"God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth." Where do you worship? It must be special, for God, "dwelleth not in temples made with hands; neither is worshipped with men's hands..." Acts 17:24b-25a. "Howbeit the most High dwelleth NOT in temples made with hands." Acts 7:48 The 'place' we must worship is, "IN SPIRIT", found in the little community of TRUTH.

"He must increase, but I must decrease." vs30. See Jesus in the garden, "What, could ye not watch with me one hour? Watch and pray, that ye enter not into temptation: the spirit IS WILLING, the flesh is WEAK." Matt 26:40-41. The spirit is willing to resist temptation;but the flesh is weak in temptation. In fasting, our flesh weakens (decreases), our spirit strengthens (increases). We choose which.

The critical issue is "By what process are we born again? What happens?" And Ezekiel tells us "A new heart will I give you, and a new spirit will I put within you" Eze. 36:26. Being born again is having the Spirit of God, to enter into place of the spirit of man. "For what man knoweth the things of a man? even so, the things of God knoweth no man, but the Spirit of God." 1 Cor 2:11.

Hello Eutychus, WHERE IS MELCHIZADEK? Psalm 90:2 "from everlasting to everlasting, thou art God". Jesus is God, John 20:28, and therefore Melchizadek seems to be an Old Testament appearance of Jesus before He appeared in the New Testament as baby Jesus. Very, very deep.

Verse 29: Not even one sparrow could fall to the ground without Jehovah God knowing about it. We are worth more than sparrow so if God cares for these little creatures, how much more does he care about us?!

Will; Hebrews 11:3, "THROUGH faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear." Does it mean we will have access to the Universe that God created?

Yes,we already are heir to that thru faith in Jesus. But it goes further than that; with it, we please God. "But without faith it is impossible to please God" vs6

How can Paul equate Melchisedec to Jesus, who is God on earth among us???? Paul isn't equating Melchisedec to Jesus...he is drawing a comparison between their ministries, and their priesthoods. And Jesus' ministry and priesthood is superior. "By so much was Jesus made a surety of a better testament" vs 22. Melchizedec's ministry was temporal...Jesus' ministry is eternal, everlasting.

"Without father, without mother, without descent, having neither beginning of days, nor end of life; but made like unto the Son of God; abideth a priest continually." No beginning, no end of life...here is the mystery...regarding which I will not attempt an answer. WHERE IS MELCHIZADEK? If he has no end of days, he must be alive...where is he? On earth? In heaven? Where then is Melchizadek?

"That by two immutable things, in which it was impossible for God to lie, we might have a strong consolation." vs 18. WHAT ARE THE TWO IMMUTABLE THINGS, Paul is speaking of here? Don't know? Read carefully, to verse 12, of chapter 7. That verse names the two immutable things...The priesthood, and the law, which have been fulfilled in Jesus. Both have been remade, made better, fulfilled, in Jesus.

Jesus built His church, which today is the sole Temple of God. He was incensed enough to drive the buyers and sellers ( Luke 19:45) out of the temple of that day...how must he view buying and selling in his church, the Temple of our day? We pay preachers, who are selling what they know to us. "And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought"

"And, behold, I send the promise of my Father upon you: but tarry ye in the city of Jerusalem, until ye be endued with power from on high". This is the 'power' spoken of by Jesus in Matt 22:29, "Ye do err, not knowing the scriptures, nor the power of God". If we do not heed this truth, we have none to blame but ourselves. We must know the Word. We must know the power. Else where will we end up?

"Then opened he their understanding, that they might understand the scriptures." This is not listed among the so-called 37 NT miracles. But a miracle it was. Due to this singular event, we have the NT in our hands today. If we cannot claim this miracle unto ourselves (though I do in my life, do you?), we can certainly claim the NT that resulted from this miracle. And that's good enough for me.

"And one of the malefactors which were hanged railed on him, saying, If thou be Christ, save thyself and us. But the other answering rebuked him, saying, Dost not thou fear God, seeing thou art in the same condemnation?" This is a 'death cross' confession, for before that utterance, both reviled Jesus, Matt 27:44 and Mark 15:32. Check it out...you'll see the man repented after reviling Jesus...

"How say they that Christ is David's son?" After answering all their "got'cha" questions with ease and dispatch, Jesus asked them one. But his to them, left them stumbling. Do you the answer? If not, go to Romans 1:1-4. It is that answer. "The seed of David with the flesh, and, The Son God with power, IN ONE PERSON, JESUS". Yes, it is complicated, but think about it..you'll get it, God willing.

"And they reasoned with themselves, saying, If we shall say, From heaven; he will say, Why then believed ye him not? But and if we say, Of men; all the people will stone us: for they be persuaded that John was a prophet." If they admitted John was a prophet, they would be validating Jesus' ministry, his Christhood, a thing they were unwilling to do...Jesus had them trapped. And they well knew it.

