You quoted: Revelation 22:12-14
I believe you are not applying the pronouns in the verse to the correct person.
Revelation 22:12 And, behold, I (CHRIST)(SPIRIT)(TRUTH)(LIFE) come quickly (during each persons fleshly life span), and my (Christ's) reward (Spirit, Truth, Life)(the gift of God) is with me (Christ), TO GIVE (Spirit, Truth, Life) ever man according as HIS (Christ's) WORK shall be.
Revelation 22:13 I (Christ) AM Alpha and Omega, the beginning (of creation) and the ending (of creation), the first (of creation) and the last (of creation). The first man BORN OF SPIRIT (truth and life) and the last man BORN OF SPIRIT (truth and life).
There is ONLY ONE BODY (Christ) and ONLY ONE SPIRIT (the Father). Being born of TRUTH (the word(s) of GOD) will result; at the end of SUFFERING in the flesh, you BEING MARRIED (BECOME ONE) with CHRIST.
He who is born of FLESH is FLESH.
He who is born of SPIRIT is SPIRIT.
God is SPIRIT; thus you become a FULL BROTHER TO CHRIST. A SON OF GOD, and all that implies.
Remember, you DIED with Christ and was resurrected to HIS LIFE AND WORKS.
You can not add YOUR WORKS.
Revelation 22:14 Blessed are they (those alive in Christ) and that do HIS commandments (Christ; now you life, never broke a commandment of God), that he (new creation in Christ) may have the right to the tree of life, and may enter through the gates (Christ and those married to him) into the city (OF RIGHTEOUSNESS).
God gave us the day that he wanted us to worship him in Exodus 20:10.. Just because it is in the OT does not mean we should not obey these 10 commandments. God rested and sanctified this particular day and asked us to always remember it
The 10 commandments are NOT null and void. God gave Moses 2 sets of laws, one was for the Israelites wandering in the wilderness(Moses law) the other was the 10 commandments given for all mankind(Gods law) Moses's law was nailed to the cross when Jesus was crucified no longer were animals to be sacrificed.
In Matthew 22:36-40 the Pharisee asked Jesus, Master, which is the great commandment in the law? Jesus replied, Thou shalt love the Lord the God with all they heart and with thy soul, and with all they mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbor as thyself. On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets.
There are 10 commandments the first 4 (on the 1st tablet) is what God asks us to do for obedience unto him, the last 6 (on the 2nd tablet) are what we are to do for our fellow man. On these two commandments hang all the law.....
Go to Exodus 20:3-17 and read the 10 commandments and ask yourself why you would agree with these precepts except for 1 of them #4.
Obviously commandment #4 is a big deal, the papacy (Constantine) thought to change it and made his sabbath on the first day of the week, God didn't ask for that nor does He approve of it.
Going to church on Sunday is done out of tradition, God didn't ask us to worship him on the 1st day of the week but on the 7th day..
God bless you and please pray and study for truth, the "Sunday blue laws" have been in the past, they will come again very soon and our right to worship as we believe will be taken away... God Bless (google Sunday laws)
Nice to hear from you. I'm glad to hear you say that you believe in the 10 commandments, and that you take them seriously. It's what God wants from us!
I agree, none of us will be able to be perfect, and keep the 10 commandments at all times, or remain perfectly sin free. That doesn't relieve us from trying, and when we fail, we can ask God for forgiveness through his son Jesus Christ. His sacrifice on the cross, is God's gift to us to allow us to obtain forgiveness of sin, not an excuse to say I believe and continue to sin!
You offer up this scripture: Matthew 22:36-40, and John 13:34-35, I agree, this is Jesus summarizing the 10 commandments, to Love God, and Love our nieghbor. So, if we believe these verses, then it's only logical that we should also believe all of the other scripture related to Jesus asking us to observe and try our best to keep the 10 commandments!
Many Christians today, including some on this site, seem to NOT believe they will be judged for keeping God's commandments and producing good works. I've previously submitted this scripture in some of my previous posts on this site. This scripture is (very powerful and enlightening) from Jesus speaking approximately 40 years after his death:
Revelation 22:12-14
12And, behold, I come quickly; and my reward is with me, to give every man according as his work shall be. 13I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end, the first and the last. 14Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.
A simple question Brother Spencer, Do you believe this scripture above? Yes, or No?
God Bless.
