A great example of any man made religion is Jeremiah 2:13, Our God is a fountain of living water religion is nothing but broken cisterns, also God was talking to His People We have the fountain through Jesus Christ.

  • James Reardon - In Reply on Revelation 1 - 4 years ago
    Chris,

Not so, KJV has accounts of "Jehovah" being used:

    Psalms 83:18

That men may know that thou, whose name alone is JEHOVAH, art the most high over all the earth.

    Isaiah 12:2

Behold, God is my salvation; I will trust, and not be afraid: for the LORD JEHOVAH is my strength and my song; he also is become my salvation.

    Exodus 6:3

And I appeared unto Abraham, unto Isaac, and unto Jacob, by the name of God Almighty, but by my name JEHOVAH was I not known to them.

    Isaiah 26:4

Trust ye in the LORD for ever: for in the LORD JEHOVAH is everlasting strength:

Phillip Paul in the epistles addresses the believers as saints those God separated out of the darkness of this world and into the glorious gospel of redemption and salvation. We are called this in all the church epistles, I'll believe what God Says

Glenn I've always considered religion as mans way of getting to God works ,works, works, Jesus Christ was God way of Getting the Family a Father wanted Grace,Grace,Grace. It's interesting that the first time in the scripture that God is called a Father is by Jesus Christ, from what i've seen. Best definition I've ever heard of grace was divine unmerited favour God to man.

That was a very good observation, TJ. I never picked up on it before. Looking at the Hebrew for both 'blemish' & 'spot', it shows up as exactly the same word, whereas, as you observed, in 1 Peter 1:19, two different Greek words are used.

Others may have a better answer, but I would think that in 1 Peter 1:19, they are separate words found & used in Greek, whereas the Hebrew has the one word that covers 'blemish, spot, defect'. It would be difficult to find much difference between those words & therefore it wouldn't raise an issue in my understanding.

The holy spirit has no parameters. Even so sister in Christ! The blessed assurance we have in these last days, while the spirit moves even upon an unbelieving world. God Bless while you seek Him, finding consolation in the love of Christ.

Do u think Paul had suffered from dehydration? I do think asking the speculative question helps to confirm my faith. I helps understand the works of God? How he works using his creation and the conscience of man to achieve His outcome . It is ok to be the devils advocate? Ananias, must had heard He was on His way, after all, Paul was slaughtering people! The holy spirit spoke to Ananias, Ananias saw this as an opportunity to convert this man and give peace to the church. Love the KJV!

Hi Vivnce. As Adam as shared the link, you will find that the Name Jehovah does appear in the KJV. However, I think what you might be referring to is that the JW Bible (New World Translation) shows "Jehovah God", when our KJV shows it as "LORD God".

So if you look at this example: Genesis 2:4 in the KJV: "These are the generations of the heavens and of the earth when they were created, in the day that the LORD God made the earth and the heavens", then in their NWT Bible, it will read as, "This is a history of the heavens and the earth in the time they were created, in the day that Jehovah God made earth and heaven."

Maybe this is what the JW you spoke to was referring about this change. They use 'Jehovah', & we have it as 'LORD' (in capitals), though 'Jehovah' does appear as a word four times in the Old Testament of the KJV.

I always bless the Mayo bottle before I open it.

At least once a day if not more, I remind Satan and his demons WHERE they are going.

Jesus never talked to them. He just said GO! Once he did ask one it's name (Legion). He knew. He just wanted them to know they were all about to be surfing the dunes on the planet Mars.

I'll tell this one testimony. I got home from Sunday night church, was getting ready for bed. The ceilings were 12 feet high. I looked over inside the closet, and there was a vision of a demon standing in it. It was 10ft tall and wide as a deep freeze. It looked like compacted roots It was trying to scare me! I rebuked it by the power and authority of Jesus's Name, and said LEAVE! It left. I had never seen one manifest.

They have no right to trouble a child of the living God. Jesus showed us how to respond. That's why we memorize scripture. IT IS WRITTEN_____________ IN JESUS NAME.

I'll keep telling this to everyone: Angels hearken to the spoken word of God; whether it be a radio ministry program or just some nice praise music. :D

    Make a joyful sound!

    Phillip Parsons,

I'm glad you mentioned this. From my experience, a Christian will latch on to ideas presented to them, take ownership of the ideas, and made it part of their world view. Removing this concept is not easily done, as the mind refuses to let go.

This happens in many religions and spheres of life, and students may feel special for their "knowing", and never look back their whole lives.

Does it matter we study ourselves and get it right: Yes.

The Jehovah Witnesses took Jehovahs name out of THEIR Bible. When you buy a Bible or adopt one from Goodwill, check who Published that Bible.

I had a couple of really nice J.W.'s ladies come by my place for 4 months. They listened to my Testimony, miracles that I've seen, stories of when I was a Street Minister in several cities.

    Stories I've got.

Their drive to make converts is like granite. It would be by Divine Intervention and a lot of prayer and fasting; that the Word might penetrate their hearts.

I was as lost as anyone could be. I know that God makes house calls. I'll never get tired of thanking Him for that. Let's step out onto the water like Peter did, and ask God to save some more Jehovah Witnesses.

By the Blood of the Lamb, and by the Word of our Testimony, they can hear us. The Jews have been blinded and their ears can't hear Jesus. A day will come when the deaf will hear and the eyes will see. Have faith and see the Salvation of our Lord.

Hello, have you tried searching for it in the KJV? Link

Since it's in the Bible it would be hard to argue that it was taken out.

    Thanks Dianne,

I think we spend a lot of time trying to do things our way, trying to get down off that cross. It's like our motors are always running. When I see a picture of a sailboat, it always ministers to my heart. It reminds me that it's time to turn the motor off, hoist up the sail, and go wherever the wind takes you. That to me is what it means to follow Christ!
  • Jesse - In Reply - 4 years ago
    Thanks brother Chris,

    That is a beautiful analogy!

I think it's important to always keep in mind that our proper position is always behind Christ. We are to follow Him. That is a believers top priority, just as in Luke 9:51-56 where we see the priority of Jesus when it was time for Him to go to the cross, He steadfastly set his face to go to Jerusalem! The word steadfastly means a fixed established position. When it was time to go and die, He was fixed to go to Jerusalem. You couldn't get Him off track. This is probably where Paul got his ministry. In Philippians, when he strives for the high calling in Christ Jesus, he has got one thing in mind, one direction in where he heads, and that is the mission for which Christ has sent him for.

Even if a Christian doesn't know what special ministry, or kind of ministry, or even what area God will have you work in, you only have one thing to be fixed on, and that is to grow in the grace and knowledge of your Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. Following behind Christ should be our established fixed position. And just as Jesus had His eyes fixed toward Jerusalem, so should our eyes be fixed on Christ.

Thank you Lord for Your Words of grace that you give to me and all who are saved to worship and glorify you. May we walk in Your integrity and praise You consistently.

Let us put on the new man, according to scripture, and put off the old man, according to scripture.

Bless all the brethren and those in authority to govern with godly wisdom.

God bless all the saints around the world. August 2, 2021.
