, we can't save ourselves. Therefore, we need a Savior. God does not want us to fall into that sinkhole. He wants to save us and keep us from falling. Without Him, we will fall.
Romans 10:13 says for whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved. This is a promise. It doesn't say might be saved, but will be saved. God loves us and does not want us to perish in our sins, therefore He has provided us a way out, a lifeline, a rope because we are drowning in our sinful state.
So now I begin to read my bible because it's "the Christian thing to do." And the more I read, the more I begin to understand how God sees me. And it's not a pretty picture. I come to find out that He doesn't see me the same way I see myself, or the way others see me.
You see, all along I thought I was a good person. People think I'm a good person. But God sees me in a totally different way, and it's not even close to how I see myself. The conviction begins to become stronger and stronger the more I get into His word. And then it comes to the point where I think "I'm doomed" if this is the way God sees me.
All the amount of good things I do, I believe in God, read the bible, believe it to be true, but come to find out it's not good enough. Why? Because I'm still a sinner and there's nothing I can do about it.
In the book of Isaiah, Chapter 64 Verse 6, it says that we are all as an unclean thing, and all our righteousness are as filthy rags. That's what God thinks of all my good deeds. I'm really not that good at all. Not in His sight anyways.
Now I'm in this dilemma. What can I do? I know I'm a sinner. I know I can't save myself. I can't even be "good enough" for God. I know there's a heaven and I know there's a hell, but how do I get into heaven when no unclean thing can enter into God's presence.
I have a sin problem that I cannot fix. But God can, and He's provided a way for me.
Picture yourself out in the middle of the ocean. You can't swim. And you fall out of the boat. Can you imagine being in the water helpless knowing you're going to drown? Now, what if someone in the boat threw you a rope? You either take the rope and pull yourself back into the boat, or you say, no, I don't want it. What are you going to do? I know what I'm doing, I'm taking the rope.
I used to believe it was because of the Psalms; David was honest before the LORD.
1 Samuel 16:13,19-22, though anointed, waited for appointed time,
1 Samuel 16:23, made evil spirits depart,
1 Samuel 17:13-15, David went back in obedience to serve family.
1 Samuel 17:17-22, Continued obedience of Parent,
1 Samuel 17:28, Not believed in by family members,
1 Samuel 17:45-47, love & zeal for Israel,
1 Samuel 17:39,48,50, risked his life for Israel,
These are a few I found. Hope these help.
The Church is going to FALL AWAY. Question is, are WE going to fall away?
Look at Satan's Names List. He's Hell bent on defeating Jesus. Thinks he has it in the bag.
Who will stand up like Ezekiel did in chapter 37, and prophesy to the dry bones in our churches?
It just doesn't feel right to me, to let people wander off into apostasy without a comment.
Peoples hearts are hardened if they are told often they are going to hell on a Hell-Fire rocket. Hell's gonna bust wide open.
The Apostasy in the church is this: nobody praying on their face for revival; distancing ourselves from "the lukewarm, etc. I worked in a church. Only 20% tithe. Fights over parking spaces and which pew is theirs.
I have a happy Valentines cassette of a sermon; and then the Pastor starts talking about people who go church to church, looking for the best most perfect one. Then he leans into the microphone and says, STOP SLEEPING AROUND.
I almost passed out, but I saw paled faces everywhere. I was innocent but the force of the Holy Spirit made me slip down too. Some people left that church after that; but a whole lot of people got healed.
The Holy Spirit knows when He is WELCOME to do some ministry in a corporate setting. Some people are scared to death to lift up holy hands and give a wave offering.
One Wednesday night at intercessory prayer (about 50 people), the Holy Spirit showed up. The pastor said "anyone that had ever made a promise and then didn't keep it (on purpose): come forward and be restored, forgiven and healed. Twelve hypocrites stayed seated but the rest of us went up. I was slain in the spirit 20 feet away from Pastor. just sitting on the floor. It was undeniably the Power of the Holy Spirit. Everyone is giddy over being FORGIVEN for false promises and all kinds of stuff. JOY JOY JOY
Don't Quench the Holy Spirit. LET HIM IN.

