Regarding Acts 15:1 -- circumcised after the manner of Moses. Does that mean following the 10 Commandments?
Think about it.
I call that good news :D
I never feel alone. Don't feel old and out of date.
And when I smile everyone looks at me like: What are you so happy about? and then I tell them..Jesus, only Jesus!
Revelation 21:1 Bible Commentaries
Most all of the commentaries are by "famous" Bible scholars. This website has a commentary link too. Generally by Matthew Henry or Orioles Bible.
Or do the same thing and type in History, or Meaning or Teaching
It means, God With Us
1 Corinthians 15:22
For as in Adam all die, even so in Christ shall all be made alive.
1 Corinthians 15:45
And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit. (Jesus)
1 Corinthians 15:47
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
Hebrews 10
9 Then said he, Lo, I come to do thy will, O God. He taketh away the first, that he may establish the second.
10 By the which, will we are sanctified through the offering of the body of Jesus Christ once for all.
Isaiah 7:14: "Therefore the Lord himself shall give you a sign; Behold, a virgin shall conceive, and bear a son, and shall call his name Immanuel." It is true, that Immanuel is a Proper Name, but as I understand the significance of this prophecy, it was given as a sign to King Ahaz of Judah that before this Child (Immanuel) would be a little boy, the land & people who conspired to attack Judah would be made desolate & destroyed.
So the impact of this sign to Ahaz was that firstly, God would enable a virgin to conceive, & secondly, that the Child's Name would signify that this was no ordinary babe that has arrived by no ordinary birth. His coming would be that 'God is now with us', or in the Hebrew, "with us, is God". So, I don't believe that the name Immanuel was to become Jesus' Name, but that by inference, the Name would signify the Presence of God now with His people. For example, one could exclaim: this is Jesus Christ, our Immanuel!
In Matthew 1:21-25, we see the fulfillment of this prophecy, as the angel proclaimed to Joseph that this Babe will be named Jesus, fulfilling the prophecy of Isaiah of Immanuel's coming, i.e. the arrival of God in human form. To give this meaning further support, we could consider Isaiah 9:6, where we read that this coming One would be called, "Wonderful, Counsellor, The Mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace". See also Jeremiah 23:5,6 (a righteous Branch, The Lord our Righteousness). In very Truth, Jesus was the embodiment of all these Divine attributes, but no one in Israel ever called Him by any of those names. So these names, as also Immanuel, can be understood to be representative of Who this Jesus is: truly God & now called Jesus the Messiah, the Son of God in His incarnation. The Lord bless you in your reading & understanding of His Word.
Some words came too me in happyness over. I have begun on the road to my hevenly Father.
If i dont have Jesus i have darkness, and a sorrowful eval day.
If the day is foggy, the light You Jesus give me, will always shine. The ppl are Yours but your grace have give me a service to bring the word of God out to the blinded and stonehearting ones. Am do my services in Your name and pray that all i meet will be safe for eternity. That they'll belive in You Jesus Christ.
If i walk in the name of Jesus my foot will not touch any harm, and ill not afraid for anything. You i can fear dear Lord. My heart is full of light, and Now one can turn off that light. It will shine bright thru the darkest times, if i climb down on my knees and pray. He the Lord Jesus came and set me free! He is overwhelminly gracious.
Who cares for me, if not You my Lord and Savior. Romans chapter 3.
So, if the Bible declares some uncomfortable disturbing facts in our minds (as in Exodus chapter 11 & many other Scriptures), we can rest assured that it was given for both an historical purpose & for our learning. From the example you gave, I learn how wicked man can be (as seen in Pharaoh & his henchmen). I also learn of God's Power to overrule the stubbornness of man & bring to nought the high-mindedness of Pharaoh (they were considered as supreme rulers or even gods). And I see the Mercy of God to save His people out of cruel bondage as He promised & that it took the death of all the firstborn in Egypt for the Pharaoh to finally let God's people leave.
Many folk, might only see the needless death of so many children & cattle, & that is tragic indeed. But many had to die, as they do today, because of the hard-heartedness & ineptness of their leaders. Many innocent people & children die because of wars, famines & diseases: & all these come upon us because we are sinners & we have raised our fists against the Almighty One instead of falling prostrate before Him in humbleness & repentance. If the Bible didn't relate the whole Truth of the matter, then we might be deluded to think that all is well with our souls & in the world, when in fact we need to know that there are repercussions for our sins & the wicked acts we do to others. Even as in 2 Peter 3:9 we read that the Lord is "longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance."
God's goal for man was fulfilled in Jesus. That is the reason He is called the "last Adam"-the first Adam failed so miserably. The Lord Jesus is also called the "second man," not the last man. God sent Him into the world to become a man, and He is the second one, because after Adam it says, "And Adam begot a son in his likeness." He was a sinner; and ever since, Adams have been sinners. All of us are Adams.
We come into this world as children of Adam. When we are born again we become children of God.
1 Corinthians 15:45-49. And so it is written, The first man Adam was made a living soul; the last Adam was made a quickening spirit.
Howbeit that was not first which is spiritual, but that which is natural; and afterward that which is spiritual.
The first man is of the earth, earthy: the second man is the Lord from heaven.
As is the earthy, such are they also that are earthy: and as is the heavenly, such are they also that are heavenly.
And as we have borne the image of the earthy, we shall also bear the image of the heavenly.
We've been Justified,
We're beeing sanctified.
One day we'll Glorified.
I Hope that helps.
God bless.
It's on mine also, This has been going on now for a while.
