AS to this post, my thoughts are that all that God has purposed according to his wise counsel, perfect will, and good pleasure will indeed come to pass exactly as He has ordained.
'I agree with you in these prayer request. We lift them up in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
Thanks for this excellent response. I am thinking along the same lines. The little scroll John "ate" as the prophecy he would deliver to the church at the appointed time is a good way of interpreting this Scripture.
Hey brother, I hope you don't mind my reply and butting in. In Revelation 10, the angel is holding a little book or scroll that is open. This is not the sealed scroll that God was holding, which only Jesus could open or even look at in Revelation 5.
In Revelation 10, it is similar to Ezekiel 3:1-3; he is told by God to eat this roll or scroll, and it was sweet in his mouth but later it was bitter. God also said to speak unto the house of Israel. It was the words of God/prophecy given to Ezekiel to relay to Israel.
We see the same in Revelation 10; the angel is holding an open book or scroll. The same voice John heard from heaven that told him to seal up what the seven thunders had uttered and not to write them down, told John in verses 8-10 to take the open book or scroll and eat it. It was sweet in his mouth but bitter in his belly.
In verse 11, as Ezekiel was told to speak or prophesy to Israel, John is told he must prophesy again before many peoples, nations, tongues, and kings. My understanding is that the little open book was the words of God that John would reveal later.
The words of God are sweet to those who embrace them, but as we see, the judgment on those who reject them is bitter.
God bless,
RLW
In reading all of Rev. Chapter 10 no explanation is given about what is in the scroll. So, I cannot say what was written on it. In verse 6 it speaks of time ending and in vs. 9-11 it says that the scroll was given to John to eat. So, but no mention of it being a deed to the earth or being related to Jeremiah 32 section you mentioned.
As to Satan tempting Jesus with the kingdoms of the earth, I think that Jesus did not give much heed to Satan's statement of ownership of the world, I think Jesus knew that God truly is the owner of all things and Satan is self-deceived.
Jesus said in Matthew 28:18 Jesus stated that He was given all power and authority over heaven and earth (also Matthew 11:27).
Dt. 10: speaks of all things belonging to God (also Ps. 50:12 and Job 41:11) These verses cause me to think that Rev. 10:2 does not indicate that the scroll was a property deed to the earth. I do think that the scroll was about the end of time and the consummation of all things in Christ. Why John had to eat the scroll is beyond what I can figure out unless it indicates that John was given this prophecy concerning the end of this age and so by eating it, it was an indication that John would write down all that was given in the book of Revelation.
But I don't think we can truly say what the scroll said or why John was to eat it, as Scripture does not say explicitly except what it said about time ending in the same chapter of Rev.
This chapter as with most of the chapters sets forth the will of God the Father, here it ends with v.12. "And they heard a great voice from heaven saying unto them, Come up hither. And they ascended up to heaven in a cloud; and their enemies beheld them."
Here with v.13 begins as shall be fulfilled by the Son. "And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven." Here we have this from the POV of the Word.
So we have seven trumpets. "And I saw the seven angels which stood before God; and to them were given seven trumpets."(8:2) 7x1000 establishes the Law of the Spirit as the basis for judgment. Over the Gentiles including the Jews. Tenth part of the city has been judged according law of sin and death. The Number is set by the Spirit. Those who shall be saved'Gave glory to the God of heaven' refers to the outer court. The rest is consigned to the outer darkness. The last verse reverts to heaven. "And the temple of God was opened in heaven, and there was seen in his temple the ark of his testament:"
Compare it with 16:17-19
"And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done./ And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great./And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath."
One tenth and three part do not mean literally but in terms of the Word and in terms of the Son of man respectively. "And the winepress was trodden without the city"(Rev.14.20) refers to the word become flesh so we have 4x4x1000 in the same verse.
While what is called the rapture it's timing and importance might not effect a man's salvation a mistaken belief about it might and could well effect that persons ability to be " ready" when Jesus comes (His coming is beyond all dispute .)
