You missed an important part of jesus' conversation. jesus asked peter 3x if peter loved him. each time peter said, yes, lord. but peter was grieved when jesus asked him 3x. apparently jesus thought peter's love was questionable.

after each question jesus said, feed my sheep.

so did peter truly love jesus?

did peter feed jesus' sheep? as jesus commanded him to? galatians 2:11-14 the apostle paul says: but when peter was come to antioch, i (paul) withstood him (peter) to the face, because he (peter) was to be blamed. for before that certain came from james, he (peter) did eat with the gentiles: but when they (certain others from james) were come, he (peter) withdrew and separated himself, fearing them (fearing god's sheep) which were of the circumcision. and the other jews dissemble likewise with him (with peter): insomuch that (even) barnabas also was carried away with their dissimilation.

but when i (paul) saw that they (peter and the others) walked not uprightly according to the gospel,

i said unto peter (who was to be blamed) - - -

peter walked not according to the gospel of jesus christ. peter did not feed jesus' sheep: he (peter) preferred to be with goats. peter feared jesus' sheep.

obviously peter (did not) love jesus.

apparently, jesus was right to be skeptical about peter's love for him.

jesus "knew" what was in peter's heart: before he asked peter.if he (peter) loved him.

This is the accommodation and application of the parable to the disciples of Christ, who whether ministers or private believers, are as servants, and should be as laborious as the ploughman, and the shepherd; and as their condition is, so their conduct should be like theirs: the employment of the ministers of the word lies in reading, prayer, meditation, and study; in preaching the word, and administering the ordinances; and in performing other duties of their office: and every private believer has business to do, which lies in the exercise of grace, as the work of faith, the labour of love and patience, of hope: and in the discharge of duty with regard to themselves, in their families, the church, and the world; and these servants should be continually employed; and when one work is done, another is to be taken in hand: saints should be always believing, hoping, waiting, loving, and doing one good work or another; as preaching or praying, reading, hearing, and doing acts of benevolence and charity; and God and Christ are to be served by them in the first place, and then themselves: but some that would be called the servants of Christ, mind their own bellies, and not the service of Christ at all; others in the service of Christ, seek nothing but themselves; others are for the serving themselves first, and then Christ; but the true servants of Christ, serve him in the first place, and seek first his righteousness, and his kingdom, and the honour of it, believing that all other things shall be added to them: and when these have done all that are commanded them, they are not to think their service thank worthy: as for instance, if the service be preaching the word, a man so employed ought to be thankful to God, that has bestowed ministerial gifts upon him, and makes his labours useful, and uses him as an instrument, to do much good to the souls of men, and for his glory, and has put such an honour upon him; but he is not to expect thanks from God, for diligence.

    Matthew Henry's Concise Commentary

7:8-16 Israel was as a cake not turned, half burnt and half dough, none of it fit for use; a mixture of idolatry and of the worship of Jehovah. There were tokens of approaching ruin, as grey hairs are of old age, but they noticed them not. The pride which leads to break the law of God leads to self-flattery. The mercy and grace of God are the only refuge to which obstinate sinners never think of fleeing. Though they may howl forth their terrors in the form of prayers, they seldom cry to God with their hearts. Even their prayers for earthly mercies only seek fuel for their lusts. Their turning from one sect, sentiment, form, or vice, to another, still leaves them far short of Christ and holiness. Such are we by nature. And such shall we prove if left to ourselves. Create in us a clean heart, O God, and renew a right spirit within us.
  • Can People in Heaven See Us On Earth - In Reply - 3 years ago
Hebrews 12:1 continues, "Let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us." Because of the faith and endurance of believers who went before us, we are inspired to stay the course in our own race of faith. We follow the examples of Abraham and Moses and Rahab and Gideon and etc.

Some people point to the rich man's mention of his brothers in Luke 16:28 as proof that departed souls (in Hades, at least) can see events on earth. However, the passage never says that the rich man could see his brothers; he knew he had brothers, and he knew they were unbelievers. Also, some people use Revelation 6:10 as a proof text: the tribulation martyrs call for God to avenge their deaths. Again, this passage says nothing about the martyrs seeing people on earth; it simply says that they knew they deserved justice and desired the Lord to take action.

The Bible doesn't specifically say that people in heaven cannot look down on us, so we can't be dogmatic. However, it is unlikely that they can. People in heaven are likely preoccupied with other things such as worshiping God and enjoying the glories of heaven.

Whether or not people in heaven can look down and see us, we are not running our race for them. We are not hoping for their approval or listening for their applause. Hebrews 12:2 keeps our focus where it belongs: "Fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith." Jesus is our blessed hope, no other ( Titus 2:13).

I think it's better to address our hopes and concerns to Jesus. Who ever lives to make intercessions for us.

