In Isaiah 13:20 the Word says Babylon will never be inhabited again, yet it's present day Iraq with millions of people right? It doesn't sound like this is a future event in the text, but I'm wondering what else it could be.

Seeking in Scripture this morning attempting to discern through God's Holy Spirit Verse 10 where Jesus says on the back of the verse "nor yet staves;". Why did He use the word "yet" to the disciples? What was left for the Disciples to receive later but The Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit could be likened to a Stave, for doesn't one lean upon a stave? Doesn't one who is weak rely upon a staff to rest upon? And doesn't The Holy Spirit in Psalm 23 Verse 4 say of Jesus Himself saying "Thy Rod (Word) and Thy Staff (Spirit?) they comfort me."

Now throughout the Old Testament everywhere else, I find no reference of The Holy Spirit as a Staff only that of a wooden walking stick to rest upon. And in Mark 6:8 Jesus commanded " 'save' a staff only," here referring to a staff of wood to lean or rest upon when walking or standing. So what of the meaning of 'yet' and 'save' in each Gospel? So I am at a crossroads in my mind and must pray to Christ for discernment. If you desire to assist, feel free. Peace.

My question is, does Genesis 11:10 mean that Shem was 98 years old when the flood occurred as according to Genesis 11:10 Shem was an 100 years old, and begat Arphaxad 2 years after the flood?

According to Gen 5:32 ... Noah was 500 years old : and Noah begat Shem, Ham, and Japhet.

According to Gen 7:6 ...Noah was 600 years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth.

Which would mean that the boys were 100 years old when the flood of waters was upon the earth or am I missing something?

Perhaps the 9 months in the womb and some other months while in the arc, which would add up to 2 years that are missing? Or how do I understand "begot" at the time of conception or at the time of birth? Please advise and thank you in advance,

How do I get closer to God? I know the best way to get closer to him is reading his word. But I never know where to start or what book to read, and most of the time just end up confused. Jeremiah 23:5-6 is such an encouragement when we would despair because of all that is broken and hurting in our nation and world. The righteous Branch, from the lineage of David, the coming King who will reign and prosper, foresees Christ's second return. He will execute judgment and justice (just in Israel?) no..."in the earth," the whole earth. The whole creation groans and travails together in pain until now ( Romans 8:22) and only Christ's return will relieve it. My challenge is not to be overburdened by worry and fear for what is happening, but to endure and wait patiently for Him. He will be called THE LORD OUR RIGHTEOUSNESS, for we have no righteousness of ourselves.

Why does Genesis chapter 2 begin with GOD did then Switch the name to The LORD GOD? Later GOD is referred to as The Word. I'm aware John 1 refers to the WORD and GOD being the same. Why does Genesis 2 change names? Is GOD and Lord God refering different aspects or just interchangable names before Jesus became flesh?

Now compare the events in prophecy to Revelation 12. VS 2, She's travailing in birth pains, Isaiah 54:1-5. Is 66:7, ( BEFORE SHE TRAVAILED, SHE BROUGHT FORTH; BEFORE HER PAIN CAME, SHE BROUGHT FORTH A MAN CHILD.) Also look at Micah 4:10, and Micah 5:2-4. Revelation 12:14 say she was given 2 wings of a eagle, a phrase the Lord uses throughout the bible concerning Israel, Exodus 19:4' Isaiah 40:27-31. Deuteronomy 32:10-11. Look at Paul concerning the Israelites in Romans 9:5, "Whose are the fathers, and whom as concerning the flesh Christ came. THE WOMAN IS ISRAEL, Not the church. Daniel 2:43 is one of the most intriguing verses of the Old Testament. You say you are baffled with Judaism didn't believe Christ was the sent one. I am not baffled at all - it is crystal clear. Jesus fulfilled none of the requirements of messiah - where is world peace, where is knowledge of G-d in the whole world, where are the returned 10 tribes, where is the 3rd temple? Supposedly performing a few miracles is no criteria of messiah at all. He also transgressed many laws and went against the sages of the time. The list goes on and on.