The scriptures teach for instance of " suffering loss as through fire" as exemplified by Lot . Who lost everything but the salvation of his soul .
There is also the loss as suffered by the 5 foolish virgins who were barred from the " marriage" but are not barred from the kingdom . For they heard the words " I know you not" meaning unrecognisable as the bride . Where as those barred from the kingdom hear the words " I never knew you" and are unrecognisable as sons of God bearing not His image in them..
It seems that there is an idea in the church that as soon as you are BORN again you are automatically qualified to be in the Bride of Christ. This is the consequence of reducing the gospel or our Salvation to being a born again with very little teaching of the meat of thecWord of God . Make no mistake every true born child of God is called " to that high calling" it qualifies us to "run the race" but it does not win us the prize . For there are prizes or crowns to be won . Rewards .
That don't save our souls that's Gods work . That's the foundation and we must be careful what we build upin it says Paul.
If we build but hay wood and stubble is that not works of the flesh?
Lot the counted righteous nevertheless walked by sight and not by faith.
And was thus unprepared and unaware of the hour in which he lived.
While Abraham who walked by faith was in a place where God couid reveal what he was about to do and was therefore in a place where he could intercede for Lot .
The Laodocian church was also blind and if they did not repent wouid be spewed out into " tribulation" that is the " great tribulation" it is interesting to note that the last king of Isreal was blind as also the last judge
Ezekiel and John are two witnesses on the basis of the Word, one representing the Law of Moses and the other representing the Word becoming flesh. The Spirit associates by the same symbolic act to connect the generation of Jesus to the time of the Gentiles.
"And the holy city shall they tread under foot forty and two months." This refers to the holy city or the temple which cannot be touched by the will of man. The action therefore turns to those who serve as proxy for Satan. "And his tail drew the third part of the stars of heaven, and did cast them to the earth."(Rev.12.4) Judgment on Sodom for instance refer to the troubles the righteous shall face among the ungodly world. So we need look at the power that is given to the beast. He is not a single person but empowered by the dragon and the spirit uses the word continue to the one in the vision of St John. "and power was given unto him to continue forty and two months..."(Rev.13.5-8)
What is the significance of 42?
Generation of Jesus Christ sets generations of Abraham David etc., in that frame of reference. This gives us the battle of five kings against four which was fought in parallel world. Abraham would not even a shoe latchet from one whose kingdom was numbered. In the vision of Daniel we have the four world empires and their 'power lasted for 42 which is explained by Mt.1.17 "So all the generations from Abraham to David are fourteen generations; and from David until the carrying away into Babylon are fourteen generations; and from the carrying away into Babylon unto Christ are fourteen generations."
The Spirit sounds a warning how we are to approach this:"If any man have an ear, let him hear." It is the ear of faith, singular.
Apart from 42 we have two other numbers each referring to the earthly ministry of Jesus:' three days and an half,' 'a thousand two hundred and threescore days,' so the Word, Word was with God and the Son of man
How shall one interpret the temple of God? In the wilderness God gave the measurements and the command,'even so shall ye make it."(Exod.25.9) In the two visions we have the angel telling Ezekiel,"Son of man, behold with thine eyes, and hear with thine ears, and set thine heart upon all that I shall shew thee"(Ezek.40.4). God commanded Ezekiel,"Son of man, eat that thou findest; eat this roll, and go speak unto the house of Israel."(Ezek.3.1) He is the double for Jesus Christ who is the Word made flesh. In Rev.10 we have this 'migthy angel' to distinguish the angel who serves as his cicerone, a fellow-servant. This establishes where this measuring shall take place. In the World of the Spirit where the risen Christ is designated as an angel Jesus cannot contradict himself and in resurrection they are. "but are as the angels of God in heaven."(Mt.22.30) So consider the entire temple of God is set up in that world and 'and the altar, and them that worship therein.' are already determined whereas the outer court is not. "But the court which is without the temple leave out, and measure it not; for it is given unto the Gentiles." It is to this Isa.2 .2-5 refers.:"And many people shall go and say, Come ye, and let us go up to the mountain of the Lord, to the house of the God of Jacob; and he will teach us of his ways, and we will walk in his paths: for out of Zion shall go forth the law, and the word of the Lord from Jerusalem." These Gentiles are from the Jews and the rest. In this context two dreams of Joseph require special attention. The Bread of His presence in the Holy Place are arranged on their faith; On the far end are the righteous as stars. It is called the House of Prayer for all nations.