"And he went into the temple, and began to cast out them that sold therein, and them that bought". How can paying a minister, be anything BUT BUYING in the temple (which is the church in meeting in New Testament truth)? How can preaching or teaching for a paycheck be anything BUT SELLING in the temple? God isn't simple minded. Our little excuses to disobey him, are transparent before God.

Eutychus; Every calf knows its mother, and the horse knows its way back to the barn; so why do so many NOT know or even seem to care that they are not getting fed with the truth? That's one thing I've seen for sure, that the ones who feel awkward and out of place, NO-FIT among churches and church-people, are always the ones who DO REALLY KNOW THE LORD, and have basic discernment.

"And they shall scourge him, and put him to death:and the third day he shall rise again." Pilate washed his hands of responsibility for Jesus' death. Yet he had him scourged.This is senseless.Why would the Romans require a man going to death, to be scourged? Would it awaken all the bodily senses, so that the pain of crucifixion would be more intense? I simply do not get this brutality and cruelty.

"Good Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life?" The eternal question, deserving the best answer. Today, we would quote John 3:16. But Jesus takes another position, seen in all three synopotic gospels. He said, "sell all that thou hast, and distribute unto the poor, and thou shalt have treasure in heaven: and come, follow me." List it under, "Ways to be saved", and think about it carefully.

Just for fun..."But the same day that Lot went out of Sodom it rained fire and brimstone from heaven, and destroyed them all." There were 4 (four) cities destroyed that day. Do you know them all? "...Like the overthrow of Sodom, and Gomorrah, Admah, and Zeboim, which the Lord overthrew in his anger, and in his wrath" Deut. 29:23. Zoar was spared, and Lot and family fled to it for safety.

"So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do." So, who among us can honestly say, "we have done that which was our duty to do"? Here is a challenge: read the NT, completely, and count the commandments we are admonished to keep. I guarantee you will be sadly surprised.

When did sin enter the world? Book of Eziekel 28:13-18, Isaiah 14:12-15, sinned entered the world by Lucifer. Genesis 1:1-2 God created the Heaven and the Earth inhabitable on day one, (to create is to bring something new into nature which only God can do, for man and angels only manipulate their environment, trees for lumber, clay, brick, steel ect from the earth.)

"And that they may recover themselves out of the snare of the devil, WHO ARE TAKEN CAPTIIVE BY HIM AT HIS WILL. What a fear inspiring word! Are there times, when we have no will? When we are vulnerable, though we know it not? When the power has gone? We must hasten unto the Lord. We must call upon His name. Rom 10:13, "For whosoever shall call upon the name of the Lord shall be saved." NO FEAR!!

Okay; which Scriptures of the Prophets in particular, "No longer speak to us?" That is an error and ignorance of the eternal authority and purpose of ALL OF GOD'S WORDS! Things that are harder to understand we need to grow in grace and maturity for the Lord to show us, "as we are able to hear it." Paul said some things that seem to contradict what Jesus said, but the lack is in our understanding.

Stan; The LORD "takes no pleasure" in a wicked person dying in his sins! The LORD does take pleasure in the wicked turning from his wicked ways and changing his heart to do what's good and right! What kind of false spirituality do you suppose it is, that tells the righteous that God is not pleased with his righteousness? Judge RIGHTEOUS judgment! Jesus died for our sins to take away our UNFITNESS.

"Which now of these three do you think was neighbor unto him that fell among the thieves?" Its not hard to see how Jesus turns the man's own words around on himself by God's view of his true character. As we measure others shall we be measured out to; and with the same judgment that we judge; shall we be judged! "Who is my neighbor?" How do you measure up as a neighbor? Not your religion but YOU!

"And Jesus answering said, A certain man went down from Jerusalem to Jericho, and fell among thieves, which stripped him of his raiment, and wounded him, and departed, leaving him half dead." Interestingly, someone may know the Scripture Text Chapter and Verse and yet have animosity and defiance in his heart against the Spirit who inspired the Word! The way to overcome this? Have mercy on others!

"But he, willing to justify himself, said unto Jesus, And who is my neighbor?" So, while this person was really knowledgeable in the Scriptures, and KNEW FULL WELL just exactly that keeping the Commandments was the Divine Decree and Mandate for "How to inherit everlasting life;" he apparently also KNEW FULL WELL just exactly what the Commandment meant BUT HE DIDN'T AGREE WITH IT! So he debates!

"..Master, what shall I do to inherit eternal life? He said unto him, What is written in the law? how read you? And he answering said, You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart, and with all your soul, and with all you strength, and with all your mind; and your neighbor as yourself. And he said unto him, You have answered right: this do, and you shall live." We are known by our fruits!
