Hi every one . Any one who has any doubts about the validity of water baptism today , PLEASE read Acts Ch 8 very carefully . In V 16&17 we see that the Holy Spirit was given by the act of laying on of hands by the apostles , a separate thing to water baptism . Also in V 26 we see that the Spirit expressly sent Philip to a certain place with the only purpose to baptize some one by full emersion in water , I say it again ! Philip was sent by the Spirit , to a specific place in order to baptize some one by full immersion in water ! The whole chapter is very clear and how any one can disregard what it is teaching us , me and you , is beyond me . Faith without works ? We express our faith by doing what we are told to do by God through His messengers . Read this chapter carefully pleeeeease .

Could you provide me with the Hebrew transliteration of Song of Solomon Ch 5 V 16? I was listening to it the other day and I did not hear the words that are presented here as translation.

Who is chapter 5 talking about in such praise as is apparent in verses 9 - 16?

    Best regards,

    Dr. Ir. James Hops

Is there scripture in the Bible that talks about drug use and people who choose them and get addicted to them like (Meth). ? Or, people who can't get away from the addiction and all the evil that follows? Or people who know God, and became addicted? This is in regards to a 32 year old who was raised Christian. Or even more helpful ..Family that continue to help and rescue him and divisions this causes. Thank you!

...Jacob needed to follow God's way without outside influence. He traveled southwest to Succoth and built a residence there with shelters for his animals. This indicates he settled there for a time. Some time later, he crossed the Jordan, due east, to Shechem. He was now in Canaan. He built a residence there and bought this land form the family of Hamor. It was near the city. He built an altar there. In all of this time, these 20 years, God had kept Jacob safe in his journeys, blessed him with success in his endeavors and with wealth. He had guided him to Haran to the fields of Laban. He had secured Jacob both Leah and Rachel for wives, blessed him with 11 sons and a daughter, an amicable departure from Laban, and night of wrestling with God, a new name, and a peaceful reunion with his brother. Was Jacob now ready to call God by the name of God of Israel? Yes, he was. El Elohe Israel means: "God, the God of Israel". Jacob now accepted the True God as his God, the God of Israel, completing the process that began in Bethel and the dream/vision of the ladder to heaven. God proved Himself to Jacob, drawing Jacob to put his faith in Him. That took 20 years.

Jesus was baptized in Matthew 3:11 thru 17. He said it must be done to fulfill "all righteousness."

The apostle Paul was baptized in Acts 9:6 thru 17! It says in verse 6 that he (Paul) would be told what he MUST do.

In 1st Peter 3:21 the scriptures say "baptism doth also now save us....it is the answer of a good conscience toward God."

Why does mankind delibertly refuse to accept baptism as necessary to have their sins forgiven?

....He is in need of God's help. In this instance, instead of God initiating the interaction by appearing to him and speaking to him first, Jacob calls on God in prayer for help in facing a perceived adversary. He has realized the he does not need to wait on God to show up, but he can go straight to God and get a response. This is a challenge of his faith, "will God answer my prayer?"

I noticed that Jacob was willing to stay all night in camp seeking God's help even though his family has gone ahead. So by morning, his family is 8+ hours ahead of him. And, as a result of the wrestling match, he has a limp from where God touched his thigh. He will be walking more slowly for the rest of his life. He will be constantly reminded of the night of wrestling with God. He will always know that God is stronger than him. He will also know that God is with him adn only a prayer away.
  • GiGi on Genesis 32 - 3 years ago
Jacob has been traveling south along the east side of the Jordan river. As he approaches the land of Seir (Edom) where Esau lives, Jacob considers what may become of meeting up with Esau after all of these 20 years. Although Jacob holds no animosity towards Esau, he figures Esau is probably still angry with him, perhaps remembering how Esau was when they grew up together for 40 years. Jacob's group was very large. He wanted to make sure that Esau knew that they are a peaceful group, not hostile or warriors. He also wanted Esau to know who he was. This gives time for both of them to prepare for a meeting. Jacob is anticipating problems, so he sends droves of livestock ahead with servants to give to Esau as a gift, hoping to soften Esau's demeaner toward Jacob and his family. That final night, after the livestock are on their way, he send his wives and children.

I have always wondered why he sent family ahead of him. Did he think Esau would see his family members and feel family affection? Did he send them away so he could be alone with God in prayer? The night Jacob wrestles with a strong man all night. Perhaps this can be likened to persevering in prayer until one gets an answer. I wonder at what point Jacob realized he was wrestling with God and not a human adversary? By the morning neither had prevailed over the other. Jacob would not stop wresting God until God blessed him. God did, changing his name from Jacob to Israel which does indicate a change in character for him. Now he would be a prince among men. At the end of the encounter, he asks God to tell him His name and God does not grant His request. I wonder why? Maybe Israel was not yet ready to know God by Name yet.