Finally what is the measurement, it is John himself, representing the Son, 144,000. "And he measured the wall thereof, an hundred and forty and four cubits, according to the measure of a man, that is, of the angel."(Rev.21.16-17)
Pardon I got your name wrong in the earlier comment. My mind is willing but typos keep swarming in, and my eye is the problem.

Many believers seem to have no clue as to the book with this caveat:"And if any man shall take away from the words of the book of this prophecy, God shall take away his part out of the book of life, and out of the holy city, and from the things which are written in this book" (Rev.22.18-19) Then St John writes: "He which testifieth these things saith, Surely I come quickly. Amen."(22.20)
"Even so, come, Lord Jesus" John is referring him. Jesus warns, " Behold, I come quickly: hold that fast which thou hast, that no man take thy crown." (v.11) And he is standing at the door, even the door of your heart. It is with the eye of faith you see him; just as you hear it with the ear of faith. " Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me./To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am set down with my Father in his throne./He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches." (Rev.3.20-22) He that hath an ear, it is singular. Before the worlds began God sent his word and it is heard only with this ear. Without it you read oodles and oodles of teachers making a mess of this book of testimony. " for the testimony of Jesus is the spirit of prophecy."(Rev.19.10) Whence came this controversy of Millennial reign? Without ear of faith how will you hear the knock? how will you reign with him? Millennium or even a day?
Many have not understood the narrative structure of the book of the Revelation. Say Ch.5 for instance. All the dramatis personae are present as playwright first conceives them, their position on the stage entry exist and their lines.. It is all present in his head! Likewise St john sees the complete will of God and it is as real as a theatre piece shall be made into a play soon and there shall be theatregoers to watch it. May God guide you to know thhe truth. It shall save
Correction:
Jeremiah Chapter 32, not Chapter 5.
You are probably referring to Jeremiah buying the land (Jer.32.6-12) As for the law, "the land is mine' "The land shall not be sold for ever: for the land is mine; for ye are strangers and sojourners with me."( Lev. 25.23-24)
"Then there passed by Midianites merchantmen; and they drew and lifted up Joseph out of the pit, and sold Joseph to the Ishmeelites for twenty pieces of silver: and they brought Joseph into Egypt."
We shall see money playing a part in the transaction and it is to Egypt it sent the innocent victim of their envy. Egypt was the place to which God forbade Isaac to go in the case of the famine. " And there was a famine in the land, beside the first famine that was in the days of Abraham. And Isaac went unto Abimelech king of the Philistines unto Gerar./ And the Lord appeared unto him, and said, Go not down into Egypt; dwell in the land which I shall tell thee of. Sojourn in this land, and I will be with thee, and will bless thee"(Gen.26.1-3) God had seen the crime of the brethren and Joseph arrives in Egypt. But His promise continues as was with Isaac. God was indeed with Joseph. He blessed so he shall soon stand before the pharaoh himself.
Now Joseph sees his brethren begging for corn and the money they paid for it is returned. It was blood money. The twenty pieces of silver was a mark of guilt in their soul as against God and his Son.