This, Satan detests, the forgiveness of sin! Satan will be found anywhere at any time outside the Grace found in Jesus Christ! It is impossible for us to live in this world without sin! Sin is at times will deceive us, and many times take advantage in our weakness! Paul talks about these things, and how we are to respond.
Being found in the faith, is the "absolute", you and I have in the promises of God! Sin, may separate us, but only for the moment. Satan has no power over us than that we give Him!
Don't think for one moment that because you are follower of Christ, that you cannot fall into sin! Falling into sin, can sometimes be the example of the parodical Son! He left and returned! He willfully took the chance, found out the grace that was His, from the very beginning! Knowing love , sometimes requires us to be without it, if only for a moment! This moment Satan will take too his advantage, this is the leaven Jesus speaks of. Repent and be baptized
It is my perception, that many of us have been tutored from a young age to memorize the 10 Commandments & to endeavour to live by them. But when those of 'strong meat-eating' age arrive at the Scriptures, & bring all of it together to properly understand this subject, we still tend to hang on to the first oracles, somehow syncretizing them with the new. And this cannot work as brother Earl gave a good example in Luke chapter 5, where the workings of Grace through Faith is totally incompatible to that of the Law, which could only reveal the extent of our sin, condemn us & ultimately slay us. Our inner ear must always be inclined to the Holy Spirit within, revealing all that God requires of us to live lives that are wholly pleasing to Him. Thank you brother for those thoughts.
Jesus took them to task in this chapter ( Luke 5) for their lack of consideration for the needy (vv 30-32); for their insistence on fasting & prayers even when the 'bridegroom' was before them - which should have rather brought them joy (vv 33-35); and for their rejection of the wonders of Grace (the new wine) afforded to those who turned to the Messiah, rather preferring the "old wine" that can have no part in "new wineskins" (vv36-39).
part 3
Colossians 2:10-15. And ye are complete in him, which is the head of all principality and power:
In whom also ye are circumcised with the circumcision made without hands, in putting off the body of the sins of the flesh by the circumcision of Christ:
Buried with him in baptism, wherein also ye are risen with him through the faith of the operation of God, who hath raised him from the dead.
And you, being dead in your sins and the uncircumcision of your flesh, hath he quickened together with him, having forgiven you all trespasses;
Blotting out the handwriting of ordinances that was against us, which was contrary to us, and took it out of the way, nailing it to his cross;
And having spoiled principalities and powers, he made a shew of them openly, triumphing over them in it.
The wage of sin is death, the death of this body of flesh. Spiritual death is impossible because Spirit is IMMORTAL.
God is SPIRIT.
Ephesians 4:4 There is ONE BODY (CHRIST) and ONE SPIRIT (the FATHER) .....
The angels are MINISTERING SPIRITS; if LUCIFER was an angel, then he CAN NOT be destroyed, you can't DESTROY SPIRIT. Physical FIRE does nothing to Spirit.
Lazarus and the rich man is a PARABLE, not LITERAL.
If we have to answer for our sins then CHRIST death was in vain.
You are chastised for not believing (obeying) his words.
Philippians 2:13 For it is GOD (SPIRIT) that WORKETH IN YOU both TO WILL and TO DO HIS good PLEASURE.
When you ADD yourself into the equation it becomes the works of you hands, which is an IDOL.
In that day they will say unto me, DID WE NOT, etc., etc. and he will say unto them, depart from me ye workers of iniquity.
God uses his ministering spirits to be a LYING SPIRIT in MEN'S PROPHETS, ( 1 Kings 22:19-22) causing man TO DO HIS WILL.
God is SOVEREIGN, his plan for creation to be ONE IN HIM; will not fail.
1 Corinthians 15:28 And when ALL THINGS shall be subdued unto him (Christ), then shall the SON also himself be subject unto him (the Father) that put ALL THINGS UNDER HIM, that GOD (Spirit, Truth, Life) may be ALL IN ALL.
Part 2.
Galatians 3:5-14 (KJV) He therefore that ministereth to you the Spirit, and worketh miracles among you, doeth he it by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith?
Even as Abraham believed God, and it was accounted to him for righteousness.
Know ye therefore that they which are of faith, the same are the children of Abraham.
And the scripture, foreseeing that God would justify the heathen through faith, preached before the gospel unto Abraham, saying, In thee shall all nations be blessed.
So then they which be of faith are blessed with faithful Abraham.