    Hello Elle Aye,

From what I know, Islam teaches that Abraham is their religious forefather and "head" to Ishmael and that Abraham brought Ishmael to Mecca to worship there. So, Abraham is an intricate part of Islam as they believe the promise of God to Abraham was fulfilled through Ishmael and not Isaac.

So, Ishmael parted was with his Abrahamic family and married a Canaanite woman and fathered a dozen sons, which grew into the Arab peoples.

Isaac stayed with Abraham, received the blessing and promise of Abraham from God. Isaac's sons Jacob and Esau also were split up, Jacob being the son of the blessing and promise, and Esau being blessed, too but not carrying on the lineage of the promise. Esau left his family and married several foreign women. In subsequent generations, Ishmael and Esau's descendants intermarried.

    Good evening Ronald.

Thank you for sharing your thoughts with me concerning these creeds. Anytime a church puts out a statement of faith, the are telling what they believe to be true. In today's world, anytime a pastor, preacher, or teacher who speaks their own words about what they think Scripture means is speaking about what they believe to be true. Believers do not go around simply reciting Scripture to one another; we share what we think Scripture means. Across the centuries people have spoken (or written) truth properly aligned with Scripture and also spoken (or written) error in what they think a Scripture passage means or teaches. This pervades ALL of church and ALL believers across ALL of the centuries. So, for me, I want to examine my own ideas against Scripture as well as what I hear or read from others, whether ancient or contemporary.

By what you wrote, I gather that you do not believe in the Godhead as being One God in three Persons, or Three Persons in One Godhead. Otherwise called the Trinity. I do believe in the Godhead this way. I am sure that you have read the many posts on this in recent weeks that give Scripture to support the Trinitarian Godhead. So I will not reiterate those here because I feel fairly certain that you examined this topic repeatedly, as I have. We will just have to accept this topic as one we do not have a meeting of the minds on. It is good to know your thoughts on this.

God bless and have a good night.

It appears he's speaking to those who identified themselves as "children of Abraham" "under the Covenant" &/or self-righteous:

    Matthew 5:20, Matthew 7, Matthew 8:10,12, Matthew 23, Matthew 25:31-46, note also Matthew 23:34-36, * Matthew 21:23-46,

    Matthew 9:34, Matthew 11:12, Matthew 12:25, Matthew 13:57, Isaiah 53,

    Exodus 19:6, 1Samuel 13:13,14, 1Samuel 15:28,

    the promise made to David 2Samuel 7:12-17, 1Kings 9:5, 1Chronicles 22:9,10, 1Chronicles 28:7, Isaiah 9:7,

1Samuel 13:13,14, 1Kings 11:11-14, the Bible has in the past shown how GOD will reject those who reject HIM.

    Psalms 22:18,

    Hopefully these are helpful

    Hi Kay, thanks for asking.

I am doing very well. Got all of my stitches out earlier this week and doctor says I can begin walking on my foot unassisted! it hurts a little but walking will aid in healing and restoring flexibility. I can go up and down stairs upright now!

My hand is improving day by day. I can now type two handed! My grip is not too strong yet and gets tired and painful at times, but working it helps reconnect communication between the tissues in my hand and improves flexibility.

Today was a warm sunny day. I am itching to get out and garden, but cannot wear regular shoes yet. I wear oversized slippers so my foot won't get squeezed and hurt. I am hoping I can get back to regular shoes in a week or so.

I am very pleased with my progress. The Lord is giving me quick healing, better than I thought! My husband is still doing many things for me, but i want to try to do more for myself now. Shall see if he :lets me". HaHa.

It is good for him to care for me. Couples need to do this as we age so that we can trust our spouse to do well with us when the time comes that we need more care. So, he is practicing up. I am pretty much a "caregiver" type of person, so he is in good hands with me, should he have need of more care from me.

    Hello Enid.

Yes, It is said of David that he was a man after God's own heart. From reading the account of his life, it seems that he was a man who sinned like all of us, but came to God repentantly for mercy regularly. He was a devout believer in God. Scripture, on the whole speaks well of David.

Scientists all agree that only CONIES survived an extinction level event. They found their remains. Carbon dating NOT the same as Dinosaurs.

They survived on the water of the plants that grew under rocks, in their habitats.

    Proverbs 30:26

    The conies are but a feeble folk, yet make they their houses in the rocks;

    Psalms 104:18

The high hills are a refuge for the wild goats; and the rocks for the conies.

  • HIS STORY__JESUS CHRIST__AND TIME - In Reply - 3 years ago
Archaeology, carbon dating show us earth is older than 6000 years. Scripture too. Use the Search Box and type: Conies. When earth was hit with an asteroid, scientists say little Coney type creatures were underground and survived. It's interesting.

Astronomers today have seen LAKE BEDS on every planet. All are dry lake beds except earth; we have abundant fresh water for people and creatures.

