Hi Merlene When the Bible talks about the Hope of the Return of Christ it is in relationship to the gathering together for the saints. That event is strictly on Gods Time table. It cannot be prayed for, it cannot be believed for, we can't pray for it to happen sooner but it is our fantastic guarantee that our lord and saviour is coming back to raise us up with perfect bodies talk about an event to look for forward to.

My question is 'the day of Genesis 1.5 is 24 hours or long period of time'
  • Dianne - In Reply on 1 Corinthians 13 - 4 years ago
Hi Marlene When God in the bible says Hope it is in regards to the return of Christ which we cannot believe or pray or act in any way to make it occur any faster, it will happen in Gods time table. Example you can pray to and ask for a better job that's possible, we can pray for someone to be healed that's available, you can pray even for people to have a change of heart. But what's known as the Hope of the return which is future that's Gods guarantee of our Glorious departure from this world, in new bodies I might add.

Thank you so much for your response. I was mainly confused as to why my bible stated Josh 14:10 to Matt 3:1 and I to thought maybe it was the wilderness reference but just wanted to make sure I wasnt missing something. However your explanation helped a lot to broaden my thoughts on it. Many thanks for taking the time to assist me. Blessings to you.

Is man a perfect creature? In relation to what we see in the Garden of Eden ,yes.

Satan wants us to "be as God"? Being as God is much different than being God! Being God is being perfect in His being, in all His perfection!

Being "as" God is quite a step down, even too the ground! The distance between heaven and earth, between earthy and heavenly! This earth the evil one slides on, who is cautious in all his ways.

Even in His innocence Man has been given a great freedom, to discern these things. Called thinking and reasoning.

Mans disobedience to himself is what brought the great mistake we see today. The separation from His very being! This being a true being, eternal, perfect and everlasting! Being is the creation, it is truly the Father of us ALL!

This same Father you hear and see now, whom u rejected has now spoken through the Son. This Son who spirit is Alive given to all who trust Him.

This same spirit that was from the beginning, and exists even now. You see but u cannot see. You hear but you do not hear? How is it u do not perceive?

Acknowledging the Father is acknowledging yourself! Knowing who you are is knowing your being! If, you know these things, happy are ye!

This is an inheritance that no one can take away! The Father, the Son, the Holy Spirit are ALL ONE!

Repentance is needful! It is what leads us back to our being! Being one with the Father the Son ,the Holy Spirit!

Hi John. I saw your other comment to clarify this one here. Though just to clarify, the prophecy in Isaiah chapter 19 is prophecy of Egypt's downfall yet to be accomplished in the future & does not refer to the plagues it suffered in Exodus chapter 7 onwards. I was concerned that you may have got that confused - hopefully not. Blessings.

Hi Christine. I'm unsure how you want to make the connection between those passages, as the person & work of both John the Baptist & Joshua were very different. The only common word in those Scriptures, is 'wilderness', so was wondering whether you wanted to know more about that & if there was any connection.

In Joshua 14:10, Joshua was recalling how the Lord had sustained him during the wilderness wanderings. The wilderness he speaks of are two separate ones: the Wilderness of Zin & the Wilderness of Paran: both on the Sinai peninsula.

When we read of John the Baptist in Matthew 3:1, "preaching in the wilderness of Judaea", (over 200 miles North of the other wildernesses) & this area is bounded by the mountains East of Jerusalem, Bethlehem, Jericho, etc. & West of the Dead Sea. So when JtB came preaching 'repentance', he covered much of this area & then was found baptizing in the Jordan River. We're told in Matthew 3:5,6 that people actually left their cities to meet John, to hear his message & be baptized by him. Even the religious leaders were also intrigued by this man & went to see of what sort he was.

I hope this somewhat helps answer your question.