As warned by God, this seventy of the seed of Abraham, who settled in Egypt were there for a long haul. Egypt for the Israelites became indeed a fiery furnace of affliction. What are 20 pieces of silver gained by such dastardly manner. God took pity on them and " And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians."(Exod.12.36)
With this money they erected a tabernacle in the wilderness and also a golden calf at Horeb. Nothing of that tabernacle remains since the original funds were tainted. Because of disbelief the golden calf shall morph into two one at Bethel and the other at Dan. Has their tainted soul ever recover the purity as God intended?
Something else to consider is why John would weep greatly that no one was found worthy to open this scroll. My thoughts are that John knew that if this scroll could not be opened, there would be no complete redemption of the earth, Satan would continue to have dominion, and sin and death would still go on forever.
So, as we both believe, all of creation including the earth belongs to God. He is the owner and He is the only one who can break the seal on the property deed. There will be a time when He comes back to redeem and take back what has belonged to Him all along. The sealed property deed belongs to Him.
So much for keeping it short, sorry! I would like to hear your understanding of this sealed scroll if you get a chance.
Blessings!
If I'm not mistaken, under Jewish law, and please don't quote me on this because I would have to go search where I had read this, but there were always two separate deeds involved in property ownership. The way it worked was if I sold you some property, there would be an open deed and a sealed deed. The sealed deed would be locked away in a safe place and I as the original property owner would be the only one who could break the seal and take back the property.
Even though you bought the property from me, if at any time I decided to take the property back, you would have to forfeit it back to me by law because I am the original and rightful owner. It doesn't seem fair, but from what I read, that's how it worked. Again, please don't quote me on this. I would have to do some further research as time permits.
Now, with Christ coming and being the only one qualified to break the seal on this scroll which I believe is the property deed to the earth, this is where He takes back full possession of what is rightfully His.
So yes, God is the rightful owner of all of creation. Something else to consider is that when God created the earth, He gave it to man (Adam). But through Adam's sin, he forfeited it over to Satan. When we read the account in Luke 4:5-7 where Satan shows Jesus all the kingdoms of the world, Satan tells Jesus that he will give all of this to Him if He would just bow down and worship him.
Satan is asking, do you want the authority of all these things and the glory of them, because they are mine? It was given to me and I can give them to whomever I wish. Jesus didn't even respond with a response of you can't do that. The reason being is because Satan was telling the truth.
One more short post, I promise!
I am so sorry for not responding sooner as I see that I may have created some problems with what I posted. I will try and keep this short but will explain why I believe this is a property deed. First, we are told in Psalm 24:1 that "The earth is the Lord's and the fullness thereof and all they that dwell therein." So yes, the earth and all creation does belong to God. If we purchase a piece of land, we might say "I own some land,' but the fact is that we really don't own it even if we have the title or deed to that land? It still belongs to God, not us.
There are a few reasons why I believe that the scroll in Revelation 10:2 is the property deed to the earth. It does not specifically say so, but it would seem logical. We see this book or scroll also mentioned in Revelation 5:1. Jeremiah Chapter 5 gives us some details, where Jeremiah presents the title or property deed. The instructions on the outside of the scroll would be who would be worthy to redeem the property. It seems as though we have a repeat of the book of Ruth, as we see the redeemer coming to redeem the property.
So here is a property deed, a title deed, apparently from the throne of God as a title deed to the earth. Who has the authority? Who has the right? Who is the redeemer who is qualified to come and take the title deed to the earth, and to break the scroll, and to look in it? Only the person who is qualified can take the scroll and look inside.
Out of space, will send more
Rev.3.20
I answered Free at a time when I am ready to hit the sack. Mentally and physically, Now it is 4 in the morning and fresh to be able to give coherent answer. Here is the verse:"Behold, I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me."
This door is the heart of man. A spiritual space. If one receives Christ he shaall come in. In the next chapter St John is in heave, It tells by faith you let in Christ and it opens an expressway so your paryers reach directly before the throne of grace.
"I will sup with him is on a daily basis. This is what walking by faith means.