For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.
But that no man is justified by the law in the sight of God, it is evident: for, The just shall live by faith.
And the law is not of faith: but, The man that doeth them shall live in them.
Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:
That the blessing of Abraham might come on the Gentiles through Jesus Christ; that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.
Good night and
God bless.
Here's some parallel verses. Part 1.
Galatians 3:16-29. Now to Abraham and his seed were the promises made. He saith not, And to seeds, as of many; but as of one, And to thy seed, which is Christ.
And this I say, that the covenant, that was confirmed before of God in Christ, the law, which was four hundred and thirty years after, cannot disannul, that it should make the promise of none effect.
For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
Wherefore then serveth the law? It was added because of transgressions, till the seed should come to whom the promise was made; and it was ordained by angels in the hand of a mediator.
Now a mediator is not a mediator of one, but God is one.
Is the law then against the promises of God? God forbid: for if there had been a law given which could have given life, verily righteousness should have been by the law.
But the scripture hath concluded all under sin, that the promise by faith of Jesus Christ might be given to them that believe.
But before faith came, we were kept under the law, shut up unto the faith which should afterwards be revealed.
Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith.
But after that faith is come, we are no longer under a schoolmaster.
For ye are all the children of God by faith in Christ Jesus.
For as many of you as have been baptized into Christ have put on Christ.
There is neither Jew nor Greek, there is neither bond nor free, there is neither male nor female: for ye are all one in Christ Jesus.
And if ye be Christ's, then are ye Abraham's seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Hebrews 6:13-19.
Genesis 15:5-12.
( Genesis 15:6. )
Galatians 3:26-29.

1 But of the times and the seasons, brethren, ye have no need that I write unto you.
2 For yourselves know perfectly that the day of the Lord so cometh as a thief in the night.
Matthew 16
2. He answered and said unto them, When it is evening, ye say, It will be fair weather: for the sky is red.
3. And in the morning, It will be foul weather to day: for the sky is red and lowring. O ye hypocrites, ye can discern the face of the sky; but can ye not discern the SIGNS OF THE TIMES?
4 A wicked and adulterous generation seeketh after a sign; and there shall no sign be given unto it, but the sign of the prophet Jonah. And he left them, and departed.
We are seeing numerous signs now. Increase in natural disasters, earthquakes, lack of food, sea storms, etc.
Those who are safe and secure in their salvation in Jesus, have nothing to fear. Be at peace.
Great Comment!
God bless.
Thanks for that wonderful declaration.
God bless.
Sorry so late getting back to you, I'm traveling..
Now Addressing your questions to me. Yes I believe in the 10 Commandments and it seems I take them more seriously than you think, Maybe more seriously than you. I believe they are required and if you break even one of them once you are guilty of them all!! I also know no one ever have been able to keep them,
NOW WE COME TO CHRIST AND THE FINISHEDWORK ON THE CROSS.
In the context of my post did the Cross put an (total end )of sin in your life externally AND internally or Positionally? God is Holy and your righteous works have to be perfect!!
And yes every facet of the law with all ordinances and Commandments went together, It was called the ministration of Death, Study 2 Corinthians 3:6-18.
In true repentance you are admitting you fall short, A born again Christian has renewed desires to keep them, ( And by the Spirit he works towards doing so.)
But if we think one fraction of our filthy rags is atonement for our sins you just spotted your Garments!! ( White raiments).
Without Christ atonement you best not even lust in your heart and break one Commandment. AND THAT YOU CANNOT DO!.
The law pointed towards Christ because the 10 Commandments could never Change the inner Man.
Here's the center of the Lords Commandments. John 13:34-35.
Study John ch 13, 14, and 15.
When you get to Ch 15 The Lord opens up with ( I AM THE "TRUE" VINE.) Contuary to Israel who was the vine that was supposed to bare fruit and who the law was written to.
Note:
Matthew 22:36-40. Master, which is the great commandment in the law?
Jesus said unto him, Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind.
This is the first and great commandment.
And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself.
On these two commandments hang all the law and the prophets. YOU CAN'T DO THIS APART FROM CHRIST.
God bless. I will continue when I get back in town.
The Gospel of Mark (6:3) and the Gospel of Matthew (13:55-56) mention James, Joseph/Joses, Judas/Jude and Simon as brothers of Jesus, the son of Mary. The same verses also mention unnamed sisters of Jesus.