It is interesting that when he prayed to God before this event that Jacob admits his need for God's help an that any blessing he has received is undeserved and he is unworthy of being so blessed. He is humbled and finally realizing he is not the force or strength behind his successes.

.......explaining she is having her monthly period, Jacob pretty much lights in to Laban, recounting how Laban did not treat him in good faith and Jacob had not done Laban wrong all these 20 years., recounting how well the flocks have prospered under his shepherding. He attests that God, who was his grandfather's God and his father's God (the Fear of Isaac is a name for God) has been with him none of that would have happened. He didn't claim God as his own at this time.

Then Laban has his turn at speaking to Jacob, claiming that the wives and children belong to him, along with the flock. he is unwilling to let go and keep his end of the bargain. He obviously wanted Jacob to stay in Haran and keep his family near him, though he had other sons. So Laban suggests a covenant. Laban seems to make the terms of the covenant, having Jacob vow to treat his wives well and not add any wives. Then he vows that the pillar will be a boundary that neither will cross to harm the other. He calls God, (Abraham's, Naho's, and Terah) to be the judge or witness between them. Jacob swears by the same God as Laban (the Fear of Isaac, by name) Jacob offers a sacrifice to God (makes me wonder why Laban had household idols?) The share a meal, that evening and part ways in the morning on good terms.

After hearing Jacob's words to him, perhaps Laban realized that he had mistreated Jacob and therefore relented. Or maybe Jacob's sons were much older and stronger than Laban's sons, and he assessed the situation and made the wise choice to let Jacob leave. Maybe, having heard from God, Laban was beginning a journey with the True God then.

So, we shall see how the rest of the story turns out. I'm curious about the idols Rachel stole and kept hidden from Jacob?

    Baptism....

How does the Bible teach to get Baptized?

An unbeliver baptized a believer,is that Biblical? I don't go for the springling of water I believe the Bible teaches Jesus and many others were Baptized in water,. Read about the Lord's Baptism it says; and he came up out of the water.... Yes water does not change anything, but it's a symbol of death and resurrection, the old man being buried and the new man being raised to a new life.

Lord Jesus help us as ambassadors for Christ to represent the pure Gospel, and not mixed in opinion.

Many Believers say; does it really matter how Baptism is done?......

    In the verse: And these,

    1 Cor. 5:11

"But now I have written unto you not to keep company, if any man that is called a brother be a fornicator, or covetous, or an idolater, or a railer, or a drunkard, or an extortioner; with such an one no not to eat."

Why is the word "no" not spelled "know"?

IRAN had several large earthquakes today; like almost a 7. Wonder if it sets back their Nuke production?

I do not know why, but last night I searched YouTube about "this Mahdi" that the Palestinians talk about.

They pretty much say the same thing in every video. The Mahdi is the resurrected spirit of an ancient king? Who supposedly becomes Antichrist? They speak English just fine.

They never say Jesus's name but they talk around him. They're discussing His return. I have a bad feeling about that 85 billion in military equipment Biden left behind so he could just frustrate Donald Trump.

Then they put first, fighting against other Palestinians Groups FIRST. It sounded like the plan to unite 3 groups to March on Jerusalem?

Then I wonder if they're posting this on YouTube to distract the real purpose? Are they contacting the Palestinians that Biden just allowed to sneak over here on the Afghanistan exodus? I don't see Biden keeping anybody informed on this do you?

Are we going see violence from this? Like mall bombs etc. I hope not.

Jesus could return any time. You might look at the prophesy lectures (the one that's over 2 hours) on GEVTE (YouTube)

Hello all . Don't know if you are aware but there has been a climate conference in the city of Glasgow in Scotland very recently . I don't know if human activity is responsible for the rise in the earths temperature or not , but I know that God knew all about this from the begining ,2nd Peter Ch 3 , V 10-12 and especially Rev Ch 16 , V 9 : And men were scorched with great heat , and blasphemed the name of God , which hath power over these plagues : and they repented not to give Him the glory . I take this to mean that : men blasphemed God by denying that He has the power over all of His creation , to cause or stop this heat , and they (we) don't repent of their sinfullness and acknowledge Him and His power over all of His creation . Men refuse to acknowledge the power of God and instead go to Glasgow and make a great show of deciding how they are going to sort it out themselves . My Grandma had a saying : what makes God laugh ? When we tell Him our plans .

