Question: Are the books of Matthew, Mark, Luke, and John in the New Testament written by divinity or are they simply written from recollection by the disciples from their experiences with Jesus?

Here's something I don't understand as a new christian. I was told that when I die , I'll go to heavan. But the bible says when JESUS comes back HE'LL call them from the grave first and then those who are left on earth next. How will HE call from the grave when we're already with him.

LEVITICUS chapter 11 - dietary laws

How does the advice on what to eat and what to avoid fit in with the New Testament ? Some say we are FREE to eat whatever we please as we are under Grace and not under the Law.

So am I allowed to consume pork or prawns for example?

Adam ,thankyou for sharing ,its nice to know a little bit about the people who are regular contributers to this sight ,im quite a private person and i dont find it easy to share ,however i will have a go ! This last 12 months has been a bit rough for all of us and ive had my ups and downs ,mostly downs but God has kept me smiling ,one thing i really enjoy is watching wildlife programmes on t.v. sometimes i get annoyed by the narration when they start talking about evolution and 20 milliond of years ago etc so i end up turning the sound off and just enjoying it with my eyes , looking at all the amazing and beautifull and perfect creatures that God created and i feel so much calmer ,to think that the God ,who so wonderfully made all this gorgeous and varied life with such attention to detail and obvious love ,that same and only God is my God ,my creator my sustainor my peace my sanity and my calmness ,why should i worry about anything ? He is every where and He knows and loves me and you and everone and He has a plan and i and you and every one else can be part of His plan . All we have to do is trust Him and not be afraid .

    Does God Change His Mind?

"God is not a man, that he should lie; neither the son of man, that he should repent: hath he said, and shall he not do it? or hath he spoken, and shall he not make it good?" Num 23:19

This was uttered by a pagan prophet who was prevented by God from pronouncing curses against Israel. It is truth.

Exodus 32 & 33 tell a compelling account of Israel rebelling against God and God expressing His anger in order to get across to us the level of anger and disappointment He had with them.

In 32:7-24 He says that He wants to destroy them and replace them with Moses and his descendants. But Moses intercedes for Israel and reminds God of His promises to Abraham Isaac and Jacob (AIJ). And finally, "And the LORD repented of the evil which he thought to do unto his people." Exo 32:14

God knew and planned all along that He would not utterly destroy them but fulfill His promises to AIJ.

Chapter 33 begins with God repeating His promise to AIJ. But He also said, "And I will send AN angel before thee;" Exo 33:2 not His own presence. In Exo 33:12-16 Moses intercedes for Israel and this gem, from the lips of The Lord is right in the middle.

"And He said, My Presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest." Exo 33:14

God gives us these instances where He appears to want to vent His wrath on sinners but then changes His mind, withholds justice and bestows unmerited grace. And as you read and study you will see that this is what God intended to do from the very beginning.

Although this promise was for Israel, wandering in the wilderness, Jesus is still the same.

"Let your conversation be without covetousness; and be content with such things as ye have: for He hath said, I will never leave thee, nor forsake thee. So that we may boldly say, The Lord is my helper, and I will not fear what man shall do unto me...Jesus Christ the same yesterday, and to day, and for ever." Heb 13:5-6,8