"And he with me" There shall be a great supper of God."(Rev.19.17) All the fowls in mid-heaven have their share and we are among a great throng to which Jesus excludes the Jews. "There shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when ye shall see Abraham, and Isaac, and Jacob, and all the prophets, in the kingdom of God, and you yourselves thrust out."(Lk.13.28)
Jesus promised the over comer a new name, think of it as name setting your place at the banqueting hall in heaven, in the presence of God.
Many have not understood the narrative structure of the book of the Revelation. Say Ch.5 for instance. All the dramatic personae are present as playwright first conceives them, their position on the stage entry exist and their lines. Likewise St john sees the complete will of God and it is as real as a theatre piece shall be made into a play soon and there shall be theatregoers to watch it.
And then we can take the idioms, "son of the road, or son of the soil". I'm sure you've heard of these not oft used expressions. Most would believe that if those phrases were used for a particular person, then it is understood that neither the road nor the soil gave birth to sons. Likewise, Revelation 1:5 speaks of Jesus being "the prince of the kings of the earth". I suspect that you wouldn't now believe that Jesus, as a prince, had his descendency in an earthly king (or, multiple kings). So yes, biologically, the son of an earthly king would be called a prince, but metaphorically, this is not so as there is no descendency to a human king - just a title.
Lucifer, or 'shining one' was given to the king of Babylon who lived & ruled by that satanic spirit. Sure, Satan was never called Lucifer, but he, as did the king, were described with the same phrase: "the shining one, son of the morning". So whether Satan is referred to as "the prince of the power of the air" ( Ephesians 2:2) or the "prince of darkness" (taken loosely from Ephesians 6:12), these both describe the same devil, one who has power over his demons that move about freely in the world and in the air, as well as to the devil & his demons who brings darkness to people's minds & spirits, keeping them in captivity to sin, yet making them believe that they are in light, joy & hope ( 2 Corinthians 11:14). And he is called a prince, meaning that he is the ruler, yet having no king above him.
I am glad that you commented on the conversation we were having with Jesse. I wish to know from you what it was exactly in what I wrote that causes you to be disappointed with me. I merely asked Jesse to show me Scriptural evidence that identifies the scroll in Rev. 10:2 as the deed to earth. I don't see anything amiss about what I asked Jesse or what I stated about the earth always belonging to God as He is eternally Sovereign and the absolute ruler of all creation. I hope you will respond back to me to tell me how I disappointed you. Maybe we just misunderstand each other.
The gate you speak of, is in Rev.3.20 Read it quietly and pray God to guide you. The same door opens at the other end,"After this I looked,"(Rev.4.1)
For those who entered into God's rest what is special about millennium? Jacob entered into the rest of God when God confirmed his name. He faced many occasions to be shaken by his past catching up with him. Yet God alone led him and there were no strange gods with him. No prosperity theology,no nationalism and as with Abraham he lived in the presence of the living God. I testify that I entered in the rest of God serving only as led by the Spirit.
"Everlasting Covenant places heir of promises people, places, their names as besides the point. Revelation of Jesus Christ or testimony of Jacob covers him in his Son"
please read as
"Everlasting Covenant places heir of promise interact with people, places, so their names are besides the point. Revelation of Jesus Christ or testimony of Jacob covers the blessed in his Son."
"And a certain man found him, and, behold, he was wandering in the field."
Jacob sends Joseph, his son to enquire after his brethren so the Spirit narrates that he was a certain man. It brings us to this line associated with his father. "And he lighted upon a certain place, and tarried there all night,"
The place has a name but he refers to it as a certain place. It is to indicate the heir of promie wherever he was, he was within his blessing. Isaac blessed him,"And God Almighty bless thee, and make thee fruitful, and multiply thee, that thou mayest be a multitude of people;/And give thee the blessing of Abraham, to thee, and to thy seed with thee; that thou mayest inherit the land wherein thou art a stranger,"(28.2-4,11). It is thus Jacob sent his beloved son.