(Part 1)
Salvation is a deliverance from the sinful nature that we were born with. We are all born with a sinful nature. We don't become sinners later in life when we commit an act of sin. We were already born with a sin nature, therefore we are sinners.
But what do we do about it? Once we come to the realization that we are sinners, what can we do about it? Can we just continue on in life and try our best not to sin? Can we just believe in God, believe that the bible is true, or go to church every Sunday, or maybe even twice a week, and think that that will be good enough for God?
So now we come to the conclusion that yes, I know I am a sinner, but I'm not that bad of a person. Others see me as a good person, and I do my absolute best to be a good person. But am I good enough? How does God see me?
In my mind, I think He sees that I'm not so bad of a guy. I'm doing my best, I go to church, I believe in God, and most of the time, I treat others well. When I stand before Him someday, he's going to say to me "Great job, come on in!"
But then I begin to dust off the bible I bought many, many, years ago, the one that has been sitting on the shelf, never opened, except the time I opened it up to put a nice "Christian" book marker in it because I didn't want to lose it!
There I was worried about losing that fancy book marker, so I put it in a "safe place." It wasn't going to get lost there unless it just jumped out of the book by itself. I was worried about losing that marker because it was given to me by a close friend, one of those sentimental things.
Peace
Well said.
I am one to think that Christ has redeemed us, not just in our spirit, but our souls, mind, will, emotions, body-all of us entirely. So, we use all of our being in apprehending Jesus, our Truth.
I have always loved the way that the apostle Paul did not just lost a set of truths for us to believe, rather, he explained the What He received from Jesus. He called it " the faith passed down".
So, we know Jesus, the Ultimate Truth. But we are also charged by Paul to know this "faith" which are the tenets taught by the apostles in the churches planted by them.
It was important to the apostles that believers had agreement of doctrine across the churches. They knew that correct doctrine will help to uphold and unite the faith believers had in Jesus and that teaching of false doctrine was spiritually damaging and dangerous.
So, I hear you on determining that Jesus is our Truth, but we are also to be wise about whom He is , what He did, said , and taught as well as how He continues to be Present and at work in the church through the centuries.
As Paul said,
One Lord, one faith, one baptism.
So all of these are important, in my opinion.
That is why we discuss so many matters of Christian doctrine on this site. If we did not think it was important to understand these things we would just be saying,
Jesus lived, died, rose from the dead, and those who believe this and trust Him will receive the salvation He offers.
We don't believe in Hum and immediately go to heaven. We remain in this life and it matters how we live and what we believe about doctrines for the good of our souls and the church

Thesecondmoment of potential disunity came from Judaizers (Jewish Christians) who demanded that Gentile Christians become Jews and follow Jewish laws and traditions. The Jerusalem Council (James, Peter, and Paul) met in Acts 15 to settle controversy. This occurred around the year AD 49. The leaders did not require the Gentiles to be circumcised or to follow the law, but they did ask that Gentile disciples to be aware of Jewish sensitivities. Later in our studies we will look at ecumenical councils (like the one that occurred in Nicaea in 325). It's interesting to note that ecumenical councils aren't all bad; they had biblical precedent. It's good to get together and discuss our concerns and our differences.
Thethirdmoment of potential upheaval in the church came from Gnostic false teachers who claimed that the flesh was evil; therefore, Jesus did not come in the flesh. (To be accurate, this was an early form of Gnosticism; full blown Gnosticism did not arrive until the second century). The Gnostics held to a dualistic philosophy that believed the spirit was good and matter was evil. Salvation was to be acquired through ascetic practices where a person denied the flesh, thus giving life to the spirit. Also, the word Gnostic (fromgnosisor knowledge) meant there was a secret knowledge that must be acquired to achieve salvation. The more secret knowledge a personhad, the higher that personwould climb up the Gnostic ladder.
Paul and John battled this false teaching ( 1 Timothy 6:20, 1 John 4:2, 3). During the second century whole churches fell into apostasy through Gnostic teaching.
So we see that life in the early church wasn't easy sledding. Instead, there were various controversies that had the potential to split the church in two (or three or four) sects and factions. Thus you see strong teaching from Paul against false teachers and divisive people.
Much like us there were many Issues to consider.
God bless.