  • John on Psalms 1 - 3 years ago
Psalm 1 begins with this phrase: "Blessed is is the man..." "Man" is the Hebrew word ish, which normally means a man as a male distinct from a woman. Some modern translations appeal to "context" to claim that in Psalm 1:1 means a person, or anyone, or some such generic term. But aren't there are Hebrew words which would convey that more general meaning? The Holy Spirit inspired a singular, gender-specific word here, and I honestly don't understand how any human being can dare to amend or correct what God says. Similarly, in Psalm 1:1 some Bible versions make ish into a gender neutral plural word, even though -as Adam Clarke's commentary states- the Hebrew is emphatic that the sense here is "THAT man", that individual who does not follow the ungodly multitude. How can anyone obscure or deny this God-inspired emphasis and not tremble? Thank youfor considering my thoughts.

I have read all of the comments on this chapter. I appreciate everyone's contributions. This chapter picks up where the previous chapter left off, with Jacob pronouncing his blessing on Jacob, conferring to Jacob the blessing of the promise and covenant Isaac received from his father, Abraham. This is a transfer of the blessing from one person of the promise to another. It is very important. Jacob receives the blessing without hesitation. Ishmael must have overseen this event, as he knew that his father had told Jacob to go to the house of Bethuel to take a wife, not from the Canaanite women, as Esau had done. This must have stung Esau. It seems he went out to Ishmael's family to take a wife, so he, too, could perhaps please his father. So, now he had three wives and through them he fathered 12 sons. He was when he tookk his first two wives. It is unknown how much time had passed, or if he had any children yet.

In the last chapter, it says Rebekah was sending him away to escape Esau, but here, Isaac and Rebekah send Jacob off to Padan Aram with the charge to take a wife from Laban's household Jacob obeys and heads out from Beer-Sheba. Along the way he stops in the area north of what is now Jerusalem, a place called Luz. He takes stones to serve as pillows and beds down for the night. I assume that this is an open field on a hill. During the night, he has a dream from the Lord. It is interesting that the angels go up and down. someone asked, "What does that mean?" I really don't know, but perhaps it is to show that Lord is the open gateway between heaven and earth. Perhaps t announce a restoration of the two way interactions of Adam in the Garden with the Lord. This would make this a prophetic dream. the Lord stands at the top of the ladder. It does establish that the angels are lower beings than the Lord and they serve him, as we should. Perhaps this is a nod to Paul's warning against the worship of angels.

The Lord speaks to Jacob. He announces Who He is and

What useful purpose was served by letting the Demons posses the Swine and cause them to commit suicide? The poor pigs weren't hurting anyone and the swine herd suffered a financial loss through no fault of his own-and even in Old Testament times, non-Jews were not commanded to refrain from eating pork. This was one of the special strictures that only applied to God's chosen ones.

    Hi Dan.

Would you say plain people is one without the Holyspirit? if he has the Holyspirit he's not plain!! He has a helper and a truth revealer.

1 Corinthians 2:12-14. Now we have received, not the spirit of the world, but the spirit which is of God; that we might know the things that are freely given to us of God.

Which things also we speak, not in the words which man's wisdom teacheth, but which the Holy Ghost teacheth; comparing spiritual things with spiritual.

But the natural man receiveth not the things of the Spirit of God: for they are foolishness unto him: neither can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned. The Carnal mind can't understand what is written literal.

Here's The commandment Christ is speaking of-

John 15:12. This is my commandment, That ye love one another, as I have loved you.

And this is not done by you, It is the Holyspirit that causes you to Love by virtue. This is a fruit. You can't produce fruit, You bare it by being connected to the vine. The Law could never Change the inner Man. Fruitl is interior!

Here's the concept. Matthew 23:25-26. Woe unto you, scribes and Pharisees, hypocrites! for ye make clean the outside of the cup and of the platter, but within they are full of extortion and excess.

Thou blind Pharisee, cleanse first that which is within the cup and platter, that the outside of them may be clean also.

Jesus is not talking about the Law because noone has been able to keep the law if so there was no need of a mercy seat that pointed to Christ.

The law was given to Israel and there was no tolerance in keeping it. It was the ministry of condemnation. If you break one you broken them all and if you do it once you're forever lost if you're not covered by the Lambs blood.

    Colossians 2:13-14.

    Romans 7:10.

    Romans 7:11.

    Romans 7:12.

The first sabbath that was broken when the law was given a couple was stoned to death for gathering sticks.

    As plain as it gets.

    God bless.