We won't know until we are in the afterlife ourselves. No one goes to heaven until they are judged on the day of judgment and that doesn't happen until Jesus comes and the dead rise. Until then the dead remain in sleep. Link

    Marlene,

Hope comes from the word ELPIS. The word hope is found in several places in the Bible. Romans 5:4 is one place. It says, "And patience, experience; and experience works out hope:"

You see, our hope is certain. Hope, Elpis in the Greek, does not mean a hope like wish, "I wish it will happen." It's an expectancy. You expect it to happen. You know it's going to happen.

When God proves Himself to us through all of our situations, that builds our hope because of experience in Christ.

And we see this in Romans Chapter 5, Verses 1 through 21 which speaks of the privileges of justification.

David, it depends on where and how it is used in scripture. Metaphorically or Spiritually? The Heb. meaning is simply "heights" the Jewish belief is a 3-part: (A) the firmament, Gen.2:19, 7:3,23, Ps. 8:8, (B) "the starry heavens", Duet. 17:3, Jer.8:2, Matt. 24:29, and (C) "the heavens of heavens or the 3rd heaven", Duet. 10:4, 1 Kings 8(or) 6 (forgive me I can't remember) somewhere around verse 25-27, Ps. 115:16, 148:4, and Paul mentions it in 2 Cor. 12:2. Another def. is: a future dwelling place for the righteous. Hope this helped. God Bless.

If there is anyone in here that thinks Biden should extend the August 31 due date to get all Americans out of Afghanistan, decisively and with intent of purpose?

Thank you Chris and Dianne I think I'll just leave it alone I've done enough damage already!(lol!). My Pastor just said the other day in church that we could not laugh at ourselves sometimes we probably need to reevaluate our relationship with God. I think I'm well balanced not only can I laugh at myself I pretty much can get other people to laugh at me also! Thanks again, God Bless!
  • DOING WHAT AMERICANS DO Be United in Heart - 4 years ago
This comment room can make a difference because it reaches into other countries. It's an attempt to help the Soldiers and trapped Americans in Afghanistan.

On YouTube (phone) pick a news site and go into COMMENTS; and log in your protest of Joe Biden pulling the troops out early and leaving the Afghan AMERICANS behind because he's afraid of dealing with the Taliban.

They're making demands and killing people like they own this show. They Will Murder those people horrendously.

THESE ARE THE SAME TALIBAN THAT DROVE AIRPLANES INTO THE TOWERS OF 9/11.

You should hear from returned soldiers what the Taliban does to women, children and animals. They are inhuman.

Biden should show grit and force and send in protection soldiers with authority to run these murderers out of the area

Until all Americans are transported. Until it's Done.

I don't know what voices Biden listens to, but it is not one with a conscience. He's scared. He doesn't think about the 5000 PEOPLE WHO DIED ON 9/11 and their left behind families.

Mention facts and don't scold. Represent God. Tell others on this 24th day, to put their opinion on Youtube also. Network News reads them.

ABC, NBC, CBS, EPOCH TIMES, ACLJ, CNN etc.

Pray hard that we do not lose Americans over this inability for our Government to act decisively. We only have until Aug 31.

    George,

I did not intend to make it confusing. I do see where it could be a little confusing when looking at those verses in Chapter 3, especially in verse 23 where it says "before faith came." That's speaking of Christ. You are correct there. There are places in the New Testament that say faith "in" Christ, but in the Greek text it's says faith "of" Christ. It's His faith.

I know that seems confusing because we are told in chapter 5 that faith is a fruit of God's Spirit. So does faith come from God's Spirit, or from Christ? To better understand it, whether I hear someone say the Spirit of God, the Spirit of Christ, or the Holy Spirit, it's all the same Spirit to me. It's the same as saying that Christ lives in me, the Holy Spirit lives in me, or God lives in me. When we receive God into our lives, we receive Him in His fullness. And it is His Spirit in us that persuades us to function according to His will. That is faith!

Hopefully I haven't made this more confusing?