Moses testifies in this passage and it explains the Spirit who is narrating the events does so from the POV of God a Spirit. " Jacob is the lot of his inheritance./He found him in a desert land, and in the waste howling wilderness; he led him about, he instructed him, he kept him as the apple of his eye./As an eagle stirreth up her nest, fluttereth over her young, spreadeth abroad her wings, taketh them, beareth them on her wings:/So the Lord alone did lead him." (Deut.32.9-12) " So the name Luz is besides the point. In order to eat the last passove Jesus instructs his disciples," And he said, Go into the city to such a man, and say unto him, The Master saith, My time is at hand; I will keep the passover at thy house with my disciples."(Mt.26.18) God his Father had already prepared a place as we read God leading the left-behind church, " And the woman fled into the wilderness, where she hath a place prepared of God, that they should feed her there a thousand two hundred and threescore days."(Rev.12.6) Everlasting Covenant places heir of promises people, places, their names as besides the point. Revelation of Jesus Christ or testimony of Jacob covers him in his Son
"These are the generations of Jacob"
Compare these generations that are set down in plural and it is set against the generation of Jesus Christ. It includes generations of the patriarchs and is till the day of the Lord where the name of Jesus Christ shall be to the glory of God. "That at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of things in heaven, and things in earth, and things under the earth;/And that every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord."(Phil.2.10-11) It is how the Spirit introduces the gospel of St. Matthew, Every name including Abraham, David.
When Jesus declares I am before Abraham was, it owes to the Word which was God. In the divine Will what is set forth is as distinct an example which we have in the book of the Revelation. The Lamb before the throne, ' stood a Lamb as it had been slain,' is as distinct as the Lamb of God as slain on the cross by Roman soldiers. It is only in the matter of time man with literal mind fails to grasp. So he dismisses truth as made up and 'I can do without deep meanings'. Who deceives him, Satan of course. Skin-deep is also deep, but misses 'thy word is truth' . How on earth shall they be sanctified? The god of this world has closed their minds for sure. (Jn.17.17; 2 Cor.4.4) God named Jacob as Israel and his generation, everyone so named shall be set in direct frame of reference to Jesus Christ. For example let us taken the love Jacob had for Joseph as that of a father for the son of hiis old age. "and he made him a coat of many colours." From the subsequent events associated with it how do we approach it? "And they took Joseph's coat, and killed a kid of the goats, and dipped the coat in the blood;"(37,21) The colours dyed in the blood of the slain goat refer to the redemptive aspect of Christ, who of God has become redemption for us.(1 Cor.1.30). The Spirit gives the coat as representing " by thy blood out of every kindred, and tongue, and people, and nations."(Rev.5.9-10)
If we are to be able to look into Heaven, a door or a window must be opened. There is no one who can claim that it should have a different meaning. You world is completely thrown out by interpretations and opinions. That it is impossible to describe what it says, absolutely fantastic. "Jesse" does an excellent job. Of course we want Jesus to be everywhere here, but since it says the Angel, we should not twist it. I have also heard many sermons that make me sick. That is not good preaching. That should not happen among us. We who are so lucky to have the Word of God. I expected more from you "Bennymkje" and GiGi. Because if you read a little further down in the section, the answer will come. Now we can try and open our Spiritual eyes and try and understand time. Have we not gotten there yet or has the scroll been opened in a world that we do not see? You know John so many angels during this stay and it can quickly go a bit around. But the Word is the Word. So we may have to keep our sincere enlightenment in the Spiritual world to ourselves. In fact, we may have revelations that should not be shared with others until the Lord tells us to. Instead of creating confusion. (I read it as if this is a description of God on the throne). BUT it says Angel. And another thing, if it's Jesus standing there, he wouldn't have mentioned at all that the scroll shouldn't be opened. It should remain closed for a while longer. We may ask for wisdom and the spirit of understanding in the holy name of Jesus Christ. Peace and love. Must God bless us all. Romans 7