Some scriptures say God turned the world upside down. You need study Reference Bibles, to track connecting references to other scriptures of a same or like, event.

What would kill all living creatures (like dinosaurs all at the same time?

Where did preHISTORIC people remains come from?

I mean no offense when I say: what is wrong with us starting at Genesis 1:1. Flip to Romans 1:18-25

For Genesis students, the first thing God created is TIME. It's well hidden, but original Hebrew said: In Beginning

Writers, inserted THE, so our English minds could follow the thought.

    God said, LIGHT BE.

Rather than debate it, fight and confuse others with proper english_observe what God is saying and doing. He wants us to know.

    Genesis 1:1

    The Father purposes

The Word (Jesus) speaks. ( John 1:1)

The Spirit (Holy Spirit) executes the spoken word. Action.

FOUR THINGS scientists seek to explain:

    TIME, FORCE, ACTION, MATTER

They've never proved TIME. Who told me? The Holy Spirit. I went through a lot of Hebrew books till I found one that said: in beginning. That's Word enough for me. If the Holy Spirit says it; it's truth. He was there.

I truly hope this will free us, to move along to all of the books of the Bible. We're are in the events Christ spoke of In Matthew 24 and Luke 21; 2 Peter 3; Revelation.

Time and this Bible is totally about JESUS CHRIST. It's his story. We will be judged according to how we've lifted Him up and told others His Story.

Why didn't the Angels just take Lot and leave his wife and daughters behind? The husbands of the daughters chose to stay.

The wife "looked back" (symbolic of yearning for the old way of life) and was turned into a pillar of salt.

The daughters, who had just been pulled out of Sodom by the hands by Angels, didn't have enough faith to believe God would find them husbands, and seduced their father.

"Abraham believed God and it was reckoned to him as righteousness."

Jesus said, "....blessed are those who believe but have not seen."

How could people be so faithless when they've seen God or Jesus in action?????

    USING THIS WEBSITE SEARCH BOX=

When you come into this website you're on the LINK PAGE.

Up at the top is the SEARCH BOX. Links for the entire Bible is below that.

It's a really great SEARCH ENGINE, but just for Bible subject.

You can put the word 'Atonement' in the box and hit the arrow >

The engine will fetch every scripture that contains that word. You can sort the list; and the engine places the list in book order.

Or you can read either Old Testament verses only

    Or, New Testament verses only

With DATES OR HISTORY, you'll have to go on Google. Type it in like this:

    "Atonement, history".

By using all the search options, you'll learn some really awesome information. If search doesn't fetch anything try wording it differently.

If it fetches 10,000 verses; try wording it another wAy or just look at only OT or NT verses.

Look around on this whole website to see what's in it. If you get lost, just back out and come back in. Curious is good.

The location of the commentary box is below the search box. Touch a scripture and it will highlight Yellow. Scroll down slowly.

Apostle Paul was jailed frequently. Apostle John was stuck on an island most of his life: but he wrote the Book of Revelation for us.

Social Media teaches us to be Reactionary; favorably or unfavorably. We need to FOLLOW JESUS, as He said. Live Jesus.

There's a new movie on YouTube. Search BLESSON. The movie subject is "Biblical End Times."

It's scripture. No dialog. Since it is dealing with reality in this time period we live in; it's violent. It fully represents true believers, versus false prophets and false believers.

A little over 1 hour. Last 2 minutes: heaven.

It covers the Bema Seat of Christ. Great White Throne Judgment. Satan in hell 1000 years; and then in the Lake of Fire.

I've never seen anything like this. It makes you want to warn people of the coming Judgments. Some people will think God is mean. The Bible has been around 6000 years. We were warned. Prophesy is unfolding.

Only 1 hour+ you may want to share it with friends. If you don't like it, just don't watch it.
  • Pharisees and Sadducees - In Reply on John 3 - 3 years ago
Pharisees were members of a party that believed in resurrection and in following legal traditions that were ascribed not to the Bible but to "the traditions of the fathers." Like the scribes, they were also well-known legal experts: hence the partial overlap of membership of the two groups.

According to Josephus, whereas the Sadducees believed that people have total free will and the Essenes believed that all of a person's life is predestined, the Pharisees believed that people have free will but that God also has foreknowledge of human destiny.

The Sadducees refused to go beyond the written Torah (first five books of the Bible) and thus, unlike the Pharisees, denied the immortality of the soul, bodily resurrection after death, and-according to the Acts of the Apostles (23:8), the fifth book of the New Testament-the existence of angelic spirits.

    What Jesus said about Pharisees?

"Woe to you, teachers of the law and Pharisees, you hypocrites! You shut the kingdom of heaven in men's faces. You yourselves do not enter, nor will you let those enter who are trying to."

John 3. Jesus's teaching to Nicodemas