Nevermind I answered my own question, I just didn't pay attention to how it was worded, It says it right there, This is a Prophecy ( therefore meaning before it happened it was foretold) Sorry, I should have paid a little more attention to what I was reading. Have a Blessed Day!
  • Genesis 3:15 THERE WAS A PLAN IN PLACE TO DESTROY SATAN - In Reply - 4 years ago
3:15 And I will put enmity between thee and the woman. The inferior creatures being made for man, it was a curse upon any of them to be turned against man, and man against them. And this is part of the serpent's curse. A perpetual reproach is fastened upon him. Under the cover of the serpent he is here sentenced to be, (1.) Degraded and accursed of God. It is supposed, pride was the sin that turned angels into devils, which is here justly punished by mortifications couched under the mean circumstances of a serpent, crawling on his belly, and licking the dust. (2.) Detested and abhorred of all mankind: even those that are really seduced into his interest, yet profess a hatred of him. (3.) Destroyed and ruined at last by the great Redeemer, signified by the bruising of his head; his subtle politics shall be all baffled, his usurped power entirely crushed. A perpetual quarrel is here commenced between the kingdom of God, and the kingdom of the devil among men; war proclaimed between the seed of the woman, and the seed of the serpent, Rev 12:7. It is the fruit of this enmity, (1.) That there is a continual conflict between God's people and him. Heaven and hell can never be reconciled, no more can Satan and a sanctified soul. (2.) That there is likewise a continual struggle between the wicked and the good. And all the malice of persecutors against the people of God is the fruit of this enmity, which will continue while there is a godly man on this side heaven, and a wicked man on this side hell. A gracious promise is here made of Christ as the deliverer of fallen man from the power of Satan. By faith in this promise, our first parents, and the patriarchs before the flood, were justified and saved; and to this promise, and the benefit of it, serving God they hoped to come. Notice is here given them of three things concerning Christ. (1.) His incarnation, that he should be the seed of the woman. (2.) His sufferings and death

Hi my name is John and I wanted to ask a question about the book of Isaiah chapter 19. Was it written before the plagues were set on Egypt or After?
  • Fred - In Reply on Psalms 71 - 4 years ago
Waiting is always hard to do! The holy spirit reveals himself through the word. As simple as that may seem, we need to be ready to receive Him. Frustrating the spirit is what we do. Our nature is always contending with the world. U may find someone who is living in the spirit, I know if it were not for the Holy spirit I would not be doing His will. The Holy spirit is a person, Jesus called him the comforter. Study to show thyself approved. I wonder how the early church with little word, other than word of mouth, how they grew in faith? Fellowship with those who believe in the resurrection of Christ and sharing the comforter is always a good way to learn.

    Brother Spencer,

I suppose those two verses can be tied in. Verse 21 says a man therefore purge, and that's the word cleanse. If a man cleanse himself from these things, that is, these iniquities, he shall be a vessel for honor,

Three things: Having been sanctified, and that's the word set apart. When we receive Christ, He places His Spirit in us and sets us apart for His purposes. And meet, or more literally useful, for the master. And thirdly: prepared unto every good work. And the word good is Agathos which has to do with spiritual good. This type of good is produced by God's Spirit. Man cannot produce Agathos.

The one who comes for cleansing and confessing his/her sins, will be a vessel of honor, set apart by God for His use, and prepared for every good work that God has for them.

I kind of look at it as coming to Christ not only as an empty vessel, but a broken one needing to be mended (KATARTIDZO). It is Christ who cleanses us, sets us apart for His purposes, and continues to mend us each and every day. We just need to confess to Him that we are broken and submit to His mending process!

    Brother Jesse

I'm not sure if empty vessels is as fitting as Paul put it here in

2 Timothy 2:20-21. But in a great house there are not only vessels of gold and of silver, but also of wood and of earth; and some to honour, and some to dishonour.

If a man therefore purge himself from these, he shall be a vessel unto honour, sanctified, and meet for the master's use, and prepared unto every good work.

    God bless.
